The makers of the upcoming ZEE5 movie Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai and its main lead Manoj Bajpayee have received a legal notice from the charitable trust of the rape convict Asaram for allegedly modelling the character of the villain in the movie on the convict. They have also sent the notice to the Information & Broadcasting Ministry and CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) while urging them to stall the release of the movie and remove of its trailer from the internet.

Mentioning that the content of the teaser and trailer is “derogatory” and “highly objectionable” towards Asaram, the notice added, “That, it is also worthwhile to submit that in the teaser and trailer of the movie aforesaid, very obscene and hatred language has been used, by filmmaker, which is not only derogatory, rather it impeaches the very character of my client by portraying him as ‘Ravan and serious rapist,’ which is an insult to his religious and spiritual character and so also belief and sentiments of the lacs of their followers and devotees. The movie seeks to portray him as a negative character, which would definitely cause irreparable damage to his character, reputation and standing in society and public at large in across the country and abroad.”

Advocate Satya Prakash Sharma has also alleged in the notice that the character, voice and name of the actor playing the villainous Godman also resembles that of Asaram.

The notice also mentions that Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai will cause immense “mental agony”, “humiliation” and “embarrassment” to Asaram and his devotees. The notice further states that the movie will “result in a loss of trust and respect among his followers and admirers, causing a significant impact on his social and financial standing. Furthermore, as per guidelines issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on the subject of certification of films, any content that may hurt the sentiments of a community or religious group must not be allowed to be shown in public.”

The notice adds that Asaram is currently facing imprisonment against conviction under alleged offenses under POCSO act and that the film can have an influence in the final verdict. “The movie’s release is likely to have serious repercussions on my client’s appeal pending (and) final hearing before the Hon’ble Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur.

The advocate adds in the notice that Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai will be released directly on OTT. “However, the Government of India has also framed Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021 to regularise OTT platforms. Therefore, in case the filmmakers of aforesaid movie proceed to release or telecast it on OTT platform, necessary restraint/ prohibitory orders may kindly be issued against the filmmakers for release/ telecast/ promotion of the movie in question on the OTT platform,” said the notice.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen in a fun and quirky role in the upcoming film Jogira Sara Ra Ra which also features Neha Sharma as the leading lady. The film is a romcom tracing the journey of Jogi Pratap Singh, essayed by Siddiqui. While the actor was all set to entertain his fans in theatres this week, it seems that the release date of the film has been pushed, from May 12 to May 26 and recently the change in date was announced on social media.

Readers would be aware that from Priyanka Chopra starrer Love Again (Hollywood) to Naga Chaitanya starrer Custody (South) to IB 71 (Hindi), many films are scheduled for release on May 12. The makers of the film have cited that they have decided to push the release date a few days ahead owing to too many theatrical releases this week and hence, the same has been postponed to the last week of the month, that is, on May 26.

Talking about the film, Nawazuddin had earlier said that it is a shift from the usual shaded characters he plays onscreen. “While my fans love to see me playing dark characters, I enjoy being in the light. And I am confident that this time even they will enjoy the laughs with this oddball couple who are determined to not lose their hearts to each other come what may. It’s an original and refreshing subject, like a hawa ka jhonka,” he had stated.

Neha Sharma, who was last seen in the theatrical release Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, also had expressed her excitement for the film, adding, “Shooting for this film was such a memorable experience. We were all sad when the film wrapped up because I was having so much fun. Now, I can’t wait for you all to see it and enjoy it. It’s good clean entertainment that you can enjoy with the whole family. Hop on board, you won’t be disappointed.”

Directed by Kushan Nandy, Jogira Sara Ra Ra also stars Mimoh Chakraborty, Zarina Wahab, Sanjay Mishra among others.

A television actress named Chandrika Saha has registered a complaint against her husband for hitting their 15-month-old son at their residence in Goregaon. The 41-year-old actress has filed the same at Bangur Nagar Police Station where the matter is currently under investigation. As of now, the police have called her husband, Aman Mishra for questioning on the matter.

Recalling the incident that is expected to have happened on Friday night, Chandrika Saha, in her statement, has reportedly stated that she was in the kitchen when she heard noises coming from the bedroom. When she reached, she saw her son crying on the floor. As per reports, the actress had left her kid with her husband while doing some work in the kitchen. A few minutes, later, she heard a loud thud coming from her bedroom and when she rushed to see, she saw her son lying on the floor injured. She also checked the CCTV camera in her bedroom, in which, she saw Mishra banging their son’s head on the floor. According to these reports, the actress is also said to have submitted the footage to the police as evidence in the case.

From what we hear, although there has been no decision in the matter, the police is expected to have booked Aman Mishra under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Amendment Bill, 2015 Act. The police have mentioned in reports that they have summoned Aman for questioning in the matter.

Chandrika Saha has been a part of television shows like Adaalat, C.I.D, Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, Savdhaan India, among others.

The trailer of one of the most awaited films of the year, Adipurush, was launched today at a grand event in Mumbai. The cast of the film – Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage – along with director Om Raut, producer Bhushan Kumar and writer Manoj Muntashir were also present. Sunny Singh, at this event, gave a very heartwarming and touching speech.

Sunny Singh began by saying, “There is a lot of excitement and nervousness. The journey has been very good. Thank you Om sir for giving me this opportunity. Every day on the set was surreal and we used to get goosebumps. We are quite emotionally connected with this film.”

Sunny Singh continued, “Also, its my first action film. I’ll dedicate it to my father who has worked for 35 years as an action director. Its also an emotional experience for me as I lost my mother 6-7 months back. She used to tell me, ‘Jab tu shoot ke liye jaayega, toh tu apna 200% dega’. That used to motivate me a lot”

Sunny Singh’s father Jai Singh Nijjar is a reputed action director on films like Golmaal 3 (2010), Singham (2011), Bol Bachchan (2012), Chennai Express (2013), Shivaay (2016) etc.

Sunny Singh, who has previously worked in films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018), Jai Mummy Di (2020) etc, plays the role of Lord Ram in Adipurush.

Adipurush releases in cinemas on June 16, 2023.
