Twinkle Khanna, known for her sharp wit and insightful commentary, is back at it, this time aiming at the pervasive issue of fake news. In her column for The Times of India, Twinkle tackles a particularly absurd rumor: her alleged performance for fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Through a blend of humor and reason, Khanna exposes an old allegation. By acknowledging her own lack of dancing prowess, she subtly highlights the absurdity of the claim. She wrote, “I have even seen my name on a mainstream television channel ticker saying I had performed a medley of songs for Dawood.”

The former actress further added, “Considering that even my children think my dancing skills are akin to watching a WWF match between a lone wrestler and gravity, the news channels should have known that Dawood would have chosen more skilled performers. But such is the world of fake news.”

The actress-turned-author’s column goes beyond personal experience, addressing the broader societal impact of fake news. She cites manipulated news stories and the spread of misinformation – particularly on social media platforms like WhatsApp and YouTube – as major concerns. She recounts an interaction with a taxi driver in Chennai who attributed actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide to false theories circulating online.

Bollywood actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ravi Kishan is caught up in a major controversy after a 25-year-old woman filed a civil suit in a Mumbai court claiming that he is her biological father. The woman, named Shinova, alleges that Kishan had a relationship with her mother, Aparna Soni, and seeks a DNA test to prove her claim.

According to a report in PTI, Shinova’s suit also urges the court to recognize her as Kishan’s biological daughter and to restrain him from denying her paternity. She has also filed a writ petition before the Bombay High Court to quash an FIR registered against Soni and others in Uttar Pradesh after she publicly declared Kishan as her father.

The case, which was registered in Lucknow, involves allegations of criminal conspiracy, giving false evidence, extortion, and intentional insult, made by Kishan’s wife, Preeti Shukla. Shinova’s petition argues that the FIR was filed in Lucknow despite the events occurring in Mumbai, where all parties involved reside.

According to Shinova’s civil suit, her mother, Soni met Kishan while working as a journalist and they entered into a relationship, eventually getting married in 1991. However, due to personal issues, they couldn’t live together for long. Shinova was born in 1998, but it was later revealed that Kishan was already married. The suit claims that Soni and Kishan decided their child would call the actor “uncle” due to their complicated situation.

Shinova alleges that despite this, Kishan and Soni took care of her. However, when she and her mother visited Kishan to offer best wishes for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, he allegedly refused to meet them and misbehaved. Subsequently, they held a press conference to assert Shinova’s rights as Kishan’s biological daughter.

According to India Today, Kishan’s wife, Preeti Shukla, disputes these claims and has filed a complaint alleging a conspiracy to defame her husband and influence the elections. The complaint, filed in Lucknow, accuses Soni and others of attempting to allegedly extort money worth Rs. 20 crores from Kishan and tarnish his reputation.

Soni denies any involvement in criminal activities and asserts that she had sent a legal notice to Kishan seeking financial support for their daughter’s education and future. She claims harassment and maintains that she is only seeking recognition for her daughter’s rights.

Following this incident, Khan’s brother, Arbaaz Khan, issued a statement on behalf of the family, expressing their distress over the “disturbing” incident and pledging their full cooperation with the Mumbai Police investigation.

In response to the threats, Salman Khan was authorized to carry a personal firearm and reportedly acquired a new armoured vehicle for additional protection.

War was the biggest blockbuster of 2019 and was loved not just for its action and suspense but also for its hit soundtrack. One of the most memorable aspects of the film was the ‘Jai Jai Shivshankar’ featuring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff dancing together. It led to a frenzy in cinemas as the audience went crazy witnessing the two stars dancing their hearts out. As the producers, Yash Raj Films (YRF), start work on War 2, they have ensured that moviegoers get to see Hrithik Roshan and his new co-star, Jr NTR, in a dancing avatar.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “It’s going to be Hrithik vs Jr NTR in War 2. But the makers smartly and organically have come up with a situation in the film where the two male leads will be seen dancing to a catchy song. It is composed by Pritam and is considered to be one of the biggest highlights of the film.”

The source further said, “Both Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR are known for their dance moves. Interestingly, both were recently seen in two-hero films – Hrithik in War and Jr NTR in RRR (2022). And both films had two hero dance numbers that were unanimously loved (Jr NTR shook a leg with Ram Charan in the Oscar-winning song ‘Naatu Naatu’). For War 2, they both come together and hence, one can expect fireworks on the big screen during their number. It’ll be like ‘Jai Jai Shivshankar’ meeting ‘Naatu Naatu’!”

The source signed off by commenting, “Producer Aditya Chopra and director Ayan Mukerji are clear that War 2 is not just an actioner but it’s a wholesome entertainer and songs will play a big role in not just selling the film but also taking the story forward. If all goes well and if the aam junta accepts the track with open arms, it will not just create hungama in the cinemas but in the long run, it can also emerge as the mother of all dance songs.”

War 2 also features Kiara Advani. It will be released in cinemas worldwide on August 14, 2025.
