The romcom Param Sundari is all set to be released this Friday, August 29, and the excitement for it is there due to its songs, casting and subject. Last week, the makers successfully completed the censor process and Bollywood Hungama will focus on the same in this article.

The good news is that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) hasn’t asked for any visual cut. In recent times, the Censor Board has deleted intimate visuals in films like Saiyaara and War 2. Many feared that they’ll follow suit with Param Sundari’s track ‘Bheegi Saree’. Thankfully, the CBFC has spared the song of any cut.

However, the Examining Committee of CBFC has asked for several changes in the dialogues. The word ‘bastard’ was replaced with ‘idiot’ in the subtitles. The words ‘bloody’ as well as ‘church’ were muted and also removed from the subtitles. The word ‘father’ was also muted. Finally, the CBFC allowed the song ‘Sun Mere Yaar Ve’ in the end credits.

Once these changes were made, the CBFC passed Param Sundari with a U/A 13+ certificate. The length of the film, as mentioned on the certificate, is 136 minutes. In other words, Param Sundari is 2 hours and 16 minutes long.

Param Sundari stars Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor and releases on August 29. It is directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films.

According to her latest LinkedIn update, Mayoori is now part of the global executive leadership team for Publicis Global Delivery (PGD) and has also been named CEO of the company’s India Delivery Center. Quite the leap from silver screen ingénue to corporate head honcho.

Announcing her big career move, she wrote, “I’m delighted to share that I’ve rejoined Publicis Groupe as part of the global executive leadership team for #Publicis Global Delivery (PGD). In this role, I’ll be partnering with the PGD Global team to shape our global solutions and services across media, tech, and digital — while also stepping up our AI practice… It feels great to be back — grateful for the warm welcome and excited for the journey ahead.”

Interestingly, this isn’t her first time with the global advertising giant. Mayoori had earlier served as the Managing Director at Performics, a performance marketing agency under Publicis, before moving on to other roles, including a stint at Google.

But for Bollywood buffs, she’ll always be the fresh-faced starlet of Papa Kehte Hain. Though she followed it up with Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet (1999) and a string of TV shows like Dollar Bahu (2001), Thoda Gham Thodi Khushi, and Karishma: The Miracles of Destiny (2003), her acting career never really hit the big league.

By the mid-2000s, Mayoori had moved away from showbiz, completed her MBA in 2007, and steadily built her corporate career. Today, she’s a name to reckon with in advertising and digital media leadership — far removed from the song-and-dance routines of the ’90s.

The Madras High Court has stepped into a fresh legal battle involving late Bollywood icon Sridevi’s property on Chennai’s East Coast Road (ECR), directing the Tambaram tahsildar to make a clear decision within four weeks. The case was brought forward by film producer Boney Kapoor, who has accused three individuals of fraudulently staking ownership over land his wife had purchased back in 1988.

Justice N. Anand Venkatesh, who presided over the matter, issued the directive after hearing Kapoor’s plea to cancel a legal heirship certificate obtained by the claimants in 2005. According to Kapoor, the document was wrongly issued in their favour and is now being used to assert rights over Sridevi’s farmhouse property.

The contested land has deep roots, tracing back to its original owner, M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar. His family had divided the property among three sons and two daughters through a mutual arrangement in 1960. Relying on this arrangement, Sridevi lawfully purchased the land on April 19, 1988, through a registered deed. Since then, the actor and her family had full possession and use of the property, which functioned as a farmhouse retreat.

Trouble surfaced years later when three individuals—claiming to be the second wife and children of one of Mudaliar’s sons—suddenly began asserting inheritance rights. To support their claims, they secured a legal heirship certificate from the Tambaram tahsildar in 2005.

Kapoor, however, has strongly contested the validity of their claims on multiple grounds. His petition argued that the tahsildar had no jurisdiction to issue such a certificate, since the original landowner was a resident of Mylapore. More importantly, he asserted that the so-called second marriage was not legally valid, making the trio ineligible as legal heirs under the Hindu Succession Act.

