Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava to be screen in Maharashtra’s first state-of-the-art inflatable theatre in Gadchiroli

In a landmark moment for Maharashtra’s remote tribal belt, mobile theatre company PictureTime has launched the state’s first state-of-the-art inflatable cinema hall in Gadchiroli, with the premiere screening of Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava. This unique initiative brings the magic of the big screen to a region previously untouched by modern cinema infrastructure.

Located in one of Maharashtra’s most underserved districts — with over 90% of its population residing in rural areas — Gadchiroli is now home to a high-tech, fully air-conditioned inflatable theatre equipped with 5.1 Dolby sound, digital projection, and 120 push-back seats. This initiative is aimed at making world-class cinema accessible to the 10-lakh-strong population of the district at affordable ticket prices of just ₹150.

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Chhaava, which chronicles the life of Maratha warrior Sambhaji Maharaj, was chosen as the debut screening to spark cultural interest and revive cinema-going habits in the region.

The launch event, held on May 22, saw attendance from key dignitaries including Dr. Milindji Narote (MLA, Gadchiroli Assembly Constituency), Avishyant Panda (IAS, Collector, Gadchiroli), Mr. Prashantji Waghare (BJP Zilha Adhyaksh), and Mr. Surajit Roy (COO & President, PictureTime) among others.

Following the inauguration, the cinema hall kicks off regular programming with two films: Ata Thambaycha Naay (Marathi) and Kesari Veer (Hindi) starring Suniel Shetty. Speaking at the launch, Sushil Chaudhary, Founder & CEO of PictureTime, said, “At PictureTime, our mission has always been to democratize cinema by taking it to the remotest corners of India — places where the magic of the big screen has long remained out of reach. The launch of our inflatable theatre in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, with the screening of Chhaava, and our recent expansion into Bommidi, Tamil Nadu, mark important milestones in this journey. We believe that access to cinema is not just about entertainment — it’s about inclusion, inspiration, and creating shared cultural experiences for every Indian, no matter where they live,” he added.

The inflatable theatre has been set up as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the Municipal Corporation of Gadchiroli, which will own the infrastructure, while PictureTime will manage programming and operations.

Looking ahead, the programming will include a mix of Marathi and Hindi mainstream releases, along with a dedicated effort to screen films from independent filmmakers who often struggle with theatrical distribution.

PictureTime has already made waves with similar inflatable cinemas across India, including locations such as Ladakh (the world’s highest theatre), Kishtwar (J&K), Asifabad (Telangana), Bapatla and Nagaur (Rajasthan), and Khatima (Uttarakhand) — continuing its mission to transform cinema access across the nation.

Hera Pheri 3 Row: Advocate of Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films opens up about the legal notice sent to Paresh Rawal; reveals these are ‘consequences of a unilateral pullback’

We had earlier reported that in a major setback to the much-awaited Hera Pheri 3, Akshay Kumar and his production house Cape of Good Films has reportedly taken legal action against veteran actor Paresh Rawal for abruptly backing out of the project. Advocate Pooja Tidke, representing the production house, confirmed that a legal notice has been issued, citing breach of contract and damages amounting to Rs 25 crores.

According to the legal team, Rawal had officially committed to the film earlier this year and even began shooting. “Stakeholders had met, confirmed the production of the film. In fact, Paresh ji had tweeted about the film sometime in the end of January, indicating very clearly that he would be associated with it. Thereafter, there were contracts entered into, the shooting for the trailer began. In fact, there was some portion about three or three and a half minutes of the film itself that had been shot,” said Tidke in a statement to PTI.

However, the situation took a sharp turn in May, when Rawal allegedly revealed to Bollywood Hungama about him no longer being a part of the film. The sudden withdrawal has reportedly shocked the cast and crew. “It’s taken everybody by surprise”. “There have been expenses incurred towards the cast, towards the crew, towards leading senior actors, logistics, equipment, shooting of the trailer,” she shared and continued, “Trailers have been shot and released. So, there’s been a substantial amount of money already invested in the film. Shooting had begun. Of course, you know, everyone’s synchronized schedules are now disrupted. Professionally, it’s affected everyone,”

The advocate further elaborated on the potential fallout, highlighting that the production house had already paid Rs 11 lakhs to Rawal and had begun shooting based on the contractual agreement. “These are damages towards the losses suffered on account of a unilateral pullback from the film after having committed, acted upon the contract that he had already entered into. Of course, the production house paying senior actors, the production house has incurred its own costs”, Tidke noted.

