The most awaited franchise of Hindi Cinema, Housefull 5, is finally all set to go on floors in September. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has pulled off the casting coup with male leads by getting together Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan and Sanjay Dutt together for the comic caper, set on a cruise.

It’s the most expensive Housefull film till date made on a budget of Rs. 300 crores and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to make the franchise even bigger with the casting. After a cast of top A List actors to lead the film, we have found out that Sajid Nadiadwala has locked Jacqueline Fernandez as one of the female leads of Housefull 5. According to our source, Jacqueline is paired opposite Akshay Kumar in Housefull 5.

“Jacqueline is excited to return to the Housefull franchise. She enjoys the comic space and is ecstatic to continue her association with Sajid Nadiadwala and the Housefull Franchise,” a source told Bollywood Hungama. The source further added that Sajid is in talks with three other top actresses to come on board the film, and an official announcement will be made shortly.

Housefull 5 is set to release in June 2025 and is directed by Tarun Mansukhani

However, joining the actor will be a new star cast and the first official name on the list is Varun Dhawan. Sharing a sweet note on social media, welcoming his co-star, Sunny wrote, “The star cast will be announced soon. Within a month, we are going to organize a big event where we are going to showcase the entire star cast with their characters and their getups.” Fans of the actor are definitely excited to see him in this new avatar as we have never seen Varun as a military officer on the big screen before.

Actor Sharad Sankla, who portrays the beloved character of Abdul in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has vehemently denied recent rumours suggesting his departure from the show. The speculations arose due to his temporary absence from the current storyline.

In an interview with ETimes, Sankla clarified that the reports are completely false and that he remains an integral part of the show. “The news is absolutely untrue. I am not going anywhere and very much part of the show. The storyline in the show is such that my character is not there, but very soon Abdul will return. It is part of the storyline,” he explained.

Sankla spoke about his strong bond with the production house Neela Telefilms and the show’s producer, Asit Kumarr Modi, who is also his college friend. He expressed his unwavering commitment to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, stating that he could not imagine quitting the show. “Why will I quit the show? I can’t even think of quitting the show. The production house Neela Telefilms is like a family to me and our producer Asit Kumarr Modi is my college friend. There is no way I will ever quit the show. Jab tak show chalta rahega tab tak main uska hissa bana rahunga,” he added.

Earlier reports had erroneously claimed that Sankla quit the show in May 2024. However, the actor’s clarification dispels these rumours and confirms his continued presence in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.

It is worth noting that Sankla has been a part of the show since its inception 16 years ago. His character, Abdul, has become a beloved figure among viewers. In July 2024, another actor, Kush Shah, announced his departure from the show after playing the role of Goli Hansraj Hathi for 16 years.

While the director duo Raj-DK are super excited about the premiere of the highly-anticipated spy thriller Citadel: Honey Bunny, the two filmmakers have enjoyed quite a bit of success with their other series’ – especially The Family Man. The show starring Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role as an undercover agent has definitely garnered immense success among the masses and now as fans eagerly await the third season, we hear that the show will be ending with the fourth edition.

Although there has been no official announcement on the same, reports state that the makers are considering it as an option. However, they will be arriving at a final decision only after the premiere of third season. Sources close to Mid-Day have shared that the makers are planning to wrap up the show with the fourth edition. The source said, “The third season’s shoot is underway and everyone in the team is excited about how it is shaping up. Simultaneously, there is a discussion about signing off the series with the fourth edition. Raj-DK are toying with the idea at the moment and have yet to take a final decision.”

However, they have asserted that no final decision has been made regarding the same. “The idea of ending the series is at a nascent stage. The final call will be taken following discussions with all the stakeholders only after they wrap up the third season,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the second season ended with a cliffhanger just like the first one as audiences await many answers not only regarding Manoj Bajpayee aka Srikant Tiwari’s next project in the show but also about the relationship changes his character is undergoing with his family in the series. The third season is expected to provide answer to some of these questions along with a new track of another possible threat that will be looming on the nation. Apart from Bajpayee, the show also stars Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi, Shreya Dhanwanthary, among others.

After the recent box office success of horror-supernatural movies such as Stree 2 and Munjya, Sony MAX is set to release supernatural thriller and Sony MAX Original Release: Adbhut as a direct-to-TV film release. Directed by Sabbir Khan and the film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, alongside Diana Penty, Shreya Dhanwanthary and Rohan Mehra. You also feel bad for your character Jana as his friends get him into trouble all the time…
(Laughs) Dost aise hi hote hai. I just loved the script because it shows true friendship. In friendship, you don’t give tapli to your friend and do such kind of small mischief. In reality, dost jo hote hai, woh harami hote hai!

I hope in Stree 3, you exact revenge and put them in dangerous situations before running away…
That’s a good idea!

The reaction in cinema halls for Stree 2 is phenomenal…
I had only heard that there was a time when people would celebrate, whistle and hoot in cinemas, especially in Bachchan saab’s films. I used to feel bad that ‘Why are we in this era and why don’t we get to see it’. Last year, I did witness it happening in Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Jawan. I especially went to see these films just to experience it and understand ‘Yeh hota kya hai’. And when that happens for your own film, you have no idea how special that feels.

