The advance booking of Pushpa 2 – The Rule began with a bang, as expected. The shows are fast filling across the country, even in circuits where advance booking is not the norm. Looking at the excitement, the makers and distributors have decided to make the most of the opportunity. As per trade sources, the theatres have been asked to sell tickets at the highest rates possible.

As a result, moviegoers are shocked to see the inflated prices of the tickets for Pushpa 2 – The Rule. Maison PVR located in Jio World Drive, BKC, Mumbai has taken the cake. The posh theatre is selling tickets of the 7:35 pm and 11:35 pm show in the Luxe audi for, believe it or not, Rs. 3000! This is possibly the highest rate for Pushpa 2 – The Rule in India. Even the Director’s Cut theatres of PVR in Delhi-NCR, which are known for its sky-high prices, are making tickets available for Rs. 2400.

In the past, Oppenheimer (2023) had set a record when its tickets in the recliner class at PVR IMAX Lower Parel, Mumbai were sold for Rs. 2450. As for Pushpa 2 – The Rule, its IMAX version tickets are priced at a maximum of Rs. 1600 at PVR Lower Parel while the cheapest ticket of IMAX is priced at Rs. 400 and Rs. 450 at the newly opened Miraj Cinemas IMAX Wadala.

Even in single screens, the prices have gone through the roof. Yesterday, Bollywood Hungama reported that for the first time, Gaiety-Galaxy aka G7 multiplex theatres have increased the rates to Rs. 200, Rs. 20 more than the highest rate of the cinema hall in the past. The humble Plaza Cinema in Mumbai has normally priced the sofa tickets for Rs. 350 and recliners at Rs. 450. But for 2:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm shows of Pushpa 2 – The Rule, one will have to shell Rs. 600 for the sofa seats and Rs. 700 for the recliners.

While the ticket prices for Pushpa 2 – The Rule have left many moviegoers stunned, the surging demand seems to justify the exhibitors’ decision to capitalize on the frenzy. It might feel unfair to some, but with the audience willing to pay a premium for the experience, exhibitors are merely responding to market dynamics. Ultimately, the packed advance bookings indicate that for fans eagerly awaiting this cinematic spectacle, the inflated prices are a small price to pay for the excitement of watching their favourite character on the big screen.

Actor Rajkummar Rao is set to team up with director Aditya Nimbalkar for a dark comedy film that will stream exclusively on Netflix. The untitled project, set against the backdrop of a murder, marks Rajkummar Rao’s debut as a producer. If a report by PinkVilla is something to go by, then scheduled to begin shooting in January 2025, the film is expected to premiere on Netflix by the end of the same year.

Rajkummar Rao Ventures into Production
After a successful 2024, with critically acclaimed performances in Srikanth and Stree 2, Rajkummar Rao has taken a bold step into production. The report quoted a source saying that the actor was so impressed by the script of this dark comedy that he decided to produce the film himself, collaborating with Netflix on a direct-to-digital deal.

“It’s a dark comedy set against the backdrop of a murder. Rajkummar Rao loved the subject so much that he decided to produce it himself. The screenplay is filled with twists and turns, offering a fresh perspective on the genre,” revealed a source close to the development.
Aditya Nimbalkar’s Vision for the Netflix Original
Aditya Nimbalkar, known for Sector 36, will direct the film. His collaboration with Rajkummar Rao promises to bring a new flavour to the murder-mystery genre. The project is said to be a tightly knit narrative, blending suspense with dark humour.
What’s Next for Rajkummar Rao?
While this Netflix original is generating buzz, Rajkummar Rao has more in store for his fans. The actor is currently filming Malik, directed by Pulkit, and has reportedly signed on for another exciting project, details of which will be revealed soon.

Karan Johar is all set for his 2.0 version after the investment from Adar Poonawala and is rolling with feature films left right and center. The maverick producer took a film with R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh on floors in November and the media speculated the title of the film to be Tharki. However, according to our highly placed sources, Tharki is not the title of this rom-com.

A source informed Bollywood Hungama, “Karan Johar’s next with R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh is directed by Vivek Soni, best known for Meenakshi Sundareshwar. After contemplating the title Tharki, the film is now called Aap Jaisa Koi. Karan is a big fan of this song and has decided to go ahead with the title.”

The source further says, “The title blends well with the concept of the film, where a 40-year-old fans in love with a woman in her early 30s. The duo meet on a dating app, and the story takes off from there. The film is set in Mumbai and Kolkata.”

The film will see a direct-to-digital premiere on Netflix in 2025, taking forward the journey of Dharma’s association with the streaming platform.

