Revealed: Inside details of Mahesh Babu’s next with SS Rajamouli

Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu who has a big release this week Sarkaru Vaari Paata will be moving to his next project sometime in July. Hopefully by then S S Rajamouli would have the script for the proposed project ready. To be jointly penned by Rajamouli and his screenwriter father Vijayendra Prasad, the untitled film is said to be a contemporary adventure-thriller.

Revealed: Inside details of Mahesh Babu’s next with SS Rajamouli

“Mahesh Babu is not too keen on doing a costume drama or a period film at this stage of his career. His fans like to see him in contemporary themes with a social message. And after Baahubali and RRR, Rajamouli has had enough of chariots, bows-arrows and vintage cars. So Mahesh Babu’s film will be set in a contemporary setting.”

More importantly there will be no Bollywood heroine in the Mahesh Babu-Rajamouli project. Until a year back Bollywood hotties like Shraddha Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Pooja Hegde were being paid astronomical amounts to lend their presence in Telugu cinema. This trend has changed after the pan-India success of Pushpa and KGF. Both starred leading ladies who are unknown to Hindi audiences.

Says a source close to Mahesh Babu, “He doesn’t need any pricey heroine from Bollywood. Nor does he crave to be a pan-India star. If it happens, it happens. If not he is more than happy with his fan base in Andhra and Telangana.”

Supreme Court clears the OTT release of Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund

Not too long ago, the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund faced a lawsuit wherein filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar sought a stay on release of the movie on OTT platform. And now the Supreme Court has passed an order allowing the release of the film on OTT platforms.

Supreme Court clears the OTT release of Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund

The Supreme Court bench of justice comprising of Indira Banerjee and AS Bopanna prima facie found the High Court order was against the balance of convenience. In its order it also claimed that the principle regarding the grant of interim relief was overlooked by the Telangana High Court, where Kumar had filed an appeal.

The filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar had claimed that he was working on a film based on Akhilesh Paul. Despite the fact that the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund was based on the life of coach Vijay Barse, Kumar claimed that the film also covered many aspects of Paul’s life. He alleged copyright violation and moved the court against the makers of the Nagaraj Manjule directorial. However, a settlement was made between the makers which led to Kumar receiving Rs. 5 crores.

Even though he received the sum, Kumar went on to move the High court claiming that he was misled by the Jhund team. But the Telangana High Court observed that since the settlement of Rs. 5 crores was made, the filmmaker was slapped with a fine of Rs. 10 lakhs that was asked to be donated to the PM relief fund.

Followed by this, Kumar filed a plea and appealed to the court to stay the release of the Nagaraj Manjule directorial on OTT platform. However, in the recent development, the Supreme Court has given a clean chit to the makers of Jhund to go ahead with the release. The final disposal of the case will be held on May 13, 2022.

Title track of Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 attached to the theatrical print of Doctor Strange; to play along with the trailer of Avatar 2

The title track of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was released earlier this week and has been receiving a positive response from the audience. The title track is sung by Neeraj Shridhar and recreated by Tanishk Bagchi. The film is a sequel to the 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The second part is a completely different story with nostalgia-generating elements retained from the first part. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film stars Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, and Tabu in the lead. The title track of Bhool Bhulaiyaa was a massive hit even back when it was released in 2007 and the sequel has also been receiving the same kind of love from the audience. The makers have now attached a part of the groovy track to the print of Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness in India.

Title track of Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 attached to the theatrical print of Doctor Strange; to play along with the trailer of Avatar 2

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness which has been released in India today is seeing a terrific opening. The special midnight shows in metro cities were nearly housefull. The film is expected to have a great opening on day one. The makers of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 have attached a chunk of the title track of the song to the theatrical print of Doctor Strange. One minute of the title track will be played before the movie begins along with the trailer of the much-anticipated film Avatar: The Way of Water.

While it is a common practice to attach trailers of films to prints of films running in the theatres, it is probably a first where the title track of the film is being attached instead of the trailer.

Meanwhile, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will see Kartik Aaryan play the role of Rooh Baba, who can see ghosts. Apart from Rajpal Yadav reprising the role of Chhote Pandit, the makers have opted for a completely new approach for the film. “Comedy and horror, these are the two only aspects that we have picked up from part 1. However, we have treated it differently. I am sure that there are certain plot points in the film which surprise you. You’d be like, ‘Okay, I didn’t expect this’. I hope the audience reacts the way we expect them to. There’s a technical term, ‘wanted reactions’. It means that we want the audience to react in a certain way or laugh at a particular scene. At times, it becomes a case of ‘unwanted reactions’, when we want the audience to laugh in a particular scene and they don’t. Aur kabhi kabhi hum nahi chahte ki public hasein aur wahaan woh hasti hai! So we want that log scene ke saath hasein, scene par na hasein,” director Anees Bazmee recently said reacting to comparisons to part 1 that starred Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan.
