Kapil Sharma starrer Zwigato to be also screened at Busan International Film Festival 2022
Hollywood actors David Harbour and Orlando Bloom have signed on to star in Gran Turismo, the upcoming Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions adaptation of the hit racing video game series helmed by Neill Blomkamp (Elysium).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, with a script by Jason Hall (American Sniper) and Zach Baylin (King Richard) and based on a true story, the project is described as the ultimate wish-fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won him a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race-car driver.
The film also stars the budding actor Archie Madekwe. As per the report, Madekwe is playing the teen, with Harbour on board as the retired driver who teaches him to drive. Bloom will play a hungry marketing executive who is selling the sport of motor racing and may believe in its art, too. Shooting begins next week in Europe. “As one of PlayStation’s longest standing and most beloved franchises, it’s great to be partnering with Columbia Pictures again to bring Gran Turismo to life in an exciting way,” said PlayStation Productions producer Asad Qizilbash. “We can’t wait for audiences to see Neill’s vision of this inspiring true story of gamer turned professional race car driver.”
PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, as well as Doug Belgrad and Dana Brunetti, are attached to produce. Game creator Kazunori Yamauchi and Hall are both executive producing.
Gran Turismo is slated for a theatrical release on August 11th 2023.

The Fabelmans – a semi-autographical tale from Hollywood’s one of the most celebrated filmmakers, Steven Spielberg, bagged the Toronto International Film Festival’s people’s choice award.

According to Variety, TIFF’s people’s choice award is one of the most reliable predictors of eventual Oscar success. In past years, winners such as Green Book and Nomadland went on to capture the best picture prize at the Academy Awards. The Fabelmans, which stars Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen and Gabriel LaBelle as Sam Fabelman, Spielberg’s screen surrogate, was enthusiastically embraced at its world premiere, where the film earned a roaring standing ovation.
The Fabelmans, co-written with Tony Kushner, marks the first time the Oscar winner debuted a movie at the Toronto Film Festival. “As I said on stage the other night, ‘Above all, I’m glad I brought this film to Toronto!’ This is the most personal film I’ve ever made, and the warm reception from everyone in Toronto made my first visit to TIFF so intimate and personal for me and my entire Fabelman family,” Spielberg said in a statement.
“Thank you to Cameron Bailey and the incredible staff at TIFF; thank you to Universal Pictures; and a very special thank you to all the movie fans in Toronto who have made this past weekend one I’ll never forget.” At this year’s festival, the first runner-up for the audience award was Sarah Polley’s drama Women Talking, while the second-runner up was Rian Johnson’s whodunnit Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
Other high-profile films that premiered at TIFF include Viola Davis and director Gina Prince-Bythewood’s historical epic The Woman King, the Harry Styles-led romantic drama My Policeman and Billy Eichner’s romantic comedy Bros.
The Fabelmans will begin a limited theatrical run in New York and Los Angeles on November 11, 2022, before heading for a wide release on November 23.

Controversial director Woody Allen has revealed his plans to retire soon after finishing his 50th film, announcing that his next film will be his last. Tsshe Oscar-winning director and screenwriter told a Spanish newspaper in an interview published Saturday that he intends for his next film to be his last, and that he’ll then focus more on writing, as he would like to work on a novel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he said his 50th and final film, one which he previously has said will film in France later this year, will be similar in tone to his 2005 thriller Match Point. “My idea, in principle, is not to make more movies and focus on writing,”
Allen told the publication. Earlier this year, Allen had shared his plans to quit filmmaking in an Instagram Live conversation with Alec Baldwin saying that the “thrill is gone” for him with filmmaking.“I’ll probably make at least one more movie, but a lot of the thrill is gone because it doesn’t have the whole cinema effect,” Allen said during the chat. “When I started to do a film, it would go into movie houses all over the country and people would come by the hundreds to watch it in big groups on a big screen. Now you do a movie and you get a couple of weeks in a movie house — maybe six weeks, two weeks, or whatever — and then it goes right to streaming or right to Pay-Per-View.”
“So, it’s not as enjoyable to me as it was,” he added. “I don’t get the same fun of doing a movie and putting it in a movie house.” Allen’s career has been marred by the accusation, which he has long denied, that he sexually abused his daughter Dylan Farrow when she was 7. Following the allegations, as the report suggests, Amazon Studios canceled his $68 million four-film deal, and the director’s recent movies have had a tough time finding distribution.
The four-time Academy Award winner is currently working on his 50th and now final feature titled Wasp 22, an entirely French-language project that will be filmed in Paris next month with a cast of local actors. Comparing the film to 2005’s Match Point, Woody Allen described the upcoming outing as “exciting, dramatic, and also very sinister.”

Things could not get any worse for the movie business. Some brave hearts continue to believe that they can change the moviegoers’ tastes to the pre-Covid era. Raaj Shandilya who directed Ayushmann Khurrana in the hit Dream Girl about a jobless man who signs on to play a female phone-sex worker, is back with a sequel that promises to break the arid spell at the Indian box office. To add a dash of arrogance to ambition, the Dream Girl sequel is scheduled for release for Eid 2023, which is when Salman Khan usually releases his film.

The message to the audience this time, spelt out loud and clear in the teaser: “Iss baar Eid mein Pooja hogi.” Pooja of course is the name of Ayushmann’s alias as a phone-sex worker in Dream Girl. However if we read the above declaration a little closely, it is saying something quite ominous. Set in Mathura, the sequel will also star Ananya Pandey, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Vijay Raaz, Manjot Singh, Manoj Joshi, Rajpal Yadav Seema Pahwa and Abhishek Bannerjee
On the other hand, the Salman Khan starrer Tiger 3 produced by Yash Raj Films will see Katrina Kaif and Salman reprise their roles from the previous films. The third in the series, Tiger 3 has been one of the most talked about and keenly anticipated releases. Speaking about the imminent clash at the box office, an industry insider adds, “It will be interesting to see both films release on Eid 2023. Both are very different and cater to different segments of the audience. While Tiger 3 will dominate the single screens and mass dominated sectors, Dream Girl 2, which is more content driven will likely appeal to multiplex going audience. Either way, the clash will make for an entertaining box office view.”
