Mrunal Thakur set to make her debut at Cannes Film Festival 2023

Mrunal Thakur, who also made her debut in South films last year, is all set for another debut. The actress will be attending the prestigious Cannes Film Festival that will be held in the French Riviera from May 17 to 26. Along with her, many other actresses will be a part of the festival including Anushka Sharma, Esha Gupta, Manushi Chhillaar, among others.

Coming to Mrunal Thakur, in a short span of time, she has become one of the most popular faces in the Indian entertainment industry. Talking about her Cannes debut, Mrunal shared, “I am thrilled to be attending the Cannes Film Festival for the first time. It is an honour to represent Grey Goose at such a prestigious platform. I am looking forward to interacting with global filmmakers, exploring new opportunities, and showcasing the talent that Indian cinema has to offer.”

Mrunal Thakur started her career in the television industry with the Star Plus show Mujhse Kuchh Kehti… Yeh Khamoshiyaan and went on to gain immense fame for her role in Zee TV’s prime time drama Kumkum Bhagya. She then debuted in Bollywood with Love Sonia and Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 and later, went on to do films like Toofan with Farhan Akhtar and Jersey alongside Shahid Kapoor. The actress also garnered massive appreciation for her role as Sita in Sita Ramam, a Pan India film starring Dulquer Salmaan and Rashmika Mandanna.

Talking about her future projects, Mrunal is currently filming for her next major South project alongside Nani, which has been tentatively titled Nani 30. Besides that, she has films like Pooja Meri Jaan, Pippa and Lust Stories 2 in the pipeline.

Classic sitcom Tu Tu Main Main to make a comeback on OTT, confirms Sachin Pilgaonkar; speaks about a “twist”

In a delightful surprise for fans of Indian television, the iconic sitcom ‘Tu Tu Main Main’ is all set to make a triumphant return, this time on an over-the-top (OTT) platform. The popular show, known for its rib-tickling humour and relatable family dynamics, will be available for streaming, allowing viewers to relive the hilarious banter and timeless charm of the beloved characters. Starring the talented Supriya Pilgaonkar as Devaki Verma and Reema Lagoo as Radha Verma, the show struck a chord with viewers, presenting an endearing blend of comedy, emotions, and everyday family conflicts.

Tu Tu Main Main, which originally aired from 1994 to 2000, captured the hearts of millions across the country with its humorous portrayal of the bittersweet relationship between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Recently, Sachin Pilgaonkar, who acted and directed the show, confirmed that a new season of Tu Tu Main Main is to return very soon during an interview with News18. He shared that the team is already planning to bring the show back.

Not only this, he also hinted at a major twist in the upcoming season. Speaking of the same, he said, “Supriya won’t be the daughter-in-law anymore but the mother-in-law.”  The actor believes that Tu Tu Main Main has remained alive in the memories of the audience to date.

“This generation must have been in school when the show used to be aired and have grown up watching it,” asserted the 65-year-old actor. Talking about the cast of the series, he said, “They were very new in that space. Reema had an image of a miss goody two-shoe mother and Supriya wasn’t very known among the Hindi audience.”

He went on to say, “But in a couple of months, they became like monsters. The episodes would be released on a weekly basis, it wasn’t a daily soap.” He further added, “I wouldn’t like to bring the show on television. I would prefer an OTT platform and we’re very open as far as the platform is concerned.”

Coming to the professional front, Sachin will soon be seen in the third season of Disney+ Hotstar’s political thriller City Of Dreams.

Sunidhi Chauhan to perform LIVE at a charity fundraiser for World No Tobacco Day

Cancer Patients Aid Association has decided to organize a special concert on World No Tobacco Day, which falls on May 31. As per recent update, the association is planning a charity fundraising event with popular singer and musician Sunidhi Chauhan and a press conference has been held to announce the upcoming Sunidhi LIVE.

The press conference will be attended by the popular Singer Sunidhi Chauhan herself along with the key members of the association. Ms Anita Peter, Executive Director, Cancer patients aid association, who will be present at the event, will be making the announcement of Sunidhi Live, amidst the presence of dignitary members as well as a few cancer patients. The fundraising concert aims at raising funds to support cancer patients on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day.

Talking about Sunidhi Chauhan, the singer has performed at some of the most prestigious venues across the world. Sunidhi started her career in the 90s and has sung for the biggest Bollywood blockbusters as well as worked with some of the most renowned music composers in Indian cinema. She gained massive fame for her voice in the movie Mast (1999) and went on to sing songs like ‘Mehboob Mere’ (Fiza), ‘Bumbro’ (Mission Kashmir), ‘Aa Tayar Hoja’ (Asoka), ‘Bhaage Re Mann’ (Chameli), ‘Aisa Jadoo’ (Khakee), ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ (Tees Maar Khan), ‘Beedi Jalaile’ (Omkara) among others along with winning two Filmfare and two IIFA awards among other achievements.

Sidharth Malhotra’s Yodha postponed again – this time due to Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan

Sidharth Malhotra’s Yodha release date has been the talk of the town over the last few months. The film was earlier supposed to hit the big screen in November 2022, and then got postponed to July 7 release. However, due to VFX issues, there was yet another delay as the makers announced September 15 as the new date.

And now, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt that Yodha will no longer release on its already announced date of September 15. “Shah Rukh Khan has announced Jawan for a September 7 release and arriving a week after a Shah Rukh Khan film in today’s market is like playing with fire. Jawan is expected to be a box office tornado and will eat into the business of every film releasing around. So Karan Johar and other stakeholders of Yodha have decided to delay the film’s release,” a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.

The new release date will be decided soon, as the makers are considering several date options in October, November, and even December 1. “Exact date for Yodha will be locked in the next 2 weeks leading to its official announcement. The makers will now zero down on a date that best suits the arrival of Yodha for our audience,” the trade source added.

Yodha is produced by Karan Johar and stars Sidharth Malhotra with Disha Patani and Raashi Khanna.

Shilpa Shetty invests Rs. 2.25 crore in Shark Tank fame start-up WickedGud

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra announced her investment in WickedGud, a rapidly expanding direct-to-consumer (D2C) start-up. Shetty Kundra who is a serial start-up investor known for her healthy lifestyle advocacy has invested Rs. 2.25 crore in the Mumbai-based company, 100Percent Nourishment Pvt Ltd, which markets healthy indulgent food products under the WickedGud brand. With this move, Shetty-Kundra and WickedGud’s Bhuman Dani, Monish Debnath, and Soumalya Biswas are going to be on a mission to “unjunk” India, one kitchen at a time.
