Pakistani actor Arsalan Naseer accuses Fawad Khan of causing Instagram restrictions on Pakistani stars: “Fawad Bhai film ap ne ki…. ban mai ho gaya”

Pakistani actor Arsalan Naseer has sparked controversy by accusing Fawad Khan of being responsible for the restriction of Pakistani actors’ Instagram accounts in India. This includes the accounts of Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan, which are no longer accessible to Indian users.

Arsalan took a jab at Fawad, calling him “Ice Age wali gilehri,” referencing the saber-toothed, long-snouted squirrel from the Ice Age franchise, known for its particularly bad luck.

Arsalan took to his social media accounts—Instagram and X to take a dig at Fawad, who recently worked with Vaani Kapoor in his latest project Abir Gulaal. He wrote, “Fawad Bhai film ap ne ki…. masla border pe shuru ho gaya…. ban mai ho gaya. Mind na kerna lekin aap wo ‘Ice Age’ wali Gulehri hain.”

However, it is unclear which account Arsalan is referring to, as both of his social media accounts are currently visible in India.

Arsalan, known for his roles in Chupke Chupke, Hona Tha Pyar, and Siyaah, was discussing the recent news about several Pakistani actors’ Instagram accounts, including those of Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan, no longer being accessible to users in India. This development comes amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following a terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 people.

Other Pakistani celebrities whose Instagram accounts have been blocked in India include Ali Zafar, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, Momina Mustehsan, Iqra Aziz, Imran Abbas, and Sajal Aly. A message on these accounts reads, “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content,” according to Instagram.

Meanwhile, actors like Fawad Khan, Mawra Hocane, and singer Atif Aslam still have their profiles accessible to Indian users. Additionally, the Instagram account of Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan remains visible in India.

On April 22, a group of heavily armed terrorists emerged from the woods and attacked tourists on the Baisaran grassland near Pahalgam. The attack resulted in the deaths of 26 people, 25 of whom were tourists.

WAVES 2025 inaugural ceremony: Shah Rukh Khan warmly welcomes Narendra Modi; Prime Minister applauds RRR’s win at the Oscars

The inaugural ceremony of WAVES Summit 2025 was held today, May 1, at Jio World Convention Centre, BKC, Mumbai and was attended by some of the biggest names of Indian cinema. In this feature, we’ll bring to you some of the highlights of the event.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan began by saying, “I am honoured to welcome you all to the inaugural edition of the WAVES Summit, India’s global platform for the future of audio-visual entertainment. A very special welcome to our distinguished guests – the honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi ji, the honourable governor of Maharashtra C P Radhakrishnan ji and the honourable chief minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis ji.” The actor also bowed his head while greeting them.

SRK further said, “It is a global platform and a catalyst for creators, innovators, disruptors. It’s a confluence or art and technology. Here, industry leaders unite to take charge of the future, drive global innovation and drive Indian creativity on the world stage. Just like the grand vision of WAVES, let’s start the event with a grand performance, especially composed by the Oscar-winning maestro, M M Keeravani.”

Narendra Modi, meanwhile, stated, “Indian cinema has spread its wings across the globe. This is evident with Raj Kapoor and Satyajit Ray’s popularity and RRR’s success at the Oscars.”

Nagarjuna exulted, “Namaskaram! It gives me great pleasure to be here today at WAVES celebrating the spirit of India, a country whose stories have shaped not just cinema but generations of hearts. During the 55th IFFI, stamps were released to commemorate four legends of Indian cinema—Shri Raj Kapoor ji, Shri Mohammed Rafi ji, Tapan Sinha ji, and my father, Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Now at this grand global platform, we are here to commemorate another historic moment. As India marks 100 years since the birth of five extraordinary visionaries, whose creativity defined the golden age of our films, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) pays tribute to their enduring legacy. The Government of India Department of Post will release a commemorative miniature sheet of postage stamps honouring Guru Dutt ji, Ritwik Ghatak ji, Salil Chowdhury ji, Raj Khosla ji and P Bhanumati ji. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the I&B ministry and our Honorable Prime Minister of India for their tireless efforts in preserving and honouring the legacy of Indian cinema, through this incredible initiative.”

