Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, known for hard-hitting films like Talvar and Raazi, is gearing up for her next project. Based on the horrific 2019 Hyderabad encounter case, the film titled Daayra is expected to roll by the end of 2024. The case involved the alleged extrajudicial killing of four rape suspects by police officials in Hyderabad. Gulzar has locked the script and is in advanced conversations with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ayushmann Khurrana for the lead roles.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, a source revealed, “It’s a hard-hitting film that warrants the presence of actors with the calibre of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ayushmann Khurrana. The duo read the script and were shocked by the details of the case. After Talvar, this is another film that could shock the nation and stir a conversation about the case.”

While Kapoor Khan and Khurrana have verbally agreed to the project, final contracts are still being worked out and are expected to be finalized within the next two weeks. Aiming for a 2025 release, Gulzar reportedly aims for a sensitive portrayal of the case.

“Meghna is looking to take the film on floors by the end of 2024. It will arrive in the cinema halls in 2025,” the source informed. “Meghna has done all her research on the subject through the last few years and had a strong source material on place for her screenplay. She was moved by all that happened. Kareena and Ayushmann resonated with the emotions and are looking forward to team up on this special project.” This film would mark the first on-screen pairing of Kapoor Khan and Khurrana.

The Hyderabad encounter case, which took place in 2019, sparked national outrage. The young veterinarian’s horrific rape and murder in 2019 sent shockwaves through the country. The four men accused in the case were never given a trial. The encounter sparked national outrage due to the lack of transparency and the suspicion of a staged encounter. Public pressure likely played a role in the Supreme Court’s eventual ruling. In 2022, the Supreme Court ordered action against 10 police officers involved in the encounter.

Produced by Junglee Pictures, the thriller drama’s pre-production is underway and is set to roll in the last quarter of 2024.

Fans of Allu Arjun and director Sukumar’s blockbuster film Pushpa: The Rise will have to wait a little longer for the sequel. While the highly anticipated Pushpa: The Rule was slated for an Independence Day release on August 15, 2024, it has now been officially postponed.

Pushpa 2’s filming delays cause pushback
According to exclusive sources close to the production, the decision to delay the release stems from challenges in meeting the August deadline. “The makers were always racing against time to finish the shoot and lock their edit,” revealed a source.  “It’s yesterday that they finally decided to delay the release date and an official announcement on the new date is expected to be made in a day or two.”
Pushpa 2 gears up for a December release 
The source further elaborated that the team is now targeting a December 2024 release window. “Pushpa 2 team is considering several date options – which includes Dussehra 2024, December 2024, and Pongal 2025. However, the way things are moving, it seems that Pushpa 2 will arrive in the month of December,” they revealed.
Pushpa 2’s filming delay impacts on promotions
This delay will likely cause a temporary halt in the film’s promotional campaign.  So far, fans have been treated to a teaser and two songs, but further promotion will likely be adjusted to accommodate the new release window. Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that the makers are yet to make an official announcement to confirm the same. 

Speaking of the film, Pushpa: The Rule will delve deeper into the conflict between Pushpa Raj, played by Allu Arjun, and Fahadh Faasil’s character. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna in a key role.

Movie buffs eagerly awaiting to know more about a project which was expected to bring two big names from the South Indian Film Industry which was filmmaker Atlee and Pushpa fame Allu Arjun. However, much to their disappointment, the movie has failed to take off. However, we hear that Atlee has decided to move on and has now approached Bollywood megastar Salman Khan for the movie.

As per a report by Peeping Moon, a source confirmed that Atlee and Allu Arjun had to part ways due to a few differences but also asserted that it has had no impact on their relationship. “They were definitely in talks, but it was at a very primary stage, and the collaboration was never finalized as was being speculated in the media. Atlee is still working on the script and hasn’t locked anyone yet. It would have been great to see both of them teaming up on a massive project, but, as of now, Allu Arjun and Atlee’s film is not happening,” the source said.

Furthermore, the source also addressed the ongoing rumours about Atlee charging a high remuneration for the movie and clarified that the preferences of Allu Arjun and Atlee ‘did not align with each other’ which is the reason, the deal didn’t get through. In the same breath, it was also reported that the duo continue to share a relationship of mutual respect and admiration for each other.

According to these reports, although not many details of the movie are available, it is being said that the discussions are currently on with Salman Khan. We hear that the makers have not yet created a production timeline but are aiming to go on floors by the first half of next year, that is, 2025.

