Ranveer Singh is starring in Yash Raj Films’ Jayeshbhai Jordaar, a big-screen family entertainer that will present a new brand of hero and heroism that is rare in Indian cinema. Ranveer plays an unlikely hero who stands up for his unborn child and wife and in that process, has to take on his family that’s representative of the patriarchal society that we live in. Ranveer considers the film to be a must-watch and today, he hosted a special screening for underprivileged kids on the first day of the film’s release!

Ranveer has been hosting his film’s screening for kids since his last release 83 as he wants to spread the joy of watching his clean, family entertainers with as many people as possible. He says, “I’m fortunate to be collaborating with the biggest filmmakers who feel I can be a part of their larger-than-life vision for cinema in India. While I will predominantly look to do such films that unite audiences across the country for a community viewing experience, I will also choose important films like Jayeshbhai Jordaar that satirically talk about patriarchy and toxic masculinity. Euphoria star Jacob Elordi and The Batman’s Barry Keoghan join Rosamund Pike in Academy Award-winning writer and director Emerald Fennell’s next film Saltburn.

According to Deadline, the upcoming film is described as a story of obsession, other plot details are being kept under wraps. MRC will take the package to the Cannes market next week, and it is expected to be one of the hotter properties on the market. The film is Fennell’s follow-up to Promising Young Woman, which was nominated for several Oscars and won Best Original Screenplay for Fennell.

Principal photography is set to begin this summer in the UK. The pic will be produced by Fennell and LuckyChap Entertainment’s Josey McNamara, Tom Ackerley and Margot Robbie. As the report notes, Saltburn will mark Elordi’s most high-profile feature film role following his breakout performance as Nate on the massive HBO hit series Euphoria. He also starred in Netflix’s romantic comedy film series The Kissing Booth and recently appeared in 20th Century Studios’ Deep Water alongside Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas.

Barry Keoghan recently starred as a superhero in Marvel Studios’ Eternals, and as a villain in Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Batman. Meanwhile, Rosamund Pike currently stars as Moiraine Damodred on the Prime Video fantasy series, Wheel of Time.

On Thursday, Salman Khan kick-started the shoot of his next titled Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. The superstar started the shoot at a location in Vile Parle on Thursday noon. Pooja Hegde who is the lead actress in the film took to her Instagram handle to share a picture of herself from the sets of the film.

On Friday, Pooja dropped a picture of her posing on the sets of Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali while flaunting a bracelet that is similar to the one Salman Khan is known to wear. Dressed in an oversized black shirt, Pooja was glowing in the picture as she smiled at the camera. Sharing the picture, she wrote, “Shoot begins…” and tagged Salman Khan, Farhad Samji, and SK Films in the post.

Meanwhile, a source informed Bollywood Hungama about the cast of the big film. “The three key characters of this story are played by Salman Khan, Venkatesh and Pooja Hegde. The rest are all in supporting roles, and there is a big ensemble being put in place for Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. Apart from the trio, the others in cast include Aayush Sharma, Shehnaaz Gill, Raghav, and Zaheer Iqbaal.”

Meanwhile, Salman will be shooting an action sequence in the city for over a period of 10 days, following which he will be off to Dubai for IIFA Awards. He then resumes the film shoot at Mehboob Studios from the first week of June. Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali is planned as a December 30 release. The movie is directed by Farhad Samji.

Actor Sudha Chandran has long been drawn to dual characters and considers herself fortunate to have finally got the opportunity to play one on the popular show Naagin 6. The actor who plays Seema and her mother Tara in the show likes the contrasts between the two roles.

“This is the first time I’ve ever played two characters. It’s quite thrilling, and I’ve always wanted to play two characters. When I saw actors playing dual roles, I wished I could do the same, but I never had the chance. Balaji Telefilms gave me the opportunity after 35-36 years, which I treasured,” she said talking to IANS.

“I’ve always felt that variation is very important; if you watch me in Naagin 6, the character of Tara I play is an adivasi, and I’ve made her seem quite primitive and kept her makeup very dark,” she says of the distinctions she has made between two characters,” she added.

“I do, however, have plaits and a long bindi for Seema’s role, whom I am also playing. It has a beautiful appearance. When I saw myself in the mirror as an actor, I realized how different and distinct these two looks are,” she continued.

When describing the difficulties, she added,”The most challenging component of playing various roles is needing to appear different. Mannerisms must be distinct, especially when within the same frame. The most enjoyable component is seeing yourself in both positions.”

She further revealed how she found out about the double role. “I recall the costume designer sending me an email saying that these are Seema’s mother’s sarees, to which I responded, ‘Perhaps you handed these to me in error, as I am playing Seema.’ She informed me that I am playing two roles, which surprised me because no one had informed me of this information. But I was never worried because I was secure in my ability and prepared,” she elaborated.

Jacques Audiard will direct the musical comedy Emilia Perez starring Spanish trans actress Karla Sofía Gascón which The Veterans and CAA Media Finance will introduce to buyers in Cannes next week.

According to deadline, Director Jacques Audiard will helm Emilia Perez, a comedy that will star Karla Sofia Gascón, with talks underway with Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana. It’s a musical comedy about an El Chapo-type fugitive who can’t get away from the law so has a sex change. Ten years later she misses her children immensely and returns as their aunt. Library Pictures International is financing, and The Veterans will be selling international along with CAA Media Finance, which is also selling North American territories.

Gascón is an up-and-coming Spanish trans actress whose screen credits include El Cura Y El Veleno and Nosotros Los Nobles. Zoe Saldana stars in the Avatar and Guardians Of The Galaxy franchises, while Gomez’s acting credits include Spring Breakers, The Dead Don’t Die and A Rainy Day In New York. Gomez also voices the character of Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania film franchise.

South Korean actor Kim Jung Hyun, who began a hiatus following a slew of controversies, will soon be making his return to the small screen as the male lead in MBC’s upcoming show Season of Kkok Du.

According to Korean tabloid Soompi, Kim Jung Hyun’s agency Story J Company clarified reports on May 13 and stated that the actor has received an offer and is currently in talks for the drama. It is a fantasy medical drama about a high-ranking grim reaper named Kkok Du, who is the only being to exist in the underworld. Every 99 years, the cold and cruel Kkok Du must take a break from his job in the underworld and spend 49 days in the mortal realm and this time, he winds up inhabiting the body of the human Do Jin Woo. While living as Do Jin Woo, he meets Han Gye Jeol, a female doctor who has the mysterious ability to order Kkok Du around.

Kim Jung Hyun, who previously starred in hit drama Mr. Queen, was embroiled in controversy over his private life in July of last year, facing accusations that his relationship with his former girlfriend Seo Ye Ji interfered with his professional matters on the set of his MBC drama series Time. In September of the same year, Kim Jung Hyun issued a statement of apology for his controversy. The actor was later involved in a contract dispute with his previous label, during which he claimed it spread false information about himself. After resolving his contract issues, the actor signed with Story J Company in September of last year.

If Kim Jung Hyun accepts the offer, it will be his first television appearance since his hiatus began in early 2021. He last portrayed the role of King Cheol Jong in the February 2021 drama Mr. Queen. Earlier this year, Kim Jung Hyun was also cast in an upcoming independent film, marking the end of his hiatus following his controversies.
