BREAKING: Panorama Studios CONFIRMS Drishyam 3 via Bombay Stock Exchange disclosure; Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Pathak reunite

In a significant development for Bollywood fans, Drishyam 3 has officially been greenlit. Panorama Studios International Limited has entered into a production agreement with Digital 18 Media Private Limited to bring the highly-anticipated third instalment of the iconic thriller franchise to life.

In a formal announcement filed with the Bombay Stock Exchange on May 29, 2025, under Regulation 30 of SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements, Panorama Studios confirmed that Drishyam 3 is in active production. The letter states that the film will once again star Ajay Devgn in the lead role and will be directed by Abhishek Pathak, who helmed the surprise blockbuster, Drishyam 2 (2022).

The announcement is sure to send fans into a frenzy as Vijay Salgaonkar, the character played by Ajay Devgn in the series, has achieved cult status. With Abhishek Pathak returning to direct, expectations are sky-high for a story that’s bound to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

This formal disclosure is a clear indication that Drishyam 3 is a top priority for Abhishek Pathak, producer-father Kumar Mangat Pathak and Ajay Devgn. Given the franchise’s track record, there’s no doubt that Drishyam 3 will be one of the most-awaited films of 2026.

Drishyam’s first part is the story of Vijay and his family and how they land in a soup when they accidentally kill the son of a top police officer. Vijay uses his wit and intelligence to outsmart the cops and emerge unscathed. Besides Ajay Devgn, it starred Tabu, Shriya Saran and Ishita Dutta. It was a decent success at the box office but became a bigger craze post its release. The scene where Vijay and his family claimed to had consumed pav bhaji on October 2 has a separate fan base. As a result of these factors, Drishyam 2 opened with a bang. Akshaye Khanna was an exciting addition to the sequel.

Sonakshi Sinha starrer Nikita Roy gets new release date, now set to hit theatres on June 27

Sonakshi Sinha is back on the big screen with a vengeance. On May 29, the actress took to social media to unveil the official poster of her upcoming psychological thriller, Nikita Roy. The film, which marks her return to theatres after 2024’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, is set to hit cinemas worldwide on June 27, 2025.

The poster features Sonakshi in an intense close-up, exuding a serious, almost ominous presence. Alongside her, the ensemble cast includes Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal, and Suhail Nayyar. The film is directed by Kussh S Sinha and produced under the banners of Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films, Kratos Entertainment, and Nikita Pai Films Ltd.
A New Chapter in Sonakshi Sinha’s Career
While Nikita Roy will mark Sonakshi’s first theatrical lead since Double XL in 2022 and the ensemble action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in 2024, the actress hasn’t been away from screens. In recent years, she expanded her repertoire with digital ventures, including the horror-comedy Kakuda (ZEE5) and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar on Netflix.

The official synopsis of Nikita Roy is still under wraps, but the poster hints at a dark, possibly psychological narrative with mystery elements.

Earlier, the producers, in a joint statement, said, “This film is very close to our hearts. It dares to tread where most mainstream films don’t and explores a genre we truly believe audiences are ready for. With a powerful cast, a gripping narrative, and Kussh S Sinha’s unique vision, we can’t wait for the world to experience Nikita Roy on the big screen.”

Ranveer Singh NOT producing Shaktimaan project, confirms actor’s team in official statement

Amid growing speculation about Ranveer Singh stepping into the shoes of India’s beloved superhero Shaktimaan as both actor and producer, the actor’s team has issued a firm denial, setting the record straight. For the unversed, on May 29, a report by Filmfare suggested that Singh had acquired the rights to the classic character. It claimed that Ranveer was planning to produce a web series based on Shaktimaan, which originally starred Mukesh Khanna.

“No Truth to These Reports,” Says Official Statement
Responding to the speculation, a statement issued by Ranveer Singh’s team categorically denied any involvement in a Shaktimaan project. The note read, “The news about Ranveer Singh acquiring rights to develop a new superhero (Shaktimaan) project as the producer holds no truth. He is currently busy shooting for Aditya Dhar’s next, and then Don 3 is also on the cards for him.”

The clarification puts to rest months of rumours linking Singh to a potential Shaktimaan revival. It also indicates that Mukesh Khanna, the original creator and face of the series, is not collaborating with the actor on any such project.

Ranveer Singh is currently filming Aditya Dhar’s upcoming action thriller, and preparations for Don 3 are already underway. Directed by Farhan Akhtar, the third installment of the Don franchise is expected to go on floors later this year. Kiara Advani, who was initially announced as the female lead, has reportedly stepped away from the film following her pregnancy announcement. The new female lead has yet to be confirmed.

Most recently, Singh was seen in Singham Again, alongside Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Tiger Shroff. The film marked his return to Rohit Shetty’s cop universe.