Ruckus at BKC

Meanwhile, the management at WAVES came under the scanner. More than 1000 delegates were made to wait outside in the heat for almost three hours by the security team. The delegates were assured that they’ll be ushered in when the Prime Minister will leave the venue. However, when gates didn’t open until 2:00 pm, angry delegates created a ruckus. In no time, they were allowed inside.

What was shocking was that certain prominent celebrities were also not given access to the venue and had to wait on the streets.

Janhvi Kapoor furious over Jaipur road accident, “What enables such reckless behaviour?

Actor Janhvi Kapoor has voiced her outrage over a recent road accident in Jaipur that claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl. Sharing her reaction on Instagram Stories, she condemned the “reckless behaviour” that puts lives at risk.

Reposting a video shared by Jist, Janhvi Kapoor questioned the irresponsibility behind the incident, writing, “What enables such reckless behaviour? What makes anyone think it’s okay to drive under the influence of alcohol and endanger themselves and people around them?”

“The casual nature of this crime is baffling. The amount of deaths and injuries due to drinking and driving even more so. Why aren’t we more respectful and aware about the fact that it is AGAINST THE LAW,” she added.

According to an India Today report, a woman allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol crashed her car into a motorcycle in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The accident, which occurred on Monday night, resulted in the death of a 14-year-old girl and left two others injured. The victims were riding on the same bike, and the injured are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Janhvi Kapoor has previously raised her voice against similar road accidents. Last month, she shared a post on a tragic incident in Vadodara, where a 20-year-old law student rammed a car into two-wheelers, killing one woman and injuring four others. Re-sharing a video of the crash, Janhvi wrote, “This is appalling and enraging. Sick to my stomach about anyone thinking this kind of behaviour is something they can get away with. Intoxicated or not.”

Janhvi Kapoor will next be seen opposite Sidharth Malhotra in Param Sundari, a rom-com about a love story between a “North ka munda” and a “South ki Sundari,” directed by Tushar Jalota. The film hits theatres on July 25. She will also star with Ram Charan in Peddi, his 16th film, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, alongside Shiva Raj Kumar, Divyenndu, and Jagapathi Babu.

Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, and other Pakistani actors’ Instagram accounts banned in India following Pahalgam terror attack

In the wake of the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 lives, several prominent Pakistani artists have reportedly faced restrictions on their Instagram accounts in India. Celebrities including Hania Aamir, Sajal Ali, Mahira Khan, Sanam Saeed, Iqra Aziz, Ali Zafar, Sarah Khan, and Imran Abbas, known for their significant fan bases in India, have had their accounts either temporarily suspended or restricted.

The Pahalgam attack, where terrorists targeted tourists in a brutal shooting at Baisaran meadow, has heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. The incident has prompted strong reactions from the Indian government, security agencies, and the public, with many calling for stringent measures against perceived cross-border influences.

The affected artists, many of whom have previously worked in or expressed interest in Indian entertainment, have a substantial following in India. Mahira Khan, known for her role opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Raees, has 10.9 million Instagram followers, while Hania Aamir, who was set to debut in the Punjabi film Sardaarji 3 with Diljit Dosanjh, boasts 13.1 million. Sajal Ali, Iqra Aziz, and Sarah Khan, with followings of 10.2 million, 10.9 million, and 11.7 million respectively, are celebrated for their roles in popular Pakistani dramas like Yakeen Ka Safar and Suno Chanda. Sanam Saeed, Ali Zafar, and Imran Abbas, with significant international appeal, have also been impacted, according to unverified reports on social media.

This development follows the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issuing a directive on April 26, 2025, calling for a complete ban on Pakistani artists, singers, and technicians in Indian film and entertainment projects. FWICE General Secretary Ashoke Dubey emphasized, “The nation comes first. If any of our members are found working with Pakistani artists, we will take action against them.” The organization has also urged the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to classify collaborations with Pakistani artists as treasonous, citing the Pahalgam attack as a catalyst for renewed restrictions.
