Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has sold his apartment in Borivali East, Mumbai, for Rs. 4.35 crore, according to property registration documents reviewed by Square Yards on the website of Inspector General of Registration (IGR) https://ift.tt/7KzNayg. The transaction was registered in March 2025.

Borivali, on Mumbai’s northwestern edge, is known for attractions like Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Kanheri Caves, and amusement parks like Water Kingdom and Essel World. Borivali East is favoured for its greenery, proximity to parks, and connectivity to Kandivali East, Dahisar East, and Borivali West. The property is located in Sky City, developed by Oberoi Realty and spread across 25 acres. It is a ready-to-move-in residential project offering 3BHK, 3BHK+Studio, and Duplex apartments.

As per the IGR property registration documents reviewed by Square Yards, the apartment features a carpet area of 1,073 sq. ft. (99.71 sq. m) and includes two car parking spaces. The transaction incurred a stamp duty payment of Rs. 26.1 lakh and registration charges of Rs. 30,000.

According to Square Yards Data Intelligence, Oberoi Sky City has demonstrated strong market activity, recording 208 sale registrations with a total transaction value of Rs. 818 crore from March 2024 to February 2025. The average resale property price in the project stands at Rs. 44,577 per sq. ft.

Square Yards’ analysis of IGR property registration documents reveals that an apartment purchased by Kumar in November 2017 for Rs. 2.37 crore was recently sold for Rs. 4.35 crore, reflecting an 84% appreciation in value. In the same building, in January 2025, Akshay Kumar sold another unit for Rs. 4.25 crore, which was also purchased in 2017. Furthermore, Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan acquired multiple properties in Oberoi Sky City in May 2024, as per IGR property registration records.

Akshay Kumar, a prominent Bollywood actor, has had a successful career spanning over three decades. Known for his versatility and disciplined work ethic, he won the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2017 for Rustom and has received multiple Filmfare nominations for films like Airlift and Kesari. He was also honoured with the Padma Shri for his contributions to Indian cinema. Beyond acting, he supports various social causes.

Shahid Kapoor has shared an exciting update on his upcoming project. At the 25th edition of IIFA, he revealed that his film with Vishal Bhardwaj is currently in production and is expected to release by the end of 2025.

Shahid Kapoor praised IIFA 2025 for recognizing digital content, calling it a great initiative. Speaking to the media on the green carpet, he highlighted the rise of digital storytelling and its impact.

Shahid Kapoor spoke to the media at the IIFA green carpet, sharing his thoughts on IIFA recognizing digital content. He said, “It’s a very good thing that IIFA has started to recognise and honour digital content. Digital medium has so many good artists making good stories with a message. In the past few years, digital content has seen a meteoric rise. I also did a series called Farzi on OTT 2-3 years ago. I did the series because I love digital content, and I thought people would like to see me in a series which has good content.”

He added, “Hopefully, in sometime there shall be Farzi 2, I hope that should happen. On OTT that’s the agenda. Apart from that I’m shooting a film with Vishal Bhardwaj, and hopefully it will be out by the end of the year.”

Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming action-thriller with Vishal Bhardwaj marks their fourth collaboration after Kaminey, Haider, and Rangoon. The film also stars Triptii Dimri and is set for release by the end of 2025.

At IIFA 2025, Shahid spoke about his performance preparation, joking, “Bilkul bhi taiyyari nahi hai, bas stage mil jaaye toh main thodi rehearsal kar lunga.”

When asked about his time in Jaipur during the IIFA celebrations, Shahid Kapoor playfully responded, “I saw the Hyatt hotel, then the parking lot (laughs). So, I didn’t get the time to explore the city and go sight-seeing but I love Jaipur.”

Popular actress Rashmika Mandanna has found herself at the centre of a political controversy in Karnataka after her absence from the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFF) sparked backlash from Congress leaders. The situation escalated when Congress MLA Ravi Kumar Gariga criticized Mandanna for allegedly refusing to attend the festival, leading to the Kodava community showcasing their support the actress since she belongs to the community.