I have already met people who have seen the film multiple times. I met a guy selling tissues on the streets. He told me, ‘Sir, aapki film maine chaar baar dekhi’! I was shocked, ‘Abhi toh release hui hai. Chaar baar kaise dekh li tune yaar’! He told me, ‘I am watching it daily’! This is unreal as well as surreal!

You mentioned Pathaan and Jawan. Both collected Rs. 500 crores and Stree is also on its way to enter the coveted club and maybe, even beat those films. Are you tracking the box office figures?
I am only tracking the audience’s reaction. I am not kidding. My friend went to see the film in Maratha Mandir, a huge cinema hall. I saw the reactions out there – people were cheering and whistling. This means a lot to me and hence, I don’t care anymore about the numbers. That’s also because I am not getting any money from it (laughs)! On a serious note, it’s great for Dinesh Vijan, Maddock Films as well as the entire industry. It motivates them to back films like this which is grounded on a good script and direction. It’s a win for the industry and marks the beginning of a new wave. Wherever we land, it doesn’t matter. We are already standing tall and together with many biggies and big hits of the past.

When Sarkata bites you in Stree 2, you loudly scream ‘Arre kaat diya re daiya’! The way you say it brought the house down. Please tell us about the process of making sure you get your act right…
I’ll share a small trivia. In Bhediya (2022), when the beast bites Varun Dhawan for the first time, Jana says ‘Arre kaat liya re daiya’. That was for Varun as I felt for him when he got bitten. This time, when I read the script, I was like ‘Arre iss baar toh yeh mere saath ho raha hai’! For me, comedy is nothing but actually being in that moment. Also, there’s a consistency in my character as I am saying the same line. After all, we all have a certain vocabulary, right? So, Jana is doing exactly what he’s doing in Stree (2018), Bhediya and Stree 2.

There’s another dialogue in part 2, ‘Galti iski nahin, galti iske baap ki hai’. There’s a connection to it in the first part as well. Viewers may have forgotten but Jana, of course, would remember and would talk about it. It is the frustration that I am taking out from the first part. The best part of the universe is that I am getting to live the life of a character and I am getting to keep that character with me throughout.

Your scene with Akshay Kumar is legendary. Was it tough to control your laughter in that scene?
In front of him, I was on my toes. This is because I knew that I was shooting with Akshay Kumar who is the king of comedy. I am his huge fan and he has given such good cinema to us like Hera Pheri, Welcome, Awara Paagal Deewana, etc. In the latter, I can never forget the way he says ‘Chal, coffee peete hai’ to Paresh Rawal. I have seen Garam Masala at least 10 times.

So, when I was told that I was going to do a scene with Akshay Kumar, I knew that it was going to be a blast. I enjoy comedy and I knew that he also enjoys comedy. What you saw on screen was a jam session between two actors. It’s like how two musicians jam. Guitar aur tabla leke bajate hai na musicians, waise hi hum dono jam kar rahe the. We were having fun and because of that, even the audience was having fun.

It came to light that you once told Varun Dhawan, on the sets of Bhediya, that you have a crush on Kiara Advani. He instantly called her and gave you the phone. We’d like to know what Kiara had to say…
She’s too sweet. She even messaged me after Stree 2 was released. It made me very happy. Varun asked me if I have a crush on somebody. I told her that I like Kiara Advani, like millions of others do. I said it very innocently. I did not know that he’ll call her and hand the phone to me. I was very awkward (laughs). But she was too sweet. Varun is that badmaash friend. He can put me into trouble!

What can we expect from the next parts of this universe?
You can only expect madness, bro! I have no idea about the script but I know it’s going to be maddening. This universe is unstoppable. I can guarantee you that Amar Kaushik and Niren Bhatt are going to work harder. Initially, they were experimenting, not sure how it would be received. But when you get confidence, you get free. Toh maza aayega. I am also excited.

Arshad Warsi is set to reunite with his Munna Bhai filmmaker, Rajkumar Hirani, for his anticipated OTT series. The cyber-crime thriller, tentatively titled Pritam Pedro, will also feature Vikrant Massey in the lead role. Hirani is stepping into the world of digital entertainment with this project. While he will serve as the showrunner-producer, his assistant director, Amir Satyaveer Singh, will helm the series.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the series, set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar, revolves around two quirky cyber cops, Pritam and Pedro, played by Vikrant Massey and Arshad Warsi, respectively. The source from the creative team revealed, “While Raju sir is known for his comedies, this series sees him explore a crime drama with his signature humor. He may even direct a couple of episodes himself.”

Arshad Warsi’s Pedro is a seasoned cop with traditional methods of solving crimes. In contrast, Vikrant Massey’s Pritam is a young tech whiz who uses advanced technology to crack cases. If all goes according to plan, Pritam Pedro will begin filming in Goa in November. The production team initially considered locations in North India but ultimately settled on the picturesque coastal state. Additional shooting will also take place in Mumbai and Pune.

