Just a few moments ago, it was revealed that the Shahid Kapoor starrer Deva which occupied the release date in the first week of February, was preponed to January last week. Now it has been revealed that the Valentine’s Week and the date February 14 has been taken over by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. Their ambitious historical drama Chhaava starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna will be releasing on the special day and there is a reason! Readers would be aware that Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report that the film can release next year on February 14.

Readers would be aware that the much-talked about film was expected to release this year in December. However, considering that the final month of 2024 is occupied with a multitude of releases including actioners like Pushpa 2: The Rule and Baby John, makers Maddock Films have decided to shift the release date of Chhaava. The film’s release is now pushed further for two months in February. Moreover, we hear that the special date which has been selected by the makers have a significance. While it is assumed that the makers will be cashing in on the Valentine’s Week, it is being said that the date holds significance to the story as it is a date closer to Chhatrapati Sivaji Maharaj Jayanti that falls on February 19.

Readers would be aware that Chhaava revolves around the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and is based on the book by the same name, written by Shivaji Sawant. With Vicky Kaushal leading the cast, the film will also explore his chemistry with actress Rashmika Mandanna for the first time, as she plays his wife Yesubai. Akshaye Khanna too will be marking his return to theatres after Drishyam 2 as he will be seen in the key role of Aurangazeb. Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is expected to be a magnum opus mounted on a massive scale and will now release on February 14.

After the much success that Shahid Kapoor enjoyed with his 2024 Valentine’s Day release Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Ulja Jiya, the actor was expected to return to theatres yet again on the same occasion in 2025. The actor was said to be seen in the actioner Deva which will also feature Pooja Hegde as the leading lady. However, news is that fans will be able to see the actor in theatres, a few days sooner.

While earlier the makers had asserted that they wanted to add some action in the Valentine’s week, it seems that they decided to prepone the release. However, now we hear that Zee Studios and Roy Kapur films have jointly reached the decision that the film will be releasing in the last week of January. Sources revealed that Deva, which is all set to provide adrenaline rush as Zee Studios and Roy Kapur Films’ much-anticipated high-octane action thriller, will now be releasing cinemas now on January 31, 2025. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also confirmed the news in his tweet.

For the unversed, the action entertainer will mark the return of Shahid Kapoor in theatres after almost a year. The actor will be playing the role of a cop in this film and fans will also get to see his chemistry with Pooja Hegde for the first time. Also starring Pavail Gulati and Kubbra Sait in key roles, it is directed by acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews and produced by Zee Studios and Siddharth Roy Kapur. Promising to feature gripping performances along with a power-packed storyline designed to keep audiences at the edge of their seats, Deva is set to be an unforgettable cinematic experience. The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa has turned out to be a memorable affair. It started with a bang and was filled with memorable film premiers and panel discussions. Numerous celebrities from Bollywood and Hollywood made their presence felt. And if you feel that the starry presence at IFFI this year is over, you are mistaken. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned that the closing ceremony on Thursday, November 28, will also be a star-studded affair.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “One of the biggest superstars of India, Allu Arjun, will grace the closing ceremony of IFFI this year. He’ll be joined by Rashmika Mandanna, his Pushpa 2 co-star. The much-awaited film releases next Thursday, December 5. Their presence is sure to add to the excitement surrounding IFFI and also that of the film.”

There are many more celebrities attending IFFI. The source continued, “Pratik Gandhi and Vikrant Massey will also be present at the closing ceremony. Another exciting factor of the closing ceremony is the presence of the Bandish Bandits team. The season 2 releases in December and as part of its promotions, Ritwik Bhowmik, Shreya Chaudhry, Mame Khan, Nikhita Gandhi and Digvijay Singh Rathee will perform live.”

Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 5 marks a milestone as the first franchise to reach its fifth installment. It is packed with five times the entertainment, fun, and comedy. It is one of the big-budget film shot on a luxurious cruise starting from London to France to Spain and back to the UK.

