The buzz around War 2 just got louder with the latest update pointing to a teaser release on the birthday of Telugu superstar Jr NTR. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Yash Raj Films, the action-packed sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War is one of the most anticipated entries in the YRF Spy Universe. Now, it seems fans won’t have to wait much longer for their first glimpse of the high-octane thriller.

The speculation began when Hrithik Roshan, who reprises his role as Agent Kabir, posted a cryptic message on social media on Friday, May 16. He tagged Jr NTR and teased, “Hey @tarak9999, think you know what to expect on the 20th of May this year? Trust me you have NO idea what’s in store. Ready?” The post instantly went viral with Jr NTR also responding to it and it further fuelled rumours that a teaser or poster could be released on the RRR actor’s birthday on May 20.

Confirming the buzz to Bollywood Hungama, a source stated that the makers are indeed planning to unveil the teaser of War 2 as a birthday surprise for Jr NTR fans. A well-placed industry source revealed, “War 2 is special for Jr NTR since it is first full-fledged Hindi film. There is already enough anticipation around his character. The fact that his birthday falls in this month was quite exciting for the makers who were keen on treating his fans with something special. All eyes are on the film and what better than a teaser as a special gift to all of them”.

The film, which is set for release on August 14, 2025, marks Jr NTR’s big Bollywood debut. While Hrithik returns to the universe as the suave and sharp Kabir, Jr NTR will be seen in a powerful antagonist role, promising an epic face-off. Also joining the cast is Kiara Advani, who is pairing up with both stars for the first time.

So far, the makers have kept all visuals and character looks under tight wraps, building intrigue around the film. With the teaser to be unveiled on May 20, the countdown has begun for what could be the most explosive reveal yet in the YRF Spy Universe.

Television actress Dipika Kakar, best known for her role in Sasural Simar Ka, has been diagnosed with a tumour in her liver, her husband and actor Shoaib Ibrahim revealed in his latest vlog. The actor opened up about the health scare that has left the family in deep shock, urging fans to pray for Dipika’s speedy recovery.

Sharing the update with fans on his YouTube channel, Shoaib said in Hindi, “Dipika is not well. There is a serious stomach issue. When I was in Chandigarh, Dipika started having pain in her stomach and initially we thought it was due to acidity. When the pain did not go away, she consulted our family doctor, who also treated my father. He put her on some antibiotics and suggested some blood tests. She was on antibiotics till May 5… After my father’s birthday, she once again started experiencing pain, and the blood test showed an infection in her body.”

The actor further added that their family doctor advised them to get a CT scan done, which ultimately revealed the presence of a tumour. “Our doctor asked us to visit again and when we met him he asked us to do a CT scan and it showed that Dipika has a tumour in the left lobe of her liver. It is bigger in size like a tennis ball. It was very shocking for us,” Shoaib said, his voice heavy with emotion.

He also shared that Dipika was immediately hospitalised for further testing to determine whether the tumour is cancerous, further stating that she will be undergoing surgery soon for the removal of the tumour.

The couple, who welcomed their son Ruhaan in June 2023, have often shared glimpses of their family life through vlogs and social media. Shoaib admitted that apart from worrying about Dipika’s health, their young son’s well-being is also a concern during this difficult time.

Shoaib concluded the video with a heartfelt message, requesting fans to keep Dipika in their thoughts. The news has prompted an outpouring of love and support from fans and industry colleagues, who are hoping for her speedy recovery.

In 2022, Bollywood Hungama was the first one to break the news that Hera Pheri 3 is in the offing. The news spread like wild fire and led to jubilation among the fans of this series. Recently, the mahurat shot took place of the film, further adding to the excitement. But in a shocking move, one of the leading actors of the film, Paresh Rawal, has walked out of the project.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “There were creative differences between the makers and Paresh Rawal. As a result, the actor decided to step down from the film.”

In the Hera Pheri series, Paresh Rawal essays the role of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte. This character has a crazy fan base and is also one of the reasons why the franchise achieved cult status. The popularity of Baburao memes and gifs refuses to die down. As a result, this astonishing development is sure to break the hearts of crores of fans who were waiting to see Baburao create madness with his partners-in-crime, Raju (Akshay Kumar) and Shyam (Suniel Shetty).

When Bollywood Hungama contacted Paresh Rawal, he confirmed that he’s no longer acting in Hera Pheri 3. He said, “Yes, it’s a fact.”

