Ektaa Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap’s most awaited film Dobaaraa is all set for theatrical release on 19th August 2022. Tapsee Pannu starrer film is a fresh story which is said to be a completely new take from the director on thrillers. Dobaaraa is a new age thriller that reunites Tapsee and Anurag for the third time. Meanwhile, the forthcoming film is being backed by content queen Ekta Kapoor who never shies away from backing unique projects.

Dobaaraa, which is one of the most highly anticipated films of 2022, has left the audience biting their nails since the teaser was released last year. The upcoming film is a cutthroat cliffhanger, extremely edgy at its core, and has a vibe that can leave you breathless.

Dobaaraa also reunited Taapsee Pannu with Pavail Gulati, who worked with the actress in the critically acclaimed Thappad, released in 2020.

Dobaaraa is helmed by Anurag Kashyap and is being jointly produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Cult Movies and Sunir Khetarpal’s ATHENA.

Skydance Television, Concord Originals, and Jennifer Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions are teaming up to develop a limited series based on Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project marks the first from a deal between the three companies to develop original material based on Concord’s library of musicals. It will be taken to potential buyers in the near future. Rachel Shukert, who created The Baby-Sitters Club for Netflix, will adapt the musical and serve as showrunner. Shukert and Lopez will executive produce the project along with Nuyorican’s Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina; Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bost, Sophia Dilley and Concord CEO Scott Pascucci.

“The story of Cinderella is as timeless now as ever,” said Skydance Television president Bill Bost. “This aspirational story of romance, unconventional families and the surprising power of wishes has inspired audiences around the world for centuries, and we are thrilled to be working with Jennifer, Rachel, Concord and The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization to bring our fresh take to the screen.”

“Rodgers & Hammerstein elevated the already magical story of Cinderella with their iconic music that has attracted legends of screen and stage throughout its many beloved, award-winning iterations over the years,” said Sophia Dilley, senior vp development and production at Concord Originals. “Our partnership with Skydance and Nuyorican on this project is the first step of many towards our collective goal of championing timeless classics for a new generation, and Rachel is the perfect voice to expand upon this story in a contemporary way.”

One of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s most popular titles, Cinderella was originally written for television, debuting in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, who was nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance. As the report mentions, the program’s debut in 1957 on CBS was watched by an estimated 100 million people, the biggest audience ever for a TV broadcast at the time. The show was re-made for TV in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren and Celeste Holm. Another remake followed in 1997 with Brandy Norwood as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother which also drew huge viewership.

Sarah Paulson, Anthony Mackie, Martin Freeman, Uzo Aduba, Nick Robinson and Hillary Baack have signed on to star in the film adaptation of Bruce Norris’ acclaimed play Clybourne Park.

According to Deadline, Bruce Norris’ adaptation of his incendiary Pulitzer-, Tony- and Olivier award-winning play about race and real estate in America will to be directed by Pam MacKinnon. Tony Award winner MacKinnon, who will make her feature debut, first launched Norris’ Clybourne Park on Broadway, winning a 2012 Tony Award for Best Play and a nomination for Best Direction. Clybourne Park is developed by Friend and produced by Friend and Kevin Loader. The film is due to shoot in the fall in the UK and on location in the U.S. Set up as a spin-off of sorts to Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin In The Sun, the play switches between mirrored events in the same Chicago area during 1959 and 50 years after in 2009.

As per the report, the subject of Norris’ play is “Clybourne Park, a sleepy, ‘status quo’ suburb of Chicago, which is sparked to life when a group of ‘well-meaning’ neighbors convene a meeting to voice their concerns—dripping with politeness, apparent tolerance and searching innuendo. A blistering debate over property lines and community devolves into all-out war.”

After the much-awaited and speculated wedding of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt took place last month, rumour mills started churning out dates for the next big wedding. It has been rumoured that actor Athiya Shetty will be tying the knot with her cricketer boyfriend KL Rahul in December this year. While the duo has not spoken about the same, Athiya’s father and actor Suniel Shetty recently addressed the rumours.

Talking to ETimes at a business event, Suniel said, “She is my daughter, she will get married sometime. I would want my son to also get married, the sooner the better. It’s their choice. As far as KL Rahul is concerned, I love the boy. And it is for them to decide what they want to do, because times have changed. Beti aur beta dono hi responsible hai (My daughter and son are both responsible people). I would like them to take the decision. My blessings are always there for them.”

Athiya and KL Rahul have been dating for quite some time and were seen together publicly for the first time at the screening of Tadap, which marked Ahan Shetty’s debut. On the other hand, Ahan is currently dating Tania Shroff.

Hollywood actress Emily Blunt is attached to star in the upcoming criminal conspiracy film Pain Hustlers with David Yates set to helm the feature. Production is set to begin August 22.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, written by Wells Tower, the film tells the story of a high school dropout who lands a job with a failing pharmaceutical startup in a Florida strip mall. She catapults the company into high life and finds herself at the center of a criminal conspiracy with deadly consequences.  Production on the picture will begin August 22 and the project will be introduced to buyers at the Cannes Film Market by CAA Media Finance.

Pain Hustlers is produced by Lawrence Grey through his Grey Matter Productions banner and Wychwood Pictures. Cyrus Mojibi, Patrick Wade, Lawrence Kao and Lloyd Everard are co-producing.

On the work front, Emily Blunt most recently starred in Jungle Cruise and will next appear in Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic Oppenheimer. Other work credits include Edge of Tomorrow (2014), Into the Woods (2014), Mary Poppins Returns (2018), Sicario (2015), The Girl on the Train (2016), A Quiet Place (2018) and the sequel A Quiet Place Part II (2021) Meanwhile, BAFTA-winning filmmaker David Yates is fresh off the release of his third Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

American rapper Young Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, was charged with seven additional felonies on Wednesday, including possession of drugs and illegal firearms, days after being arrested with rapper Gunna in a sweeping indictment of alleged gang members in Atlanta.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the rapper is now facing a slew of additional charges, including possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute and possession of unidentified illegal guns, like a machine gun or a sawed-off shot gun. Per a report from Atlanta’s WSB-TV, the new charges were the result of items found in Young Thug’s home during Monday’s arrest. The new counts add onto the existing indictment against the rapper, which included charges of illegal gang activity and conspiracy to violate the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.

In the original 88-page indictment unveiled Monday, prosecutors claimed Young Thug, Gunna and 26 others were members of a purportedly violent criminal street gang called Young Slime Life. The indictment includes a wide-ranging list of 181 acts that prosecutors say were committed starting in 2013 as part of the alleged racketeering conspiracy to further the gang’s interests. The various YSL members stand accused of crimes, including murder, carjacking, armed robbery, drug dealing and illegal firearm possession. Young Thug was arrested on Monday. An indictment filed Monday in Fulton County Superior Court accuses Gunna of violating Georgia’s anti-racketeering law following which, he was booked in jail Wednesday morning.

Others alleged YSL members have also been arrested, but a number have still not been taken into custody.

On Tuesday, Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel told local media, “Mr. Williams committed no crime whatsoever,” and that he would “fight till his last drop of blood to clear him.” An attorney for Gunna did not immediately return a request for comment from Billboard. In Tuesday’s press conference Fulton County DA Fani T. Willis said YSL had “done havoc in our community” and that she would be seeking the “maximum penalties” for those involved, including life in prison for some. “It does not matter what your notoriety is, what your fame is,” Willis said. “If you come to Fulton County, Georgia, and you commit crimes … we are going to prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.”
