Karan Johar’s Dharmatic to make a web series on Nepotism vs Outsiders titled Show Time; Emraan Hashmi to play lead

Disney+ Hotstar made some big announcements at Disney’s D23 in Anaheim. One of their upcoming fiction series is Showtime, produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra (A Dharmatic Entertainment Production).

Producer, director, and host Karan Johar said, “I am excited to associate with Disney+ Hotstar for our new collaboration, announced at the prestigious D23 Expo. I am happy to announce an all-new Dharma Production series, Showtime, which will lift the curtain on India’s entertainment industry’s biggest trade secrets.”

Gaurav Banerjee, Head of Content, Disney+ Hotstar told Bollywood Hungama, “We are doing a show with Karan Johar called Showtime, the one who has taken so much heat on the topic of nepotism is coming around and is going to tell the story of how all this fits in Bollywood. It’s a story about a studio and which direction it will take. Will it go in favour of bloodline or will it go with merit!”

Synopsis of Showtime: Bollywood is the land of dreams – dreams that are dreamt with eyes wide open. Showtime, a drama series, brings forward all the off-screen fights for the power that runs the show. A deep, raw, unconcealed & uninhibited look into the battle lines that are drawn and crossed to keep the camera rolling and the audience clapping. There is only one emperor that sits on the chair – but what’s a throne without a fight to get there? So, lights…camera…and action! Emraan Hashmi will play the lead in Show Time.

Disney’s D23 is the world’s biggest fan fest that’s taking place in Anaheim, the first one since post-covid.

Readers would be aware that the rumours about Hera Pheri 3 have been doing the rounds for years together. The franchise is expected to return to the big screen 16 years after the sequel Phir Hera Pheri released. Paresh Rawal too has hinted about a third installment being in the making way back in 2021 whereas Feroz Nadiadwala confirmed the same in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama in June this year.

“You’ll get to see it very soon with the same star cast – Akshay ji, Paresh bhai and Suniel ji. The story is in place, and we are working on certain modalities. It’ll be made in the same way, retaining the innocence of the characters. We can’t take past achievements for granted. So, we have to be extra careful in terms of our content, story, screenplay, characters, mannerism etc.,” he had said.

Speaking of the comedy franchise, Hera Pheri released in 2000 whereas its sequel Phir Hera Pheri released in 2006. We wonder if the actors just sealed the deal with this post but our guess is as good as yours! Looks like we will have to wait and watch.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry pay a solemn tribute to Queen Elizabeth II through their Archewell Foundation website

Former actress and Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and Prince Harry honoured Britain’s longest-serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II who died peacefully on September 8 at the age of 96, through their Archewell Foundation website.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, all of the site’s functions have been disabled and the landing page consists only of a black background with the words, “In loving memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 1926-2022” written in white letters. Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday afternoon at the royal family’s Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

The website also shared the statement the royal family had released announcing her passing. “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” it read. “The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.” King Charles III — who became king of the UK and Commonwealth upon his mother’s death — also issued a statement expressing the “greatest sadness.”

“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world,” the statement read in part. The news of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing came only a few hours after Buckingham Palace revealed that she was under medical supervision because her doctors were “concerned” for her health.

She will be succeeded by her firstborn son, Charles who said in a statement, “The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family. During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”