Presenting all necessary evidence to demonstrate that the purchase was genuine and duly registered, Kapoor urged the court to recognize the certificate as fraudulent. Justice Venkatesh, after considering both sides, instructed the Tambaram tahsildar to examine the matter thoroughly and deliver a conclusive decision within the stipulated four-week period.

As the battle unfolds, the dispute has drawn attention not only because of the legal complexities but also due to the emotional weight it carries—touching upon the legacy of one of Indian cinema’s most beloved stars, whose untimely passing in 2018 still resonates with millions of fans.

War 2’s failure has rattled YRF to its core, pushing the studio brass back to the drawing board. The film hasn’t just faced flak for its weak content; it’s also tanked theatrically, inflicting heavy financial losses on all stakeholders. And in a dramatic fallout, Aditya Chopra has already pulled the plug on the planned standalone film featuring NTR Jr., aka Agent Vikram.

A source close to the studio discreetly informed Bollywood Hungama, “YRF had ambitious plans to capitalize on the Pan India popularity of NTR Jr. and make a spin-off to the character of Agent Vikram. The creative team at YRF was already developing a standalone film for Agent Vikram, but the failure of War 2 has halted the entire process.”

In-fact, Aditya Chopra is clear not to proceed on the Agent Vikram spin-off, and will be redesigning the Spy Universe in the future. “Agent Vikram film is not a feasible move anymore, and Adi has conveyed the same to NTR Jr. The Man of Masses also agreed to Adi’s point of view and has parted ways with the banner on a very healthy note. He would not longer be a part of the Spy Universe, as the condition to sign on for War 2 was the possibility of a solo Agent Vikram film as a follow-up to War 2.”

The next Chapter of the YRF Spy Universe is Alpha with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, and the tentative release date is Christmas 2025.

In a quiet but impactful act of compassion, actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has stepped forward to help victims of the devastating flash floods that recently struck Uttarakhand. Working alongside the Gurugram-based non-profit Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation (BDRF), Akhtar provided much-needed relief in the form of 50 multimedia mobile phones to those displaced by the crisis.

Away from the media spotlight, Farhan Akhtar has quietly helped people in distress on several occasions. This time too, Divyanshu Upadhyay — who is associated with the Gurugram-based not-for-profit organisation Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation (BDRF) and has worked with Akhtar on different causes — reached out to him after the cloudburst-induced flash floods in Uttarakhand earlier this month left many families displaced. mid-day has learnt that the filmmaker and actor immediately lent a helping hand by sending 50 phones to the affected families in Harsil and Dharali.

Since the tragedy, the BDRF has been helping those affected by distributing rations and mattresses. Amid this, Upadhyay contacted Akhtar, requesting him for phones as many people could not establish contact with their near and dear ones. A source reveals, “Divyanshu messaged Farhan on August 10, and soon, the actor sent 50 multimedia phones, each worth Rs 7000. The phones came in handy as people had lost touch with their families as well as relatives. It helped them re-establish connection and let each other know of their condition. The BDRF had earlier distributed food, blankets, and mattresses.”

The source emphasises that the donation was not just practical, but also symbolic—a vital step toward restoring hope in anguish-filled times. A volunteer, who distributed the phones and has been part of the team working on ground since August 7, shares, “As they reconnected with their loved ones after being cut off for days, people felt not only a sense of relief but also less isolated. One could see the comfort it brought them as they reassured their families and extended families that they were okay. With several properties completely destroyed, many have been living in dharamshalas over the past few weeks and were struggling to touch base with families or relatives.”

According to ABP Live, the phones were sent following BDRF’s outreach to Akhtar and were each valued at approximately Rs 7,000. Multiple outlets have emphasised that these phones helped survivors in Harsil and Dharali—two regions badly affected by the flash floods—reconnect with loved ones, thereby delivering not only emotional relief but also a renewed sense of safety during the aftermath of one of Uttarakhand’s most severe weather episodes in recent memory
