Squid Game star Lee Jung Jae’s directorial debut film Hunt to be screened at London East Asia Film Festival

South Korean star Lee Jung Jae, who rose to global fame through Netflix thriller series Squid Game, is on his way to mark his directorial debut through espionage film Hunt. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, Lee Jung Jae’s directorial debut film, which he produced, wrote the script for, directed and starred in, has been selected to open the 7th London East Asia Film Festival, which takes place from October 19 to 30. Lee will also attend the red-carpet event for the festival that will take place at Leicester Square on October 19.

Per the report, the festival’s organizing committee also announced Wednesday that there’ll be a special exhibition showcasing films that Lee has starred in, starting with Lee’s debut film The Young Man (1994), City of the Rising Sun (1999), The Housemaid (2010), Deliver Us From Evil (2020) and this year’s “Hunt.” 

Meanwhile, the film’s distributor Megabox Plus M shared on Wednesday that the film will be available to stream on digital platforms such as Tving, Wavve, Apple TV and more. Lee’s agency Artist Company also said Wednesday that Lee’s Covid-19 quarantine ended Wednesday and the actor will resume his activities.

Squid Game star Jung Ho Yeon becomes the first Korean actor to feature in TIME magazine’s TIME100 NEXT 2022 list

South Korean actress and model Jung Ho Yeon, who rose to global fame after Netflix thriller series Squid Game, created history by becoming the first Korean actor to be named on TIME magazine’s TIME100 NEXT 2022 list which was published Thursday.

According to Korea JoongAng Daily, TIME100 NEXT aims to recognize 100 rising stars from across various industries, which the magazine deems to be “shaping the future and defining the next generation of leadership.”

As per the report, Jung Ho Yeon was named in the “Phenoms” section of the list, which recognizes people who garnered phenomenal success and popularity in their fields. Euphoria‘s Sydney Sweeney, NBA player Ja Morant, Bridgerton (2020) star Simone Ashely and singer SZA were also named in the list.

Jun Ho Yeon became a breakout star appearing in the smash hit Netflix series Squid Game as Kang Sae Byeok. For her performance in the show, she won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series and earned a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Amitabh Bachchan film festival to be held in 17 cities across India to mark his 80th birthday; 11 iconic films to be screened at PVR Cinemas

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan will celebrate his 80th birthday on October 11. Known for his mega movie star status and brilliant performances in films spanning decades, there will be a grand celebration in his honour. To mark his 80th birthday, a film festival will be organised in October. The Film Heritage Foundation is organising a 4-day film festival starting from October 8 to October 11 to celebrate Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday. 11 iconic movies from his filmography will be screened at 22 screens in PVR Cinemas across 17 cities in India.

The films that will be premiered are Don, Kaala Patthar, Kaalia, Kabhi Kabhie, Amar Akbar Anthony, Namak Halaal, Abhimaan, Deewar, Mili, Satte Pe Satta and Chupke Chupke. Apart from this, a special exhibition of Amitabh Bachchan memorabilia will also be held at PVR Cinemas at Juhu in Mumbai. It will be organised by SMM Ausaja.

Film Heritage Foundation is a not-for-profit organization set up by Shivendra Singh Dungarpur in 2014. It is dedicated to supporting the conservation, preservation and restoration of the moving image and to developing interdisciplinary programs to create awareness about the language of cinema.

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan was most recently seen in Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The film was helmed by Ayan Mukerji. He will next star in Vikas Bahl’s Goodbye starring Rashmika Mandanna and Neena Gupta. He also has Unnchai with Sooraj Barjatya, The Intern remake with Deepika Padukone and Project K with Prabhas and Deepika.

25 James Bond films head to Prime Video ahead of 60th anniversary

As part of the 60th-anniversary celebration of the James Bond franchise, Prime Video unveiled the official posters and trailers of The Sound of 007, a Mat Whitecross-helmed feature documentary about the remarkable history of six decades of James Bond music that will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in 240 countries and territories worldwide from October 25. Prime members can also stream all 25 of the Bond franchise films on the service.

Additionally, following the live October 4 EON Productions and David Arnold-created charity concert at the Royal Albert Hall, Prime Video will globally stream an exclusive recording of the show—The Sound of 007: LIVE from the Royal Albert Hall. At the event, guest vocalists and a host of stars will perform iconic Bond themes.

The Sound of 007 was directed by BIFA- and BAFTA-nominee Mat Whitecross for Prime Video and MGM. The feature documentary pulls back the curtain on the remarkable history of six decades of James Bond music, taking viewers on a journey from Sean Connery’s Dr. No through to Daniel Craig’s final outing in No Time To Die. Produced by John Battsek at Ventureland, MGM, and EON Productions, the film charts the incredible history of the music, enthralling true tales behind the tunes and famous faces who have recorded some of the most beloved soundtracks in cinema.

The Sound of 007: LIVE from the Royal Albert Hall is an exclusive recording of the official charity concert at the Royal Albert Hall on October 4. Guest vocalists will join a lineup curated by five-time Bond composer David Arnold. The concert marks 60 years since the world premiere of Dr. No, the first 007 film, on October 5, 1962. Honoring the franchise’s long tradition of supporting charitable causes, the proceeds of The Sound of 007: LIVE from the Royal Albert Hall will benefit two music charities: Nordoff Robbins and The BRIT Trust. Following the concert, a custom Duesenberg guitar signed by Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli, David Arnold, and the artists will be auctioned online at Christie’s to raise additional funds for the music charities.

The highly anticipated Vikram Vedha, Hindi remake of Tamil film with the same name, has finally hit theatres today. The film, which was originally headlined by R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi, stars Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan in the lead roles. Vikram Vedha is an action-thriller written & directed by Pushkar-Gayatri. The story is full of twists and turns, as a tough cop Vikram (Saif Ali Khan) sets out to track and chase a dreaded gangster Vedha (Hrithik Roshan).
