Just a few days back, it was reported that on May 9, Akshay Kumar would unveil the trailer of his next venture titled Prithviraj. In fact, it was also said that the film starring Akshay Kumar, Manushi Chhillar, Sonu Sood, and Sanjay Dutt would feature a grand event to unveil the trailer. Akshay himself had also tweeted simply saying, “It is time #Prithviraj”, which was accompanied by a video of him displaying his swordsmanship to announce the date.

Today at a grand event at Yash Raj Studios, the trailer of the Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi directorial Prithviraj was released amid much fanfare. However, the highlight of the event was lead actor Akshay Kumar’s entry. After revealing the title of the film, Akshay emerges from the darkness bringing with him the light as he greeted the audience. Post his entry, Akshay heads back to re-emerge with the film’s leading lady, Manushi Chhillar, as the two greeted the assembled audience. Following the entry, the trailer itself was screened for the gathered crowd, which was met with hoots and whistles.

As for the film, Prithviraj is a historical drama with Sonu Sood and Sanjay Dutt in the pivotal roles of Chand Vardai and Kaka Kanha respectively. Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi Prithviraj, is set to release on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

In a collaborative effort to honour Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s memories, Superstars from the biggest entertainment industries of India, Salman Khan, Mahesh Babu, and Prithviraj Sukumaran will be launching the teaser of Major in Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam respectively. After much anticipation, the makers of Major are all set to unveil the trailer of the film at 4.59 PM today on May 9, Monday, tracing the inspirational journey of the army officer and his bravery and sacrifice in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Giving a testimony of the massive scale the film is being mounted upon, the superstars from Bollywood, Tollywood, and Mollywood will come together to launch the trailer. Salman Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran would unveil the trailer on their social media handles in Hindi and Malayalam respectively, while Mahesh Babu would launch the trailer at the grand trailer release event in Hyderabad.

The trailer promises to offer insight into the varied phases of Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s life, offering the audience a deeper insight into his inspirational journey’s untold chapters. Slipping into the character of Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Adivi Sesh brings to screen the heroics of the martyr, commemorating the iconic milestones of the army officer’s personal as well as professional life.

Celebrating the spirit with which Sandeep Unnikrishnan lived, Major unfolds the story behind the unfortunate terror attacks and pays homage to his eventful life. Owing to the far-spread eminence of Sandeep Unnikrishnan, the film will be released in Hindi Telugu, and Malayalam.

Produced by Sony Pictures International Productions in association with Mahesh Babu’s GMB Entertainment and A+S Movies, Major is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, and stars Adivi Sesh, Sobhita Dhulipala, Saiee Manjrekar, Prakash Raj, Revathi, and Murali Sharma and will be released in Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam on June 3, 2022.

Ranveer Singh is starring in Yash Raj Films’ Jayeshbhai Jordaar, a big screen entertainer that will present a new brand of hero and heroism that is rare in Indian cinema. Ranveer is dubbed as the best actor of the country today given his chameleon-esque ability to shape-shift on screen with every film. He has again transformed himself into a character hailing from heartland Gujarat, who with his razor-sharp wit, will entertain us, win over our hearts and also deliver a powerful message. Given that he is playing a Gujarati on screen, Ranveer worked with a diction coach for over a month and surrounded himself with Gujarati theatre actors during Jayeshbhai Jordaar’s shoot.

Ranveer reveals, “As an artiste, it is important for me to be extremely authentic in my performances when I’m entrusted to play a character that belongs to a certain region of my country. From Ram Leela to Bajirao, from Gully Boy to Simmba and now Jayeshbhai, I feel responsible to accurately represent the places where these characters hail from. I feel duty bound to do justice to the people and their colourful, vibrant culture and spoken dialects. I leave no stone unturned to ensure that I give it my all.”

He adds, “For Jayeshbhai, I worked with a diction coach for over a month because the way Jayeshbhai speaks is typical to those who hail from heartland Gujarat. I had to speak exactly how their Hindi would sound like and it was a necessary and an important task. So, I did a couple of more things, thanks to my director Divyang, who is also from Gujarat. He surrounded me with amazing artistes from Gujarati theatre and film world who have been cast in Jayeshbhai Jordaar. Divyang ensured that they were always around me on the sets so that I could constantly rehearse my scenes with them. This was an invaluable process for me to become Jayeshbhai.”

Ranveer’s Gujarati act in Jayeshbhai Jordaar has floored everyone! He says, “All the praise that I’m getting right now is because of the hard work that has been put in by everyone to ensure that we deliver a performance that is a fitting tribute to all the Gujaratis. I’m not someone who is happy with half measures when it comes to my craft.”

He adds, “So, I push myself from the word go for all my films and Jayeshbhai wasn’t an exception. No film will ever be because I want to wow people with the work that I do every single time. I want them to remember me as an actor who could do it all on screen. If that’s my legacy, I will feel fulfilled.”

A hilarious satire on society – Jayeshbhai Jordaar, produced by Maneesh Sharma, also stars Arjun Reddy famed Shalini Pandey, who debuts on Bollywood’s big screen opposite Ranveer. The film has been directed by debutant Divyang Thakkar and is releasing worldwide on May 13, 2022.

We have the fourteenth Doctor Who, already! Ncuti Gatwa, popularly known as Eric Effiong in British Netflix dramedy Sex Education, will be the new Doctor. He takes over the role from Jodie Whittaker who was the first female Doctor since 2017.

According to an official statement released by BBC, Ncuti said, “There aren’t quite the words to describe how I’m feeling. A mix of deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared. This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavour my upmost to do the same.  Russell T Davies is almost as iconic as the Doctor himself and being able to work with him is a dream come true. His writing is dynamic, exciting, incredibly intelligent and fizzing with danger. An actor’s metaphorical playground. The entire team have been so welcoming and truly give their hearts to the show. And so as much as it’s daunting, I’m aware I’m joining a really supportive family. Unlike the Doctor, I may only have one heart but I am giving it all to this show.”

Ncuti Gatwa becomes the second Black actor to portray a doctor, following Jo Martin, who was seen in the role of “Fugitive Doctor” Ruth Clayton in a 2020 episode of Doctor Who.

Fans began to speculate some announcement was coming ahead of BAFTAs 2022 when both Ncuti Gatwa and showrunner Russell T. Davies posted on Instagram – a cryptic equation of two hearts, a plus sign and a blue square. Davies will be taking over the new season as showrunner from Chris Chibnall.

The production on Doctor Who new season will begin later this year.

Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi Project K, is one of the most ambitious not to mention one of India’s most expensive films of all time, speaking volumes for the scale the entertainer has been mounted on. Apart from being headlined by Pan-India star Prabhas, Hindi film industry superstar Deepika Padukone and the legendary Amitabh Bachchan too were announced as part of the star cast of the VFX entertainer.

Joining the Project K family now is Disha Patani, who has been roped in for an interesting role in the film. The young star was welcomed to the team with a special gift from the makers who mentioned how thrilled they are to have her join the film.

It looks like a spectacular year for Disha Patani at the movies with Ek Villian Returns, Dharma Productions’ Yodha a modern-day action entertainer, Balaji’s KTina which she headlines, and now Project K.
