House Of The Dragon executive producer Jocelyn Diaz exits ahead of season 2 after Miguel Sapochnik quit as showrunner

House Of The Dragon executive producer Jocelyn Diaz has reportedly stepped down as producer for the Game of Thrones prequel as it is headed for the second season.

According to Deadline, sources said she had a one-year deal with an option for a second, which is not being picked up. The exit comes after executive producer Miguel Sapochnik quit after serving as co-showrunner for Season 1. Ron Schmidt, who also served as an executive producer on Season 1, quietly exited the series a while ago.

Following Sapochnik’s exit, House of the Dragon co-creator/executive producer Ryan Condal, who was co-showrunner with Sapochnik, became the sole showrunner for Season 2. Sara Hess and Diaz continue as executive producers for Season 2, along with Vince Gerardis.

House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood and is set almost 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, telling the story of House Targaryen. The fantasy drama is coming off an eventful episode with a 10-year time jump.

Gujarati Folk Dance gets ‘trendy’ with Thangaat Garba; founders Parth Patel & Ankit Upadhyaya hype up the ‘Raas’ with music video collaborations

Navratri is here and after two years of waiting post-pandemic, Garba players are enthusiastic about getting back on ground. What makes things even more interesting is that people are now looking at Instagram and YouTube to brush up their skills. Some even learn on the internet to learn moves from scratch! Here’s where Thangaat Garba comes in… with a fun twist!

Gujarati Folk Dance gets ‘trendy’ with Thangaat Garba; founders Parth Patel & Ankit Upadhyaya hype up the ‘Raas’ with music video collaborations

Thangaat Garba was founded in 2018 with a clear motive – to globalize the traditional folk dance of Gujarat. And in order to fulfil this vision, founders Parth Patel and Ankit Upadhyaya have collaborated with several influencers to maximize the reach of this dance form. Be it collaborating with Garba queen Falguni Pathak for her Non-Stop Garba music video, or creating fun and engaging dance reels with the quirky Gujarati influencer Viraj Ghelani – these two have had a few tricks up their sleeve to entertain and educate.

The most recently released video with Falguni Pathak is her Non-Stop Garba video that lasts for more than an hour with a dozen songs. Collaborating with her is like a dream come true for them. As assistant choreographers, they worked very hard to set the right steps and get the aesthetic right for her popular numbers that she sings during Navratri in Mumbai. Parth Patel says, “It is nothing but an honour to be able to share a platform with Falguni Pathak. Be it on stage winning prizes or choreographing and planning a video with her. I am thankful Thangaat Garba has come such a long way.”

Amit Trivedi’s New Navratri anthem ‘Dhol’ also has Thangaat Garba as part of it. Both Parth and Ankit were shortlisted as part of the dance troupe and were able to deliver a performance with one of the best music makers in the country. Not just that, Thangaat Garba has also done a collaboration with Pratik Gandhi for web series The Great Indian Murder on Hotstar. The Garba duo also choreographed a dance video for Himali Naik Vyas’s single ‘Chunari’ by Sur Sagar Music that has become quite popular over the internet, as well as Bhoomi Trivedi’s Ta-Thaiyaa Raas Garba. Back in 2021, their collaboration went successful with Naitik Nagda & DJ Rink.

Their dance on the popular song ‘Dholida’ from Gangubai Kathiyawadi with Viraj Ghelani was well-received. Along with it, they assisted Sonal Devraj with Madhuri Dixit for Amazon Prime Music Video Promotion of ‘Boom Padi’ from the upcoming film Majama.

“This year we are more than excited to perform and play with the Garba queen Falguni Pathak in Borivali as it is happening after a long span of almost 3 years. We are looking forward to an exciting & fun-filled Navratri this year in Borivali, Mumbai,” says Ankit Upadhyaya. Their internet presence gained prominence way back when in 2019, 2020 & 2021 – Thangaat Garba introduced first ever online Garba courses on their website http://www.thangaatgarba.com. With pre-shot garba tutorial videos, they planned a subscription model for students who can enroll and learn basic and advanced garba. Got more than 500+ enrolments via http://www.thangaatgarba.com in two years.

Netflix buys Robert Downey Sr. documentary by Team Downey; makers plan for an Oscar push

Netflix has reportedly bought the rights to Sr., a documentary based on the life of indie filmmaker Robert Downey Sr. The film is directed by Chris Smith and produced by Downey’s son, actor Robert Downey Jr.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the documentary film will also receive a full-fledged Oscar push from the streaming giant this season. Downey Jr., who attended the film’s world premiere earlier this month at the Telluride Film Festival intends to hit the campaign trail on behalf of the project about his father (who died at 85 in July 2021), which will drop on the streamer before the end of the year.

The film explores the most memorable moments from the artist’s life and career as well as themes ranging from mortality to healing generational dysfunction (the relationship between Sr. and Jr. is prominently featured). The documentary is next headed to be screened at the New York Film Festival on October 10 and 11.

Team Downey, the production company founded by Downey Jr. and Susan Downey is attached to produce Sr. alongside Library Films. “We’re grateful to have Netflix partner with us on this highly personal project,” the Downeys said in a statement. “They’re the ideal home for our unconventional, oft absurd, brutally in-depth homage.”

“On the first day of filming, Sr. said ‘trust anything, and anything can happen’ — and that ended up being the guiding light for the project,” added Smith. “What started as a straightforward documentary quickly devolved into anything but. Knowing what I know now, it’s really the only way you could attempt to make something on the two Downeys.”

“Larger than life but open and human as ever, it was such a pleasure and life affirming experience to try to capture some glimpses of the highs, lows and everything in-between.”

EXCLUSIVE: Parineeti Chopra says there are ‘no similarities’ between Code Name: Tiranga and Alia Bhatt’s Raazi; calls it an original story

For Parineeti Chopra, her next Code Name: Tiranga will boast of many firsts in her film career. She is doing the first action film of her career and is also playing an agent on screen for the first time with this Ribhu Dasgupta film! The actress stars alongside Harrdy Sandhu and plays a spy agent in the movie. Soon after the teaser was unveiled last week, comparisons with Raazi were made by netizens as Alia Bhatt too played a spy and was in love with Vicky Kaushal’s character.

EXCLUSIVE: Parineeti Chopra says there are ‘no similarities’ between Code Name: Tiranga and Alia Bhatt’s Raazi; calls it an original story

Pointing out the conversations around the similarities, the actress was asked about the same at the same preview of Code Name: Tiranga. The actress said, “I hope not there is no similarity because there are two different films. The set-up and the story of Raazi was different, and our story is very different altogether. I am an agent since the beginning and my mission is different as well. I think that not only me but the makers, we have an actor from the same film, I think we are all aware there is no similarity with any film. I feel it is a complete original film.”

When someone interrupted saying, the similarity is in the love story, Parineeti Chopra said, “I will show you the film.” Then, she quickly joked, “No, no, no. You buy a ticket and watch.”

Previously, Parineeti said, “As an actor, we are constantly blessed to have many firsts all through our career. I’m thrilled that in my 11th year in the cinema, I’m doing my first full-blown action film and I’m ecstatic about the reaction that I have been getting for Code Name: Tiranga’s teaser. It is hugely encouraging for someone who has never dabbled in this genre.”

Code Name: Tiranga is presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, Reliance Entertainment and Film Hangar and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Reliance Entertainment, Ribhu Dasgupta and Vivek B. Agrawal. The film will hit the big screens on October 14, 2022.
