So impressed is producer Prerna Arora with Telugu star Sudheer Babu—who headlines her forthcoming supernatural thriller Jatadhara—that she plans to collaborate with him on a series of films as part of an ambitious Jatadhara franchise.

Says the producer, “Sudheer Babu is already a huge star in Telugu cinema. Take my word for it: Jatadhara will give him the pan-India exposure he deserves. The way he has performed the stunts in Jatadhara… the audience hasn’t seen anything like it. I believe Sudheer Babu has the potential to be the next pan-India superstar.”

As Jatadhara prepares for a global release, Prerna is already looking to expand the story into a franchise. “We don’t want to just cash in on a potentially successful idea. The subsequent films in the series must justify their presence. We won’t make Jatadhara 9 and 10 just because the audience wants it,” she adds.

Jatadhara is shaping up to be an exciting cinematic collaboration. The partnership between Zee Studios and Prerna Arora promises a captivating supernatural thriller that blends history, myth, and science in a compelling narrative.

The film delves into the mysteries surrounding the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple, unravelling the story of its hidden treasures and the scientific and mystical phenomena that have baffled historians and researchers for years. It explores not just the treasure itself, but the legends and theories about the temple’s unexplained forces—blending suspense, adventure, and mystery as the story unfolds.

The year began on a massy note thanks to Badass Ravi Kumar, starring Himesh Reshammiya. The film became a talking point thanks to its music, clapworthy dialogues and spoof genre and was well received by the audience and critics alike. However, it’s been more than three months since it was released in cinemas and yet, it hasn’t premiered on any OTT platform. The buzz among fans is that the makers must not have a good deal from a streaming giant; that’s usually the reason for such delays. Bollywood Hungama has now learned that Badass Ravi Kumar’s digital premiere has not happened for a very unusual reason.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Unlike the perception in the market, all major OTT giants are interested in buying Badass Ravi Kumar. They are ready to pay a hefty amount, as well as they know that there’s a lot of goodwill for the film and that it’ll amass huge viewership due to its entertaining content.”

Then what’s the issue? The source explained, “As per a deal with an OTT platform, you need to sign a contract stating that you’ll allow them to upload clips from your film on the streaming giant’s YouTube channel. Himesh Reshammiya, who is also the producer of Badass Ravi Kumar, has reservations with this clause. He wants the OTTs to simply upload his film on their platform, while he wants to be the sole person cutting memorable scenes from their film and putting them for public consumption on the YouTube channel of Himesh Reshammiya Melodies. That’s why he didn’t even sell the music rights to any music company.”

The source added, “Himesh Reshammiya is aware that he is sitting on a gold mine with Badass Ravi Kumar. Its dialogues created a frenzy in cinemas and these one-liners will get mad viewership on YouTube. The OTT giants don’t stop producers from uploading dialogues and scenes from their film on their YouTube channel. Even Himesh Reshammiya can do so if he signs the deal with the streaming giants. But then the views will get divided between the scenes uploaded by the YouTube channel of the OTT platform and that of Himesh Reshammiya Melodies. He doesn’t want that scenario. It’s an unusual situation for the OTT giants. Nevertheless, the discussions are going on and once both parties reach a common ground, the much-awaited OTT premiere of Badass Ravi Kumar will be finally announced.”

Deepika Padukone is reportedly set to receive the biggest paycheck of her acting career. As per a report by India Today Digital, the actress is charging Rs 20 crore for her role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit, which is expected to feature Prabhas in the lead. This development, though yet to be officially confirmed, has attracted attention for surpassing the reported fees of her husband, actor Ranveer Singh. The project marks a potential professional reunion for Deepika and Prabhas following their collaboration in Kalki 2898 AD.

