South Korean superstar Lee Jung Jae made history at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards 2022 after winning Best Actor in a Drama Series for his stupendous performance in the Korean breakout show, Squid Game. He became the first Asian actor to win in that category.

“Thank you to the Television Academy, thank you to Netflix and thank you to the director for making realistic problems we all face come to life so creatively on the screen with a great script. Thank you, Squid Game team. Thank you to everyone watching in Korea,” a smiling Lee Jung Jae said in English and Korean, via an interpreter.

In June 2022, Netflix confirmed that the South Korean breakout show of 2021, Squid Game, is coming back for a second season. In an official statement, Hwang Dong Hyuk, the director, writer and executive producer of Squid Game, confirmed the return of Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun. He also hinted at the return of Gong Yoo and that there will be another deadly doll. “It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever. As the writer, director and producer of Squid Game, a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show. And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. , Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol Su. Join us once more for a whole new round,” he said in a statement.

Lee Jung Jae’s character’s return was teased at the very end of the first season where he appears to have decided to put a stop to the brutal annual games. The Front Man, played by Lee Byung Hun, is the main antagonist and boss of the deadly games that pit 456 cash-strapped players against each other for an astounding cash prize of 45.6 billion won. The Squid Game creator also teased the possible return of Jung Ho Yeon, who plays the North Korean refugee contestant on the series, as her own evil twin sister.

Back in October 2021, Netflix confirmed Squid Game had become the biggest launch in the streaming giant’s history by drawing 111 million viewers in its first month on the platform. The Korean series surpassed the previous mark set by Bridgerton, through the first 28 days, which was seen by 82 million households after its debut. In November 2021, Netflix confirmed that Squid Game became the most-watched show or film ever, with 1.6 billion hours of viewership.

Meanwhile, Lee Jung Jae has an array of line-up. His directorial debut Hunt was released last month in South Korea to booming box office numbers. He has landed his first major American studio joining Disney+ Star Wars series The Acolyte. The South Korean actor will star alongside Amandla Stenberg and Jodie Turner-Smith. He is also set to reprise his role as a manic killer in Ray, a spin-off series from the 2020 Korean action-horror film Deliver Us From Evil.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar on Monday took to social media to pen a heartbreaking note for his late hairdresser Milan Jadhav. He was fondly called Milano. The actor said that he is finding it difficult that Milan has left them.

“You stood out of the crowd with your funky hairstyles and infectious smile. Always ensured not even one hair of mine was out of place. The life of the set, my hairdresser for more than 15 years, Milan Jadhav. Still can’t believe you’ve left us…I will miss you Milano. Om shanti,” read Akshay’s tweet on Monday.

The last couple of years was not quite happy for fans of the popular comedy TV show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma. While the audience is eagerly waiting for Disha Vakani’s Daya to make a return, Shailesh Lodha’s exit from the show left many shocked. Now, it’s been nearly three months since the audience has seen him on the screen except for his last segment in each episode. However, there is a good news for the audience and fans. Recently, Asit Modi has confirmed that the character Taarak Mehta is all set to return on the screen.

Yes! You read it right. In an interview with Aaj Tak, the maker of the show, Asit Modi, confirmed that actor Sachin Shroff has replaced Shailesh Lodha in the show. Giving the latest update, Modi asserted, “Sachin has also started shooting. With Shailesh, we had tried a lot to find a middle ground but he left the show. Now, because of this, viewers can’t be kept waiting. I had to bring someone on the show for them. I wish to God that even Sachin receives the same love from the audience”.

Concluding the same, the TMKOC producer added, “it is a journey of 15 years, it is obvious that ups and downs will keep on coming. After all, the audience is our priority. I don’t want to disappoint them. We have a team of good writers and direction, so hopefully people will accept Sachin in the role of Taarak Mehta.”

For the unversed, actor-writer Shailesh Lodha quit the long-running slice-of-life sitcom in June 2022. However, neither the actor nor the producer has given any statement regarding Lodha’s exit from the show.

