Ed Finds A Home: The beginning of a series

“Ed Finds A Home is just the beginning of a new series of books from the universe of Ed-a-Mamma,” the Dear Zindagi actress wrote. Ed-a-Mamma, founded by Alia in 2020, is a successful brand offering children’s, teen, and maternity wear. The book series marks a creative expansion for the brand.

Alia expressed her gratitude to the book’s creative team, including Vivek Kamath, Shabnam Minwalla, and Tanvi Bhat, for their contributions. “Their wonderful ideas, inputs and imagination helped bring our first book to life,” she stated. The book is now available for purchase online and at major bookstores, making it accessible to young readers everywhere.

Mumbai’s South Cyber Police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Rajasthan for allegedly threatening actor Salman Khan in a YouTube video.

Accused Identified
The accused, Banwarlal Laturlal Gujar, is a resident of Boarda village in the Hindoli area of Rajasthan. Police identified him after a video surfaced on a channel named ‘Are Chhodo Yar’ containing threats against Khan.
Details of the threat
According to a report by Mid-Day, sources allege that Gujar mentioned the Bishnoi gang while making threats to kill Salman Khan in the video.
Police Response and Investigation
DCP Datta Nalawade of the South Cyber Police Station confirmed the arrest and the charges against Gujar. Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertaining to criminal intimidation (506 & 504) and abetment (34) were invoked, along with Section 66(d) of the Information Technology (IT) Act.

“Considering the seriousness of the case,” DCP Nalawade stated, “a police team was dispatched to Rajasthan for the investigation.” He added that the team, with Gujar in custody, is expected to arrive in Mumbai by today.

This arrest comes amidst heightened security for Salman Khan following the firing incident outside his residence in April 2024. The investigation into this latest threat is ongoing.

Fans of Akshay Kumar will have to wait a bit longer to see him in the much-anticipated comedy film Welcome To The Jungle. The film’s release, originally slated for Christmas 2024, has been pushed back to 2025.

Production delays impact Welcome To The Jungle’s release date

The postponement is reportedly due to the ongoing production. The film still requires multiple shooting schedules, making meeting the tight Christmas 2024 deadline impossible. This shift in release date avoids a potential box office clash with Aamir Khan’s Sitare Zameen Par and the Hollywood release of Mufasa: The Lion King, both slated for December 2024.

Welcome To The Jungle’s original release plans

Earlier reports indicated that producer Firoz A Nadiadwala intended to release Welcome To The Jungle during the lucrative Christmas weekend, mirroring the release strategy of the first Welcome film in 2007. However, as per latest updates, the production timeline necessitated a change in plans.

The film stars Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Rahul Dev, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharib Hashmi, Inaamulhaq, Zakir Hussain, Yashpal Sharma, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez and Disha Patani. Sanjay Dutt, too, was a part of the film originally but has now opted out.

On a similar note, it is worth mentioning here that Aamir Khan has recently completed shooting for Sitare Zameen Par. A video has gone viral on social media which shows Aamir Khan spending quality time with the cast and the crew of the film. The actor is seen sharing a conversation in the video. Another photo shows a clapboard of the film, which confirms the shoot has wrapped.

In a heartfelt plea, Congress leader Szarita Laitphlang has reached out to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, urging him to visit his former teacher and mentor, Eric D’Souza, whose health has been rapidly declining. Laitphlang shared a video message on social media, emphasizing the urgency of the situation and the impact a visit from Khan could have on his ailing mentor.

In her emotional video message, Laitphlang implored the actor to spare a few minutes to visit D’Souza in Goa, highlighting the relatively short distance between Mumbai and Goa, which is just an hour’s flight. “His health is really deteriorating, and he can’t speak anymore,” she said, conveying the gravity of D’Souza’s condition.

She further said in her plea in a caption accompanying the video, “This feels like my final plea, my last attempt to reach out to @iamsrk to humbly request his presence by the side of brother Eric S D’Souza. Laitphlang also shared a video on X (formerly Twitter), aiming to eliminate any doubts about the bond between Shah Rukh Khan and Eric D’Souza. “To all those who may doubt, let me share this video that should dispel any uncertainties about the connection between Shah Rukh Khan and brother Eric S D’Souza. To those wondering why such a meeting matters, understand that Brother Eric was more than a stranger to him—he was a mentor, a guiding light. I do this in honour of my mentor, so that he may find peace knowing their bond is cherished and recover or move to a happier place,” she wrote.

Laitphlang disclosed that her attempts to contact Khan through his manager Pooja Dadlani had been unsuccessful, prompting her to take to social media in a final bid to reach the actor.