With Kartik Aaryan yet again returning as Rooh Baba, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 saw Triptii Dimri as one of its latest additions and now the latest update on that front is that the team will be taking off to Madhya Pradesh to shoot the rest of the portions of the film.

Latest reports suggest that, the team will be going by the end of the month since Kartik Aaryan is busy with the promotions of Chandu Champion. Meanwhile, Triptii Dimri seems to be enjoying her quality time by spending it on trips and travel. Due to their hectic work schedules, we hear that the makers decided to kick off the next schedule next month. So, after shooting extensively in Mumbai and Kolkata, now the film will reportedly be shot in the of Orchha in MP which is expected to have several picturesque havelis along with the vibe of an old town.

A source was quoted confirming the details to Hindustan Times, saying, “Kartik and Triptii will be going to Orchha, Madhya Pradesh towards June end for the next schedule of the film. The location will give a very rooted aesthetic vibe as is the requirement of the story. The team will be stationed there till July. Post that, another schedule is planned for shoot before the film wraps up.”

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which was announced soon after the release of the second instalment, locked its details recently. With Triptii Dimri as the leading lady this time, this Kartik Aaryan starrer will feature Vidya Balan who will be returning to the franchise after the first instalment. It is also being said that Madhuri Dixit Nene will be seen in a special role in the movie. The film is slated for release in Diwali this year and is said to clash with the release of Rohit Shetty’s copverse action entertainer, Singham Again.

Actress Digangana Suryavanshi has hit back at accusations of extortion and breach of trust levelled against her by Manish Harishankar, director of the web series Showstopper. Suryavanshi has filed a defamation case and a police complaint against Harishankar, strongly denying his claims.

In a statement, Suryavanshi called Harishankar’s narrative a “twisted imagination” and a “cheap publicity stunt.” She claims his accusations are an attempt to deflect blame for his inability to sell the show after two years.
Digangana Suryavanshi’s lawyer CLARIFIES business dealings
Suryavanshi’s lawyer provided a detailed explanation of the situation. According to the statement, Suryavanshi secured Akshay Kumar’s permission to appear as a presenter for ‘Showstopper’ under a formal business contract. However, Harishankar allegedly failed to fulfill his obligations under the agreement.

The lawyer further clarifies that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) drafted between Suryavanshi and Harishankar was a legitimate business document, not a tool for extortion. Suryavanshi reportedly fulfilled her obligations by securing the presenter but faced further delays due to creative changes requested by Harishankar.
Digangana Suryavanshi DENIES financial misconduct
The statement also refutes claims of Suryavanshi receiving any money from Harishankar for the presenter arrangement. It clarifies that her travels were for business purposes and not personal gain. Additionally, the lawyer denies any possession of an iPad belonging to Harishankar.
Digangana Suryavanshi takes legal action against false accusations
Suryavanshi’s lawyer has outlined various legal sections under which Harishankar is being charged. These include sections related to defamation, criminal intimidation, breach of trust, and cheating. Suryavanshi possesses evidence of all communication regarding the business deal, and legal action will be pursued against the spreading of false information.

The Mumbai Police investigation into the recent death threats against Salman Khan has seen a key development. A 25-year-old man, Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar, from Bundi, Rajasthan, has been remanded in police custody till June 18.

Accused posted threatening video
Gujar was arrested on charges of criminal intimidation after allegedly posting a video on his YouTube channel threatening to kill Salman Khan. In the video, recorded on a highway in Rajasthan, Gujar claimed to be associated with gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. The Mumbai Police traced the IP address to Rajasthan and apprehended Gujar with the help of the anti-extortion cell of the crime branch.
Salman Khan death threat case investigation continues
Police investigation revealed that Gujar used a fake name and email address while uploading the video. However, he was tracked down using his mobile number. He is charged under Section 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code (punishment for criminal intimidation) and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.  Authorities are also conducting a background check on his criminal record.
Previous attacks on Salman Khan 
This arrest follows the firing incident outside Salman Khan’s residence in April 2024. Six individuals were previously arrested in that case, with one suspect dying by suicide in police custody. Additionally, Navi Mumbai Police have apprehended a separate group believed to be plotting an attack on Khan.

The Mumbai Police plan to seek custody of Lawrence Bishnoi, currently imprisoned in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, for questioning in connection with the threats. His brother Anmol, allegedly located in Canada, remains a wanted accused.
