Another rare aspect of Sikandar is its Sunday release. A source earlier told Bollywood Hungama, “The makers are confident that it’s the correct day for release. Sunday will be a big holiday, more so in Maharashtra as Gudi Padwa falls on that day. Meanwhile, Ramzan Eid will be celebrated on Monday, March 31. There’ll be a post-Eid holiday effect on Tuesday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 2 in many centres as well. The collections will again see a jump from Friday, April 4. Hence, until Sunday, April 6, the film’s collections will remain very strong.”

Two days later, we broke the viral news that Sikandar will have a release in cinemas on Sunday, March 30. A day later, the makers officially announced the release date with a poster. And now, it has come to light that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has passed both the theatrical trailer and the final cut of the film today, that is, March 21.

The theatrical trailer of Sikandar is 3 minutes and 38 seconds long, as per the certificate. The film, meanwhile, has a run time of 150.8 minutes, that is, 2 hours 30 minutes and 8 seconds. Ektaa R Kapoor slams Indian creators blaming Indian content for not being ‘on par’ with international content; says, “I wonder if it’s ego, anger, or just misplaced accusations”

Renowned producer Ektaa R Kapoor recently took to social media to express her strong opinions on the state of the Indian entertainment industry. In a series of posts, she addressed the criticism Indian content faces compared to international productions, the audience’s role in film failures, and the corporate-driven nature of the industry.

Kapoor began by questioning Indian creators who claim that Indian content isn’t on par with globally acclaimed films and TV series. “When Indian creators cry that Indian content is not at par with internationally acclaimed TV series n films… I wonder if it’s ego, anger, or just misplaced accusations.”

In another post, she discussed the underwhelming theatrical performance of films like Superboys of Malegaon and The Buckingham Murders, directed by Hansal Mehta. Kapoor sarcastically pointed out how blaming the audience is ineffective, saying, “Can we blame the real culprits, the ‘audiences’?” She further noted, “Since it’s no fun blaming people in such abstract terms (can’t bring them down on social media, na, so no fun), let’s just say the major part of India is in its evolutionary stage as far as content is concerned. You can say it’s in its adolescence.”

Her most striking statement came in her critique of corporate studios and streaming platforms. Kapoor passionately urged creators to “fight the system,” accusing industry giants of prioritizing numbers over creativity. “Terrible of us studios and all the apps to treat entertainment like an industry! Movie-making and content creation is not a business. It’s an art,” she wrote. Kapoor even called for creators to fund their own projects, saying, “I urge creators to put their own money. Problem solved!”

While Kapoor did not directly reference any individuals, her comments come in the wake of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s recent criticisms of the Hindi film industry. Kashyap expressed his disillusionment with Bollywood’s focus on massive box office returns, stating that “everyone is chasing unrealistic targets, trying to make the next Rs 500 or Rs 800 crore film.” He lamented that this obsession has led to a toxic environment, causing him to relocate to South India in search of a more creatively stimulating atmosphere.

Air India responds to Lisa Ray’s complaint, says actor’s claims are ‘unfounded’

Actor Lisa Ray had posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, calling out Air India for denying the medical waiver for her ailing father. The following day, the airline responded, stating that the actor’s claims were “unfounded.” The statement also highlighted that Lisa had not opted for some of the alternative solutions that were offered to her after the cancellation.

In a statement, an Air India spokesperson said, “While fully empathizing with the passenger, we would like to present the following clarifications:”

The claim that Air India did not display empathy for her unwell father is unfounded, as the passenger herself mentioned that she is booked to fly Air India with two other co-passengers, that does not include her father, whose medical documents she has submitted.
The passenger had purchased the ticket from a travel agent and had first reached out to the travel agent, and not to Air India.
After the passenger raised the issue to Air India, the Air India team reached out to her and, as an exception, offered solutions including a free date change or a one-year period to utilise the tickets for future travel. She declined the offer and requested for a full refund of her ticket, instead.

The statement concluded, “We urge the media to restrain itself from maligning the reputation of the airline without corroborating facts. Air India flies millions of passengers and such misleading news reports belie the airline’s resolve to customer centricity and empathy.”

In her X post, Lisa had written, “Here we go again @airindia My father is 92, unwell and I have to cancel travel due to his ailing condition. Submitted doctors letter and the waiver was denied? How is that possible? Where is the empathy from an airline that is claiming to care about passengers???” She later received a response from Air India’s official X account, after which she shared a screenshot of the medical emergency.

Mumbai police file case against Chhaava piracy over 1,818 leaked links under scanner

The Mumbai Police have announced that a case has been filed against unidentified individuals for the unauthorized distribution of the Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava. The complaint was filed by Rajat Rahul Haksar (37), CEO of August Entertainment, an anti-piracy agency hired by Maddock Films. Haksar flagged 1,818 internet links through which the historical film was made available.

Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has become one of the biggest hits in recent years.

The case has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Copyright Act, Cinematograph Act, and Information Technology Act, with the South Region Cyber Police, based on the complaint of the CEO of the anti-piracy agency.

The official stated, “Our probe has found that unidentified persons have created 1,818 internet links to circulate the film, thereby violating copyright laws and also impacting its theatrical distribution. Cyber police as begun tracking down IP addresses of these links.”

Chhaava is an Indian Hindi-language historical action film, released on February 14, 2025.

The film is an adaptation of Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel of the same name and narrates the story of Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire, played by Vicky Kaushal.

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films, the cast of Chhaava also includes Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna.

Ever since the controversy surrounding Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb gained traction and violent clashes erupted in Nagpur, Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava has seen a slowdown at the box office.

As per the industry tracker Sacnilk.com, Chhaava earned approximately ₹1.67 crore (India net) on its thirty-fifth day across all languages. The film had an overall 8.57 percent Hindi occupancy on Thursday.

Prerna Arora responds to Jaya Bachchan’s remarks on Toilet: Ek Prem Katha; says, “I am a huge fan, but this hurts”

Jaya Bachchan never minces words. Most of the time, people appreciate her outspokenness. However, her recent statement calling the 2017 Akshay Kumar-starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha an inappropriately titled flop has not gone down well with some.

The film’s co-producer, Prerna Arora, is hurt by the remark. “Let me first state that I am a huge, HUGE fan of Jayaji. For me, she is the ultimate. I can watch Guddi, Uphaar, Abhimaan, and Mili anytime, anywhere, and feel happy about life. It is, therefore, very hurtful to hear her say that our film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was a flop. Ma’am should check the box office figures. Our film earned a very handsome profit. It was one of the five biggest hits of 2017.”

As for the title, Prerna reveals that it was retained after considerable debate. “We weren’t sure about the title at first. It seemed risky to have the word ‘toilet’ in the title, especially before ‘A Love Story.’ But eventually, we settled on the edgy title. As a producer, I have taken risks. What is cinema if it only sticks to the expected? Jaya Ma’am took risks with her role choices all the time. She did Doosri Sita, where she played a woman who murders her abusive husband.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a film I am very proud of. I would love to show it to Jaya Ma’am if she would permit.”

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Unofficial’ Cinema Lovers Day on March 21; for the FIRST time ever, IMAX tickets priced at Rs. 149; Tumko Meri Kasam first film to offer BOGO + cheap tickets combo deal

National Cinema Day and Cinema Lovers Day had a huge impact on footfalls at one point. But the last Cinema Lovers Day, which was held on January 17, failed to entice and this had led to a question mark on whether it still has the same pull. Nevertheless, today, Friday, March 21, is the day when most theatres across the country are selling tickets for cheap rates. But unlike the previous instances, there has been no declaration by the theatres or Multiplex Association of India about this scheme.

Yesterday, the makers of The Diplomat announced that the John Abraham-starrer’s tickets would be available for flat Rs. 99 on March 21. The offer is valid on normal seats and not on luxury format classes or screens. A few hours before the announcement, Chhaava makers also informed the viewers that their film, too, can be watched at reasonable prices.

Soon, it came to light that the tickets for all the new and holdover releases would be priced reasonably. The maximum ticket price of Superboys Of Malegaon, Crazxy and the new films like Tumko Meri Kasam and Pintu Ki Pappi are available for Rs. 150 while the morning shows are priced at Rs. 99 or Rs. 112. Those venturing out to see Tumko Meri Kasam, starring Anupam Kher, Ishwak Singh, Esha Deol and Adah Sharma, will be in for a treat as besides cheap tickets, they can also avail of the Buy One Ticket Get One Free offer. The BOGO scheme is available until Sunday, March 23.

This is probably the first time that BOGO and Cinema Lovers Day offers have been given to moviegoers. Another first is that the IMAX tickets of the new Hollywood release Snow White and the successful re-release Interstellar are available for just Rs. 149. This price point is fixed only for morning shows and that too in select IMAX screens like PVR Lower Parel, Eros Churchgate and Inox R City Ghatkopar. Yet, it’s significant as during the previous National Cinema Day and Cinema Lovers Day celebrations, the IMAX tickets were sold for Rs. 199.

Meanwhile, some multiplexes will see a heavy rush this weekend due to the Red Lorry Film Festival 2025. It’ll be held from March 21 to 23 in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Besides old classics, it’ll also be showing Oscar-winning films, Anora and Emilia Pérez. These films were never released in India theatrically due to Censor issues. Hence, this is a golden chance to see them on the big screen.

On the other hand, the dry period effect is kicking in for some cinemas. The management of Mumbai’s iconic theatre, Gaiety-Galaxy aka G7 multiplex, has shut the biggest screen, Gaiety, until March 29 due to a lack of exciting releases. As per sources, Gaiety will resume operations with the release of Salman Khan’s grand Eid release, Sikandar.