However, in his emotional note, Akshay has insisted that they have decided to take this step after much contemplation, asserting that they will continue to co-parent their two-year-old daughter.

Akshay Kharodia took to Instagram to share a beautiful photo from their wedding in Dehradun and shared a note saying, “Hello everyone, With a heavy heart, I want to share a deeply personal update. Marking the debut of two new faces – Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani, the Abhishek Kapoor directorial titled Azaad has received much love from audience after the team unveiled its teaser. While fans were eagerly awaiting the release date, the wait has come to an end since the makers unveiled the same on November 30. As per the announcement, the film, that also stars Ajay Devgn, will release on January 17.

On Saturday, producer Ronnie Screwvala took to the social media platform Twitter aka X, to share this good news with fans wherein he unveiled a new poster of the film offering a sneak peek into the romance between the characters played by Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani, along with a brief glimpse of Ajay Devgn. As showcased in the teaser, Azaad is a historical romance drama set in pre-Independence India with Rasha Thadani playing the role of a rich and wealthy girl and Azaad as a powerful warrior. The film is expected to explore the beautiful human-animal bond along with multiple aspects like showcasing India during the British rule and, of course, a love story at its core.

Azaad is directed by Abhishek aka Gattu Kapoor and along with Ajay Devgn, the film will also star Diana Penty in a key role. The proud Bollywood star had earlier expressed his excitement as his nephew is making his acting debut along with his former co-star Raveena Tandon also sharing her happiness about daughter’s debut as well. The advance booking of Pushpa 2 – The Rule has finally begun today with a bang and shows are getting fast filled. Yesterday, at the Mumbai event, lead actor Allu Arjun announced that the film will be released in a record 12,000 screens. And now the film has set another record, in Mumbai’s G7 multiplex, popularly known as Gaiety-Galaxy.

Pushpa 2 – The Rule will be shown in all 6 screens of this cinema complex, that is Gaiety, Galaxy, Gemini, Gossip, Gem and Glamour. In the past, films have often been shown in Gaiety and Galaxy or Gaiety and Gemini/Gossip. But for the first time, all six screens will be showing just one film.

In the approx. 1000-seater Gaiety, Pushpa 2 – The Rule will be played at 1:00 pm, 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm. In approx. 800-seater Galaxy, it will be played at 12:00 noon, 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

In Gemini, a 255 seater, 2:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 10:00 are it’s show timings. In 105-seater Gossip, it has three shows a day – 11:30 am, 3:30 pm, 7:30 pm. Gem, which has 47 seats, will play the film at 12:30 pm, 4:30 pm and 8:30 pm. Finally, in the 46-seater Glamour, the show timings are 1:30 pm, 5:30 pm and 9:30 pm.

In short, Pushpa 2 – The Rule will have a record 18 shows daily, which has never happened before in the history of Gaiety-Galaxy in 52 years.

The decision to do so is mainly due to lack of other films and the 200 minute run time of the film. Hence, only 3 shows can be accommodated in each theatre.

Meanwhile, for the first time, Gaiety-Galaxy to sell tickets for Rs. 200. The rates at this reasonably priced cinema has never crossed Rs. 170. The stall tickets at Gaiety and Galaxy, however, will be available for Rs. 180.

A 32-year-old woman has accused Bollywood actor Sharad Kapoor, best known for his roles in films like Josh, Tamanna, Dastak, Trishakti, and Iski Topi Uske Sar, of attempted sexual harassment. Reportedly, the woman filed a formal complaint with the Khar police, who have registered a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code) and are now investigating the matter.

The Allegations Against Sharad Kapoor
According to the woman’s statement, she was invited to Sharad Kapoor’s residence under the pretext of discussing professional work. However, upon arriving at what she believed to be a meeting location, she discovered that it was, in fact, the actor’s personal home. The victim, who is also an actor and producer, claimed that Sharad Kapoor invited her into his bedroom and attempted to hug her inappropriately.

The woman described the sequence of events as follows: after entering the building in Khar, she was directed to the actor’s bedroom, where she reportedly found Sharad sitting unclothed. Shocked by the situation, she reportedly asked him to dress and proceed with their discussion in a professional manner. The actor allegedly attempted to hold her from behind in an inappropriate manner, but she managed to push him away and flee the scene.
Police Action and FIR Registration
The woman immediately sought help from the Khar police and lodged an official complaint. Based on her statement, the Khar police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Sharad Kapoor under Section 74 (Assault or use of criminal force against a woman), Section 75 (Sexual Harassment), and Section 79 (Insult the modesty of any woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The police have now initiated an investigation into the matter. As of now, Sharad Kapoor has not issued any statement regarding the allegations made against him.
