SCOOP: Sunny Deol helped Mythri Movie Makers secure Rs. 65 cr from Zee Studios for Jaat

The trailer of Sunny Deol-starrer Jaat was launched on March 24 and it mentioned two production houses  – Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar’s Mythri Movie Makers and T G Vishwa Prasad’s People Media Factory. Since April 1, the assets of the Sunny Deol-starrer added the name of Zee Studios and Umesh K R Bansal as well. Zee, on its social media handles, wasn’t promoting Jaat initially but began to do so from April 2. The logo of Zee Studios is also present in the film, which is running successfully in cinemas at present. The informed moviegoers were surprised to see Zee’s association. Some assumed that it must have distributed Jaat but that’s not the case either; the film has been released by Anil Thadani’s AA Films.

A trade source told us the truth behind this development, “Mythri Movie Makers was falling short of a certain amount. Sunny Deol, who has good relations with Zee, more so after the blockbuster success of Gadar and Gadar 2, recommended the production house to Mythri. On Sunny’s request, the head honchos at Zee Studios agreed to lend Rs. 65 crores.”

The source continued, “Mythri has mortgaged the Hindi rights of their upcoming films of 2025 and 2026 against this loan. They also agreed to include Zee’s name in the list of producers for Jaat. Zee was fine with this arrangement and that’s when they released the money.”

Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Jaat also stars Randeep Hooda, Viineet Kumar Siingh, Regena Cassandrra and Saiyami Kher. It is the story of a mysterious man who enters a lawless land and challenges its undisputed dreaded criminal. It arrived in cinemas on Thursday, April 10, and managed to open at Rs. 9.62 crores.

Interestingly, Sunny Deol has two upcoming films with Zee Studios – Baap, co-starring Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff, and the much-awaited action emotional entertainer, Gadar 3.

Vicky Kaushal joins ENO as brand ambassador in new campaign

ENO, a well-known antacid brand in India, has announced National Award-winning actor Vicky Kaushal as its new brand ambassador. For more than 50 years, ENO has been offering quick relief from acidity, becoming a familiar name in many Indian households.

The collaboration begins with a nationwide multimedia campaign highlighting ENO’s role as a quick solution for acidity relief. In the campaign, Vicky Kaushal plays ‘Jaadugar Samrat,’ a magician whose performance is briefly affected by acidity. With ENO’s help, he quickly recovers and continues his act. The ad uses a light, relatable story to show how acidity can strike at any time and how ENO can help provide fast relief.

With this campaign, ENO looks to further reinforce its presence as a popular and widely available antacid in India. It continues to focus on offering quick and dependable relief, helping consumers enjoy their meals without worry. The brand also aims to remain a preferred choice for those seeking fast relief, distinguishing itself from slower options.

Bineet Jain, Category Head – Digestive Health, Haleon India, expressed his enthusiasm about this partnership, saying, “For generations, Indians have relied on ENO for fast and effective relief from acidity, making it a household name. Our continued leadership in the category is a testament to this unwavering trust. ENO champions one’s appetite for life and we want to ensure that everyone can continue to enjoy their favourite food without the worry of discomfort.  This campaign reaffirms ENO’s promise of quick relief, and we found the perfect partner in Vicky Kaushal – an actor who, much like ENO, resonates across generations. As a brand that is truly a ‘Bharat’ brand, Vicky’s authenticity and wide appeal make him the perfect voice to communicate ENO’s legacy of trust and effectiveness.”

Sharing his excitement about the association, Vicky Kaushal said, “In a country that loves food, ENO is a trusted ally for Indians. I’ve experienced first hand the fast and assured relief ENO brings, letting me savour my favourite food without hesitation. I loved donning the role of a magician in the new ENO campaign and had fun doing it with Shoojit and his team. I am proud to be associated with a brand that Indian families have trusted for generations.”