Manoj Bajpayee teams up with American director Ben Rekhi for Rana Daggubati-produced film: Report

Bollywood veteran Manoj Bajpayee is set to headline an exciting new project, a yet-untitled Hindi social drama directed by American filmmaker Ben Rekhi. Rekhi brings his unique storytelling vision to this collaboration, marking his first venture with Bajpayee. Adding to the anticipation, the film is produced by South Indian cinema star Rana Daggubati, who steps into his inaugural partnership with the Bollywood star.

Reportedly, this upcoming movie promises to be a compelling exploration of social issues, woven through the lens of a relatable family narrative. According to a report by Mid-Day, Rekhi has penned the story himself, crafting a role that perfectly aligns with Bajpayee’s reputation for portraying complex, grounded characters. “Manoj plays a common man whose family lands in trouble, leading him to fight for a cause,” the report quoted a source. “Through the family’s journey, the story highlights a pressing social issue.”
A Match Made in Cinematic Heaven
Manoj Bajpayee was reportedly captivated by the project from the moment it was pitched to him. Bajpayee has built a career on choosing roles that resonate deeply with audiences. “When Rana and Ben narrated the story to him, he said yes immediately,” the source added.
Rana Daggubati’s Bollywood Venture
The film also marks a significant milestone for Rana Daggubati, a prominent name in Telugu cinema. While details about the film’s title, cast, and release date remain under wraps, the buzz surrounding this trio’s partnership is already generating excitement among fans.
What’s Next?
As of now, the film is in the pre-production phase, with more details expected to emerge in the coming months. Given Bajpayee’s packed schedule—following the wrap-up of The Family Man 3 earlier this year—and Rekhi’s meticulous approach to direction, anticipation is building for an official announcement.

Ajay Devgn starrer Raid 2 teaser set to drop with Salman Khan’s Sikandar on Eid: Report

Bollywood fans are in for a double treat this Eid as Ajay Devgn gears up to unveil the much-anticipated teaser of Raid 2 alongside Salman Khan’s action-packed Sikandar. According to an exclusive report by Pinkvilla, the Raid 2 teaser is set to make its grand debut both digitally and on the big screen, promising to kick off the promotional campaign for this high-stakes sequel with a bang. Here’s everything we know about this exciting development.

A Strategic Big-Screen Launch with Sikandar
Scheduled for a theatrical release on May 1, 2025, Raid 2 is poised to be one of Bollywood’s biggest releases of the year. The makers, including Ajay Devgn, Kumar Mangat, and Bhushan Kumar, leave no stone unturned to ensure maximum reach. A source quoted by Pinkvilla revealed, “Ajay Devgn, Kumar Mangat, and Bhushan Kumar are reaching out directly to the audience with the communication of being the next big-ticket releases for the big screen. Being a quintessential Hero vs Villain story, the makers are aiming to reach out to the least common denominator.”

To amplify its visibility, the Raid 2 teaser will be screened alongside Salman Khan’s Sikandar, which is slated to hit theaters on March 30, 2025, during the Eid festivities. This strategic move leverages Salman Khan’s massive Eid audience pull, ensuring that the teaser reaches a wide and diverse crowd. The source added, “While a digital launch will take place towards the end of next week, audiences will get to see it on the big screen from March 30.”

The Raid 2 team has reportedly secured a lucrative deal with multiplex owners to ensure the teaser gets prime visibility across major cinema chains. Additionally, the Key Delivery Message (KDM) for the teaser will be shared with single-screen theater owners, giving them the flexibility to screen it at their discretion.
Raid 2: A High-Stakes Hero vs. Villain Showdown
Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, Raid 2 is a sequel to the 2018 hit Raid, which saw Ajay Devgn portray the unflinching IRS officer Amay Patnaik. Based on a real-life income tax raid from the 1980s, the first installment was a critical and commercial success. Building on this legacy, Raid 2 promises an even more intense narrative, pitting Ajay Devgn against Riteish Deshmukh in a gripping face-off.
Digital Drop and Release Timeline
Fans won’t have to wait long to catch a glimpse of Raid 2. The teaser’s digital launch is slated for the end of next week, giving audiences an early taste of the action and drama to come. Following its theatrical screening with Sikandar on March 30, the buildup to the May 1 release is expected to intensify, with a full trailer reportedly dropping by mid-April.
What to Expect from Raid 2
Shot across multiple locations including Mumbai, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, Raid 2 is currently in post-production. The film promises a larger-than-life experience with high-octane action, a complex case, and Ajay Devgn’s signature intensity as Amay Patnaik. As the countdown to Eid begins, Bollywood enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement for both Sikandar and the Raid 2 teaser.
