On May 1, eagle-eyed netizens noticed Kohli’s username among the post’s likes, leading to a cascade of reactions online. Vipul Amrutlal Shah, known for his work in both production and direction, has a number of successful films to his credit. With a filmmaking style that balances audience appeal and commercial viability, he has built a steady reputation in the industry. An upcoming project now adds to his slate of work. Shah is set to collaborate with National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee on a political thriller titled Governor.

According to a report by PeepingMoon.com, Bajpayee will portray the titular role in this theatrically-released drama. Shah, known for directing films like Aankhen, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Namastey London, London Dreams, Action Replayy, and Namaste England, will produce the film under his banner, Sunshine Pictures. Direction will be handled by Chinmay Mandlekar.

Governor has been in development at Sunshine Pictures for the past two years. Casting for supporting roles is ongoing, and the project has entered pre-production. Filming is scheduled to begin between July and August. This will mark the first collaboration between Shah and Bajpayee, with the film set to present the actor in a new kind of role.

The film is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, directed by Chinmay Mandlekar, and co-produced by Aashin Shah. Separately, Shah is also working on Hisaab, a heist thriller starring Jaideep Ahlawat and Shefali Shah. Co-produced by Sunshine Pictures and Jio Studios, Hisaab is expected to release in the second half of 2025.

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are among the most successful actor-director combinations of Indian Cinema. While the duo has delivered several classics in the comedy space, we hear that they are teaming up for a thriller next.

According to sources, after Bhoot Bangla, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s next is a thriller based on Mohanlal’s Malayalam film, Oppam. “Akshay is a big fan of Oppam, and when Priyadarshan offered him the film, he took no time to sign the dotted line. He is excited to team up on a thriller with Priyadarshan,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.

We hear that the Hindi remake of Oppam will feature Saif Ali Khan in the lead role alongside Akshay Kumar. “It is a pure two-hero battle between Akshay and Saif. The film goes on floors in August 2025 with a start-to-finish schedule.”

The Oppam Remake will release in the 2nd half of 2026.

The K-POP super girl group formerly known as (G)I-DLE has announced a rebranding, changing their name to i-dle and removing the “G” that represented “Girl.” Through this change, they aim to redefine their identity beyond gender or symbolic labels. Additionally, by eliminating the parentheses, typically used to emphasize or separate elements, they signal a move toward limitless music and creative concepts as they embark on a new musical direction to celebrate their 7th anniversary.

After seven successful years in the industry, i-dle is transitioning from the name they have used since their debut on May 2, 2018, and is starting a new journey as i-dle. Members MIYEON, MINNIE, SOYEON, YUQI, and SHUHUA signify this name change “i-dle” via their social media platforms.

The group has unveiled a new logo and symbol featuring the lowercase letters ‘i, d, l, e,’ with circular dots that create a structural design of dots, lines, and planes. This design represents i-dle’s unlimited potential and connectivity. The symbol, depicting five ‘i’s coming together to form a star, emphasizes how the five unique members have unified as one, embodying “i-dle.” Known for their active involvement in producing, writing, and composing their albums, they will continue to show the authenticity and distinctive color of i-dle.

The Ajay Devgn-starrer Raid 2 has taken a solid start, collecting Rs. 19.71 crores. The opening day number was a surprise as the industry expected the film to open under Rs. 15 crores. It held very well on the second day as well and it is now all set to collect nearly Rs. 70 crores in its four-day weekend. Realizing that the film will hold strongly even on the weekdays, the distributors have taken a significant step, Bollywood Hungama has learned.

Yesterday, the distributors of Raid 2 mailed exhibitors throughout the country with a request. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “The distributors first thanked their exhibition partners for their support in playing the film. They also informed that Raid 2 is doing exceedingly well in all the territories of the country. They then made two requests. Firstly, they asked them to not drop the prices to normal on weekdays. Raid 2 is playing with popular pricing on the weekdays and cinemas were asked to keep the same rates on the weekdays as well as the second weekend.”

The source continued, “The distributors further requested the cinemas to not run any special offers on the weekdays of the first week. This means that the newly launched Tuesday 99 offer should be exempted for Raid 2. Similarly, any such scheme like Women Wednesday or any special discount for school and college kids should also not be enforced for their film.”

The Tuesday offer was launched by PVR Inox from April 8. Called ‘Blockbuster Tuesdays’, it involves the properties of PVR and Inox selling tickets for normal seats for just Rs. 99 and Rs. 149. Since the multiplex chain owns a large chunk of properties, the other theatres and multiplex chains realized that they’d be at a disadvantage if they didn’t offer tickets for cheaper prices. Hence, almost all theatres also followed suit. This resulted in slightly higher collections on Tuesdays for films like Jaat and Kesari Chapter 2.

