Actor Vijay Deverakonda is set to make a powerful return to the big screen with Kingdom, a jaw dropping action drama that will hit cinemas nationwide on July 31. For Hindi-speaking audiences, the film will release under the title Saamrajya, offering a story of betrayal and retribution told on a grand scale.

Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, known for the critically acclaimed Jersey, the film sees Deverakonda in a role unlike anything he’s done before. Rugged and physically transformed, his character emerges from a violent past to take charge of a kingdom torn by deceit and broken loyalties.

“Saamrajya is about a man who never wanted the throne but is forced to rise because the world around him collapses. His scars tell the story of a world’s downfall and possibly its rebirth,” said Tinnanuri, speaking about the film’s emotional core.

Saamrajya is produced by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, with a Hindi release presented by Aditya Bhatia from Adwise Movies and Atul Rajani. The teaser released to millions of views within hours of it dropping. It features voiceovers by Jr NTR (Telugu), Suriya (Tamil), and Ranbir Kapoor (Hindi), giving it strong cross-language appeal. The
Hindi dubbed version will be released by AA films across territories in North India.

Adding to the film’s buzz is a first-of-its-kind AI-designed video which has already earned love in industry circles for its innovative vibe. The background score is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography by Girish Gangadharan and Jomon T. John.

The film also stars Satyadev and Bhagyashri Borse. Saamrajya will release in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil. With its high-octane action, and strong emotional core, the film is being positioned as one of the major Indian releases of 2025.

Vikrant Massey continues to push the envelope with each project. The actor is now set to take on one of the most challenging roles of his career — portraying global spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the upcoming biopic White.

According to recent reports, a close independent industry source shares, “Vikrant Massey is set to fly out next week to begin shooting for his next project, White, where he steps into the role of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The film is being mounted on a mega scale and will be shot predominantly in Colombo, nearly 90% of it, with key technicians and experts who’ve previously worked on Narcos.”

The movie will be produced under Siddharth Anand’s Marflix Pictures and Mahaveer Jain Films, along with Peacecraft Pictures. White is said to chronicle significant milestones from the spiritual leader’s life. From his teachings on peace and global harmony to his efforts in humanitarian work and conflict resolution, the film aims to present a nuanced and inspiring narrative. The production also brings on board an international crew to elevate the storytelling, further raising expectations.

Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most hardworking actors in Indian Cinema, who has invested over 30 years of his life in entertaining the audience. With young blood finding him an inspiration icon, the superstar continues to work hard every day. At the age of 60, Shah Rukh Khan was shooting for some intense action sequences at the Golden Tobacco studio in Mumbai, where he met with an accident leading to an injury.

“While exact details of the injury have been kept under wraps, Shah Rukh, along with his team, has travelled to the US for urgent medical attention. It’s nothing serious, but more of a muscular injury, as Shah Rukh over the years has injured multiple muscles of his body while performing stunts,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.

The source informed that post the surgery, SRK is advised to be advised to take a one-month break from work. “The next schedule of King will now begin in September/October as SRK has been advised to take time off for recovery. On completely recovering from the injury, he will hit sets again with full force,” the source told us.

We hear that the bookings to shoot for different parts of King from July to August in Film City, Golden Tobbaco & YRF have been cancelled until further notice. King is slated to be shot in India and Europe. More details on the shoot schedule are awaited

Khushi Kapoor, daughter of the late Sridevi and sister to actress Janhvi Kapoor, recently spoke candidly about her cosmetic enhancements, crediting her honesty with breaking stigma in the glamour industry.

In an interview with ETimes, Khushi addressed swirling rumours by stating plainly, “Yes, I have changed my looks. But everyone thinks I have done some 10–20 things on myself. It is obviously not the case. I don’t think going under the knife for your looks is such a big deal.”

The actor, who made her debut with The Archies, emphasised the importance of transparency, saying, “For me, it is not okay to be dishonest with people around me about my looks. There are a lot of impressionable youngsters who follow us on the internet.”

Khushi went on to point out the impossible expectations women often face, noting, “Plus, if we don’t do something about our looks, then it is a problem and people will judge you for your looks, and if we do something for ourselves, feeding your insecurities, then also people have a problem.” She argued that no path wins favour: “People will say that why did she change herself and did not stick to her original looks? So, you are not going to win either way. I am going to live my life the way I want to.”

Acknowledging that image-consciousness is part of the profession, Khushi added, “Also, I was not born like this and all actors groom themselves, and of course vanity is a large part of our life! I care about my looks, but haven’t changed every single thing about my face. I don’t want to set unrealistic standards of beauty and so I became open about the procedures I had done to look like this.”