South Korean actors Park Hae Jin and Lee Moo Saeng’s agencies have shut down speculations that they were the actors who were recently arrested for drug use. Both their agencies firmly denied the rumours and even said that if these false rumours continue to spread, they will take strong legal actions.

Artist Company, on behalf of Park Hae Jin, released an official statement on September 11. As per translation by Korean media portal Soompi, it read, “We have confirmed that there have recently been groundless falsehoods spreading on online communities about Park Hae Jin having anything to do with the male actor in his forties who was arrested on charges of drug use. This is completely false, and Park Hae Jin has no relation whatsoever to the case in question. If groundless falsehoods related to this case continue to be spread, we plan to respond with strong legal action against those who have written and spread these falsehoods. We are informing you that our agency will continue to take strong legal action against malicious acts, such as defamation of character and the spread of malicious rumors, in order to protect the honor and rights of our actors.”

Before that, on Saturday September 10, Alien Company on behalf of Lee Moo Saeng, released a strong statement which read, “Regarding the male actor in his forties who was arrested on charges of drug abuse, our agency has confirmed that there are currently groundless falsehoods being spread through online communities and social media due to suspicions that the actor is Lee Moo Saeng. We are clearly announcing that actor Lee Moo Saeng has no relation whatsoever to the case in question, and if groundless falsehoods continue to be spread, we will respond with strong legal action. Our agency will continue to do our utmost to protect our actors in the future as well.”

On September 10, Korean media portals reported that the Seoul Gangnam Police Station had released a statement revealing that they had arrested an actor in his 40s, referred to as “A”, for a drug abuse violation. They had received a report that a man was running around seemingly high on drugs. The police made the said person undergo tests including urine drug test which came positive.

It was also reported that this was the actor who made his debut in a supporting role in a 2006 drama and has continued to work as a supporting and leading actor.

Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez requested the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police to postpone the questioning on Monday citing pre-scheduled shoots as a reason. The actress has been summoned for her alleged connection to conman Sukesh Chandrashekar who has been accused in the Rs. 200 crore money laundering case.

“Investigation is going on to ascertain all the links, (and whether) people involved in the main conspiracy and people who accepted gifts were aware of his background or not,” Special CP (Crime and EOW) Ravindra Singh Yadav said, as per Indian Express. He said that four-five people have been summoned including actors Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi in the case for questioning.

Previously, the actress was accused of having a connection with the infamous conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar and it was alleged that about Rs. 7.27 crores of funds were seized from the actress in the name of proceeds of crime. The actress has been previously questioned thrice in the same case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

According to a report in News 18 earlier, a fixed deposit worth Rs. 7.12 crore has been attached to Jacqueline Fernandez’ name. Infact, the ED estimated that Sukesh gifted gifts “worth Rs 5.71 crore to Jacqueline using the extortion money. It is also said that Sukesh gave funds close to $173,000 and around 27,000 Australian dollars to a few close members of Jacqueline’s family.”

In Sukesh Chandrasekhar’s statement recorded under Section 50 of the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act), Sukesh had said that he gave as many as 15 pairs of earrings, five Birkin bags, and other luxury goods from Chanel, Gucci to the actor. The con man also claimed that he gifted Jacqueline Fernandez Cartier bangles and rings and a bracelet by Tiffany & Co. in addition to Rolex watches. He also gave Jacqueline Fernandez jewellery worth Rs 7 crore and gifted her a horse called ‘Espuelah’.

In addition, Sukesh Chandrashekhar also extended a loan of USD 150,000 to Jacqueline Fernandez’s sister, who lives in the US. He also gave her a BMW X5 car and gifted Jacqueline Fernandez’s parents a Maserati and her mother in Bahrain a Porsche. He also extended a loan of USD 50,000 to her brother in Australia.

In its charge sheet, the Delhi Police has accused Sukesh Chandrasekhar and 13 others of duping the wife of the former promoter of Ranbaxy to the tune of Rs 200 crore. Officials believe Chandrasekhar extorted Rs. 200 crore from the complainant by claiming that he would facilitate her husband’s release from prison.