Shift in Plans Opens New Opportunity
According to Pinkvilla, Deepika had initially declined the offer due to scheduling conflicts, as the original timeline for Spirit overlapped with her pregnancy. A source quoted in the report said, “Initially, Spirit was to begin by the end of 2024 and hence, Deepika had turned down the offer, as the timelines were not matching due to her pregnancy.” However, the shooting schedule was later revised, making it possible for Deepika to reconsider the role.
Revised Timeline Clears the Way
The same Pinkvilla source added, “With a delay in schedule, Vanga went back to Deepika with a revised shooting timeline, and the actress has now agreed to come on board Spirit.” Although there is no official announcement yet, this revised plan has reportedly aligned with Deepika’s availability. If confirmed, it would mark her first film post the birth of her daughter Dua.

Speaking of the upcoming film, it will mark Sandeep and Prabhas’ first collaboration. Readers may recall that in September 2024, Bollywood Hungama reported that Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan might play a villainous duo in Spirit. However, the makers are yet to share an update on its cast, shooting, and release date.

On May 9, YouTube unexpectedly took down the teaser of the much-awaited film Housefull 5, citing a copyright claim by Mofusion Studios. Viewers were met with a message stating the video was unavailable due to this claim. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned that Yo Yo Honey Singh has officially provided a written declaration that he alone owns the rights to the song and has exclusively sold it to Nadiadwala Grandson, post which Sajid Nadiadwala has filed a Rs. 25 crores defamation suit each against Mofusion Studios and YouTube. The dispute centres around the song ‘Laal Pari’, composed by Yo Yo Honey Singh.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The matter arose as the song ‘Laal Pari’ was incorporated in the teaser of Housefull 5. It is composed by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Mofusion Studios has claimed that they hold the rights to the song. However, Yo Yo Honey Singh has given in writing to Sajid Nadiadwala that he’s the sole rights holder to ‘Laal Pari’.”

The source continued, “Based on this strong piece of evidence, the producer has decided to take legal action. Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment is one of the biggest and most reputed production houses of Indian Cinema and the way the teaser of their expensive and grand film was removed without checking with them was unfair. Hence, they felt it was necessary to take action against Mofusion Studios. They also have a grouse against YouTube. The management of the banner believes that if a copyright claim did arise, then the video-sharing platform should have checked with the makers, especially considering that the channel of Nadiadwala Grandsons Entertainment has more than 16 lakhs subscribers and has never been accused of such malpractice in the past. But YouTube didn’t do so and simply removed the teaser, thus denting their image.”

The notices were delivered to YouTube and Mofusion Studios on May 12. The source said, “The legal team of Nadiadwala Grandson has asked YouTube to re-upload the teaser immediately or else pay damages amounting to Rs. 25 crores.”

Over a decade since their last film PK, actor Aamir Khan and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani are in advanced discussions to reunite for a new project. As per a report by Pinkvilla, the potential collaboration is set to begin production in 2026, though the film remains untitled for now. According to the report, the idea for the film emerged after Rajkumar Hirani weighed multiple concepts.

“Rajkumar Hirani was toying with 3 ideas, and he has finally decided to move ahead with a subject. He discussed the same with Aamir Khan, and the actor has also loved the world that Raju is developing,” a source told Pinkvilla. “The two have principally agreed on the film, with the intent to take it on floors in 2026. The yet-untitled film will be Rajkumar Hirani’s next directorial after Dunki.”

While the film is still in its early stages, there is strong mutual interest. The source revealed that the film will blend slice-of-life elements with comedy and inspiration—genres often explored by Hirani. Further production decisions are expected to be finalized after Sitaare Zameen Par hits the theatres.
Other Collaborations on Hold
In addition to his project with Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani has been in conversation with other actors as well. Discussions were held with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal for separate films, but scheduling conflicts stalled progress. “Those two ideas are reserved by Rajkumar Hirani for the near future with RK and VK respectively,” the source said. At present, Hirani is wrapping up work on his web series before fully shifting focus to the Aamir Khan project.

The Aamir-Hirani combination has previously delivered films that not only performed well at the box office but also left a lasting impression on audiences. 3 Idiots became a cultural phenomenon upon release in 2009, and PK broke several records in 2014.

Currently, Aamir is awaiting the release of Sitaare Zameen Par, scheduled to hit theaters on June 20. Directed by R.S. Prasanna, it also stars Genelia Deshmukh in the lead.