Developed by Ogilvy, the campaign will be promoted across TV, digital, print, outdoor, and social media platforms. The creative approach blends Vicky Kaushal’s on-screen presence with ENO’s core message, presenting the brand’s promise in a simple and engaging way.

“ENO gets to work in just six seconds, so we thought, why not bring that speed and wonder to life with an ad film that looks like a real magic show. We gave Vicky Kaushal a look of a charismatic magician, and in the middle of the classic ‘body separation’ act, the real trick wasn’t just separating a man in two halves with a spell—it was making acidity disappear! The film showcases ENO’s ability to deliver rapid comfort when it matters most,” said Sujoy Roy & Nitin Srivastava, Chief Creative Officers – North at Ogilvy.

Kesari 2 press conference: Akshay Kumar BREAKS silence on Jaya Bachchan’s shocking comments on Toilet – Ek Prem Katha: “Agar unhone kaha hai toh sahi hoga…”

Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, producers Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta and director Karan Singh Tyagi attended the press conference of Kesari 2 at an aesthetically pleasing cinema hall in Mumbai. Akshay was asked to comment on Jaya Bachchan’s recent statement about his critically acclaimed and commercially successful film, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha (2017).

The journalist at first asked him to comment on being criticized for his choice of films not just by netizens but also those within the industry. The reporter didn’t name Jaya Bachchan. Akshay Kumar replied, “I don’t think anyone has criticized my films. Koi bewakoof hi hoga who’ll criticize a film like Pad Man, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, Airlift, Kesari, Kesari 2, etc. I made these films from my heart. These films educate people about so many things.”

When the journalist clarified that he meant Jaya Bachchan’s comments, he answered, “Agar unhone kaha hai toh sahi hoga. If I have done something wrong by making Toilet – Ek Prem Katha and if she feels so, toh sahi hoga.”

Jaya Bachchan had said, “Abhi aap naam bhi dekhiye toh mai aise picturein kabhi na dekhu. Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, yeh koi naam hai? Yeh koi title hai? Please bataiye aap logo me se kitne log is tarah ki title wali film dekhne jayenge.”

Akshay Kumar also reacted to the comments of Caroline Dyer, the great-granddaughter of General Reginald Dyer, who led the British troops during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Kesari 2 is based on this shocking episode.

The star said, “One nation’s trauma is another nation’s lesson. She never understood it. She kept saying, ‘History hai, bhool jao, khatam karo’. I don’t think she has understood the lesson and what we have gone through. What Karan said about it, I appreciate it and the way he said it is also absolutely right.”

He added, “By the time this film reaches the climax, you’ll understand how much anger there was. I would say that you watch the film to feel the anger.”

Kesari 2 releases in cinemas on April 18.

Piracy Shock: Man creates app to stream Chhaava illegally; nabbed by Mumbai Cyber Police

In a major boost to Bollywood’s ongoing battle against piracy, the South Cyber Police Station, Mumbai, has arrested a 26-year-old man for the illegal distribution of the historical epic Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal. The arrest happened nearly 12 days after another recent big-ticket release, Sikandar starring Salman Khan, has also fallen prey to digital piracy, compounding concerns within the film industry.

A case was registered under Crime Register No. 23/2025 following a complaint by Rajat Rahul Haksar (37), CEO of August Entertainment Company. The FIR includes charges under Sections 316(2), 318(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 51, 63, and 65(A) of the Copyright Act, Sections 6AA and 6AB of the Cinematograph Act, and Sections 66 and 63(j) of the IT Act. The complaint states that between February 14 and March 20, 2025, 1818 pirated links of Chhaava were illegally circulated via WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, YouTube and Google, causing significant financial damage to producers Maddock Films as well as August Entertainment.

During a detailed technical probe, cyber investigators traced one of the piracy links to Sagar Manik Randhavan, a resident of Daund, Pune. He had purchased a domain via Hostinger and created an app to stream pirated films — including Chhaava — to paying users. On April 10, with assistance from Daund Police, PSI Rupali Chaudhary and her team arrested the accused and brought him to Mumbai. He is currently in police custody until April 13, 2025.