These news reports spread like wild fire and also got a lot of negativity, especially among the die-hard fans of Salman. Bollywood Hungama has now learned that the superstar has decided to put the film on the backburner.

A source told us, “Fans were up in arms when they heard that Salman is planning a film named Ganga Ram. The news came days after Salman’s Sikandar was released and became a huge debacle. The fans feared that Ganga Ram might not work as intended and it’ll further impact the star power of Salman Khan. Hence, they created an uproar on social media over this film.”

The source added, “Salman Khan learned about the reactions of the fans. He also met some of his fans a few days after Sikandar’s release. Fans expressed their concern over this film and Salman assured that he’ll look into their issues. A few days later, he decided to put this project on hold. He’s now looking at scripts from other filmmakers like Kabir Khan, Ali Abbas Zafar, Sooraj Barjatya, etc.” Bollywood Hungama also reported that Salman Khan is in talks with Apoorva Lakhia for a film on the Galwan Valley 2020 incident.

An industry insider lauded Salman Khan and his fans saying, “Usually, fans of other actors are in denial mode when their favourite star delivers a debacle. They continue to defend the actor. But Salman Khan fans are unique. They accepted that Sikandar was not up to the mark and they also broke the internet with their displeasure over Ganga Ram.”

The insider continued, “And Salman is also one of a kind. He met his fans after Sikandar bombed. Which star does that? He heard them patiently and is now taking concrete steps so that his fan base is not dejected. This is what makes Salman Khan a true-blue star. There’s no doubt that with this approach, he’ll bounce back.”

Singer Sonu Nigam is facing trouble after a police complaint was lodged against him by a pro-Kannada organization. The complaint, filed by the President of the Bengaluru city district unit of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), accuses Nigam of making comments that hurt the sentiments of the Kannadiga community. The complaint alleges that Nigam compared a fan’s request for a Kannada song to a terrorist attack, potentially inciting hatred between linguistic communities.

The incident took place last month during a musical concert at East Point College of Engineering and Technology in Virgonagar, Bengaluru. A video from the event went viral, showing Nigam recounting how a fan had pressured him to sing in Kannada. In the clip, the singer appeared visibly upset by the interaction.

Sonu said, “Mujhe accha nahin laga ki wahan ek ladka jiski umar, jitni uske umar nahin hogi us se pehle toh main Kannada gaane ga raha hoon.”

“Yahi kaaran hai, Pahalgam mein jo hua hai na? Yahi kaaran hai jo kar rahe ho, jo kiya tha na abhi? Dekho toh kaun saamne khada hai,” he added.

Although the singer clarified during the concert that he holds deep respect for Kannadigas and the Kannada language, his remarks connecting the fan’s behavior to the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack caused widespread outrage.

The complaint filed by KRV stated, “Sonu Nigam’s statements have caused severe distress to the Kannadiga community. By equating a simple cultural request to sing a Kannada song with a terrorist act, Shri Nigam has portrayed Kannadigas as intolerant or violent, which is contrary to their peace-loving and harmonious nature.”

The terror attack in Pahalgam, which took place on April 22, resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, mostly tourists. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and intensified concerns over suspected cross-border terrorism.

The issue has since escalated, with demands for a formal apology from the singer. However, no legal action has been taken so far, apart from the filing of the complaint.

Nirmal Kapoor, the beloved matriarch of the renowned Kapoor family, passed away today, May 2nd, 2025, around 5:45 pm at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. She was in her nineties and had been battling health issues for the past few months, having been in and out of the hospital on several occasions.

Nirmal Kapoor was the widow of the late producer Surinder Kapoor, and the mother of well-known producer Boney Kapoor and actors Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor. She was a pillar of strength for her family and a cherished figure in the entertainment industry. Her passing marks the end of an era for the Kapoor family, who have had a significant impact on Indian cinema for decades.

She is survived by her three sons, Boney, Anil, and Sanjay Kapoor along with her daughter, and their families. Nirmal Kapoor’s grandchildren include popular actors Arjun Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, Mohit Marwah, Harshvardhan Kapoor, and Shanaya Kapoor, many of whom have followed in her family’s footsteps in the world of showbiz.

Sandeep Marwah, the founder of the Asian Academy of Film & Television (AAFT) in Noida, is her son-in-law. Her family, friends, and fans are mourning the loss of a loving mother and grandmother, whose presence will be deeply missed.

Nirmal Kapoor’s funeral arrangements are expected to be held privately by the family.
