Bollywood Hungama had exclusively reported last month that the first Indo-Nepali film – Prem Geet 3 is all set to be released on Friday, September 23. The announcement got a rousing reception, surprising everyone. The poster, teaser, trailer and even the songs have been noticed and appreciated. Hence, the trade and industry are eagerly looking forward to the film’s release, which will take place two days from now.

And as per sources, the advance booking of Prem Geet 3 is off to a rocking start. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Prem Geet 3 will be released in 1200 screens across the world, out of which it’ll release in 200 screens in Nepal. It’s the home market where nearly 70-80% of tickets have been sold out already for day 1. An opening of Rs. 2 crores is expected from here. Meanwhile, in India, it’ll be released in 500 screens. Due to the hype as well as National Cinema Day celebrations, tickets will be sold for just Rs. 75, 75% of the tickets have been sold out! We expect it’ll open at around Rs. 1.50 crores.”

The source added, “Prem Geet 3 will also be released in 500 screens, UAE, United Kingdom, Canada, USA, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Japan, South Korea and many other countries in Europe. In these places, an opening of Rs. 2 crores is expected. In short, the opening day numbers would be around Rs. 5.50 crores. This is great news for a film, which has been made in just Rs. 11 crores (Rs. 6 crores being the cost of production and Rs. 5 crores being P&A costs).

Indian filmmaker Subhash Kale, the producer of Prem Geet 3, said, “Prem Geet 3 is the first Indo-Nepali film to be released in cinemas. I was sure it’s an apt film to begin this trend as it has scale, grandeur, emotions and music. It gives me immense joy to see that the film has generated such excitement. I am sure audiences would enjoy seeing this labour of love on the big screen.”

Prem Geet 3 stars Pradeep Khadka and Kristina Gurung in leading roles along with Shiva Shrestha, Maotse Gurung, Sunil Thapa and Manish Raut. It is directed by Santosh Sen and the late Chhetan Gurung. Chhetan Gurung also wrote the film along with Mandeep Gautam. Besides Subhash Kale, Santosh Sen, Prashant Kumar Gupta and Sushama Shiromanee are the producers of Prem Geet 3.

RSVP in association with House of Talkies have announced their upcoming project, The Support Group, an edge-of-the-seat series that is truly Indian but unlike anything else out there just yet, getting Prashant Nair onboard as the Director/Showrunner. Produced by RSVP, with Sidharth Jain as the co-producer, The Support Group is the story of 3 characters from very different backgrounds who form an uneasy alliance to escape the consequences of an accidental killing. It is a multi-season series about normal, everyday people pushed to the brink, deeply conflicted by the choices that have led them to the very dark places they find themselves in.

French/Indian writer-director Prashant Nair’s Tryst With Destiny premiered at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival where it won the Best Screenplay Award. Prior to that, he directed two episodes of Amazon Prime’s Made In Heaven. His 2015 feature, Umrika became India’s first Sundance winner when it picked up the audience award for world cinema and became one of Netflix India’s earlier acquisitions. He is repped by Verve and attorney Marios Rush. This would be Prashant and Sidharth Jain’s (House of Talkies) second collaboration, having just completed shooting for the show Trial By Fire, a limited series soon to be released on a major OTT Platform.

Ronnie Screwvala says, “With The Support Group, our goal is to create the kind of show that keeps you on the edge of your seat, full of twists and gasp-out-loud moments you can’t help but binge straight through the night. A show that pushes the envelope and doesn’t hold back from shocking – but never gratuitously and always with integrity. The darkness depicted in ‘The Support Group’ will be infused with humour and irony, ensuring that for every shudder there’s also a laugh. The show will dig deep into the rich cultural heritage and nuances of contemporary life in India as a springboard for what will hopefully be a unique viewing experience.”

RSVP’s landscape of upcoming projects includes feature films like Pippa, Mission Majnu, Captain India, and SamBahadur. On the series front, Mismatched Season 2 is due for release this quarter on Netflix. RSVP is also collaborating with Richie Metha for a series on the Bhopal Gas Tragedy.

Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal are known for their unconventional choice of projects and the same is also reflected in the style they have opted for their wedding. The Fukrey actors are expected to tie the knot in a couple of weeks, and we recently got a glimpse of their wedding invite which is designed by Puneet Gupta. The Save-The-Date invite has elements of a movie poster, with a small town vibe t it and features the sketches of Richa and Ali.

A source close to the couple not only gave us a sneak peek into the invite but also said, “The actor duo got a friend to design their wedding save the date who custom sketched their faces into kitschy pop art design. The invite has a retro 90s feel made in a shape of a matchbox that reads – “Couple Matches” with a quirky sketch of Richa in a traditional saree with a ghunghat whereas Ali’s sketch is seen in suit-boot avatar as the two are seen riding a bicycle.”

