The very talented and acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan passed away three years ago on April 29, 2020, leaving his fans and admirers saddened. Last week, many of them got a sweet surprise as his unreleased film The Song Of Scorpions arrived in cinemas. Although the film was dubbed as the last film of the actor to be released, it has now come to light that another unreleased movie of Irrfan Khan is also arriving in cinemas soon. Titled Apno Se Bewafai, it’s a delayed project but is all set to release on the big screen on May 26. Interestingly, the makers of Apno Se Bewafai also recently unveiled a smoking hot poster of the film, featuring Irrfan and Mahima Chaudhry, in Atul Mohan’s Complete Cinema magazine.

In an interaction with Mid-Day, producer Piyush Shah revealed that Apno Se Bewafai was completed way back in 2018 and had secured a censor certificate in 2019. In 2020, he announced that it’ll release on April 10, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the plans went awry. Then on Irrfan’s second death anniversary, Piyush Shah assured that Apno Se Bewafai will hit cinemas in 2022. And now, finally, the plan has been locked for a May 26 release.

According to the Mid-Day story, Apno Se Bewafai is about Irrfan Khan’s character, a married man, who gets attracted to a rich lady, played by Mahima Chaudhry. Piyush Shah said, “After he goes astray, he regrets his actions, but one cannot undo the past. The film is about the impact of his actions on his life and family. Irrfan was such a wonderful man, so grounded and down-to-earth.”

As for Mahima Chaudhry, she is expected to be seen in three films in 2023, including Apno Se Bewafai. The other two films are The Signature, co-starring Anupam Kher and Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency.

Meanwhile, Apno Se Bewafai’s director Prakash Bhalekar uploaded another poster of the film a few months back on his Instagram handle.

Superstar Hrithik Roshan delivered a fabulous performance last year in Vikram Vedha (2022). The film, starring Saif Ali Khan, was critically acclaimed with Hrithik’s act particularly standing out. It was also a rare performance in a remake where the fans of the original version had no reason to complain. Interestingly, Vikram Vedha was released on September 30, 2022; seven months have passed and the film hasn’t premiered on any OTT platform yet. Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report in February that it’ll premiere on the Jio Cinema app. In the grand event organized by Jio Studios last month in Mumbai, Vikram Vedha’s visuals were shown in the sizzle video that confirmed that the action thriller is indeed premiering on the popular app. It’s been three weeks since the event and till now, there has been no confirmation about when Vikram Vedha will finally premiere on the streaming giant.

Bollywood Hungama has learnt that the wait is getting over very soon. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Vikram Vedha will premiere next week. The expected date of its premiere is Friday, May 12.”

The source further continued, “It’ll be a surprise drop on the Jio Cinema app. What this means is that the platform will start streaming Vikram Vedha without prior intimation. They believe that this will give a pleasant surprise to the moviegoers. They are aware of the heavy demand to watch Vikram Vedha on OTT and they don’t want to keep them waiting any longer. Looking at the way netizens on social media have been expressing their wish to watch this film, they are confident that it’ll get record views.”

Apart from Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan, Vikram Vedha also starred Radhika Apte and Rohit Saraf. It was directed by Pushkar-Gayatri, who also directed the 2017 original Tamil film of the same name, co-starring R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi.

Hrithik Roshan, meanwhile, is busy with the shoot of his much-awaited film Fighter, co-starring Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor. Directed by Siddharth Anand, it will release in cinemas on Republic Day 2024. His other forthcoming films are War 2, co-starring Jr NTR, and Krrish 4.

Yash Raj Films’ Pathaan, produced by Aditya Chopra & directed by Siddharth Anand, is a historic all-time blockbuster. It is the highest grossing film worldwide in the history of Hindi cinema with over Rs. 1050 crore gross at the global box office! The film, which stars the biggest global superstar of Indian cinema, Shah Rukh Khan, will now become the first Hindi film to release in Bangladesh post partition! It is set to release on May 12 in Bangladesh.

Veteran actor Dalip Tahhil is known to be the only actor to play India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru thrice in, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), Samvidhan (TV series, 2013) and the Marathi movie Bhaai: Vyati Kee Valli (2019). He is now all set to add another feather to his cap by playing another prominent politician, this time of another country. Tahhil will be playing the former Pakistani President Zulfiqar Bhutto in IB 71.

As per the makers, “Tahhil spent months researching Bhutto’s life, mannerisms, and speech patterns to ensure that his portrayal of the character was authentic and nuanced. Tahhil’s casting has also brought to the fore the cultural and historical ties that bind the Sindhi communities on either side of the India-Pakistan border. Tahhil had with himself the opportunity to play such an important character and showcase the cultural similarities between the two countries.”

Directed by Sankalp Reddy, IB 71 is an espionage action-drama centring around the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. The film stars Vidyut Jammwal, Anupam Kher and Vishal Jethwa. This is also the first film for Vidyut as a producer.

Sharing his experience of playing Bhutto, Tahhil said in a statement, “Playing the role of Zulfiqar Bhutto was a challenge that I couldn’t resist. I needed to bring a sense of authenticity and nuance to the character. I spent months researching Bhutto’s life, his mannerisms, and his speech patterns. I hope that my portrayal of the character does justice to his legacy and brings to the fore the cultural similarities that exist between our two countries.”

IB 71 is all set to release in theatres on May 12.