Guru Dutt biopic in early talks; Vicky Kaushal considered to play the icon

As Indian cinema approaches the 100th birth anniversary of Guru Dutt, plans are underway to commemorate his life and legacy on a grand scale. Ultra Media & Entertainment Group, which owns the rights to his filmography, has revealed a multi-layered tribute. It will also include the possibility of a biopic and web series adaptations of his most celebrated works.

Biopic in the Pipeline; Vicky Kaushal a Potential Lead
Rajat Agrawal, COO and Director at Ultra Media, confirmed that early discussions have begun for a full-length biopic on the legendary filmmaker. A report by Mid-Day quoted Rajat saying, “Biopics are always challenging because they need to emulate an individual’s greatness and achievements. We would be happy to collaborate with producers and a modern-day director who is a fanatic of Guru Dutt,” while noting that the company is in talks with two prominent directors.

When asked about who could portray the complexity and sensitivity of Guru Dutt on screen, Agrawal pointed to Vicky Kaushal as a possible candidate. “Naming one actor would be difficult as there is a plethora of talent, but I feel Vicky Kaushal can bring Guru Duttji’s emotional depth,” he added.

In addition to the biopic, Ultra is exploring the idea of adapting some of Dutt’s acclaimed films into web series. While no formal announcements have been made, Agrawal revealed that two well-known directors have shown interest in reimagining the filmmaker’s stories for the digital space.
Restored Versions Unveiled at Cannes 2025
Earlier this month, Ultra Media presented restored versions of Guru Dutt’s cinematic landmarks — Pyaasa (1957), Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959), Chaudhvin Ka Chand (1960), and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (1962) — at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, receiving warm response from global audiences. The move is part of a larger initiative to reintroduce Dutt’s works to contemporary viewers while preserving their original charm.

Agrawal emphasized that the restorations stay true to the original black-and-white aesthetic, though a few songs might be colourised as an experiment. “All his movies have been restored in the original black-and-white version to give the same nostalgic feel. However, we are looking at colourising a few songs to see the audience’s reaction.”
Nationwide Tribute Ahead of Birth Anniversary
In the run-up to Guru Dutt’s birth centenary on July 9, a week-long celebration is being planned across India. The initiative will include theatrical re-releases of the restored classics, curated exhibitions, and panel discussions featuring leading voices from the Indian film industry. The aim is to revisit the genius of a filmmaker who captured human emotion with rare sensitivity and cinematic innovation.

Maa trailer launch: Kajol NAILS it with a mic-drop reply on casting: “Who could Ajay Devgn imagine in a horror role besides me?”; Ajay wins hearts by featuring mothers’ names as middle names in the end credits

Actors Kajol and Kherin Sharma launched the trailer of their film Maa at a multiplex in Mumbai. They were joined by Kajol’s actor-producer Ajay Devgn, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, director Vishal Furia and project head and creative producer Vishal Danish Devgn. R Madhavan was the surprise guest, and it added to the fun.

Kajol said, “This is the first time that a mythological horror has been attempted. I am very happy to be a part of it and to have all this backing behind me.”

What caught the attention of the attendees was that the names of everyone carried the mention of the mother in the middle. Ajay Devgn was asked about it and he said, “We are making a film named Maa. Usually, we mention the names of fathers in the middle. This time we felt that the mothers should get their due respect. Hence, the middle names of everyone listed in the end credits have the names of mothers.” As expected, there was applause in the crowd over this answer.

The host asked “Kahan se shuruaat hui?” with regards to the casting. Kajol, in her trademark style, immediately answered, “Ghar se shuru hui! Who could he imagine in a horror role besides me?” Ajay Devgn laughed and added, “Koi bhi husband apni wife ko hi cast karega!”

On a serious note, Ajay said, “When Saiwyn Quadras told me this idea, I realized that so many horror films and horror comedies are being made. But no one has attempted a mytho horror film though our mythology is rich with such stories. In Hollywood, woh characters aise bana dete hai jaise unki koi mythology hai hi nahin. We have it and yet, we don’t make good use of it. We thought it was a great idea, and we decided to use it. The character of the mother was so strong. Who else could have thought apart from her (pointing at Kajol)?”

Maa is also produced by Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios. On this, Ajay said, “It’s always been fabulous. She has always been a great friend. She supports good cinema. Whatever we want to make, she is always there. So, thank you to her!” Interestingly, Jio Studios and Devgn Films are the pioneers of the mythological horror genre. Their previous collaboration, Shaitaan (2024), also belonged to the same zone.

