Sunny Deol confirms he will play Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana

Sunny Deol confirmed that he will be portraying Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, which features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram.

During a conversation with News18, Sunny Deol said, “I am working in Ramayan as Hanuman. Yes, that is true.” When asked about his faith, he responded, “Kaun bhagwan mein nahin maanta? Hum hain bhagwan ke wajah se hain.”

When asked if he found the role of Hanuman challenging when first offered the script, Sunny Deol replied enthusiastically, “For actors, we love challenging things because it’s fun. We have to nail the character and listen to our director. I immerse myself into my character so that people believe in it. I have not started shooting yet but it will be one of the most mega films.”

The much-anticipated epic Ramayana is officially in the works! Announced by Namit Malhotra last month, the ambitious project will be released in two parts—Part One is scheduled for 2026, with Part Two following in 2027. The first poster, showcasing a dramatic arrow against a fiery sky, has already built excitement for what looks to be a visually spectacular reimagining of the iconic story.

Casting about Ramayana is heating up! The film will see Sai Pallavi play Sita, while Yash has confirmed his role as the powerful Ravana. The ensemble also includes Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara. Last year, a leaked image of Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in costume from the set sparked a frenzy among fans online.

With its star-studded cast and grand scale, Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema history.

Deepika Padukone to NOT feature in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War

Even as you read this, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s love triangle Love & War is being shot for release next year. A new story doing the rounds suggests that Deepika Padukone has joined the cast of Love & War in a “very special” role.

“So special that none of us knows about it,” a source close to the project chuckled. “On a more serious note, where does this kind of misinformation come from? To set the record straight, there is no Deepika in Love & War. There never was. There never will be. If at all Deepika works again with Mr Bhansali again, it would be something that takes them beyond Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. At the moment, there are no plans for a collaboration between the two.”

Raid 2 trailer promises an electrifying showdown; Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh engage in a battle of wits and power

The battleground for justice just got bigger, bolder, and brainier. The official trailer of Raid 2 is out, and it’s already igniting buzz across the internet with its high-stakes face-off between two powerhouse performers — Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh.

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 takes the gripping saga of corruption and integrity to a whole new level. Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Amay Patnaik, the no-nonsense Income Revenue Service officer known for his unflinching pursuit of the corrupt. But this time, he’s met his intellectual equal — Riteish Deshmukh, in a never-seen-before avatar as Dadabhai, a suave and ruthless politician who knows how to play the system as well as he plays people.

The trailer offers a taste of the cat-and-mouse game that unfolds between these two sharp minds. It’s not just a physical or emotional battle — it’s a war of intellect, ambition, and iron will. Riteish’s dialogue, “Pandav kabse Chakravyuh rachne lage (Since when did Pandav create Chakravyuh)?” is met with Ajay’s thunderous response, “Maine kab kaha ki main Pandav hoon, main toh poora Mahabharat hoon” — setting the tone for what promises to be a show-stopping duel of ideologies. Apart from this, the trailer carries visual and thematic callbacks to the original Raid (2018), reinforcing its legacy while building a more expansive and intense world.

While the first film was grounded in realism and moral grit, Raid 2 seems to take a broader cinematic canvas — with sharper dialogues, more layered characters, and a stylish yet sincere tone. Also starring Rajat Kapoor, Supriya Pathak, Amit Sial along with Vaani Kapoor as the leading lady, the film marks the return of Saurabh Shukla as Tauji from the prequel.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, and Krishan Kumar, and presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with Panorama Studios, Raid 2 is all set for a theatrical release on May 1, 2025.

Ajay Devgn helped Arshad Warsi shoot a risky stunt scene for Dhamaal 4: Report

The Dhamaal franchise is gearing up for another comedy-filled installment, with Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Jaaved Jaaferi beginning work on Dhamaal 4. However, the filming hasn’t been all fun and games, as per a report in Mid-Day. While shooting at Malshej Ghat last week, the cast grew worried about a risky scene set on a cliff. Arshad Warsi was reportedly especially uneasy about performing the stunt, but eventually agreed after Ajay Devgn reassured him that he would personally supervise the shoot and ensure all safety precautions were in place.

The actor’s anxiety was justified, especially since director Indra Kumar had initially intended to use VFX for the scene. A crew member revealed to the publication, “It wasn’t supposed to be a live-action sequence because the location can be precarious. However, a few days before the shoot, Indra ji and Ajay decided to film it at the site. The scene was to have the four actors hanging from a cliff; it was the most dangerous for Arshad as he was to hang at the furthest end. Using body doubles was out of the question as it is a crucial comic scene, with them having to mouth dialogues.”

When the cast raised their concerns, Ajay Devgn—known for his action expertise—stepped in to take charge. With his experience as a director, he decided to shape the scene according to his own vision, collaborating closely with action director RP Yadav. A source shared, “These actors are in their 40s and 50s, and not as agile or familiar with stunts as they used to be. Some of them even have past injuries. Taking these factors into account, Ajay broke down the sequence and eliminated some movements that could have been risky. He then ran the choreography, step by step, past the actors to see if they felt comfortable with it. To allay their fears, he also explained how safety measures such as harnesses and a safety net would be employed at all times. Plus, an emergency medical unit would be available throughout. It was only when each actor, especially Arshad, felt confident that Ajay went ahead with the scene, and shot it over four days.”

Impressed by how Ajay Devgn handled the challenging sequence, Arshad Warsi shared a post on Instagram expressing his admiration. In the post, he revealed that he has developed a “newfound respect” for the superstar.

Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa starrer Phule gets postponed, to now release on this date

Ananth Mahadevan’s Phule, based on the life of Jyotirao Phule and his wife Savitri Phule, which was to release this Friday, has been pushed ahead to the end of the month to April 25. Confirming this change of plan, the producer Ritesh Kudecha said, “Yes, the film has been postponed to 25 April. We took the decision this morning.”

All eyes are now on the Sunny Deol starrer Jaat and Gippy Grewal’s Akaal: The Unconquered, both of which open on Thursday, April 10.

For Gippy Garewal’s Akaal, Karan Johar has tied up with Gippy to co-produce an action epic, which stresses valour and nationalism. While the film is bound to whip up a rage in Punjab, it has a certain zest and energy to it which will make it appealing to audiences outside Punjab. Gippy has not so far conquered the territory outside Punjab. With Akaal, he is expected to.

As for Sunny Deol’s Southern sojourn, Jaat is already pre-sold to his audience, which expects Deol to do a Gadar again, but with stylized action pieces. While Sunny excels in the role of a justice broker, he has solid unquestionably crowd pleasing support from Viineet Kumar Siingh and Randeep Hooda.

Viineet, of course, is riding an all-time high after Chhaava. The makers have added him on to Urvashi Rautela in an item song as a token of his Chhaava success. Hooda is in the mood to reverse sides, from the nobility of Veer Savarkar to the mobility of the snarling villain Varadaraja Ranatunga in Jaat.

But make no mistake: Jaat is as much a one-man show as Akaal. Sunny and Gippy…may the best Punjabi win.

Deepika Padukone to play mother or cameo in SRK-Suhana’s King? Sidharth Anand keeps her role a mystery

The buzz surrounding Sidharth Anand’s upcoming directorial King continues to intensify as fresh speculation arises about Deepika Padukone’s role in the much-anticipated action drama. With a stellar ensemble cast including Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana Khan, King—written by Sujoy Ghosh—has already sparked massive curiosity. Now, all eyes are on what character Deepika Padukone will portray in this cinematic spectacle.

While early reports suggested that Deepika might play Suhana’s on-screen mother, others hinted at a possible cameo. However, according to a Bollywood Hungama exclusive, one thing is certain—Deepika is part of the film. What remains unclear is the nature of her role, which is still under wraps.

A well-placed industry source revealed exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, “Yes, Deepika Padukone is definitely part of King. However, the details of her role are being kept extremely confidential at this point. There have been discussions about her playing Suhana’s mother, but there’s also talk of her having a more surprising and pivotal role that ties deeply into Shah Rukh Khan’s character arc. The makers want to keep the intrigue alive.”

Given Sidharth Anand and Deepika’s successful collaborations in the past—most notably Pathaan and Fighter—her presence in King is expected to be impactful, whether brief or central. The mother-daughter angle with Suhana Khan could lend emotional depth to the story, especially if the film explores themes of legacy, mentorship, or revenge. On the other hand, a stylish cameo could serve as a narrative twist or even set up a larger cinematic universe in Anand’s signature style.

Yet, knowing the creative minds behind the project, it’s also entirely possible that Deepika plays a role that defies expectations—perhaps an intelligence officer, an antagonist, or a mysterious figure from Shah Rukh Khan’s past. With Sujoy Ghosh’s knack for complex storytelling and Sidharth Anand’s flair for spectacle, nothing is off the table.

Whatever the case, Deepika’s involvement only raises the stakes for King, turning it into one of the most awaited releases on the Bollywood horizon.

Burqa City director BREAKS SILENCE on Laapataa Ladies similarities: “Many aspects of my short film were clearly present”

Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan, has recently found itself at the centre of a plagiarism controversy. Fabrice Bracq, the director of the 2019 Arabic short film Burqa City, has spoken out about the striking similarities between his work and the Indian movie, expressing both surprise and shock. India’s official entry to the Oscars 2025, Laapataa Ladies has been widely praised, but these allegations have sparked heated debates online. Here’s everything you need to know about the controversy.

Fabrice Bracq Highlights Key Similarities Between Burqa City and Laapataa Ladies
In an interview with IFP, Fabrice Bracq detailed the parallels he observed between Burqa City and Laapataa Ladies. The French filmmaker pointed out that both films share similar character archetypes and pivotal scenes. According to Bracq, the “kind, loving, naive husband” and the “violent, despicable husband” in Laapataa Ladies mirror characters in his short film. Additionally, he noted that scenes involving a corrupt police officer and his sidekicks, as well as a moment where a husband searches for his veiled wife using a photograph, closely resemble sequences in Burqa City.

“Of course, there is the moment with the photo of the veiled woman where the kind husband searches for his wife in various shops. He shows the shopkeepers a photo of his veiled wife, just like in the short film,” Bracq explained. He also highlighted a scene where a shopkeeper’s wife emerges in a burqa, calling it “almost like a nod to Burqa City.” These similarities have left Bracq questioning the originality of Kiran Rao’s film.
Fabrice Bracq’s Reaction: From Unawareness to Disappointment
Bracq admitted that he was unaware of Laapataa Ladies until the similarities were brought to his attention. “I was both surprised and shocked to see that, although the story had been adapted to Indian culture, many aspects of my short were clearly present,” he told IFP. He also stated that he has not yet seen Rabindranath Tagore’s Noukadubi, Rituparno Ghosh’s adaptation of the same name, or Ananth Mahadevan’s Ghunghat ke Pat Khol—works also speculated to have inspired Rao’s film.

Previously, writer Biplab Goswami, who co-wrote the film with Sneha Desai, dismissed the claims. Goswami asserted that the screenplay was an original work, registered with the Screenwriters Association as Two Brides in 2014—five years before Burqa City’s release. However, the Burqa City controversy has reignited scrutiny, with critics questioning whether the film’s premise was truly unique.