Bollywood actor Sunny Deol is set to return to the big screen with the crime drama Soorya, which he began working on in 2022. Directed by M Padmakumar, Soorya is an official adaptation of the acclaimed Malayalam film Joseph (2018). The remake features Deol in the role of a retired cop who is drawn back into the investigative world to solve a murder case, ultimately uncovering a sinister organ-harvesting racket.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the production for Soorya initially commenced in Jaipur in 2022, but due to various scheduling conflicts and Deol’s commitment to other projects, the film’s completion was delayed. However, sources have now confirmed that Deol plans to finish shooting Kamal Mukut’s production by November 2024. This timeline aligns with Deol’s current engagements, as he is in the process of wrapping up another project, Lahore 1947.

Deepak Mukut, son of producer Kamal Mukut, shared insights into the film’s progress, stating, “We have completed over 80 percent of the film. Sunny will complete the shoot very soon.” Despite the extended hiatus, Mukut emphasized the importance of patience and understanding in the film industry. Deepak added, “He was busy with other projects, and we were trying to work out the dates. We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the Deol family for ages, and it’s fine that Sunny couldn’t shoot for our film earlier. We understand his compulsions.”

The decision to cast Deol in the lead role came after he watched Joseph and expressed a keen interest in its gritty narrative. Deepak Mukut recounted Deol’s enthusiasm for the project, noting that the actor immediately agreed to join the remake on the condition that it maintain the same level of intensity and realism as the original. He added, “Sunny is also involved in the creative process. His relationship with us is far more important [than a film]. We’ll wait for him.”

Following the wrap-up of Soorya, Sunny Deol will shift his focus to Border 2, the sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border. The film is scheduled for Republic Day 2026 release – January 23.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is digging deep into gambling, and money laundering, amid Bollywood glamour. Their investigation centers on a Mumbai-based event management firm suspected of recruiting celebrities to promote the Fairplay betting app, a subsidiary of the controversial Mahadev betting app. Big names like Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, and rapper Badshah have come under scrutiny for their alleged involvement. The ED has already recorded statements from Badshah and the managers of Dutt and Fernandez.

As reported by Times Now, this investigation stems from a complaint filed by Viacom18 Media Pvt. Limited, which triggered an FIR by the Maharashtra Cyber Police in Mumbai. Before raiding the event management firm, the ED reportedly obtained a statement from a key individual there. The raids yielded a treasure trove of documents, including contracts with celebrities to promote Fairplay, details on payment methods and transactions, and other crucial company information. Reports suggest Fernandez may have received a hefty sum from a Dubai-based entity, Trim General Trading LLC, for endorsing the app.

The report further states that Badshah’s alleged involvement points towards a Melbourne-based company, Lyukos Group FZF. Documents provided by the rapper to authorities reveal Lyukos Group partnered with two Mumbai talent management firms to promote the betting app. Dutt, on the other hand, is suspected of receiving Rs. 25 lakhs from a Singaporean gaming company to promote the app on social media.

The ED is examining all seized documents and the statements from Badshah and the managers. These statements were forwarded by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell for further investigation.

This isn’t the first time Bollywood has brushed shoulders with the Mahadev app controversy. Last year, celebrities like Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, and Kapil Sharma were questioned by the ED regarding their connections to the app.

Popular Indian rapper Badshah expressed his disappointment after his concert in Dallas, USA, was abruptly terminated midway through the show.  Taking to his social media platform, Badshah penned a lengthy message apologizing to his fans and expressing his frustration with the situation.

 

In his heartfelt note, Badshah stated, “DALLAS, IM so heartbroken and bummed about what happened today.” He acknowledged the enthusiasm of his fans, emphasizing, “You guys are incredible and deserve better.”

According to Badshah, the unexpected halt in the concert stemmed from a “discrepancy” between the local promoters and the production company responsible for the event. The rapper vented his frustration with the lack of professionalism, calling the nonchalance “unacceptable to most performing artists.”

Badshah highlighted the immense effort that goes into creating a large-scale tour. “It takes a considerable amount of energy and effort to put together a tour of this scale,” he wrote. He emphasized the impact on various stakeholders, including fans who purchase tickets and the dedicated crew members who contribute significantly to the production.

“This isn’t fair to the fans who spend their hard-earned money to purchase that ticket,” Badshah remarked, expressing his concern for the fans who were looking forward to a complete performance. He further added, “And it definitely isn’t fair to the whole crew who pours their hearts into putting on these tours. We rehearse for weeks, plan for months and travel tirelessly to bring you the best possible experience.”

