An industry source close to the production revealed, “The biopic being made on Shri Shri Ravi Shankar’s life, starring Vikrant Massey, will explore the most significant and previously untouched chapters of his journey, his pivotal role in resolving Colombia’s 52 years long civil war within just a year and made a global impact.”

This fresh angle has set this film apart from conventional biopics, positioning it as a globally resonant thriller rooted in real events. The same source added, “Interestingly, nearly 90% of the crew is from Colombia itself. The team has been shooting there, and almost everyone on the crew is a local. This not only lends authenticity to the project but also ensures that the storytelling is enriched with firsthand insights from those familiar with the events and environment of that era. The cameras are set to roll on Gunmaaster G9, a family action drama that brings together the Aashiq Banaya Aapne team, Emraan Hashmi, director Aditya Datt, and music composer Himesh Reshammiya, after nearly two decades.

Produced by Deepak Mukut and Hunar Mukut under the Soham Rockstar Entertainment banner, the film features an ensemble cast including Emraan Hashmi, Genelia D’Souza, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Singh. After Sanam Teri Kasam earlier this year, Mukut has returned with a new genre-driven project.

Gunmaaster G9 will feature Emraan Hashmi in an action role, with stylized visuals and a focus on emotional storytelling.

Director Aditya Datt, known for Table No. 21, the Commando franchise, and the recent OTT series Bad Cop, sees the film as a full-circle moment.

“When we made Aashiq Banaya Aapne, we were young, hungry, and experimental. With Gunmaaster G9, we’re still all of those things—but sharper and more evolved. It’s a full-circle moment for me. I’m incredibly grateful to Deepak Mukut for bringing us back together and trusting us with this film,” he said.

Producer Deepak Mukut, head of Soham Rockstar Entertainment, known for investing in genre-forward cinema, added, “This film is slick, emotional, and has mass appeal. The 100th birth anniversary of one of the greatest film personalities ever, Guru Dutt, is celebrated on July 9. He died at the age of just 38 but the contribution he made to cinema has been unforgettable. No wonder that 60 years after his passing, he continues to be talked about and remembered. Some believe that he committed suicide while some don’t believe this theory at all. Devi Dutt, brother of Guru Dutt, spoke at length with Filmfare 9 years ago about why he was sure that his brother didn’t end his own life.

In the April 2016 issue, a detailed interview of Devi Dutt was published in which he talked about Guru Dutt’s beginnings, his relationship with Geeta Dutt and a lot more. At one point, he explained what happened on October 9, 1964, a day before Guru Dutt was found dead.

Devi Dutt said, “After Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (1962), Guru Dutt and Bhabhi (Geeta Dutt) had patched up. It was decided that the entire family would stay together at 48 Pali Hill once it was redeveloped. On October 9, 1964, he was at his studio with Tanuja, Rehman and director Shaeed Latif for his production Baharein Phir Bhi Aayegi. But Mala ji (Mala Sinha) had got stuck in Madras. So, the shooting got postponed. Bhabhi had gone to the children’s school for PTA and was supposed to send (their sons) Tarun and Arun across in the evening. We left for home in the car. He asked me to buy kites and manjha from Bandra as he wanted to fly kites with the children over the weekend. Then we stopped at Charag Din at Colaba. He bought clothes for the boys and also some for me.”

He continued, “Then we stopped at Kanji Bhai broker’s house at Marine Lines to collect whisky bottles. Guru Dutt asked him to get his money back from investors as he wanted to import coloured stock for Kaneez (a film that he was supposed to make). When we reached home, he went into the kitchen and began preparing omelettes. He said he’d cook more often when we all lived together. He said that we brothers would occupy the 9th and 10th floors, from where we’d watch the sunset every evening. Just then walked in our Chartered Accountant, Gole saab. He informed Guru Dutt of the final notices from the IT department for the taxes pending for the past two years. They got into a heated argument. Gole saab warned that the IT department could raid the studio, office and home anytime. Guru Dutt asked me to go home.”

Devi Dutt then added, “On the way out I met Abrar Alvi. I asked him to convey Bhabhi’s message to Guru Dutt – that she wouldn’t be sending the kids as it was late. That was my last evening with Guru Dutt. The next day, he was no more. I still maintain that he did not commit suicide. It must have been due to the sleeping pills after heavy drinking with Abrar. Waheeda ji had left us in 1962. Guru Dutt was facing serious income tax problems. He was on the verge of bankruptcy. He was worried about the studio going away.”

