Jacqueline Fernandez is set to share the screen space with action star Jean-Claude Van Damme in the upcoming action sequel Kill ‘Em All 2. The first trailer for the film, which Sony is releasing digitally on September 24, has revealed Fernandez’s role as Van Damme’s on-screen daughter, Vanessa.

The film takes place seven years after the events of Kill ‘Em All, with retired spy Phillip (Van Damme) living off the grid in Italy with Vanessa. Their peaceful life is interrupted when Vlad, the vengeful brother of their former target, discovers their location. As they fight to escape his army, Phillip and Vanessa must unite to protect themselves and the village Phillip once called home.

Speculation about a collaboration between Jean-Claude Van Damme and Jacqueline Fernandez first arose in September 2023 when a photo of the two went viral, but no official confirmation was made at the time. Now, with the trailer release, Fernandez’s Hollywood role has finally been confirmed.

Besides this Hollywood project, Jacqueline has an interesting line-up. She will be seen next in Welcome to the Jungle with Akshay Kumar. A Chandigarh court has issued notices to Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and others involved in the production of the film Emergency. The notices come in response to a complaint alleging that the film, directed by Ranaut, maligns the Sikh community and portrays the former Jathedar of the Akal Takth, a supreme religious authority of Sikhs, as a “terrorist.”

The complaint was filed by Advocate Ravinder Singh Bassi, president of the NGO Lawyers for Humanity, who claims that the film inaccurately represents historical events and disrespects the Sikh community.
Details of the Petition
In the plea, Bassi argued that the portrayal of the former Jathedar in the trailer of Emergency is factually incorrect. He stated, “The accused, without studying proper historical facts, had portrayed Sikhs in a negative light and falsely alleged that the sitting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takth Sahib was demanding a separate state. This depiction is completely false and intended to malign the image of Sikhs and the Akal Takth Jathedars.”

Bassi further noted that this portrayal “hurts the sentiments and feelings of the Sikh community in general and the deponent.” The petition accuses Ranaut of spreading misleading information and stoking tensions between communities.
Legal Action Against Kangana Ranaut
The petitioner has requested that an FIR be lodged against Ranaut and two other respondents under several sections of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. These include promoting enmity between groups on the basis of religion and spreading false information that could harm India’s sovereignty and unity. The Chandigarh court has asked Kangana Ranaut and the other respondents to submit their replies by December 5, 2024.

The complaint also accuses Ranaut, the film’s producer, and director of often creating controversies. “The actress, producer, and director of Emergency have repeatedly caused divisions between communities through provocative statements and speeches against minorities,” Bassi added.

The court will now await Kangana Ranaut’s and the others’ responses before proceeding with further hearings on the matter.

Vikrant Massey, Deepak Dobriyal starrer Sector 36, produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, seems to have taken the streaming world by storm, breaking into the Netflix Global Top Ten Films list in the Non-English category at #3 across 12 countries including India, Mauritius, Kuwait, Singapore, the UAE, and Qatar. The film, which is based on true events, earned widespread acclaim from many including critics and industry insiders, for its gripping performances and powerful storytelling.

Anees Bazmee’s No Entry managed to do the near-impossible. It did a sex comedy without overt sex and vulgarity. The upmarket, high profile star cast ensured a high quality, cleaned out satirical scenario freed of innuendos.

Farcical comedies about infidelity are not alien to Hindi cinema. B.R. Chopra’s Pati Patni Aur Woh gave the late and great Sanjeev Kumar a chance to do the incorrigible flirtatious husband with a deadpan ingenuity that his successors have found hard to replicate. The men are constantly chasing the women, while their spouses are constantly chasing their skirt-chasing husbands. The confusions of infidelity (including Boman Irani, doing another delightful little turn as an unctuous politician with a battleship for a wife) are examples of political incorrectness.

Recalling the No Entry experience Anees said, “No Entry got a lot of love. Everybody started saying that because of No Entry, I got an entry. It was a very, very special film, not only for me, for everyone, and it was made with such passion. The entire cast stood by me to help. Salman was supposed to be a guest but he shot for 12-15 days. I feel it was a great script, the way I sat and wrote it and when we even saw the trial of the film, everyone, all the actors were there, and we were together at Boney ji’s bungalow. Srideviji was also there.”

Anees remembers the reactions at the film’s first screening. “Everyone was like, yaar Anees bhai, you have made a beautiful comedy. It was a new concept for a comedy, it only depended on dialogues. There was no double meaning at all. I would never get dirty to draw in the audience. No Entry had a different style of comedy. So, it was great. When the film released, we released it under a lot of difficulties. Initially nobody knew it was released. But day by day the film grew. The film had its own strengths, and it grew by the day.

Anees says he had no difficulty directing such a vast cast. “It was not difficult to manage them. Anil ji knows me since the last…. I don’t remember how many years. I was assistant with Raj Kapoor saab. Boney ji also knows me from that time. Fardeen Khan was a very good friend. I had not worked with Salman, but I used to meet him, and I was always very friendly with him. I had a bonding with him, so he worked with me very lovingly.”

When is the sequel No Entry Mein Entry starting? “We want to start in January 2025 after Bhool Bhulaiya 3 is out in the world.”

