Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani is bringing a historical drama that will delve into the stories of India’s freedom fighters Rash Behari Bose and Sachindra Nath Sanyal. The upcoming web series aims to showcase their significant roles in the independence movement. A source close to the project revealed to India Today, “Bhuvan Bam is portraying the Bengali revolutionary Rash Behari Bose and has already begun filming for the series. To get into character, he has even shaved off his moustache.”

The source further added, “Meanwhile, Rohit Saraf will be seen as Sachindra Nath Sanyal, a close associate of Bose. Interestingly, he has grown a moustache for the role. Pratibha Ranta plays Sanyal’s wife, whom he married as a child.”

The team is currently shooting in Madh Island, Mumbai, on a specially designed set that replicates Bengal in the early 1900s. While the streaming platform has yet to be confirmed, sources indicate that the show might premiere on SonyLIV. Advani has previously delivered successful projects for the platform, including Freedom at Midnight and Rocket Boys.

Tribeca Films has acquired Born Hungry, the powerful documentary feature produced by global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Purple Pebble Pictures and Barry Avrich’s Melbar Entertainment Group. Chronicling the life of celebrity chef Sash Simpson, the film traces his incredible journey from being abandoned as a child in India to becoming a celebrated culinary name in Canada.

Directed and produced by Barry Avrich, Born Hungry captures Simpson’s heart-wrenching story of surviving by eating from garbage bins on the streets of Chennai, India, before being adopted at the age of eight by Canadian philanthropists Sandra and Lloyd Simpson—founders of Families for Children orphanage. The documentary follows Simpson’s emotional return to India as he attempts to reconnect with his roots and locate his birth family, guided only by faint childhood memories.

The film had its world premiere at the 2024 Palm Springs International Film Festival and was also featured at Toronto’s Hot Docs Film Festival. According to the filmmakers, Born Hungry is “a raw, true and important story with a huge heart that deals with identity and cultural heritage.”

Producing the documentary alongside Chopra Jonas and Avrich are Mark Selby and Mary Rohlich. Jay Hennick, Selby, and Avrich also serve as executive producers. The distribution deal was brokered by Melbar Entertainment, with Avrich being represented by IAG. Sash Simpson, whose story forms the soul of the film, grew up with 31 siblings between Montreal and Toronto. At age 14, he discovered his passion for food, eventually becoming executive chef at the acclaimed North 44 restaurant. Today, he runs his own establishment—Sash Restaurant and Wine Bar—in Toronto’s Summerhill neighborhood.

“We are beyond thrilled to have Born Hungry find its home with Tribeca Films,” said director Avrich and producer Chopra Jonas in a joint statement. “Their dedication to bringing powerful independent stories to global audiences aligns perfectly with the heart and soul of this film. Born Hungry is more than just a story about food; it’s about resilience, transformation, and the extraordinary journey of a child who defied the odds.”

Avrich, a seasoned filmmaker with more than 65 documentaries to his credit, is known for acclaimed titles such as Made You Look, The Last Mogul, Prosecuting Evil, David Foster: Off the Record, and Oscar Peterson: Black + White. Purple Pebble Pictures, the production house founded by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, is recognized for championing underdog stories and promoting diverse voices that transcend cultural boundaries. Born Hungry is scheduled for theatrical release on April 8 and will simultaneously be available on Prime Video and iTunes.

One week after the release of Sikandar, Salman Khan shared the trailer of his classic comedy Andaz Apna Apna, which also stars Aamir Khan. The film is all set to be re-released on April 25. Originally released in 1994, the film is beloved for its humor, performances, and ensemble cast.

Salman unveiled a trailer packed with all the iconic scenes from Andaz Apna Apna, captioning it with a loud and proud, “Amar Prem Ka Andaaz is back. #AndazApnaApna Re-releasing In Cinemas on 25th April 2025 Nationwide.”

Earlier, the film’s official Instagram page shared a poster announcing its re-release. The caption read, “Andaz Apna Apna Re-releasing in cinemas on 25th April 2025! Experience the cult classic on the big screen! Restored & Remastered in 4K & Dolby 5.1 Trailer out soon!” Fans were thrilled by the news. One enthusiast exclaimed, “Wohhhhooooo!!! Recently, the children of late producer Vinay Sinha—Namrata, Priti, and Amod Sinha—announced the re-release date of Andaz Apna Apna. They also shared their excitement about Aamir Khan and Salman Khan’s interest in doing a sequel. Speaking to The Times of India, they said, “Recently, Aamir bhai mentioned that Salman sir and he are keen on doing the Andaz Apna Apna sequel. We are thrilled that they both are excited and in light of this, we will start talks with them right after the re-release of Andaz Apna Apna on April 25.”

They further shared, “Talks with Rajkumar Santoshi ji have been ongoing for years. It also includes (those) during our father producer Vinay Kumar Sinha’s lifetime. However, nothing concrete has been finalised with him till now. We will make an official announcement under as soon as discussions with the actors and director are complete and a strong script is locked.”

Andaz Apna Apna is a cult classic Hindi comedy starring Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, with Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor also in key roles. Known for its quirky humour and iconic one-liners, the film also gave audiences the unforgettable comic villain Crime Master Gogo, played by Shakti Kapoor.

The upcoming horror-comedy Kapkapiii, starring Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor, is set to release in theatres on 23rd May. Directed by the late Sangeeth Sivan—known for comedies like Kya Kool Hain Hum and Apna Sapna Money Money—the film blends scares with laughs in classic Sivan style.

Kapkapiii also stars Sonia Rathee, Siddhi Idnani, Jay Thakkar, Varun Pandey, Dherendra Tiwari, Dinkar Sharma, and Abishek Kumar. The film is produced by Jayesh Patel and Umesh Kumar Bansal under the banner of Bravo Entertainment and is presented by Zee Studios. The screenplay is penned by Saurabh Anand and Kumar Priyadarshi.

