After years of anticipation and speculation, the much-awaited Hera Pheri 3 has officially gone on floors with its original cast—Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal. The trio, known for their iconic roles as Raju, Shyam, and Baburao, have started filming for the third installment of the cult comedy franchise, directed by Priyadarshan.

First Scene of Hera Pheri 3 Filmed
According to a recent report by Hindustan Times, the first scene of Hera Pheri 3 was shot on April 3. A source close to the production confirmed, “Yes, it’s true. The first scene was indeed shot today with Akshay, Suniel, and Paresh, who will be bringing back the memories of their iconic roles.”

Fans had been eagerly awaiting this update ever since Akshay Kumar confirmed his involvement in the project at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2024. The buzz surrounding the film has only intensified, with social media erupting in excitement as the shooting commenced.
Priyadarshan on the Challenges of Making Hera Pheri 3
Director Priyadarshan, who helmed the original Hera Pheri (2000), is back to direct the third installment. Speaking about the challenges of continuing the franchise after 19 years, the 68-year-old filmmaker previously stated, “It is going to be very challenging to make the third part because there will be too many expectations. Characters have gotten older, and accordingly, people should believe… these are important things. I am taking it as a challenge. Let’s see how it works.”

Hera Pheri (2000) and its sequel Phir Hera Pheri (2006) became instant classics, earning a massive fan following over the years. The return of the original cast under Priyadarshan’s direction has only added to the excitement. While plot details remain under wraps, the film is expected to continue the hilarious misadventures of Raju, Shyam, and Baburao.

Gulshan Devaiah’s Hunterrr (2015) was re-released recently in cinemas. While speaking about it exclusively with Bollywood Hungama, we asked him about his quirky thrilling show Afsos (2020). There’s a trend of a web series having multiple seasons but Afsos never had a Season 2.

When asked about it, Gulshan Devaiah revealed, “When the show was written, I was signed for 3 seasons. That’s a general rule of thumb that a lot of people follow. I don’t think it did well enough for Amazon. Also, it was not an Amazon original; if it was, it might have had a Season 2. It was not as heavily promoted as Amazon does for its originals. Tell me about it; I did Dahaad. They promote and how! Hence, I don’t think it got the kind of promotion that would have helped it.”

Gulshan continued, “Nevertheless, it has its own fan base. It ends at a very interesting point. You don’t know if he is Chiranjeevi.”

He also added, “These are things you have to accept. It’s part and parcel of an actor’s life. I am not blaming Amazon. I am sure that they have their policies and their budgetary allocations. They can’t break their protocols.”

A few weeks back, Anurag Kashyap blasted streaming executives for not giving creative freedom to show creators as they do in the West. Does Gulshan Devaiah agree with this notion?

He explained, “I don’t want to be the guy who complains. But at the same time, I always felt that we could do better, since the beginning. There will be restrictions. India is a different country. It’s a very complex nation. It’s so diverse. There are things which bind us together and there are things which also break us apart. The fact that we are still together is a miracle! Hence, it will always be challenging for storytellers to say what you can and what you cannot say. Freedom of speech can never be absolute; there are terms and conditions. Sometimes, you have to fight and swim against the flow. At times, you have to find creative ways to still tell your story.”

He further stated, “In principle, I do agree with him. I don’t agree with the accusations that he’s making as I don’t know (about it fully) as I am not a creator. I have never been in that kind of discussion about scripts. I only discuss contracts. But I do feel we can do better, especially in terms of storytelling. There are so many millions of rooted stories we can tell from India alone.”

Veteran actor and film director Manoj Kumar passed away at the age of 87 in Mumbai. As reported by news agency ANI on Friday morning, he died at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital at 4:03 am.

His mortal remains will be kept at his Juhu residence from Friday afternoon, allowing industry colleagues and fans to pay their final respects. The cremation is expected to take place on Saturday.

According to medical reports cited by ANI, he passed away due to cardiogenic shock caused by an acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a severe heart attack. The reports also revealed that Manoj had been struggling with decompensated liver cirrhosis in recent months, which further deteriorated his health.

He was hospitalized on February 21, 2025, after his condition worsened. Manoj was especially recognized for his patriotic films and was fondly referred to as ‘Bharat Kumar’.

Born as Harikishan Giri Goswami on July 24, 1937, in Abbottabad, British India (now in Pakistan), Manoj Kumar moved to Delhi with his family during the Partition. He graduated from Hindu College, University of Delhi, before venturing into the film industry.

Manoj Kumar made his acting debut in 1957 with the film Fashion. He gained prominence with movies like Hariyali Aur Rasta (1962) and Woh Kaun Thi? (1964). However, it was his portrayal of patriotic themes that etched his name in Indian cinema. His 1965 film Shaheed, based on the life of Bhagat Singh, was critically acclaimed. He continued this trend with Upkar (1967), which he also directed, earning him the nickname Bharat Kumar. Other notable films include Purab Aur Paschim (1970), Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (1974), and Kranti (1981).

Throughout his illustrious career, Manoj Kumar received numerous accolades. He was honored with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1992. In 2015, he was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award in cinema, for his contribution to the film industry.

His demise marks the end of an era in Bollywood, leaving behind a legacy of films that continue to inspire generations.

Kartik Aaryan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba are teaming up for the first time on a feature film produced by Karan Johar and Mahaveer Jain. The film is touted to be a one-of-a-kind high-concept comedy with a snake as the antagonist. On doing the research, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt that the Mrighdeep Singh Lamba directorial was initially offered to Akshay Kumar.

