The world’s biggest celebration of Indian cinema, the 22nd edition of IIFA Weekend & Awards will take place at the Middle East’s largest state-of-the-art indoor entertainment venue, Etihad Arena, part of Yas Bay Waterfront on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), and Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences.

Uniting the world to showcase cinematic excellence, IIFA is being held on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th of June 2022. Among many others, Shahid Kapoor too will be performing at the grand event.

Actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik recently slammed Go First Airlines for using dubious ways to fleece passengers. The actor took to his social media handle to express his discontent about the issue. The airlines responded to the actor’s Instagram post expressing regret and said that he will hear from them soon.

“My office booked two seats (Satish Kaushik / Ajay Rai) in the first row with middle seat also and paid 25K in G8 2315 from Mum- Dehradun on 23rd June. But alas they sold the middle seat to another passenger in spite of my office paying for it,” he wrote in his post.

Kaushik said that flight attendant Mr. Zubin from Go First tried to convince the passenger to shift to another flight, but “he was adamant”. When the fellow passenger did not get a seat, Kaushik offered him the seat. “Zubin and air hostesses who were aghast at the mistake of their own organisation thanked me,” he wrote.

Kaushik further said that the air hostess recommended him to drop an email with the airline about the glitch. Zubin asked the actor to drop an email for a refund. However, the actor said that he was told he will not receive a refund. “Zubin my office is contacting the customer care and they are saying what I expected, NO REFUND. Is it right ?? Is this the way to earn extra money by harassing a passenger. It is not about getting refund but it is about voicing your grievance,” he added.

Kaushik further added he could have held the flight but didn’t do it because he didn’t want to keep the passengers waiting after “three hours of torturous delay”.

Responding to the post, the air carrier wrote, “We thank you for reaching out to us and we regret any inconvenience cause. You will hear from our office soon.”

South Korean actors Choi Woo Shik and Son Suk Ku are currenlty in talks to star in the upcoming drama Murder DIEary (working title) based on the webtoon of the same name.

According to Korean tabloid Soompi, Murder DIEary is dark comedy thriller about an average man who accidentally murders a serial killer and a police detective who is chasing after him. Choi Woo Shik has been offered the role of Lee Tang, the average man, while Son Suk Ku is in talks to play the detective. On May 25, an industry representative reported that the actors are finalizing details to appear in the upcoming drama.

In response, Choi Woo Shik’s agency Management SOOP stated that the actor is positively reviewing the offer whereas Son Suk Ku’s agency SBD Entertainment similarly commented, “[Son Suk Koo] received a casting offer from Murder DIEary’ and is positively reviewing [the offer].” The K-drama is currently in discussion to air via Netflix.

On the work front, Choi Woo Shik is best known for films like Train to Busan, The Witch: Subversion, Oscar-winning film Parasite, and dramas like Pride and Prejudice Fight for My Way and most recently Our Beloved Summer among others.

Meanwhile, Son Suk Koo’s work credits include dramas like Designated Survivor: 60 Days, Melo Is My Nature, D.P. and the currently airing My Liberation Notes.

Thor: Love and Thunder has been regarded as a possible passing of the torch online. The highly-anticipated MCU Phase 4 movie will follow the titular hero as he picks up the pieces of his life after the events of Avengers: Endgame.

In the recent promotional teasers and trailer, Jane can be seen wielding a rebuilt Mjolnir, Thor’s old weapon that was thought to be destroyed by his sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett), making way for rumors about Marvel Studios seemingly passing the torch from Hemsworth to Portman as the leader of the Thor franchise.

However, in an interview with Total Film, the film’s director Taika Waititi teased Thor and Jane’s future within the MCU saying he doesn’t really see it that way. “And also, it’s really fun, the idea that Thor [has] got Stormbreaker, that big axe, and now his hammer’s back and it’s in the hands of someone else,” Waititi shared. “It’s no longer his hammer. It’s the idea that someone’s taking his place. I think a lot of fans are gonna potentially assume, ‘Oh, OK, this is the passing on of the torch’… I’m not privy to any plans Marvel has for the future, but I don’t think that’s the case.”

Empire Magazine recently spoke to the director about his approach to a love story. “I wanted to embrace this thing that I was always a bit dismissive of, and explore this idea of love, and show characters who do believe in love,” Waititi said.

“On paper, it feels kinds of cringe to me, but there are ways of doing it with cool characters making a cool movie, and also having a thing that no fan ever wants in a superhero movie, which is people talking about love, and characters kissing.” As noted Screen Rant tabloid, while Waititi claims he does not have knowledge of any plans that Marvel Studios has for the characters, the director must be aware of the potential directions for both Thor and Jane following the end of the film that he himself wrote. Hemsworth has also stated he wishes to continue portraying Thor after Love and Thunder, and the Asgardian hero will reportedly have future appearances later in the franchise. However, Jane’s future within the shared universe remains in question.

Marvel Studios previously dropped a synopsis for Love and Thunder, “The film finds Thor on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before its too late.”

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for release on July 8, 2022. The film also stars Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Christian Bale as the villain of the film, Gorr the God Butcher, and from the Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, and Dave Bautista, with Waititi also providing the voice of Korg.

South Korean star Jisoo, member of pop group BLACKPINK, has officially been named the new global brand ambassador for the French luxury jewellery and watch brand.

As reported by Korean tabloid Soompi, Arnaud Carrez, the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Cartier, remarked, “When we wanted to embody the magnetic aura of the panther, our attention was instinctively drawn to Jisoo. With her self-assured style, she is the voice of a new generation of creatives who dare to show their different talents. She is an artist who takes on her role with great creative freedom, never limiting herself.”

While Jisoo commented, “I’m delighted to be part of Cartier’s grand journey. It’s a truly meaningful honor for me to become a member of the Panthère community, in which each and every individual has their own unique and distinctive color. I’m looking forward to being able to share Panthère’s beauty with many people.”

As an ambassador to Cartier, Jisoo will be officially welcomed into the Panthère family, which at present includes figures like Emma Chamberlain, Mariacarla Boscono and Ella Balinska.

Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced his next directorial venture, an action film. Celebrating his 50th birthday today, Johar took to social media on Wednesday to make an official announcement. Post Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, his next would be an out-an-out action project which will commence in April 2023.

“This is a note of reflection and one of immense excitement! I turn 50 today (a number that seemed like a distant nightmare), while I know it’s kind of a mid-point of my life but I can’t help my wannabe millennial self from existing. Some call it a mid-life crisis, I proudly call it just ‘living life without any apologies’. I have worked in the movie industry for over 27 years and I’m blessed to have had the best experience ever!!! Telling stories, creating content, nurturing talent and watching the finest artists perform in front of my privileged eyes… these years are like being in a massive dream that made all the sleeplessness seem worthwhile. I am grateful for the brickbats, the bouquets, the praising souls, the public trolls…ALL OF IT!!! It’s all been a huge part of my learning curve and self growth.,” he said in the note.

“The one aspect that I believe I am most passionate about is being a filmmaker! In the past I have always taken long gaps between my films but today on this special day I would like to announce my next directorial feature,” Karan Johar wrote. “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will release on the 10th of February 2023. And I will commence the shoot of my ACTION FILM in APRIL 2023. Need your blessings and love! And I have to shamelessly sign off by saying JugJugg Jeeyo to all of you….My love forever, KARAN JOHAR.”

Meanwhile, Karan Johar is returning to direction after five years since the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. His next, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, stars Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan. The film releases in theatres on February 10, 2023.