Producer Jayesh Patel stated, “Sangeeth ji had already given us the completed first cut of the film, so what you’ll see on screen is entirely his vision. And I feel he is always with us, supporting and guiding. After his untimely demise, it became more than just a film — it became a collective promise to finish what he started. Kapkapiii is not your typical horror-comedy — it’s wild, unfiltered, and rooted in characters that feel hilariously familiar. It plays with fear the way a prankster plays with a flashlight in the dark — never predictable, always a little wicked.”

Speaking about the film, actor Shreyas Talpade shared, “As the name suggests, Kapkapiii is about goosebumps — the kind you get just before the fear fully kicks in. It’s one of the best horror comedies by Sangeeth Sivan sir. I miss him dearly. He should’ve been here with us today to witness the release of the film he was so passionate about. He was like a father figure to me, with a terrific sense of filmmaking.”

Tusshar Kapoor also reflected on his experience, saying, “Kapkapiii has a very realistic setting, and the characters are extremely relatable. The horror element revolves around a Ouija board, something that hasn’t been explored much in Hindi cinema. Sangeeth ji gave his actors the freedom to improvise within the framework of the script, which added depth and authenticity to our performances. For me, it was a nostalgic reunion after almost 20 years since Kyaa Kool Hain Hum — a true homecoming.”

During the event, a video of veteran actress Jaya Bachchan in a tense exchange with an elderly fan, who was seen requesting a photo, has taken social media by storm.

In the video, Jaya Bachchan is seen talking to a group of women when an elderly woman taps her on the shoulder, surprising her. As Jaya turns around, a man, likely with the elderly woman, tries to take their photo on his phone. When the woman offers a handshake, Jaya pushes her hand away and scolds the man for taking pictures during such an occasion.

Khyati announces production debut with three diverse films, collaborates with Habib Faisal, a sequel to a hit musical thriller, and a genre-bender “Rom-Hor-Com”

Khyati Madaan, a seasoned film marketer with experience at Red Chillies Entertainment, Disney India, and Maddock Films, has stepped into film production. After a decade of working on campaigns for over 50 films, including Dear Zindagi, Raees, Badla, Kick, Tamasha, Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Jungle Book, and Bhediya—she has launched her own banner, Not Out Entertainment, aiming to back stories that connect with audiences.

Khyati Madaan, an alumna of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), entered the film industry without any prior connections. She first drew attention in 2011, while still a student, by developing a statistical box-office prediction model that accurately forecast the performance of 32 films with 95% accuracy. Producers without industry ties are still relatively uncommon in Bollywood, making her journey a notable one.

Discussing her vision as a producer, Khyati candidly shared, “Bollywood is at an interesting crossroads. Despite having more access to audience feedback and data than ever before, many films are still failing to connect at the box office. As a producer, my ambition is to revive or bring Bollywood’s overlooked genres that audiences genuinely want to enjoy on the big screen. It’s about making storytelling truly democratic again.”

Not Out Entertainment’s initial slate already signals Khyati’s commitment to delivering diverse content with mainstream appeal. First up is a sequel to a hit musical thriller franchise that recently wrapped shooting and is slated for theatrical release this summer. Further details will be officially announced soon.

Khyati has also signed writer-director Habib Faisal, known for Do Dooni Chaar and Ishaqzaade, for her upcoming project. Returning to mainstream cinema, Faisal will helm a slice-of-life drama set in Delhi, echoing the familiar tone of his earlier films. Featuring National Award-winning actors, the film’s title and cast will be announced soon.

Rounding out her debut slate is Abhootpurva (meaning “Unprecedented”), a film that combines elements of tragic romance and horror-comedy—what Khyati playfully calls a “Rom-Hor-Com.” Set in 1990s Agra, the story aims to capture a sense of old-school romantic charm while offering something a little different from the usual. The film is expected to go on floors later this year, with cast and crew details yet to be revealed.

In addition to these three initial films, Not Out Entertainment is currently in the casting stages for two more projects: a controversial biopic and another genre-bending mass-entertainer. They are set to venture into sports content next, starting with the development of an innovative cricket show that promises to offer a fresh perspective beyond the conventional.

The playback singer’s X account was hacked in February, causing her to lose access to it

Shreya Ghoshal, known for her work as playback singer in recent films like Pushpa 2 – The Rule, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Maharaj, and Laapataa Ladies, has recovered her X account following a hacking incident in February this year.

After spending two months locked out of her account, the singer revealed to her nearly 7 million followers on Sunday that she has finally regained access to her account. “I am back!! I will be talking and writing here often.. Yes, my X account has been in trouble as it got hacked in February. Now I have finally had the help from the @X team after a lot of struggles in establishing proper communication. All is well!! Now I am here,” she posted on X.

Shreya had stayed away from the platform since the hacking. In her return post, she advised her fans to beware of false ads misusing her name and AI-generated pictures. “These are click baits, which lead to spam / fraudulent links. Please keep reporting these ads. I have no power in putting them down. I have tried my best,” she wrote.

The singer further urged the X platform to act against these misleading advertisements and emphasised the need to address the core of the issue. “These are X ad regulations, which allow such ads to run. Hope they solve these matters soon.”

Last month, Ghoshal shared on Instagram that her X account was hacked on February 13 and she had been working to recover it since. “Hello fans and friends. My Twitter / X account is hacked since February 13th. I have tried every thing in my capacity to reach out to the X team. But there has been no response beyond a few auto generated responses. I am unable to even delete my account since I can’t log in any more. Please don’t click on any link or believe any message written from that account. They are all spams and fishing links. I will update personally through a video if the account is recovered and is safe,” she added.