Khushi’s openness — which includes admissions of nose work, eyebrow nanoblading and lip fillers — marks a shift in Bollywood’s typically secretive stance on cosmetic work. Her advocacy for honesty aims to foster realistic expectations for young fans and lessen the shame often attached to self-care.

Veteran filmmaker and actor Rakesh Roshan, father of Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan, recently underwent a medical procedure for a health issue concerning his neck. The 74-year-old was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital earlier this week, where doctors performed a carotid artery angioplasty — a procedure aimed at restoring proper blood flow to the brain by clearing blocked arteries in the neck.

According to hospital sources, the surgery was successful, and Roshan is currently under observation in the recovery unit. A carotid artery angioplasty is often conducted when fatty deposits block the blood vessels that supply blood to the brain and head, increasing the risk of stroke. The procedure involves using a balloon-tipped catheter to widen the artery and improve blood flow, sometimes followed by the placement of a stent to keep the artery open.

His daughter Sunaina Roshan confirmed the news and shared an update about his health in a brief conversation with Amar Ujala Digital. She said, “Yes, papa had an angioplasty in his neck, but he’s perfectly fine now. There’s nothing to worry about. He’s resting.”

Rakesh Roshan is reported to be stable and responding well to treatment. He is expected to remain in the hospital for a few more days as a precautionary measure. The Roshan family has not yet issued an official statement, but those close to them have indicated there is no cause for immediate concern.

Rakesh Roshan has had prior health challenges, including a battle with early-stage throat cancer in 2018, which he successfully overcame. Known for directing blockbuster hits like Karan Arjun, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, and the Krrish franchise, Roshan’s health has long been a matter of public interest.

Filmmaker Aanand L Rai has issued a strongly worded statement against Eros International following the re-release of his 2013 film Raanjhanaa, which hit theatres again on February 28 this year with an altered climax reportedly generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The filmmaker, who directed the original film starring Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor, has now publicly distanced himself from the updated version.

In a quote shared with the media, Rai expressed deep disappointment over not being consulted before the re-edit. “People connected with Raanjhanaa because of its flaws and imperfections,” he said. “To see its ending altered without a word of discussion is a gross violation not just of the film, but of the trust of the fans who’ve carried the film in their hearts for 12 years.”

The director didn’t hold back in criticising the production house, calling the move “reckless” and questioning its ethical and legal implications. “Eros’s actions open a dangerous door. They raise urgent legal and ethical questions, of the impact of decisions like this on the moral rights of creators,” Rai said.

A particular point of contention for Rai is the reported use of AI to modify performances by the lead actors, long after the film’s original release. “Even worse is their apparent decision to alter the actors’ contributions without their consent! How can they digitally manipulate an actor’s input almost a decade after a film’s release? This strips away their agency, and raises serious concerns under personality and image rights,” he added.

The filmmaker also warned against the precedent such decisions could set for the industry. “If this goes unquestioned, what stops anyone from ‘updating’ any film, performance, or legacy to suit short-term profiteering?” he asked, arguing that the move risks reducing the creative process to something disposable.

“I’m heartbroken that this is the future we’re heading toward, where intent and authorship are disposable,” Rai concluded. “All I can do is dissociate myself from such a reckless and dystopian experiment.”

It is worth noting that the makers have not responded to the criticism, as of now.

Yash Raj Films (YRF) is on a roll. Its youthful love story, Saiyaara, opened with a bang today, sending shockwaves across the industry and trade. Next week, it’ll bring out its intriguing web series, Mandala Murders, starring Vaani Kapoor, on Netflix. This will be followed by arguably the most-awaited film of the year, War 2. The action entertainer will release on August 14 and YRF has already begun working towards its promotions. In a significant development, its trailer has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The CBFC passed the War 2 promo today, Friday, July 18, with a U/A 16+ certificate. As per reports, the run time of the trailer is 2 minutes and 39 seconds. Reports also state that YRF will unveil the promo to the excited moviegoers next week.

Meanwhile, the teaser of War 2, which was dropped on May 20, has been attached with Saiyaara. A trade expert commented, “It would have been great if instead of the teaser, the theatrical trailer of War 2 was attached with Saiyaara’s prints. With Saiyaara all set to become a huge hit, a huge chunk of moviegoers would have got a chance to see the promo of War 2 in all its glory on the big screen. It would have also gone well with the YRF tradition. In the past, assets of many of their forthcoming films were launched in this manner. Nevertheless, the buzz for War 2 is super strong and is keenly awaited.”

War 2 stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in a massy face-off. Kiara Advani also features in this flick and her bikini-clad avatar got a rocking response. War 2 marks Ayan Mukerji’s first collaboration with YRF. It is also a part of YRF’s Spy Universe. Interestingly, another film from this cinematic universe, Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, will also be out this year on Christmas.