Industry insiders, however, hope that a miracle happens and the actor returns to the franchise, especially going by the twists and turns that have taken place with regard to Hera Pheri 3. An industry expert remarked, “There was a time when Akshay Kumar was out of the film, in 2022. Even he’s the soul of the series hence, his exit led to disappointment. But thankfully, he returned to the franchise. Based on that episode, we hope Mr Rawal can also be back in the series.”

The series began with Hera Pheri (2000). It was an average grosser and achieved a huge following on television. Hence, the sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006), took a smashing opening and emerged as a super-hit. A few years later, the two films gained even more popularity thanks to social media and the timeless humour. This further fuelled the hype for the third installment.

Superstar Hrithik Roshan was in the news in March when it was revealed that he’ll be directing Krrish 4, the much-awaited fourth part of a blockbuster superhero franchise. Around the same time, successful director Atlee was also in the news over his film with Pushpa star Allu Arjun. Interestingly, both these star personalities had a secret meeting last year and Bollywood Hungama will throw light on this unknown but fascinating episode.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Hrithik Roshan met Atlee in the second half of 2024, before his production Baby John was released in cinemas. Both have high respect for each other’s work and they had a long conversation about it and other areas of life.”

However, the source made it clear that those expecting Hrithik and Atlee to join hands for a project will be disheartened. The source added, “Hrithik Roshan and Atlee did express the desire to work with each other. However, they realized that it won’t be possible in the near future. It was a time when Atlee was working on his next venture while Hrithik, at that point, was all set to gear up for the pre-production of Krrish 4. Both Krrish 4 and A22xA6 are high-profile, time-consuming films and hence, for the next two years, they’ll be fully invested in it. Nevertheless, they decided to be in touch and hoped for a collaboration later on, if things fall into place.”

A22xA6 is a tentative referral to the Allu Arjun-Atlee film. Produced by Sun Pictures, it was formally announced on the actor’s birthday, on April 8. On the other hand, Krrish 4 will star Hrithik in the lead and will serve as his directorial debut. The earlier three parts – Koi Mil Gaya (2003), Krrish (2013) and Krrish 3 (2023) – were directed by his father, Rakesh Roshan. Hrithik also grabbed headlines in the beginning of the year with the Netflix documentary, The Roshans. It was released a few days after his birthday and his 25th anniversary as an actor. To mark this momentous occasion, his debut flick Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000) was even re-released in cinemas.

Actor Vijay Raaz has been cleared of all charges in a sexual harassment case. The case was filed by a female colleague during the shooting of Sherni, which also starred Vidya Balan. On Wednesday, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Gondia, Maharashtra, declared the actor innocent after completing the trial. The court ruled that there was not enough evidence to prove that Raaz was guilty. Judge Mahendra Keshao Sorte said the prosecution failed to establish the charges under Sections 354-A (sexual harassment) and 354-D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code. As a result, the actor has been acquitted.

The case goes back to November 2020. According to the complaint, the actor allegedly touched the woman without her consent, adjusted her mask, and made comments about her appearance. She later informed her seniors and filed an FIR at Ramnagar Police Station. Vijay Raaz was arrested in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, on November 4, 2020, and was released on bail the same day. During the investigation, police collected CCTV footage and recorded witness statements. However, the court found that:

No witnesses saw the incident directly.
The CCTV footage did not clearly support the claims.
The main complainant passed away before the trial ended.
Other witnesses either changed their statements or could not support the evidence.

Because of these reasons, the court ruled that the case was not strong enough to convict the actor. Raaz’s lawyer, Saveena Bedi Sachar, said the actor had to leave the film shoot and lost work due to the allegations. She added that this case shows why it is important to wait for the court’s decision before judging someone.

The court has also ordered the cancellation of Raaz’s bail bond, the return of the surety amount, and the destruction of the seized CCTV footage. However, Raaz has been asked to provide a bond of ₹7,000 to ensure his presence if an appeal is filed.

Winter is coming—with a new mystery. English-Nepalese psychological thriller Maya Ko Maya, headlined by Vinay Pathak (Bheja Fry, Khosla Ka Ghosla), Nepal’s breakout star Anna Sharma (Aktor, The Man from Kathmandu), Saloni Batra (Animal, Soni) and Satyajeet Dubey (Mumbai Diaries 26/11, Prassthanam), has wrapped its principal photography, makers announced on Friday. Set in modern Nepal and based on real events, the film is directed by Rohit Karan Baidya. Maya Ko Maya is eyeing a worldwide release in winter 2025.

