The brilliant run of Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior has continued right till the end of the second week. Even on Thursday, the numbers just didn’t fall as Rs. 7.02 crores came in. On Wednesday, the film had collected Rs. 7.20 crores so one can well imagine how strong the Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan starrer is at the box office.

The film has been granted the tax free status in Maharashtra as well and that will give it huge impetus amongst cinegoers. This is the belt where maximum collections are coming in, which means the third weekend would be superb as well. The film has already collected Rs. 197.45 crores in just two weeks, a feat that hardly many blockbusters have enjoyed ever since the creation of the Rs. 100 Crore and Rs. 200 Crore Club.

In fact, today the Om Raut directed film will not just enter the Rs. 200 Crore Club but will also go past the lifetime collections of Ek Tha Tiger (Rs. 199 crores) and 3 Idiots (Rs. 202 crores). There are many other biggies that the period drama would surpass in its journey towards the Rs. 250 crores milestone (which is now a given) and it won’t be surprising if it actually manages to go way beyond that mark as well.

Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior is enjoying amazing trending at the box office. The film is still collecting almost 50% of its first day numbers of Rs. 15.10 crores and that too when it is almost at the close of its second week. The film brought in Rs. 7.20 crores* more on Wednesday and that’s indeed huge. It is practically the only film which is attracting major footfalls in theatres and if it manages to stay over Rs. 7 crores mark today as well, it would be a hugely satisfying outing for the Om Raut directed affair.

The film’s overall collections currently stand at Rs. 190.54 crores* and now it is less than Rs. 10 crores away from the Rs. 200 Crore Club milestone. The Ajay Devgn led period war drama is seeing one of those fastest entry ever into the elite club and other than Uri – The Surgical Strike, it is the only film to have started at relatively lower levels (when it comes to Rs. 200 crores blockbusters) and still cover such a huge distance. Otherwise the usual Rs. 200 Crore Club films begin with an opening in Rs, 20/30/40 crores range and then manage to achieve this milestone.

Meanwhile there are many more records that the film has broken in real quick time. In just 13 days, it has gone past the lifetime numbers of other major biggies like 2.0 (Hindi) [Rs. 189.55 crores], Bajirao Mastani [Rs. 188 crores], and

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani [Rs. 188.92 crores]. By tomorrow, it is expected that Ek Tha Tiger [Rs. 199 crores] would be history as well and from there on Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior would begin to challenge the other films which are sitting in the Rs. 200 Crore Club.

First month of 2020 is on and second big release of the year is set to arrive in theatres. While Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior is already doing wonders and is set to go past the Rs. 200 crores mark, another film which should cross at least Rs. 100 crores at the box office is Street Dancer 3D. Though for certain reasons it isn’t named ABCD 3, the setup is on the same lines with Remo D’souza directing Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor and Prabhu Dheva again after ABCD 2. Nora Fatehi is the added attraction this around.

Things are already looking good for this dance musical which has a lively feel to it and a grand appeal. One of those films that is made for big screen experience, Street Dancer 3D has music has its USP, though fact has to be stated that most of the songs are recreated versions. That said, the good thing is that each of the tracks has been choreographed and picturized well, and with the kind of cast that is at the film’s disposal, youth should definitely be enticed.

All of these factors combined together along with the big release that it is getting ensures that Street Dancer 3D should open in Rs. 15-18 crores range. It could well have stretched to the Rs. 20 crores mark if not for Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior being historic especially in the Maharashtra belt. That said, Street Dancer 3D has its own equity and that promises an opening of Rs. 15 crores at the least.

Kangana Ranaut’s Panga releases this Friday. The film has seen decent promotion going for it and is primarily targeting family audiences to step in on the basis of word of mouth. Last year, Kangana’s Judgementall Hai Kya had released. That film has been heavily promoted and marketed, and the first day collections had emerged as Rs. 5.40 crores. Now Panga is releasing with an approach where organic growth would be the key. Moreover, it would face competition from Street Dancer 3 as well as Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior.

While it won’t make much of a difference from screen availability perspective since Panga doesn’t require a huge count there, from audience attention perspective there would be a three-way choice available to them for sure.

Director Ashwini Iyer Tiwari is returning after Bareilly Ki Barfi which was a good success and was first of the films featuring Ayushmann Khurrana that led to an unbroken streak of hits, super hits and blockbusters which has continued right till Bala. Now with Panga, she is expected to deliver again. Taking all things into consideration, the film should find itself on a decent footing if an opening day number of Rs. 3-4 crores come in. Post that it would be the content that should allow good jumps over rest of the weekend.

Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior is now a superbly set film and is continuing to do wonders at the box office. After bringing in Rs. 8.17 crores on Monday, the Om Raut directed film had a very minor drop on Tuesday as Rs. 7.72 crores came in. That is truly negligible and now around Rs. 13-14 crores more can be expected to be accumulated between today and tomorrow.

The film has already collected Rs. 183.34 crores and today it will go past the lifetime numbers of 2.0 (Hindi), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Bajirao Mastani. That feat would be remarkable indeed as it would happen in less than a fortnight for the Ajay Devgn starrer. The film would be quite close to the Rs. 200 crores mark by the end of second week and then on Friday it would enter the Rs. 200 Crore Club, hence achieving the feat in 15 days flat.

The period war drama is a film that deserves to go past the Rs. 250 crores mark and if not for Street Dancer 3D coming this Friday, it would have definitely achieved that milestone quite comfortably. However, the arrival of the Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer means that there would be competition for sure. Though the film would still go way past the Rs. 225 crores mark, it would be the journey from there to the Rs. 250 crores target that would be closely observed.