Sooraj Pancholi reveals top podcasters demand up to Rs 30 lakhs per appearance: “It makes sense as they give you viewership”

Podcasts have quietly reshaped the rules of celebrity publicity. What began as a convenient alternative during the COVID-19 lockdowns has, over the past few years, evolved into one of the most powerful platforms for public image-building. As television productions paused in 2020 and traditional media channels focused on pandemic coverage, podcasts and YouTube talk shows stepped in, giving stars a space to stay visible and reach audiences directly.

Now, in a post-pandemic world where digital content dominates attention spans, landing a spot on a popular podcast is not just desirable—it’s strategic. And in many cases, it comes with a price.

In a recent interview with Hindi Rush, actor Sooraj Pancholi shed light on the growing pay-to-play culture surrounding podcast appearances. “I have heard that there are a few actors who charge about Rs 30 lakh to do a podcast. Is this true? I am just wanting to know because I have come here for free. Pay me at least Rs 30,000,” he joked.

However, Pancholi quickly clarified that it’s actually the podcasters who now hold the power. “Yes, I have heard that too, that the podcasters who have good viewership charge Rs 30 lakh to get you on their podcast,” he added, confirming that he had personally received such an offer. “But it makes sense as they give you viewership. They have put immense hard work to grow their page so I think why not?”

Speaking of the professional font, Sooraj is currently seen in Kesari Veer. The historical action film is directed by Prince Dhiman. Besides Sooraj, it also stars Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, and Akanksha Sharma.

When a trip to Indore changed everything for Suneel Darshan – how Rishta – A Bond of Love was born with Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan

Following the surprise success of Jaanwar (1999), Suneel Darshan found himself on a creative high. The action-packed emotional drama had not only revived Akshay Kumar’s career at the time but also marked a turning point for Darshan as a storyteller known for mixing commercial flair with strong sentiment. Riding on that momentum, he was all set to begin work on another story-oriented action entertainer, again with Akshay in the lead.

The plan was in motion – the subject was locked, the first song was already recorded, and the groundwork for the film’s launch had quietly begun. But destiny had other ideas.

In early 2000, Darshan made a routine trip to Indore to check in on operations at his distribution office there. But the change in environment sparked something unexpected. An old story – one that had been lingering in his mind for years – suddenly came back with renewed urgency. “It was like something shifted,” a source close to the filmmaker recalled. “He couldn’t ignore it anymore.”

On returning to Mumbai, Suneel did what he always did when at a creative crossroads – he narrated the story to his mother. Deeply moved, she encouraged him to shelve the action project and pursue this one instead. She believed this story had the potential to help him grow as a director, emotionally and artistically.

Suneel then turned to his Jaanwar star, Akshay Kumar, who surprisingly gave the same reaction. The story struck a chord, and Akshay agreed instantly. It was a different tone from their usual collaborations, but both felt it was the right move.

The biggest surprise came when Suneel approached Amitabh Bachchan. Still riding high on his second innings post-Mohabbatein and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Big B gave a quick nod. He was reportedly impressed by the emotional depth of the story and the layered character he would get to play.

And just like that, Rishta – A Bond Of Love was officially launched – a multi-starrer that promised to blend familial drama with star power.

Kajol unleashes divine wrath in Maa Trailer – a mythological horror from the world of Shaitaan

Get ready for a battle between divinity and darkness as the much-awaited trailer of Maa, starring Kajol in a powerful new avatar, has finally dropped. A mythological horror film from Jio Studios and Devgn Films, Maa marks the actress’ terrifying debut in the horror genre and is the newest chapter from the universe of Shaitaan. The film is all set to release in theatres on June 27, 2025.

Directed by Chhorii filmmaker Vishal Furia, Maa dives deep into an eerie narrative soaked in mythology, ancient curses, and spiritual vengeance. Kajol plays a fierce mother who transforms into the goddess Kali to protect her child and destroy a demonic curse rooted in blood, betrayal, and fear. The trailer, which was unveiled on May 29, offers a haunting visual palette, filled with menacing shadows, spine-chilling rituals, and symbols of divine fury. Kajol, seen in intense scenes that radiate both maternal strength and godly rage, brings gravitas to a story that blends mythology with horror in a uniquely Indian setting. Fans are already hailing her as a force to be reckoned with in this new, genre-defying role.

Also featuring Indraneil Sengupta, Kherin Sharma, and Ronit Roy, Maa appears to be a horror film with thematic depth — dealing not just with fear, but with the emotional weight of sacrifice and devotion. The film is a key part of the Shaitaan horror universe that began with R Madhavan’s sinister performance earlier this year.

Maa is presented by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande, with Kumar Mangat Pathak as co-producer. The makers promise that Maa will push the boundaries of Indian horror and mythology, offering audiences a gripping cinematic experience steeped in ancient lore.

With its intense visuals, powerful performances, and a uniquely Indian take on horror, Maa releasing on June 27, is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of 2025.
