Harshvardhan Rane refuses to work with Mawra Hocane in a powerful note condemning her anti-India comments

Actor Harshvardhan Rane, who rose to popularity after the re-release of the 2016 romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, has made it clear that he will not be returning for a potential sequel if his former co-star, Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, is involved. The development comes in the wake of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s subsequent military response through Operation Sindoor.

Following India’s retaliatory action, several Pakistani artists expressed their disapproval online, including Mawra Hocane. In a now-viral post, she wrote, “Strongly condemn India’s cowardly attack on Pakistan… Innocent civilians have lost their lives.. May Allah protect us all… may sense prevail.. Ya Allah ho Ya Hafizo.. #PakistanZindabad.” Her remarks did not go unnoticed, and among those who responded was her former co-star Harshvardhan Rane.

In a powerful and patriotic statement, the actor declared his support for India and announced his decision to distance himself from any collaboration that includes Mawra. He said, “While I am grateful for the experience however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated.”

He followed it up with another heartfelt message underscoring his values and added, “I respect all artists and humans of this country, that country, Kenya and even Mars, but this kind of derogatory remarks about my country by anyone is unpardonable. Am okay with losing out on followers on Instagram but won’t allow anyone to walk over the pride and upbringing. Standing by your country is good, but disrespectful, hateful remarks about other country is not.”

The original film, which was directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, had garnered a cult following after it re-released, with many fans hoping for a sequel featuring the lead pair. However, Rane’s public declaration suggests that such a possibility is now unlikely, especially in the current political and emotional climate.

Rane’s decision has resonated with many Indian fans, who have lauded the actor for standing by the nation. At a time when social media has become a battleground for public opinion, especially during cross-border tensions, his statement reflects a growing sentiment among Indian celebrities who are refusing to remain neutral in matters of national interest.

Aamir Khan delays Sitaare Zameen Par trailer release in response to the tensions at India-Pakistan border

Amid the growing cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, actor Aamir Khan has decided to delay the trailer release of his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, which was supposed to happen on May 8. Prior to this, Maddock Films, a well-known film production house, had cancelled the theatrical release of Rajkummar Rao starrer Bhool Chuk Maaf, opting instead for a digital release on Prime Video.

According to sources, Aamir Khan’s production team made the decision to delay the trailer release in light of the ongoing developments at the country’s borders and the subsequent nationwide alert.

A source close to the production house mentioned that they stand in solidarity with the armed forces who are safeguarding the nation. They further added that the team, as responsible citizens, felt it was crucial to uphold unity and exercise restraint during such times.

Sources suggest that the makers had considered launching the trailer over the weekend. However, Aamir Khan and the team have now decided to postpone it. While there is speculation about a potential delay in the film’s release, the producers have yet to issue any official confirmation about the same.

Also starring Genelia D’Souza and a group of 10 children, Sitaare Zameen Par is directed by RS Prasanna. It serves as a spiritual sequel to Aamir Khan’s 2007 hit film, Taare Zameen Par.

Nation first! Sunny Deol freezes Lahore 1947 patchwork, backs Border 2 amid anti-Pak wave

The India-Pakistan tension has changed a lot, especially the perception towards the neighbouring country. Once again, calls were made for a boycott of Pakistani actors and this time, in an unprecedented move, their social media accounts have been banned in India. In such volatile times, actor Sunny Deol, the lead actor of Lahore 1947, has decided to play safe, as per sources.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Some 15 days of patchwork shoot of Lahore 1947 is pending. However, Sunny Deol is not prioritizing its shoot right now. He loves the subject of the film but fears that in today’s times, when Pakistan is seen as a big enemy and is trying to destroy our civilian areas, this film and its message might be misinterpreted by vested interests. Hence, he is avoiding shooting for it.”

An industry insider commented, “Sunny Deol will probably prefer that Border 2 releases first. It’ll feature him fighting the Pakistani army and it will be the apt film to be out as it will be in sync with the overall mood of the nation. He would then want Lahore 1947 to be out.” Border 2, the sequel to the 1997 blockbuster, will be out in cinemas on Republic Day 2026.