Arshad Warsi has been in the news, thanks to his interview to Unfiltered by Samdish’s YouTube channel. Earlier, he got the flak after he commented that “Prabhas was like a joker in Kalki 2898 AD”. In the same interview, he also said that he was paid Rs. 75,000 instead of Rs. 1 lakh that was promised to him for choreographing a song for Boney Kapoor’s production Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993), starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. Arshad said that he quoted Rs. 1 lakh for the shoot and that he would take 4 days to complete his work. He said, “The production guy requested me to finish the song sooner, because shooting for four days would increase costs. I told him I’ll try my best, and we worked very hard to get the song done, but we finished in three days. I thought that the production would be happy. I went to get my cheque, and they gave me Rs 75,000. I said, ‘I just saved you an entire day’s shoot, you should pay me more!’ He said, ‘No, for four days it’s Rs 1 lakh, and for three days it’s Rs 75,000’.”

Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Boney Kapoor for his side of the story. Boney said, “I read his statement and I laughed. 1992 mein shoot kiya aur yeh abhi baat kar raha hai iske baare mein. At that time, he was not a star. Who would have paid him such a huge amount?”

He explained, “It was Pankaj Parashar who directed the full title. It was divided into two parts. It was shot in James Bond style and a part of it was done in Singapore or Hong Kong. There were too many things happening and Tutu Sharma was handling the production.”

He also said, “We thought that it would take four days but Pankaj finished it in three days. I didn’t even remember this episode. He was paid Rs. 25,000 per day. Hence, he was paid Rs. 75,000 for three days. It was not like (he was promised a certain amount).”

Did Arshad Warsi ever mention this episode to Boney Kapoor? The filmmaker replied, “No. We were a part of a TV show together. Malaika Arora and Farah Khan were also a part of it. He never mentioned it and now, suddenly he talks about it. Everybody wants media attention now and I am a soft target.”

Bollywood Hungama also spoke to Pankaj Parashar and he said that he was not aware of the commercials, “I was not involved with the payments. I was directing the song as a favour to Boney. I don’t think Boney even knew ki kaun kisko kya payment kar raha hai. I think Arshad said it in humour.”

But he noted, “Arshad says that teen din mein usne shoot khatam kiya. But it was me who completed the song in 3 days. I was the director while he was a newcomer choreographer. He didn’t control the shoot, I did. But anyway, let him take credit and let’s not make an issue out of this episode.”

Kolkata-born actress and Bigg Boss 16 fame Tina Datta has expressed her outrage over the brutal rape and murder of a resident doctor in a Kolkata hospital. In a powerful statement, Tina shared her deep concerns about the safety of women in her hometown, highlighting the gravity of the situation and the lack of accountability from those in power.

Reflecting on her personal experiences, Tina shared, “When I used to reside in Kolkata or even today for that matter when I go to Calcutta, I am strictly not allowed to step outside my house post 8:00. My parents are very, very in all about it. They say after 8 pm you can’t step out. This clearly explains the safety and security of that city.”

Tina questioned the integrity of the investigation and the immediate aftermath of the incident,“It’s shameful, hurtful, that the entire incident happened and the ministers are trying to cover it up. And if rumours are to be believed, the TMC’s boy is involved in it. Because of that TMC guy who was also studying Doctor there involved in it, the hospital and govt tried to wipe out all the evidence. You are informing the parents and the family after three hours and saying that she committed suicide. You couldn’t see that it wasn’t a suicide, before committing suicide a girl would dislocate her pelvis, crush her specs and ruin her eyes. How do you care to explain that this is a suicide?”

She also condemned the mishandling of the postmortem and cremation processes, saying, “In the Crematorium grounds she was third in the line, but wherein you put her first in the line so that all the evidences are wiped out. And I know how this crematorium grounds in Calcutta works.”

She further criticized the lack of action against those responsible: “Why isn’t the CBI arresting the principal or the DM or whosoever was in charge of that particular hospital? Why is he openly freely roaming around?”

She suggested that the police were complicit in the cover-up, alleging, “Police didn’t even stop them. So obviously the police are involved and police are not stopping these people. Which means the police have an order from the upper hand. And who’s the upper hand? The CM of the state.” She expressed frustration with the slow pace of justice: “For Nirbhaya’s case, it took 12 years for Nirbhaya to get justice and her parents to get justice. This means in our country it takes 12-15 years to get justice and there are no solution to it.”

In her emotional appeal, Tina also shared her personal experiences with molestation and the pervasive nature of harassment. “I have been molested multiple times since I was a kid. Very rarely people do get to speak about it because people are ashamed, they’re embarrassed or they’re scared or sometimes a family member is molesting them. So it is a very scary thing and there is no safety. It’s a shame that you can’t even send your kids to kindergarten, there also your kids are molested.

Tina concluded with a call for stricter laws and enforcement, “It’s high time that Our PM should incorporate strict rules, laws against rape and just bloody chop off their thing man the moment they rape.” She emphasized the need for drastic changes in the legal system to ensure the safety of women and children in India.