While the arrest in the Chhava case is a step in the right direction, the Bollywood industry now hopes that those responsible for leaking the Salman Khan-starrer Sikandar are also swiftly brought to justice. The matter was particularly serious, as the pirated print of Sikandar surfaced before the film’s first theatrical show had even begun, sending shockwaves across the trade. Moreover, the leaked version was a raw, uncut copy, suggesting an insider-level breach that demands a thorough investigation. The industry continues to urge authorities to treat such cases with urgency, as piracy not only dents box office collections but also undermines months of creative and financial investment.

Meanwhile, an industry insider commented, “There have been videos where Chhaava was screened in a school ground and it was also being played on a big screen put up on a busy junction! Here’s hoping the authorities also act upon those responsible for it.

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s poorly animated rave avatar in Pakistan sparks laughter and outrage online, fans react saying, “Hell Nah This Is NOT Kareena’

A video showing a poorly animated avatar of Kareena Kapoor Khan dancing at a rave party in Pakistan has stirred a mix of outrage and amusement among fans. Shared by a DJ, the clip features the animated version of the actor grooving on a screen with loud music playing in the background.

Hamza Haris, who describes himself as a “Quintessential Karachi Boi” in his bio, posted the video on Instagram along with a note explaining his creative process. “Been working on this track for a minute, and I finally wrapped it up just in time for the show,” he wrote. Haris said the idea struck while he was watching Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and decided to sample the iconic line by Pooh. “So I thought, why not have Kareena Kapoor dancing? It’s iconic. It’s chaotic. And honestly, no one’s done that at a rave before,” he added.

He added, “We pulled it off—and it was a hit. The crowd went wild. Just hoping Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor Khan see this someday and get how funny, unexpected, and hype it was.”

The video begins with a text overlay that reads, “POV: You’re at a rave in Karachi, Pakistan and Kareena Kapoor starts dancing in front of you.” It then cuts to the animated avatar of Kareena, dressed in what looks like a formal outfit, hair pulled back in a tight ponytail, dancing energetically on a screen.

One user commented, “This animation is sooooo bad, and why is she looking like she is going to work?” Another chimed in with, “Stop working on the track and animation both.”

A third person remarked, “Hell nah this is NOT Kareena Kapoor.” Another reacted with disbelief, saying, “What? How? Is this for real? No ways. Hahahaha.” Several others responded with just laughing out loud emojis, capturing the absurdity of the video.

Maddock Films’ Dinesh Vijan urges Bollywood to embrace Indian identity over western aspiration; says, “The common man wants stories about them”

Maddock Films is enjoying a winning streak with its recent productions. Following the success of last year’s Stree 2 and the blockbuster performance of Chhaava, the production house continues to deliver box office hits. Their upcoming release is the romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. During a press conference held before the trailer launch, the head of Maddock Films shared insights on the current landscape of Bollywood and the kind of stories that deserve to be highlighted.

At the press conference, Dinesh Vijan, as reported by News18, emphasized the importance of collective success in the industry. He said, “It’s very important to wish for everyone to do well. Just us doing well is not enough. I can’t tell you what I am doing, and others are not doing. We learn from whatever we are doing. We are trying to understand that right now, we are not aspirational to the West. We are very Indian in how we think. The common man wants stories about them. They are coming to the theatre on Friday, a slightly elitist crowd is coming 8-9 days later. The people we are with and surrounded by are very important because they are going to influence the decision you make.”

He further added, “I am fortunate that my writers and directors are grounded and real people and are connected to the new Bharat. It is very important to know who we are because the new Bharat is proud of who they are.”

Bhool Chuk Maaf will be Maddock Films’ third release this year, following the success of Sky Force featuring Akshay Kumar and last week’s Chhaava starring Vicky Kaushal. The rom-com is scheduled to hit theatres on May 9.