The source went on to add, “Not the ones to make conventional choice, actor duo Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s unique personalities are woven into the kind of wedding they wish to have. Even the elements surrounding their wedding has been unique to who they are. It’s a known fact the two actors are quirky and have a unique aesthetic sense of their own.”

Speaking about making the sketch for them, designer Puneet Gupta said, “The Save-the-date is about celebrating being an 80’s kid and taking inspiration from Vintage Indian poster art. It is also kind of interesting to do a very different and quirky take on the couple along with a retro twist and a touch of Bollywood.”

Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, who had postponed their wedding due to the pandemic, decided to tie the knot in the first week of October. The couple will be having a big Indian wedding with ceremonies to be held in Delhi and Mumbai. Reports have it that they will be tying the knot in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai, followed by receptions that will be hosted in the city as well as in Delhi.

Ahead of the release of Chup: The Revenge of the Artist, the lead actress of the venture, Shreya Dhanwanthary exclusively spoke about the R Balki directorial with Bollywood Hungama. During her candid conversation with us, she revealed how Chup happened to her while sharing the story behind her casting.

When asked if Dhanwanthary was the first choice for the romantic-thriller, she asserted, “I’m assuming I’m the first choice for the role because I wrote a love letter to Balki and said, if he had anything ever for me, please let me know. And he immediately responded saying, Yes, I actually do have something for you please meet me on Monday, and I go and meet him on Monday. And he tells me the story and says that if you want it, it’s yours. And I’m completely shocked, staring at him. And I’m like, Yes, I do. I want it. And he’s like, it’s yours. So that was the best day.”

Shreya further added, “And then I found out later, that when I left the room, he tells one of the writers present in the room. He said I had two girls in mind for this role. It’s great, I met Shreya. And I’m sure she will be great for the part. But I wish I met the other girls too. So, the writer asks him, Sir, if I may ask you, who’s the other girls that you had in mind? So see, either I wanted the new girl from Scam [1992], or I wanted the new world from [The] Family Man.”

Concluding her answer, the Ladies Room actress said, “And then the writer tells Balki that they’re the same girl. And he’s like, Oh, great that I made a great decision. I love telling the story. But yeah, I’m hoping based on that story, that I was the only choice for the role.”.

As she continued with us, the 34-year-old actress also shared her experience of working with the cast of Chup. She told, “They are both immensely talented and established actors along with the lovely, effervescent Pooja Bhatt who is my soulmate. And it was an absolute privilege working with the three of them. For me, it was like I was a kid in a candy store.” Talking about the film, the Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Deol starrer is slated to release on September 23, 2022.

House Of The Dragon‘s average viewership per episode has grown at a rather steady pace. The show premiered a month ago on HBO and is the first Game of Thrones spinoff series.

According to Variety, the fifth episode of the prequel series drew 3% more U.S. viewers than Episode 4. Additionally, Season 1 is now averaging 29 million viewers per episode across its first five episodes. Game of Thrones averaged more than 44 million viewers per episode for its eighth and final season in 2019.

Reportedly, Episode 1 garnered 10 million viewers, gaining viewers steadily with each episode except Episode 3, which came out on Labour’s Day weekend and saw a drop of 1 million in cable viewership. Per the report, Episode 5 statistics combine Nielsen’s measurement of Sunday’s four cable airings with the number of streaming viewers across HBO Max and other HBO platforms.

When isolating linear viewership, according to Nielsen, 2.576 million people tuned into the episode on HBO itself, a 4% increase when compared to last week’s 2.474 million cable viewers. Previously, House of the Dragon also had the largest series premiere in HBO history passing the original Game of Thrones series, which scored a 2.22 million viewership for its pilot episode back in 2011.

Taking a leap of another decade, Episode 6, The Princess and the Queen, will see Alcock and Carey be replaced by Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke as Princess Rhaenyra and Lady Alicent respectively.

New episodes of House of the Dragon air on Monday mornings on Disney+ Hotstar.

Popular Indian comedian Raju Srivastava breathed his last on September 21. The comedian passed away on Wednesday at age 58. He was admitted to AIIMS over a month ago after he collapsed while working out at the gym. Among many others, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to his official social media handle and paid condolences.

Along with a photo, featuring the last comedian, PM wrote, “Raju Srivastava brightened our lives with laughter, humour and positivity. He leaves us too soon but he will continue to live in the hearts of countless people thanks to his rich work over the years. His demise is saddening. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

Srivastava’s cousin Ashok Srivastava had spoken to PTI recently and confirmed that the comedian had suffered a heart attack while working out. “He was doing his routine exercise and while he was on the treadmill, he suddenly fell down. He suffered a heart attack and was immediately taken to the AIIMS hospital,” Ashok had told PTI.

Raju Srivastava rose to fame with The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. While his stand-up comedy was widely appreciated, he had done smaller roles in several films including Maine Pyar Kiya, Baazigar, Bombay to Goa, and Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya. He had also participated in Bigg Boss 3. He was the Chairman of the Film Development Council in Uttar Pradesh.