The legal notice served gives Rawal a seven-day window to respond, a period that is set to end in the next couple of days. “So far, there’s been no development since then. It is true. We have issued a legal notice”. “While also expressing hope for an amicable resolution, she mentioned, “I’m sure parties are talking to each other and trying to work things out”, and concluded, “Let’s hope things work out. It’s good for all the stakeholders in the film. It’s good for the audience. It’s good for the franchise. It’s a very beloved franchise. So, let’s see what happens”.

As per current reports, no new update has emerged since the notice was sent, but sources suggest that informal conversations may be underway to resolve the issue out of court. The Hera Pheri franchise, known for its cult status and comic timing, continues to face uncertainty as fans eagerly await clarity on the future of its third installment.

EXCLUSIVE: Trailer of Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 5 to be launched in a GRAND event on May 27; ALL the 19 leading actors to attend

One of the biggest films of the year, Housefull 5, is all set to release in 15 days and the excitement is tremendous. Surprisingly, the trailer of the film isn’t out yet, leading to impatience among the fans. Bollywood Hungama has learned that the trailer will be unveiled in less than a week’s time.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The makers want to take the promotions to the next level 10 days before the release. As part of this strategy, they will unveil the trailer on Tuesday, May 27. A launch event is also being planned and all the leading 19 actors of the film are expected to be a part of it.”

Many had apprehensions about the idea of releasing the trailer so close to the film’s release but producer Sajid Nadiadwala knows what he is doing, as per the source. The source explained, “All the assets until now have added to the buzz. The teaser of the film gave an idea to the aam junta that Housefull 5 is a multi-starrer film set on a cruise and things go awry after a murder takes place in the middle of the sea. The two songs, ‘Laal Pari’ and ‘Dil E Nadaan’, further indicated to the audience the scale and entertainment value. Now, the trailer will bring out the biggest USP of the film – the humour quotient.”

The source continued, “From May 27 until the release of the film, the makers plan to extensively promote the film. It’ll be Housefull mania all over. This is the only series of Bollywood which has reached the fifth instalment. Hence, the makers and the cast of the film are supremely excited and are confident that the film will be lapped up by the audience.”

Housefull 5 stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chunky Pandey, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Chitrangda Singh, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma and Nikitin Dheer. With story and screenplay by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film is directed by Tarun Mansukhani of Dostana (2008) fame and it releases on Bakri Eid, on June 6, 2025.

Mumbai Police arrest man and woman for attempting to enter Salman Khan’s Mumbai residence

A man and a woman were arrested by the Mumbai Police this week for allegedly attempting to enter Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence, police officials reported on Thursday.

The police further added that the accused made separate attempts to enter Galaxy Apartments in Bandra (West) on Tuesday and Wednesday. The man has been identified as Jitendra Kumar Singh, aged 23, while the details of the woman are still being verified.

According to the police, Singh, a resident of Chhattisgarh, was first seen loitering around Salman Khan’s residence at around 9:45 AM on Tuesday. When a policeman assigned to the actor’s security asked him to leave, Singh reacted angrily by smashing his mobile phone on the ground.

An officer stated, “That evening, Singh entered Galaxy Apartments in a car belonging to a person living in the same building. However, he was stopped by the police again. This time, they handed him over to the Bandra police.”

During interrogation, Singh revealed that he wanted to meet the actor. He claimed that he attempted to sneak in because the police were not allowing him to enter the building, the officer added.

It was not immediately clear how Singh managed to get into the vehicle of a resident of Galaxy Apartments. A day later, the woman made a similar attempt and even managed to reach the actor’s flat, according to the police. The officer stated, “The two accused have been arrested and cases of trespassing have been registered against them.”

