The Brad Pitt-starrer F1: The Movie is running very successfully at the box office, particularly in the IMAX version. The racing saga has emerged as a grand cinematic experience and the experience of watching it in IMAX is something else, resulting in healthy sales in the special format even on the weekdays. Fans of the film were disappointed as the movie was going to have just a 2-week showcasing in IMAX. But now, it has come to light that F1: The Movie has got an extended run.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “F1: The Movie released on June 27 while Superman releases tomorrow, July 11. Hence, it was known from the beginning that the former would be available for just two weeks in the IMAX screens. It was also known that F1: The Movie would be lapped up in the IMAX version. Yet, the response to the film in the 33 IMAX screens in India took everyone by surprise. The film refuses to slow down despite inflated tickets. Even morning shows on weekdays are getting huge occupancy, which is a rarity.”

The source continued, “The collections made it clear that a lot of gas is left in the tank when it comes to F1: The Movie in IMAX. Meanwhile, fans have also been tweeting that the racing flick should continue in the format. But that was not possible due to Superman.”

The source then said, “This is when the studio, Warner Bros, came up with a solution. They have asked IMAX theatres to play an early morning show of F1: The Movie from July 11. Superman’s shows start at 9:00 am or 10:00 am in IMAX. These cinemas were asked to play F1: The Movie 3 ½ hours before the first show of Superman. This means that F1: The Movie might have a show at 6:00 am or even 5:00 am! But Warner has assured cinemas that they’ll get an audience for this film at these unearthly hours as there’s tremendous demand to see the movie in IMAX.”

A trade expert commented, “All theatres might not agree to this idea but most of them will and hence, F1: The Movie will continue in IMAX. From Week 2, F1: The Movie can maybe be played in the usual time slot, depending on how it trends in Week 3. Thankfully, both Superman and F1: The Movie are backed by Warner Bros and this will make it easier for shows to be accommodated.”

The IMAX continues to be a sought-after format, especially for big-budget grand films. However, the IMAX rules are such that they want to ensure that there are not too many IMAX releases at one time. Hence, Jurassic World: Rebirth, which was released between F1: The Movie and Superman, didn’t get a release in IMAX.

On the other hand, a war is brewing between War 2 and Coolie, both of which are all set to release on August 14. War 2 has taken over all the IMAX screens as per an exclusive deal. Last weekend, Bollywood Hungama reported the viral story on how Coolie’s makers inserted the IMAX logo despite no confirmation from IMAX that their film will be released in their screens. It yet again showed how the format has a prestige value and how makers deeply desire that their biggie gets screened in IMAX.

Tiger Shroff has officially wrapped up shooting for Baaghi 4, the latest installment in the action franchise that has played a key role in shaping his career. The actor took to social media on Tuesday, July 9, to share the update with fans. Alongside a series of photos holding the film’s clapboard, Tiger expressed gratitude in a heartfelt note.

“And finally it comes to an end … thank you for all your love and allowing this franchise to reach so far. Don’t think I’ve ever bled as much for any film. This one’s for you,” he wrote in the caption.

Directed by A Harsha and backed by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Baaghi 4 marks Tiger’s return to the action genre, a space that has defined much of his filmography. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonam Bajwa in prominent roles.

Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali was discovered dead in her apartment located in Karachi’s upscale Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase VI on Tuesday, July 8. The 32-year-old’s body was found by police in a decomposed condition.

According to police officials, Humaira is believed to have died nearly two weeks before her body was found. The discovery came after her landlord, unable to contact her and concerned over unpaid rent, sought legal action to begin eviction proceedings. Following the court’s directive, Gizri police visited the apartment in the Ittehad Commercial area. When they received no response around 3:15 pm, officers forced their way into the locked flat, which was emitting a foul odor.

“The apartment was locked from the inside, including the balcony door,” confirmed South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza in a statement to Pakistani news portal Images. Police stated that there were no immediate signs of foul play at the scene.

Forensic experts from the Crime Scene Unit were brought in to gather evidence, and Humaira’s body was transported to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for further medical and legal examination. Dr. Summaiya Syed, a police surgeon at JPMC, confirmed the advanced state of decomposition and stated, “The cause of death remains reserved.” An investigation is ongoing, with police awaiting the postmortem report to establish the exact cause of death.

Reports suggest that Humaira had been living alone in the rented apartment and had not paid rent for several months. Police are currently working to trace her relatives by examining her mobile phone records.

Humaira Asghar had earlier appeared on ARY’s reality show Tamasha Ghar and had a role in the 2015 film Jalaibee. According to her Instagram bio, she was more than just an actress and model—she also identified as a theatre artist, painter, sculptor, and a fitness enthusiast. She had over 713,000 followers on the platform. Her final post, shared on September 30, 2024, featured a series of candid photographs.

However, in an exciting turn of events, our exclusive trade sources inform us that Jolly LLB 3 is aiming at a Gandhi Jayanti 2025 release now. “Jolly LLB 3 has shaped up very well and is among the most exciting films of the year. Having seen the final cut, the producers feel that the film warrants a Holiday release. The epic slice of life courtroom drama is now aiming at an October 2, 2025 release.”

At the moment, Kantara 2 is also announced for the same date, but there is a strong buzz about a probable delay in the film’s release. “Even if Kantara 2 is not delayed, Jolly LLB 3 could indulge in a clash with the Rishab Shetty starrer. Gandhi Jayanti is a big holiday, and has the potential to accommodate two films. Jolly is a big franchise, and has a loyal fan-base, which will step out in big numbers to watch on October 2,” the source told Bollywood Hungama.

Interestingly, the film is made on controlled costs, which makes the clash less risky for them. “Kantara 2 team has more at stake due to the budget. Jolly LLB 3 is made on a controlled budget, and all the stakeholders will be more than happy, making enough profits even in the clash scenario. All sorts of discussions are going on between Akshay, Subhash Kapoor, and Viacom 18, and a final call on the date will be taken shortly,” the source signed off.

Udaipur Files, a film based on the 2022 murder of Udaipur-based tailor Kanhaiya Lal, has drawn attention in the lead-up to its scheduled release on July 11. The film, directed by Bharat Shrinate and produced by Amit Jani, has reportedly undergone 150 cuts following scrutiny by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The director, speaking to NDTV, said, “They have made 150 cuts in my film. We made several rounds of the Censor Board office for at least two months. This film is not about any religion or faith, it’s about ideology and truth.”

Responding to ongoing criticism, Shrinate added, “Firstly, how can people assume what’s in the film without watching it? Secondly, I submitted the film to the Indian Censor Board, not to anybody else. People who are protesting against the film won’t decide whether the film will be released or not. The Censor Board has its terms and conditions, rules and regulations. What will be kept or removed, it’s their call.”

The film is based on the June 2022 incident in which Kanhaiya Lal was killed by two men at his tailoring shop in Udaipur’s Hathipole area. The accused allegedly carried out the murder after the victim shared a post perceived as objectionable on social media. The incident had sparked widespread reaction across the country at the time.

Udaipur Files features actor Vijay Raaz in the role of Kanhaiya Lal, with supporting performances by Rajneesh Duggal, Preeti Jhangiani, Kamlesh Sawant, Kanchi Singh, and Mushtaq Khan. The film was previously titled Gyanvapi Files: A Tailor’s Murder Story and was initially scheduled to release on June 27.

In addition to the certification issues, the film is facing a legal hurdle. According to a PTI report, a petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the release of the film, citing concerns over its potential impact on communal harmony and public order. The matter is expected to come up for hearing today.

At the time of writing, neither the CBFC nor the Delhi High Court has issued a public statement regarding the developments.