The Pakistani film, The Legend of Maula Jatt starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, is set to grace Indian screens on October 2, 2024. This comes after two years since it released in theatres worldwide on October 13, 2022.

The film is a reimagining of the classic Punjabi folk tale of Maula Jatt, a legendary wrestler who battles against injustice and tyranny. Fawad Khan was reported to have delivered a stellar performance in the title role, Mahira Khan plays the role of Mukkho, a mysterious woman who becomes Maula Jatt’s love interest.

The Legend of Maula Jatt is a 2022 Pakistani Punjabi-language action-drama film directed by Bilal Lashari. It’s a reboot of the 1979 Lollywood film of the same name.  The film stars Fawad Khan as the titular character, Maula Jatt, a local folk hero who takes on his arch-nemesis, Noori Natt, played by Hamza Ali Abbasi. The film also features Mahira Khan, Humaima Malik, and Faris Shafi in supporting roles.

The Legend of Maula Jatt was a commercial and critical success, breaking numerous box-office records and becoming the highest-grossing Pakistani film of all time after it crossed Rs. 200 crores mark.

KA Enterprises LLP, a firm owned by Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and her father Prakash Padukone, has recently made a significant real estate investment, purchasing a luxury apartment in Mumbai’s Bandra West locality. The property, located in the Sagar Resham Co-operative Housing Society near the iconic Bandstand, was acquired for Rs. 17.78 crore, according to registration documents reviewed by Square Yards. Sagar Resham Co-operative Housing Society, developed by Enorm Nagpal Realty, offers premium 4 BHK and 5 BHK apartments.

As per Square Yards, the newly purchased apartment spans 171.47 square metres (~1,846 square feet) and comes with a designated car parking space. The deal incurred a stamp duty of nearly Rs. 1.07 crore and registration charges of Rs. 30,000. The transaction, completed in September 2024, was registered under KA Enterprises LLP, a global venture investment firm focusing on high-growth consumer and consumer-tech companies.

In a related transaction, Deepika’s mother-in-law, Anju Bhavnani, acquired an adjacent apartment in the same month for Rs. 19.13 crore. This property, spanning 1,822.45 square feet (~169 square metres) in carpet area, also includes one car parking space. The stamp duty for the deal amounted to Rs. 95.68 lakh, with a registration fee of Rs. 30,000.

Interestingly, on the day of the acquisition, Anju Bhavnani’s apartment was leased to her daughter Ritika Bhavnani and husband Jugjeet Singh Bhavnani. The lease, registered under R.S. Filmcraft (OPC) Pvt. Ltd. and Oh Five Oh Talent LLP, has a tenure of 55 months. The monthly rent has been set at Rs. 8.20 lakh for the first 33 months, rising by 15% to Rs. 9.43 lakh for the remaining 22 months. A security deposit of Rs. 73.80 lakh and a stamp duty of Rs. 1.29 lakh were also part of the agreement. Padukone’s husband Ranveer Singh already owns multiple floors in the same building purchased for a staggering Rs. 119 crores in 2022.

Deepika Padukone and Anju Bhavnani’s property transactions are the latest in a series of high-profile celebrity real estate deals in Bandra West. Square Yards noted that Bollywood stars and notable figures including Aamir Khan, Tripti Dimri, and K.L. Rahul along with Athiya Shetty have recently purchased properties in the area, with transaction values of Rs. 9.76 crore, Rs. 14 crore and Rs. 20 crore, respectively.

The report also claimed that their wedding could take place by the end of this year or in early 2025.

When asked about the wedding, the source mentioned that the couple is planning to get married by the year-end or early next year. Given that Aditi is Hindu and Fahmaan is Muslim, fans are curious whether the wedding will follow Hindu, Muslim, or a mix of both traditions. Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Varun Dhawan will unite to portray Indian Armed Forces officers in Anurag Singh’s upcoming film Border 2. As per a report in Pinkvilla, the action drama is set to begin shooting on November 25, with preparations underway for location scouting in North India, particularly Jammu and Srinagar. The team aims to film in authentic settings to capture a rustic atmosphere.

A source told the publication, “The pre-production work for Border 2 has been ongoing for almost a year now, and the team is finally gearing up to take the film on floors from November 25. Anurag Singh and his team are all set to start the recce for the film within a week, and the first two locations they have zeroed in on are Jammu and Srinagar.”

The source also revealed that the filmmakers are focused on filming dramatic moments and some action scenes in genuine locales to make it feel more authentic. The source added, “The idea is to make a high-octane yet authentic war film. Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta, along with director Anurag Singh, are leaving no stone unturned to bring to the spectacle a film that makes the cinema-going audience proud and celebrates the legacy of part one.”

While discussing plans to release the film on Republic Day 2026, the source mentioned that Sunny Deol’s team will be shooting in North India for six months. “The film will be shot over a 6-month period from November to May and is gearing up for a Republic Day 2026 release. Heavy planning is going into the logistics to pull off an action-heavy and cult franchise like this in a professional manner, sticking to the planned timelines,” the source added.

While JP Dutta directed the 1997 film, he has passed the responsibility for the sequel to his daughter Nidhi Dutta, who has written and produced it. Directed by Anurag Singh, the new film explores a different chapter of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war.
