Earlier this week, Karan Johar created a lot of drama on social media over the end of Koffee With Karan. But, in his first statement, he didn’t mention that the show will now take the digital route. In his second statement, he confirmed that the season 7 of the chat show will be aired on Disney+ Hotstar. The first guests would be his Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani lead actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. But, it is also being reported that Telugu superstar Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, who starred in blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1, will also be gracing this season of the chat show.

According to a report in an outlet, the makers of Koffee With Karan season 7 have reached out to the teams of Pushpa stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna. With the release of blockbuster film, Allu’s fame shot to another level. The pan-India movie saw massive collections with immense interest in South movies in North belt as well. Rashmika, on the other hand, has been called the national crush and for all the right reasons. She has an array of line-up. It seems like the makers have invited several celebrities from down South for this season of the talk show.

“Koffee with Karan will not be returning…on TV! Because every great story needs a good twist, I’m delighted to announce that Season 7 of Koffee With Karan will stream exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar! The biggest movie stars from across India will return to the couch to spill the beans while drinking some koffee. There will be games, there will be rumours put to rest – and there will be conversations that go deep, about love, loss and everything we’ve all been through over the last few years. Koffee With Karan, ‘steaming’ soon, only on Disney+ Hotstar. Toodles,” Karan said on Wednesday.

On the work front, Allu Arjun is currently working on the sequel of Pushpa: The Rise titled Pushpa 2: The Rule. The film will mark the return of Rashmika Mandanna. Meanwhile, she is set to debut in Bollywood opposite Sidharth Malhotra in Mission Majnu. She is also starring in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Goodbye, helmed by Vikas Bahl. She has signed Vijay’s next project and also Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s next Animal alongside Ranbir Kapoor.

The Marathi cinema took a giant leap with the blockbuster success of Sairat (2016). The Nagraj Manjule-directorial earned around Rs. 90 crore at the box office and became a nationwide rage, despite being a regional movie. Post-Sairat, none of the films did such business. Nevertheless, several films turned out to be huge grossers. Post-pandemic, films like Jhimma and Pandu worked big time. In February 2022, the period action film Pawankhind emerged as a blockbuster while Sher Shivraj, which was released two weeks back, also managed to put up encouraging numbers.

And now, all eyes are on Dharmaveer, which releases next week. It has now come to light that the trailer of the film will be launched at a grand event in Mumbai’s Taj Land’s End hotel on Saturday, May 7. Interestingly, the chief guests at this event are Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and superstar Salman Khan.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Dharmaveer is the biopic of the late Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe. Mr Uddhav Thackeray’s father established Shiv Sena. Hence, he decided to happily attend the trailer launch as it gives a tribute to one of the most revered leaders in the history of Shiv Sena.”

The source continued, “Dharmaveer is written and directed by ​Pravin Tarde. He shares a close bond with Salman Khan. Pravin Tarde was a part of Salman’s 2021 Eid fare, Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai. Also, he directed and acted in Mulshi Pattern (2018), which was remade by Salman Khan in Hindi as Antim – The Final Truth. Hence, Salman Khan agreed to attend the event when he was sent the invitation since he is aware that Pravin Tarde has put his heart and soul into making Dharmaveer. Moreover, that it’s based on a significant leader was also a big reason for Salman to give his nod to attend the trailer launch.”

Noted actor and director Prasad Oak essays the role of Anand Dighe in Dharmaveer. Born in 1951, Anand Dighe was considered to be second only to Shiv Sena’s iconic founder Bal Thackeray in terms of popularity. He died in the year 2000 due to a heart attack. His fans were so shocked by his demise that they burned down the hospital where he was admitted. The teaser of the film was released on April 13 and it shows a glimpse of a hospital being set on fire.

Akshay Kumar’s next Prithviraj is based on the life and valour of the fearless and mighty Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. He is essaying the role of the legendary warrior who fought valiantly against the merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor. Given the subject, Yash Raj Films and director Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi wanted the film to be the most authentic representation of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s life and we have confirmed information that Aditya Chopra converted an entire floor of YRF into a research wing for Prithviraj!

Chandraprakash says, “From the word go, we wanted to pay the biggest and the most glorious tribute to Samrat Prithviraj. We did everything necessary to ensure that we were making the most authentic retelling of the life and times of the mighty Hindu warrior! Step one to attempt such an extravagant historical is always research and we wanted to be absolutely thorough and accurate.”

He adds, “I had personally worked on the script from 2004 to 2019 updating the script every year! So, naturally, I had a lot of material that could be used as reference points to write the final draft of the film and it could also be used as additional literature for us and the actors to revisit during the course of making the film. There were several books, variety of costumes that were being used as references, armour and weapons, etc. that were brought into YRF before the filming started.”

He further says, “There were so many items that Aditya Chopra converted an entire floor of YRF into a research wing for Prithviraj. We kept the research bay fully operational till the last day of shoot! Now, we are exploring a plan to showcase all this research work to people and the teams are working to see how best they can display this research so that people understand the magnitude of work that was undertaken to give the best possible salute to the glorious king Prithviraj.”

Akshay Kumar adds, “When I was narrated the film by Dr. Saab, I was taken aback by the amount of research that he has done while writing this film. Writing and directing a historical is not an easy job and I was deeply impressed that he has left no stone unturned to ensure that we are paying the most glorious tribute to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s life and valour. He waited for 18 years of his life nurturing and making Prithviraj the most glorious retelling of the Samrat’s life! I hope that people love this film and it becomes the most authentic reference point for the mighty king’s life.”

Prithviraj has been directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who is best known for directing the television epic Chanakya and the critically acclaimed film Pinjar. The ethereally gorgeous Manushi Chhillar plays the role of King Prithviraj’s beloved Sanyogita and her launch is definitely one of the most awaited debuts of 2022. The film is set to release on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

According to a report in an outlet, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt will kick off season 7 of Koffee With Karan with the shoot scheduled for May 10. Though many expected Bhatt to arrive with her now-husband Ranbir Kapoor, her appearance with Singh is to promote their next film with Karan Johar, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The actress will spill the beans on her wedding, her Hollywood project with Gal Gadot and more. Singh will talk about his upcoming slate of films.