Lahore 1947 is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and besides Sunny Deol, it also stars Preity Zinta and Ali Fazal. It is produced by Aamir Khan and he also features in the film in an interesting role. Lahore 1947 is based on the acclaimed play ‘Jis Lahore Nahi Dekhya’. Written by Syed Asghar Wajahat in 1980, the Partition-era story revolves around a Muslim family which migrates from Lucknow to Lahore and is allotted a haveli vacated by a Hindu family. The old Hindu matriarch refuses to leave her ancestral home and she also strikes a rare bond with the Muslim immigrants.

Saif Ali Khan stabbing case takes new turn as accused claims illegal arrest

In a surprising development in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case, the accused intruder, Mohammad Shariful Islam – allegedly a Bangladeshi national – has now filed a plea asserting that his arrest was unlawful. According to a report by PTI, Islam’s lawyer Ajay Gawli submitted a plea to the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Bandra, stating that the arrest was carried out in clear violation of Section 47 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The plea argues that the arrest was “clearly and blatantly disregarded” by the investigating authorities, as Islam was allegedly not informed about the reasons for his arrest nor provided any information about his right to bail – both of which are legal requirements under BNSS, revealed the petition submitted to the court.

Further, the plea stated that no written document or formal statement of charges was given to the accused at the time of the arrest, adding that the mandatory procedural guidelines were ignored. Shariful Islam’s legal counsel has claimed that such oversights not only question the legality of the arrest but also violate the fundamental rights of the accused. Following the submission of the plea, the court has directed the police to respond to the plea and the matter too has been adjourned to May 13. The upcoming hearing is expected to bring clarity on whether due legal process was followed in the high-profile case.

This legal twist adds to the already sensational case involving Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who was attacked at his residence in the early hours of January 16. According to earlier reports, the accused had trespassed into Khan’s Bandra home and allegedly attempted to stab the actor with a sharp object. Saif sustained several injuries while trying to defend himself and his family, after which he was immediately rushed to the nearby Lilavati Hospital to be treated.

The case sparked wide spread media attention and public interest owing to the popularity of the actor. And now with new legal challenges emerging from the accused’s camp, all eyes are now on the May 13 hearing.

Sanjay Dutt pens fierce note supporting Indian Armed Forces; says, “We are not backing down this time”

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has come out in strong support of the Indian Armed Forces following Operation Sindoor. In a powerful note shared on X (formerly Twitter), the actor expressed unwavering solidarity with India’s defence forces and condemned terrorism in the strongest terms.

“The relentless attacks on our people will no longer be tolerated. We will respond, not with hesitation, but with full force and unshakable resolve. The world must understand, our battle is not against a people or a nation, but against the terrorists who thrive on fear, chaos, and destruction. Let there be no doubt, we are not backing down this time,” Dutt wrote, addressing the nation and the global community.

Operation Sindoor, India’s latest strategic counter-terrorism response to the Pahalgam tragedy that claimed the lives of several innocent Indian civilians on April 22, has garnered widespread attention and support. Dutt’s message reflects the collective anguish and determination felt by millions across the country. “These terrorists are nothing but cowards hiding behind the veil of violence. They strike from the shadows, but they will learn that we are a nation that does not bow. We rise stronger every time they try to break us. Our unity, our spirit, and our will to fight back are far greater than their hate,” he stated.

Dutt, who has portrayed patriotic characters on-screen in films like Mission Kashmir and Torbaaz, emphasized that the valour of Indian soldiers goes beyond borders—they defend the very soul of the nation. “I am proud of our armed forces. They stand tall at the frontlines, fearless and focused, answering every act of terror with courage and fire. They are not just defending borders; they are defending every child’s dream, every family’s peace, and the soul of this nation. They are the true heroes and I salute each one of them,” he added.

Calling for unity among citizens, Dutt urged the public to not remain silent or divided. “This is not just their fight. It is our fight. As citizens, we must stand together. We will not be intimidated. This battle may not end today. But our strength, our determination, and our unity are eternal. We stand ready and if the need arises, will serve in any way possible. We are one. We are strong. And we will not stop until peace is restored and justice is served,” he asserted.

