Bigg Boss 18, known for its drama, went on to garner much attention recently during the eviction of Sara Arfeen Khan. The actress-host came under the radar when she allegedly pushed and pulled co-contestants during a task and when Karan Veer Mehra attempted to stop her, Khan turned the tables and accused him of hurting her, further threatening to sue Bigg Boss for this.

During a certain ski board task, where contestants were supposed to compete on a racecourse, Sara Arfeen Khan was disqualified which further agitated her and she was seen pulling and pushing contestants off the ski board, causing chaos during the activity. In the process, while Chum Darang was about to get hurt, Karan Veer Mehra tried to stop it by pulling Sara away from there, that left Khan extremely angry. During the same, the actress-host fell down and she went on to accuse Karan of causing the fall.

Later, when she was confronted by Vivian DSena about the same, Sara insisted that she was scared and alone during the task which caused to react and protect herself, during which Karan pulled and manhandled her. After the same, Sara revealed that she would contact her lawyers if Bigg Boss didn’t take any action over what happened to her. Meanwhile, it is being said that Sara was also agitated during the task owing to her elimination. As of now, the housemates seem divided over their support towards Sara and Karan Veer Mehra.

After several eliminations and evictions, the house currently holds Vivian DSena, Eisha Singh, Avinash Mishra, Chum Darang, Shrutika Arjun, Karan Veer Mehra, Chaahat Pandey, Kashish, Rajat Dalal, as key contestants.

The much-awaited film Baby John, starring Varun Dhawan, is having a disappointing run at the box office. It opened on Wednesday, December 25 at Rs. 11.25 crores, which was below expectations. Yet, there was hope that it would hold well the next day, which was also a working day. Shockingly, the number plummeted to Rs. 5.13 crores. On Friday, the numbers should have been the same or grown. Instead, the collections went further down. At this rate, its weekend collections would be under Rs. 30 crores and it won’t get the benefit of the holiday season and clean period until Republic Day. Realizing that the footfalls are not encouraging, theatres have already started replacing the shows of the film.

An exhibition source told Bollywood Hungama, “On Thursday, the film suffered a huge drop which made it clear for the exhibitors that it won’t even grow on Friday. As a result, cinemas across the country have reduced its showcasing. Meanwhile, the Hindi version of the Malayalam film Marco is gradually gaining traction. There’s a curiosity to see it as many are claiming that Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ultra-violent film Animal (2023), looks like a kiddie movie, in front of Marco because of its excessive violent scenes. Hence, there’s a demand for it and Baby John’s shows are being replaced with that of Marco and also films like Pushpa 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King.”

MovieMax Wonder Mall, Thane, near Mumbai will play 5 shows of Marco in Hindi on Sunday, December 29 while Baby John will have only 3 shows. In Mumbai’s popular G7 multiplex, Baby John was initially playing in 1000-seater Gaiety and also 2 shows in Gossip. The Varun Dhawan-starrer has now been shifted to Galaxy, which has 200 seats less than Gaiety while Pushpa 2 is back again in Gaiety. Exhibition sources say that on the weekdays, Baby John’s showcasing will be further reduced.

The curious case of CP Berar

Meanwhile, PVR Inox Pictures, the distributors of Baby John, have also come under the scanner for their faulty distribution strategy. They were unable to plan the showcasing on time and faced the heat from Anil Thadani’s AA Films, the distributors of Pushpa 2, who gave them a tough fight. And now, it has come to light that in a major part of India, Baby John barely got any single-screen cinemas.

A trade source told us, “The CP Berar territory consists of the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, Southern and Eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. There are 275 single screens in this circuit and shockingly, Baby John is playing in only 4 single-screen theatres! Baby John is a mass-appealing film and should have got showcasing in at least 30% of the single screens, if not more. Alas, the distributors were able to procure less than 3% of the screens. This is unprecedented.”

While he is directing Golmaal 5 next, we hear that Rohit Shetty is all set to produce a film based on the life of real life hero Rakesh Maria. According to reliable sources, Rohit Shetty has a long term equation with the former Join Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Rakesh Maria and is making a biopic on his life to pay tribute to his heroics.

“Rohit Shetty is fulfilling his long-term commitment of making a biopic on Rakesh Maria, who has been a pillar of support for Rohit through the research of all his cop universe film. The script is locked and Rohit is all set to take the film on floors in Summer 2025,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.

The film will be lead by John Abraham and the actor will be playing the titular role of Super Cop Rakesh Maria in the film. “John is charged up to collaborate with Rohit Shetty. This won’t be a part of cop universe, but be a universe in itself, as Rakesh Maria is the most celebrated cop of real-life cop universe,” the source told us further.

This would be next for Rohit Shetty production after Singham Again and will hit the big screen in 2026.

On the evening of Thursday, December 26, Salman Khan unveiled a rocking poster of his much-awaited film Sikandar and reiterated that its teaser would be out a day later, on Friday, December 27. The date was perfect as it coincided with the superstar’s birthday. Fans waited with bated breath for 11:07 am on December 27, the time when the teaser was going to drop digitally. However, a few hours later, Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away all of a sudden, which led the team of Sikandar to postpone the teaser release by 24 hours. The fans, as expected, are upset over the delay but industry insiders have praised Salman Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala for the step.

An insider told Bollywood Hungama, “Salman Khan was shooting for Bigg Boss 18 on Thursday night when he learned about the demise of Manmohan Singh. He got on a call with Sajid Nadiadwala and both instantly decided that it wouldn’t be right to bring the teaser at a time when the country is mourning the passing of the ex-Prime Minister of India.”

Another industry person continued, “Salman Khan knew the date of December 27 holds a lot of significance for his fans. It would have been a double celebration for them with the launch of the promo. But then Salman is the man with a golden heart. He knew that he had to take the right step. Mr Sajid Nadiadwala was also of the same opinion and was happy that he and the star were on the same page. Both are hopeful that the fans will be in for a treat and will forget the pain of the postponement once the teaser drops tomorrow.”

Directed by A R Murugadoss of Ghajini (2008) fame, Sikandar also stars Rashmika Mandanna. It is all set to arrive in cinemas on Eid 2025.

Remembering Dr. Manmohan Singh

Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26 at the age of 92 due to age-related medical conditions. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, where he was admitted, released a statement confirming his demise. “With profound grief, we inform the demise of former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92. He was being treated for age-related medical conditions and had a sudden loss of consciousness at home on 26 December 2024,” the statement said. Despite resuscitative efforts, Dr. Singh could not be revived and was declared dead at 9:51 pm.

Dr. Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister for two consecutive terms from 2004 to 2014, was the architect of India’s economic liberalization policies in 1991. His calm and visionary leadership earned him immense respect across the political spectrum and among citizens. He is survived by his wife, Gurcharan Kaur, and three daughters.