In a shocking breach of trust, Juhu police have arrested Vedika Prakash Shetty, the former personal assistant of Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, for allegedly defrauding Bhatt of Rs.76.9 lakh. The fraud spanned from May 2022 to August 2024 and involved both the actress’s personal wallet and her company, Eternal Sunshine Productions Pvt Ltd.

The complaint was lodged on January 23, 2025, by Alia’s mother, veteran actor-director Soni Razdan. A case was formally registered under sections pertaining to criminal breach of trust and cheating. Investigations led the Juhu police to initiate a nationwide manhunt for Vedika, who remained elusive for nearly five months.

Finally, Shetty was located at her sister’s residence in Bengaluru earlier this week and promptly brought back to Mumbai on a transit warrant for further legal proceedings.

Police allege that during her tenure from 2021 to 2024, Vedika prepared fake invoices and exaggerated expense claims—including travel, meetings, and logistical arrangements. She used professional-grade software to ensure the documents appeared authentic. After obtaining Alia’s signature, the funds were transferred to an accomplice’s account, who then rerouted the money back to Vedika.

As the former secretary and a trusted aide, Vedika had privileged access to Bhatt’s schedules and finances. The alleged fraudulent activity has sparked widespread concern over the vulnerability of high-profile personalities to internal financial deception.

Vedika is currently in custody at the Juhu police station. Authorities are meticulously examining her role in the scheme and identifying the purported accomplices who helped divert the funds. Legal experts predict charges under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and potentially under the Information Technology Act for electronic document forgery.

The case has sent shockwaves through Bollywood, highlighting the need for stricter internal controls and financial audits within productions and personal management. Lawyers and accountants are advising celebrities and businesses to adopt robust verification processes for invoices and third-party payments.

The buzz surrounding Ramayana, Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious two-part adaptation of the Indian epic, has had a ripple effect beyond cinema, boosting investor sentiment and pushing up the market value of its producer’s company. The film, bankrolled by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, released its first glimpse on July 3. Anticipation for the project was already high, but the unveiling of the visuals propelled excitement to new levels, both among fans and on the stock market.

Prime Focus Ltd, which is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), had already seen a 30% jump in its share price—from Rs 113.47 to Rs 149.69—between June 25 and July 1, following board approval of a preferential issue of 462.7 million equity shares. But the buzz around the Ramayana glimpse gave it an even bigger boost.

On July 3, the day of the glimpse launch, Prime Focus shares peaked at Rs 176, up from Rs 149.69 just two days earlier. This surge pushed the company’s market capitalisation from Rs 4,638 crore on July 1 to a peak of Rs 5,641 crore—an increase of over Rs 1,000 crore. By market close, the share price had dipped slightly to Rs 169, bringing the market cap to approximately Rs 5,200 crore.

Adding to the momentum, Ramayana’s lead actor Ranbir Kapoor is set to invest in the film’s production house. According to a report in Business Standard, Ranbir will be allotted 1.25 million shares of Prime Focus. Although the exact price of the acquisition has not been disclosed, based on the current market value, his investment is estimated to be around Rs 20 crore.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being mounted as one of the most expensive and high-profile Indian films ever. The cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The film also boasts an iconic musical collaboration between AR Rahman and Hollywood legend Hans Zimmer, who will be making his Bollywood debut.

In this film, he focuses on the personal and social lives behind the glamour, offering a closer look at the world of Bollywood’s inner circle through his characteristic attention to detail and realism.

Actress and sports enthusiast Saiyami Kher successfully completed her second Ironman 70.3 Triathlon on July 6, 2025, in Jönköping, Sweden. With this achievement, she became the only Indian actor to have finished the Ironman 70.3 race twice within a year.

The Ironman 70.3 is an endurance challenge involving 1.9 km of open water swimming, 90 km of cycling, and a 21.1 km half marathon run, all completed within a single day. Saiyami completed her first Ironman 70.3 in September 2024, marking her debut in international endurance racing.

Her second race in Sweden was the European Championship and came with added challenges, including cold waters, steep hills, and strong headwinds. Saiyami completed the course 32 minutes faster than her previous race.

“People often ask why I put myself through this kind of torture. The truth is, it’s not about proving anything to the world. I’ve never thrived on external validation. For me, endurance sport is deeply personal — it’s a race against my own doubts. This year, my only goal was to be better than I was last year. And I did just that,” said Saiyami in a post after the race.

“As a woman, it’s additionally a big pain to do such a physically challenging activity with your period but it’s just a reminder that it’s always mind over matter. There’s a strange, quiet pride in finishing something that once felt impossible. A deep joy,” added the actress.