Janhvi Kapoor backs Operation Sindoor; says India’s response to terrorism is an ‘act of survival not extremism’

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has voiced her support for Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to the devastating Pahalgam attack that shook the nation. In a deeply moving Instagram story, the Devara actress expressed her anxiety, sorrow, and patriotism as she responded to the events that unfolded across news channels and social media.

“The visuals that unfolded on news channels and social media last night felt like they were something out of a movie, something I never fathomed I’d see in this lifetime happening on Indian soil. It was a kind of anxiety I had never experienced before. And it made me think of all the times we’d remark on foreign conflicts from a safe distance and call for an end to any and all kinds of confrontation between countries. But this time it’s at our door step,” Janhvi wrote, setting the tone for her heartfelt message.

Acknowledging the emotional weight of the recent events, Janhvi added, “And I have experienced every beat of rage and pain that has lead to this confrontation, to this defensive. But still the threat to innocent lives on both sides paralyses me with fear. In my heart and in my mind, the persecution of an innocent life is the highest order of sin no matter what the reason for them to be collateralised. It is against the very fabric of being Indian.”

Janhvi went on to praise the Indian armed forces and their unyielding commitment to protecting the nation. “We by nature, by history, are never the aggressors… But yesterday, despite the terror and uncertainty of what may unfold, there was a sense of security,” she noted, commending the Air Force, Navy and Army for standing guard.

She also extended her gratitude to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi for his leadership during these turbulent times, writing, “Thank you Shri Narendra Modi for showing us that sometimes being an Indian also means to take a stand and to put an end to injustice inflicted upon us.”

Calling for unity above all else, Janhvi urged citizens to stay strong and undivided. “We stand united. Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist and Christian alike… The only scenario in which the perpetrators get what they want is if we let them divide us from within. I implore you to rise above that instinct. India’s long over due response to terrorism is not extremism, it is an act of survival. Jai hind.”

Her message has struck a chord with many, reflecting a sentiment that blends empathy with patriotism in the face of ongoing conflict.

BREAKING: PVR Inox sues Maddock Films for cancelling theatrical release of Bhool Chuk Maaf; case to be heard in Bombay High Court

The week gone by has been unprecedented for the film industry. On the morning of Thursday, May 8, the producers of Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, announced that the film would not be released in cinemas on May 9 as planned. Instead, it would straight away premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 16. The statement from the makers read, “In light of the recent events and the heightened security drills across the nation, we at Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios have decided to bring our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directly to your homes on May 16—only on Prime Video, worldwide. While we were eagerly looking forward to celebrating the film with you in theatres, the spirit of the nation comes first. Jai Hind.” 48 hours later, it has now come to light that the biggest multiplex chain of India, PVR Inox, has sued Maddock Films.

As per reports, PVR Inox has decided to take legal action against the production house for damages of Rs. 60 crores for non-playability of Bhool Chuk Maaf. Reports also claimed that though the banner claimed to have cancelled the release due to the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the multiplex chain has alleged that the decision was taken due to poor advance booking.

Bollywood Hungama spoke to multiple sources and found out that the development was true. A prominent exhibitor told us, “PVR has submitted their case in the Bombay High Court. The matter became serious as all the contracts were signed, and then suddenly Maddock backed off. Hence, this is a case of ‘breach of contract’.”

An industry insider said, “Maddock probably must have added the ‘force majeure’ clause, which refers to an unforeseen event or circumstance, like a natural disaster or war, that prevents a party from fulfilling their contractual obligations. Hence, they might have an edge. But PVR can always argue that the makers could have released the film in cinemas after a few weeks or a month if they felt that the footfalls would be impacted. Going directly on OTT is what angered them and also other exhibitors. Also, the idea behind the legal action is probably to ensure that no other producer attempts to adopt the same strategy.”

Interestingly, just 8 days before, on May 2, Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and Ajay Bijli of PVR Inox had shared the stage together at WAVES 2025. PVR was also one of the distributors of Stree 2 (2024) and the sole distributor of Sky Force (2025), both of which were produced by Maddock.