The Royals premiered on Netflix on May 9 and has managed to grab eyeballs, thanks to its casting, grandeur and light-hearted tone. The last 10 minutes of the final episode, however, are quite dramatic and it ends on a cliffhanger with the promise of Season 2. Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Lisa Mishra, who features in The Royals as Nikki, on this aspect.

Lisa Mishra said, “Do you know anything? I’d love to know (laughs)! On a serious note, Call Me Bae’s Season 2 was announced within a week of Season 1’s release. I hope the same repeats with The Royals. If people keep showering us with love, then the producers will make the next season and Netflix will fund it. Let’s hope that happens as Season 1 ends with a lot of unanswered questions.”

Lisa Mishra is also a musician and in Call Me Bae, she was seen not just as an actor but also as a composer and singer. When asked if she tried for that aspect for The Royals, she replied, “No, I didn’t as I always leave it up to the creators to see what works best for the show. Hopefully, if we get a season 2, you’ll hear my music as well. We are now getting exposure to a lot of multi-hyphenates, that is, a lot of musician-actors around the world – and it only helps the series when the actor also gets to compose the music.”

Has there been any update on Call Me Bae’s second season? Lisa Mishra spilt the beans, “We are going to start filming this year for Call Me Bae Season 2. Everyone is super excited to get back on the set. We all became friends. Our director, Collin D’Cunha, did a great job as he left us an environment where everyone was an equal and everyone ended up being friends. I know that all of us are begging to be back on the sets!”

During the promotions of Call Me Bae, Lisa Mishra told Bollywood Hungama exclusively that her The Royals co-star Bhumi Pednekar had seen her series and appreciated it. Also, Call Me Bae’s producer Karan Johar praised her act. Now that The Royals is out, has her Call Me Bae co-star Ananya Panday and KJo watched it?

Lisa Mishra said, “I need to ask them. We are all a part of the group. I’ll put up a message to our group. Vihaan Samat and I are the common actors in both shows. Hence, it’ll be nice to know what they think of the show. However, our director has seen it and he liked it.”

Interestingly, both Call Me Bae and The Royals have been light-hearted, unlike most of the shows, which are violent and gory. Although Lisa has confessed that she’s blessed to be doing such shows, would she like to challenge herself and do a gritty series?

Lisa Mishra explained, “Maybe I’d like to do that, but I enjoy this world. I was raised on romance and comedies. Although all my favourite films are very dark and gritty, the world needs more content like this right now. Maybe, a few years down the line, you can expect something more serious from my side. But if somebody calls me and offers me a show in the dark space, I’ll be happy to take the job. I’ll take any great job in acting right now. Please hire me (laughs)!”

A few months before The Royals, Lisa Mishra was in the news as she performed with Ed Sheeran in Delhi. On this, she stated, “That was unreal. The last 2 years of my life have been crazy. Call Me Bae and my album released last year. I composed the music in Call Me Bae. Then I opened for Ed Sheeran and recently, The Royals have also released. It’s been an incredible and deeply humbling journey. When you level up your career, you sacrifice a lot of other things as well. You can’t be in the studio all the time, as you also have to fulfill your duties as an actor. Ultimately, you gain the maximum potential of yourself as an artist. It forces you to be your most creative self.”

Sony Pictures Entertainment India has brought together Ajay Devgn and his son, Yug Devgan, for their first-ever collaboration on a major Hollywood franchise. The duo lent their voices to the Hindi version of Karate Kid: Legends, which releases in theatres across India on May 30 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Ajay Devgn voiced the iconic character Mr. Han, originally portrayed by Jackie Chan, while Yug made his debut as Li Fong, the film’s lead character originally played by Ben Wang. This marks Ajay Devgn’s first-ever voiceover for an international film.

Their real-life bond added depth to the film’s central theme, the relationship between a mentor and his protégé. Yug lent his voice to help introduce the Karate Kid franchise to a new generation of Indian audiences.