Zee TV’s popular show Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye is set for a new entry of Pratiksha Honmukhe. After being ousted from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai overnight, she will be seen in the Zee TV drama and the promo for the same is out already.

The show follows the lives of Amruta (Sriti Jha) – a Maharashtrian girl of modest means, a believer in the sanctity of marriage and working on relationships and on the other hand, Virat (Arjit Taneja) – a Delhi-based Punjabi businessman who has lost faith in the institution because he believes most women are inherently gold-diggers. Recently, viewers witnessed Amruta and Virat’s ‘fake’ wedding, where the duo is trying to find the person responsible for leaking their photos in a compromising position. Amruta discovers that the culprit is Virat’s mother, Babita (Kishori Shahane), but Virat refuses to believe it. He is convinced Amruta is accusing his mother purely for financial gains. In his head, she is just as opportunistic and materialistic as his ex-wife Priyanka was. This leads to a series of events where, in a fit of rage, Virat marries Amruta with the intent of teaching her a lesson for life.

The audience is in for surprises galore with the introduction of Pratiksha Honmukhe as Priyanka, making a grand entry on the show. Priyanka, a South Delhi girl who always aspired to marry a wealthy man and live a luxurious life, had chosen her college sweetheart Virat, who possessed more wealth than she could have ever imagined. As the only child, Priyanka was accustomed to getting everything she wanted. The show has already hinted at Virat’s troubled past, mentioning his ex-wife, who was a gold-digger and the cause of his current negative outlook towards women at large. Now, Priyanka’s unexpected return to his life after so many years promises to stir things up. What will happen when she learns about Amruta and Virat’s marriage?

Pratiksha Honmukhe said “I am excited to join the cast of Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye. Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor is all set to make her non-fiction comeback, joining the popular dance reality show India’s Best Dancer for its fourth season. This marks a new chapter for Kapoor, who has captivated audiences with her on-screen performances for years.

In a report in India Today, it was revealed that the makers were looking to bring in a new Bollywood personality, and Kapoor perfectly fit the bill. Not only is she known for her graceful dancing skills showcased in numerous films, but she also exudes warmth and charm, making her a natural fit for the show’s judging panel.

According to the report, Kapoor readily embraced this exciting new opportunity. Having previously appeared as a guest judge on India’s Best Dancer, she’s familiar with the show’s format and energy. While Kapoor’s presence is confirmed, the other two judges from previous seasons are likely to return. Geeta Kapoor and Terence Lewis, who have been instrumental in guiding contestants through their dancing journeys, are expected to join Karisma on the panel.

Interestingly, Kapoor wasn’t entirely new to television before. Back in 2003, she ventured into the small screen with the Sahara One soap opera Karishma – The Miracles of Destiny.

With filming expected to begin soon, India’s Best Dancer 4 is slated to premiere sometime by the end of July.

Actress Raveena Tandon recently faced a distressing experience when a video surfaced online, showing her being heckled by a mob. The video, posted on June 2 by a social media user claiming to be a freelance journalist, falsely accused Tandon of being drunk and assaulting a senior citizen. The Mumbai Police later clarified that these allegations were baseless and untrue.

Legal action for defamation

In response to these false accusations, Tandon has decided to press defamation charges against the journalist. A defamation notice, dated June 12, has been sent to the individual in question. Tandon’s lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, explained the situation: “Recently an attempt was made to embroil Raveena in a false and frivolous allegation which was clarified in CCTV footage and the allegation was withdrawn. However, a person, claiming to be a journalist, is disseminating false information on X regarding the said incident, which is factually incorrect and misleading. This dissemination of false news appears to be a deliberate attempt to tarnish Raveena’s reputation for ulterior motives.”

Defamation notice sent

Khan further emphasized the steps being taken to address the issue and ensure justice for Tandon. Despite requests to remove the defamatory video, the journalist has refused to comply. The legal team is now taking all necessary measures to protect Tandon’s reputation and seek redressal for the harm caused by these unfounded allegations.

Recognition for bravery

Amidst this turmoil, Tandon’s actions during the incident have not gone unnoticed. A source revealed that she is being recognized by various organizations for her bravery in protecting her driver, who was assaulted by the mob. A human rights organization has invited her to Delhi on August 31 to honour her courageous efforts.

The entertainment industry and fans continue to show their support for Raveena Tandon as she seeks justice. The actress remains steadfast in her resolve to clear her name and hold those responsible for spreading false information accountable.