Sohail Khan announces comedy caper My Punjabi Nikaah starring Sanjay Dutt, Aayush Sharma and Annu Kapoor

Filmmaker Sohail Khan is set to return to the director’s chair with his next feature film, My Punjabi Nikaah, a situational comedy headlined by a stellar ensemble including Sanjay Dutt, Aayush Sharma, and Annu Kapoor. The announcement was made by Khan himself via social media, where he revealed key details about the film, including the title and cast.

Describing it as a comic caper with hints of the gangster genre, My Punjabi Nikaah will also introduce a debutant actress in a lead role, whose identity remains under wraps for now. The film is expected to bring a mix of humour, drama, and cultural quirks, all told through a contemporary lens. Set in Punjab and Haryana, the film’s narrative will reportedly explore religious and cultural contrasts in a light-hearted manner. The title suggests that the film will delve into the traditions and chaos of cross-cultural weddings, possibly with a twist of underworld flair.

Speaking about the launch, Sohail Khan expressed gratitude to several dignitaries who extended their support for the film’s shoot across Punjab and Haryana. He met with the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, as well as the Chief Ministers of Haryana and Punjab, Shri Nayab Singh Saini and Shri Bhagwant Mann, respectively. Khan described the meetings as heartwarming and encouraging, especially for what he calls his “pet project”.

While Sanjay Dutt is said to portray a larger-than-life character, Aayush Sharma will be seen in a more grounded, boy-next-door avatar. The contrast between the two characters is expected to serve as a major comedic driver for the film. Sharma, known for his roles in Loveyatri, Antim: The Final Truth, and Ruslaan, continues to diversify his filmography with this genre shift. Currently in pre-production, My Punjabi Nikaah is expected to go on floors in the latter half of 2025.

Now, speaking exclusively to this writer, Santoshi said, “I am planning to release my film in October or November this year. I’ve waited for almost twenty years to make this film. You could call it my dream project. What is meant to be is meant to be. I was destined to make it with Sunny (Deol). And he is perfect in his part. He brings an arresting fusion of the classic and contemporary to the screen. My past films with Sunny, Ghayal and Ghatak, have been landmarks in his career, and mine too. Hera Pheri 3 Row: Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films sends legal notice to Paresh Rawal over Rs 11 Lakh payment

In a significant development surrounding the much-awaited comedy sequel Hera Pheri 3, Akshay Kumar’s production banner Cape of Good Films has issued a legal notice to veteran actor Paresh Rawal, seeking damages worth Rs 25 crore for allegedly walking out of the project after accepting a part payment of Rs. 11 lakh.

The dispute centres around Rawal’s sudden withdrawal from the film after reportedly confirming his participation both publicly and contractually. According to sources close to the production house, Rawal had acknowledged his involvement in Hera Pheri 3 in a social media post dated January 30, 2025. He is also said to have signed a term sheet on March 27, accepting a token amount of Rs. 11 lakh as part of his remuneration.

The production house claims that in good faith and based on Rawal’s commitment, they proceeded with the film’s initial shoot and teaser production. The teaser shoot reportedly began on April 3, with over three minutes of footage featuring the actor already filmed. Insiders also revealed that Rawal had been involved in multiple creative meetings alongside lead actors Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, further insisting that he never raised any objections at any point regarding the script or creative direction. Because of the same, the team has asseryted that the sudden exit citing ‘creative differences’ came as a surprise to the team.

In its notice, the production company has also alleged that Rawal’s exit not only disrupted the film’s schedule but also caused a significant financial setback. They have termed his departure “abrupt” and “unjustified,” claiming it has jeopardised the momentum of the high-profile production. The notice demands compliance within seven days, failing which the company has stated it will pursue both civil and criminal legal remedies.

This legal action follows reports that surfaced earlier this month, suggesting tensions between Rawal and the production team. While Rawal confirmed that he had exited the film and had communicated the same to the team, both Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan have refuted any claims of prior warning, expressing support for the legal move initiated by Cape of Good Films. Hera Pheri 3 is the third instalment in the iconic comedy franchise and is being closely watched by fans and the industry alike for any developments.
