It has come to light that Shalini Passi and her husband Sanjay Passi have been called for questioning over a tax evasion issue.

As per reports, Shalini Passi has been summoned by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) in Meerut for questioning regarding alleged Goods and Services Tax (GST) evasion of over Rs. 20 crores. The inquiry is linked to a suspected short payment of GST by Pasco Motors LLP, a major Tata Motors dealer specializing in heavy motor vehicles.

Shalini Passi was a former partner of Pasco Motors and the summons were delivered to her on March 11. It stated that the inquiry is a judicial proceeding and non-compliance could lead to legal consequences. This follows a previous summons to Pasco Motors on November 28, 2024. The reports further added that Shalini is expected to provide a statement and relevant documents before tax authorities today, that is, on March 13.

J K Mittal, lawyer of Sanjay Passi, has denied any tax evasion. He told The Times of India, “GST summons issued by the DGGI is malafide and the information of tax evasion is not mentioned in the said summons at all.” He also revealed that the matter is presently sub judice and has been challenged in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He further noted that Shalini Passi exited the firm in 2021.

The case continues to unfold as authorities probe further into the alleged discrepancies in GST payments.

The upcoming film Jatadhara has become the centre of a legal dispute between Ess Kay Gee Entertainment (SKG) and Content Films Productions Pvt. Ltd., leading to a series of allegations and counter-allegations. The project is currently mired in a complex legal battle, with SKG and Content Films Productions presenting conflicting narratives regarding contractual obligations and IP rights.

Legal Notice from SKG’s Counsel:

Adding to the recent developments as multiple allegations were thrown against producer Prernaa Arora, the legal counsel for SKG, Vineet Dhanda, in response, has issued a notice addressing the circulating reports about Prernaa Arora and Jatadhara being embroiled in legal issues. The notice emphasizes that Arora was merely a witness to the agreement between SKG and Content Films Productions and not a direct party to it. It reiterates that Content Films Productions was obligated to invest Rs. 11 crores within 15 days to acquire 50% IP rights but only contributed Rs. 60 lakhs, thereby forfeiting any claim to the project’s IP rights due to this breach. The notice condemns the company’s assertions of owning 50% IP rights despite defaulting on payments as ‘laughable’ and a serious ‘breach of law’. It also criticizes the misuse of media platforms to defame Arora, who is neither a director nor owner of SKG. Consequently, SKG has initiated legal action against Content Films Productions and its owners, Rajiv Aggarwal and Arvind Aggarwal, including a defamation suit seeking damages of Rs. 50 crores in the Bombay High Court. The notice urges media outlets to verify the authenticity of the news before publication and to remove any defamatory articles to avoid legal ramifications.

Content Films Productions

On March 12, 2025, Content Films Productions Pvt. Ltd., associated with Rajtaru Studios Limited, issued a notice asserting that they hold a 50% stake in the intellectual property rights of Jatadhara. This claim is based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on December 23, 2024, with SKG, the production house led by producer Prernaa Arora and actor Shivin Narang. The notice further alleges that SKG breached the terms of this MoU and cautions industry stakeholders against engaging with SKG regarding Jatadhara without their consent, threatening legal consequences for unauthorized dealings.

Director Venkat Kalyan’s Rebuttal:

Venkat Kalyan, the writer and director of Jatadhara, has refuted these claims, labeling them as ‘false, baseless, and misleading’. He clarified that the MoU stipulated a 50% IP ownership for Content Films Productions contingent upon a Rs. 10 crores investment. However, the company allegedly contributed only Rs. 60 lakhs towards the project’s Rs. 20 crore budget. Kalyan also accused Content Films Productions of failing to meet their financial commitments, mismanaging accounts, and engaging in unprofessional behavior, leading to a professional fallout. He announced intentions to pursue legal action against Content Films Productions for breach of contract, harassment, and defamation.

As the situation unfolds, the industry awaits further developments and legal resolutions to clarify the rightful ownership and future of the film.

Back in September 2024, we reported that Danish Aslam had written the script and would produce the film alongside Imran and a mutual friend. At the time, a source revealed, “They took the project to a streaming platform, who prima facie based on the pitch level, gave it a thumbs up since there was no full screenplay. No agreement has been signed yet, that’s only done when the screenplay is approved.”

Now, everything has come together, and the necessary contracts have been finalized.

The re-release trend refuses to die down. It began last year when Rockstar (2011) got a re-release in cinemas and it had encouraging collections. Laila Majnu (2018) and Tumbbad (2018) stunned everyone as they collected much more than what they earned during their original runs. This year began on a heartening note as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) managed to put up huge numbers. In February, Sanam Teri Kasam (2016) created history as it emerged as the highest re-release grosser. The month of March will also see several re-releases. Now, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned that Jung (2000) will be back in cinemas.

Jung starred Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Aditya Pancholi, Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty. It was directed by Sanjay Gupta and produced by Satish Tandon. The film will re-release in cinemas on May 9. The date is possibly chosen to coincide with its 25th anniversary. The action entertainer was released in cinemas on May 12, 2000.

Jung is the story of an honest police officer whose son requires a bone marrow transplant in order to survive. The cop tries his best to find a donor but is unable to do so. Finally, he finds a donor in a criminal. But the criminal is not ready to do the needful as the same cop got him arrested and imprisoned in the first place. The film is fondly remembered for Sanjay Dutt’s performance as Balli and the catchy song ‘Aaila Re Ladki Mast Mast’. Interestingly, the film was written by Anurag Kashyap and Abhinav Kashyap.

Meanwhile, this Friday will see the re-release of memorable Aamir Khan films like 3 Idiots, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Dangal, Dhoom 3, Dil, Dil Chahta Hai, Fanaa, Ghajini, Ghulam, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Laal Singh Chaddha, Lagaan, PK, Raja Hindustani, Rang De Basanti, Sarfarosh, Taare Zameen Par, Talaash etc. The Aamir Khan film festival will be held to celebrate the superstar’s 60th birthday.