A source told Bollywood Hungama on confidentiality, “Akshay Kumar was the first choice for director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba’s next. He was in the discussion for a while now, however, he eventually backed out. He was not convinced with the conflict of snake vs human, and didn’t want to venture into this genre again after Jaani Dushman.”

Mahaveer Jain and Karan Johar had multiple rounds of meetings with Akshay, and when he finally backed off, they decided to reset the project with Kartik Aaryan in the lead. “Kartik loved the idea of man vs snake and instantly signed on for the film. He feels this is another winner under his kitty after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3, as the supernatural elements are the flavor of the season for the big screen,” the source shared.

The snake comedy is all set to go on floors in October 2025 and release in the second half of 2026.

The teaser of Raid 2 was unveiled on March 28 and it got a very positive response, enhancing the buzz for the thriller. Since then, there has been a tremendous demand for the trailer. Several reports speculated that Raid 2’s trailer will be launched on April 2, on the occasion of lead actor Ajay Devgn’s birthday. Bollywood Hungama has now learned when the much-awaited trailer will finally be out.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The trailer of Raid 2 will be out on Tuesday, April 8. A trailer launch will be held on a grand scale in Mumbai. Ajay Devgn and the entire star cast of the film will be present.”

The source further said, “The viewers will get a chance to see Raid 2’s trailer on the big screen from Thursday, April 10. This is because the promo will be attached with Sunny Deol’s upcoming release Jaat. The makers of Raid 2 requested Sunny Deol and the producers of Jaat and they were more than happy to attach Raid 2’s trailer with their prints.”

Raid 2 releases in cinemas on May 1. Apart from Ajay Devgn, it stars Riteish Deshmukh as the antagonist. The villain of the first part, Saurabh Shukla, also features in the film. Vaani Kapoor is paired opposite Ajay Devgn. Rajat Kapoor, Supriya Pathak and Amit Sial also are a part of the star cast.

Raid released in 2018 and featured Ajay Devgn as honest officer Amay Patnaik with Ileana DCruz playing his wife. The film told the story of an officer and his team and the challenges they faced when they raided a corrupt and powerful politician’s palatial residence. In Raid 2, Ajay Devgn once again essays the part of Amay Patnaik. Just like part 1, the second installment is also directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar’s T-Series and Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak’s Panorama Studios.

Shreyas Talpade, along with 14 others, has been implicated in a major fraud case in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district. The allegations involve duping villagers out of crores of rupees through a deceptive chit fund scheme.

The accused were allegedly associated with ‘The Loni Urban Multistate Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society Limited,’ a company that targeted rural investors with promises of high returns. Agents of the company reportedly assured villagers that their investments would double in a short period, leading hundreds to invest substantial amounts. However, after collecting crores from unsuspecting villagers, the company abruptly ceased operations and its representatives disappeared.

The fraudulent activities had been ongoing in Mahoba for nearly a decade before coming under legal scrutiny. Authorities have registered a case at the Srinagar police station, initiating an investigation to uncover the full extent of the scam. Further actions will be determined based on the findings of this probe.

This incident adds to Talpade’s legal troubles. In February, an FIR was filed against him and veteran actor Alok Nath in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly defrauding investors of over ₹9 crore. The case was lodged at Gomti Nagar Police Station in Lucknow. Additionally, both actors, along with others, were implicated in a multi-level marketing scam in Sonipat, Haryana.

The Loni Urban Multi-State Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society has been under scrutiny for similar fraudulent activities in other regions. In Uttarakhand, the society reportedly operated 35 unauthorized branches, defrauding investors of approximately ₹92 crore by promising high returns. The Uttarakhand Police have arrested five individuals in connection with this scheme.

As investigations continue, authorities are working to bring justice to the victims and unravel the complexities of these fraudulent operations.

Kartik Aaryan is on a roll. After ending 2024 with a bang with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, he began working on his much-awaited musical opposite Sreeleela. Later, he announced that his first film with Karan Johar would be titled Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. A few days ago, it came to light that Kartik Aaryan has signed another film with Karan Johar and that it’s a high-concept comedy. The report added that Mahaveer Jain is also one of its producers with Mrighdeep Singh Lamba of Fukrey fame serving as the director. Bollywood Hungama has now learned of an interesting development regarding the film.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The makers have decided to cast a debutant heroine opposite Kartik Aaryan in this film. They believe that a fresh film will work for the subject and script. All the important parties on the film agreed and work has begun on this front.”

The source further added, “Mrighdeep Singh Lamba is currently auditioning female actors in Mahaveer Jain’s office. The makers are hopeful of signing the actor that suits the part within a month.”

As per reports, the film will go on floors in October. It even stated that it’s a creature comedy with Kartik fighting a snake in this comic caper.

Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan’s only release in 2025, co-starring Sreeleela and directed by Anurag Basu, will arrive in cinemas on Diwali. Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, meanwhile, has been scheduled for a release on Valentine’s Day 2026. His film with Mrighdeep Singh Lamba is expected to be out in the second half of 2026.

If reports are to be believed, then Kartik Aaryan is expected to wrap up work on Anurag Basu’s film soon after which he’ll start shooting for Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. Once its shoot is finished, Kartik will begin working on Mrighdeep’s untitled film. In short, he’s going to have a packed and significant 2025.