The thriller is produced by Jyadro Movies, a Driver Inc. company with India’s leading independent film studio, Platoon One Films, known for indie gems like Sir (Cannes) and Ghaath (Berlinale), on board as a key creative consultant. Billed as a gripping tale of self-discovery and love, the film follows the journey of its protagonist, Maya, who struggles against the weight of societal expectations and turns to a form of therapy, setting off an emotional storm that threatens to reshape everything she knows. Maya Ko Maya explores identity, tradition, and the fight for authenticity in a world caught between past and present.

Vinay Pathak described filming in Nepal as a “deeply transformative experience,” and said the country is a living, breathing character in the film. “Maya Ko Maya reveals a side of Nepal the world has rarely seen – raw, intimate, and powerful. A land that holds both beauty and pain in a single breath, much like Maya’s journey. Rohit’s vision and commitment have developed this film into an experience that invites you in with its beauty and stays with you because of what it dares to say,” Vinay Pathak said in a statement.

Anna Sharma called the film a “powerful psychological thriller,” which—though rooted in Nepal—anchors itself in universal emotions. “It was a truly enriching experience to bring this complex character to life, and working alongside the legendary Vinay Pathak made the journey all the more unforgettable,” Anna said.

Saloni Batra said wrapping up the film felt like leaving behind a “wild, beautiful storm,” and added, “My character doesn’t fit the mould. She’s fierce, messy, hopeful, and free. Shooting in Nepal was a treat in itself. The landscapes, the energy, and the people all added something real to the story and to how I approached the character.”

“This film has been a labour of love,” said director Rohit Karan Baidya, known for Life on the Road Nepal (screened at Singapore Independent Film Festival and IndieFilm Fest, California) and the Royal Television Society-nominated pilot Wild Cooks.

“What began as casual interviews in 2019 evolved into something urgent and necessary. Maya Ko Maya is a voice for those forced into silence, and a confrontation of the invisible violence that persists even in progressive societies,” the filmmaker added.

Satyajeet Dubey said he was drawn to the film because of how “uncomfortably human” his character was. “In this film, nothing is black or white. We’re all trapped in shades of grey. It’s a psychological thriller, yes, but also a deeply intimate exploration of guilt, control, and suppressed desire,” he added.

The film’s casting was led by Platoon Collective, the talent management division of Platoon One Films, in collaboration with Driver Inc. Platoon One Films will also be facilitating the distribution and international sales of the film.

Anshuman Jha had the censor screening for his directorial debut on January 3, 2025. After a prolonged four-month+ engagement with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), actor and filmmaker Anshuman Jha’s much-anticipated directorial debut Lord Curzon Ki Haveli has officially been cleared with a censor certificate. The CBFC has granted the film an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certification with three mandated changes. The biggest one being that a female character cannot use a curse word on screen with a female prefix. Jha has had to mute/remove those portions even though it is an ‘A’ certified. The other major contention was the language of the film, since it is 50% in Hindi and 50% in English. Something the Actor-Film Maker is not particularly happy about.

A Black comedy thriller that has captured global attention over the past year, Lord Curzon Ki Haveli has been a breakout success on the international festival circuit. It was the only Indian selection at Europe’s premier genre showcase — Razor Reel Flanders 2024 — and earned Jha the “Best Director” honour at the UK Asian Film Festival 2024.

Starring International Emmy nominee Arjun Mathur alongside acclaimed actors Rasika Dugal, Paresh Pahuja, and Tanmay Dhanania, the film weaves an atmospheric tale around themes of identity and immigration, centered on the experiences of Asians in the UK.

Notably, Lord Curzon Ki Haveli is the first mainstream Indian feature to be shot entirely on a single 35mm lens — “a bold creative choice inspired by Jha’s admiration for Alfred Hitchcock’ cinema” says French Cinematographer Jean Marc Selva. The result is a stylish homage to classical filmmaking that has earned critical praise for both its narrative craft and visual flair.

The film is penned by award-winning writer Bikas Mishra and produced by Golden Ratio Films, Adya Films UK, and First Ray Films. Since its world premiere in Australia, it has picked up numerous accolades including “Star of Asia” for Rasika Dugal at CSAFF Chicago and “Best Actor” for Arjun Mathur at UKAFF London.

Speaking on the certification, Anshuman Jha commented, “It’s a relief that we finally have the certification. The journey hasn’t been easy, but we remained committed to the film we wanted to showcase. Not only was the delay too long, but to then get an A certification and to cut and mute scenes. There are other film that get away with UA having worse expletives and violence. While I’m ok to follow the rules, it needs to be standardised”.

Globally acclaimed, Censor certified, finally coming home. Lord Curzon Ki Haveli is hugely awaited.