Actor Sunny Deol is heading back to the sets of Lahore 1947 after the perfectionist actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan suggested key additions to enhance the film. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the project delves into the emotional upheaval and resilience of individuals during the Partition.

Aamir Khan’s Vision for Lahore 1947
Aamir Khan, who is producing the film, reviewed the first cut of Lahore 1947 and felt certain sequences could benefit from heightened dramatic intensity. A report by Mid-Day quoted a source close to the production saying, “Aamir shared his thoughts with Rajkumar Santoshi, and they agreed on incorporating additional shots to elevate the visual and emotional impact. The changes aim to ensure the narrative is as compelling as the story demands.”
Sunny Deol Aligns Schedule for Patch Shoot
Sunny Deol, fresh from completing Jaat, readily adjusted his schedule for the patch shoot. A crew member revealed, “The team will film a song and additional scenes that will amplify crucial moments in the story. A set for the song will be constructed at Mehboob Studios starting December 1, with filming expected to last 10 to 15 days. Sunny sir will complete these scenes before traveling to Kashmir for the Border 2 shoot.”

Lahore 1947 also stars Preity Zinta and promises a gripping portrayal of the Partition’s impact. The film captures the chaos, pain, and resilience of those affected.

They moved into their new office where a pooja was held to mark the new chapter in their lives. As expected, Ajay Devgn, the close confidante and associate of Kumar Mangat Pathak, graced his presence.

Ajay Devgn, clad in a white t-shirt, looked dashing as he posed with Kumar Mangat Pathak and his son Abhishek Pathak. In another picture, Abhishek Pathak and his wife Shivaleeka Oberoi are seen attending the pooja.

Just five days later, I was scheduled to shoot for Khwaabon Ka Jhamela. I was in excruciating pain and fearful about how I’d manage.”

Renowned cinematographer Pankaj Kumar, known for visually stunning films like Tumbbad and Ship of Theseus, is stepping into the director’s chair with Konyak, a tribal action drama set in the culturally rich landscapes of northeast India. Selected for the prestigious NFDC Screenwriters Lab 2024 at Film Bazaar, the project marks Kumar’s highly anticipated feature directorial debut.

A Vision Rooted in Heritage
Konyak follows the journey of Thungpang, a young warrior who must navigate a deadly conflict between headhunting tribes. Guided by prophetic visions, he confronts betrayal and honor as he faces Sangba, a former friend turned enemy. Written by Uddhav Ghosh, the film delves into themes of identity, resilience, and heritage.

Ghosh, whose travels in Nagaland inspired the story, described the vision behind the project. A report by Variety quoted him saying, “The vision was always clear – to create an action epic that felt raw, unfiltered, and steeped in authenticity, drawing on the primal storytelling of films like Fury Road and Apocalypto. With Pankaj Kumar now on board as director, his visual mastery elevates this film into the cinematic spectacle it deserves to be.”
Kumar’s Take on Directing Konyak
Pankaj Kumar, whose cinematography credits include Brahmastra Part One: Shiva and Talvar, expressed his excitement about the project: “The vision for Konyak is to create something immersive and untamed, a film that lives and breathes on the big screen, where every frame tells a story of endurance and heritage. As a director, coming from a background in cinematography, this is the kind of project that lets me bring all those elements together.”

The film, which will be shot in Konyak Naga and Hindi languages, is a passion project for Kumar, produced through his newly founded Jiboom Studios.
Mentorship and Market Selection
The project has received guidance from script editor Claire Dobbin, who described it as: “Much more than an action movie. It is a compelling story of betrayal, courage, and resilience and shines a light on a little-known, but unforgettable people – the Konyak.”

Marten Rabarts, head of IFFR Pro at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and lab mentor, highlighted the film’s focus on indigenous narratives: “Uddhav Ghosh is exploring the long-overshadowed stories of indigenous First Nations people and in collaboration with them is helping unearth intense and complex histories.”