NU Nachappa, Chairperson of the Kodava National Council, has urged the Karnataka state government to provide security to Rashmika Mandanna, citing threats against her from political figures. He condemned the statements made by Congress leaders, asserting that they were targeting her unfairly. Nachappa emphasized that Mandanna, a proud Kodava from Coorg, has brought national recognition to the community and should not be subjected to political intimidation.

“I urge the Karnataka government, on behalf of the community, to provide security to Rashmika, as there might be protests targeting her when she visits home. He expressed the fear that no less a person that DK Shivakumar had expressed his ire against the celebrities from Karnataka, and there could be “attempts to teach her a lesson”. The majority Kannada language state of Karnataka is bullying us, a micro minority community of Codavas, a martial race, which had a separate state before merging with the state in 1956,” he was quoted saying in The Statesman.

The controversy erupted when MLA Ravi Kumar Gariga claimed that Rashmika Mandanna had dismissed the invitation to the film festival, allegedly stating that she resides in Hyderabad and has no connection with Karnataka. The statement has triggered outrage among the Codava community, who view it as an attempt to single out their prominent cultural figure.

Adding to the tensions, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar expressed dissatisfaction with several Kannada-origin actors skipping the festival. In a veiled warning, he remarked that the government “knew how to handle such people.” This has only intensified the Kodava community’s concerns, with many interpreting the remarks as a sign of undue pressure on Mandanna.

In response, the Kodava National Council has rallied in support of the actress, demanding that the government ensure her safety. They argue that the attacks on her are symbolic of the marginalization of the Kodava people and have vowed to stand by her against any political vendetta. As the controversy unfolds, the spotlight remains on Rashmika Mandanna, who has yet to make a public statement regarding the issue.

Superstar Hrithik Roshan has suffered a leg injury that has resulted in doctors advising him to rest his leg out for four weeks before he shoots the spectacular, high energy War 2 song with NTR Jr. The song is now locked to shoot in May with the film confirmed to release on August 14th, 2025!

A source reveals, “Hrithik really pushed himself during the rehearsals of this energetic song with NTR Jr. for War 2. He got a niggle in his leg during rehearsals that was quite uncomfortable and when the doctors inspected his injury, they advised him to not risk it further and rest out his leg before he shoots this massive song!”

The source adds, “The mega War 2 dance off song featuring Hrithik and NTR Jr. will now be shot in May! All the principal actors have finished their respective shoots and the film is already in post production. This minor bump isn’t derailing any promotion/marketing plans of the film. War 2 will release theatrically worldwide on August 14th, 2025!”

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is a part of Aditya Chopra’s blockbuster YRF Spy Universe franchise that has only delivered hits with each project.

The re-release mania has completely gripped Bollywood since the last few months. Things have reached such a stage that now one or more films have been re-releasing every Friday. It now seems that the re-release Mania has spread over Marathi cinema as well. Nagraj Popatrao Manjule’s 2016 blockbuster Sairat is now all set to re-release in cinemas in Maharashtra from March 21. The film marked the debut of Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar.

Sharing his thoughts on the development, Manjule said in a statement, “When we made this film, we had no idea that it would receive so much love from the audience. We had honestly carried out our task. Sairat found a place in the audience’s hearts not only in Maharashtra but all over India and now we have got a chance to re-release this film. What can be more joyous than this? For this, I thank Zee Studios from the bottom of my heart. Because of the re-release, we will get to experience the same excitement and the love from the audience.”

Rinku Rajguru said, “Sairat is an important part of my life. My character Archi received tremendous love from the audience. This film not only gave me an identity but also a part in the audience’s hearts. I am happy and proud that Sairat is re-releasing. I will always be thankful to Nagraj Manjule for trusting me and giving me a chance to work in this film.”

Akash Thosar added, “Sairat is my career’s first film and my most important project till date. My character Parshya gave me an identity in the audience’s hearts. The success we received for Sairat is still fresh in our minds. I am happy that the film is re-releasing. I am sure that the audience will once again accept the film in the same way.”

Music composer duo Ajay-Atul said, “Sairat was celebrated all over. The songs of the film still rule over the audience’s hearts. Because of the subject of the film, we received such positivity while composing the songs and because of that the songs are still superhit. The film is now re-releasing with the same positivity. We are sure that it will receive the same love and admiration like it received back then.”

Sairat became the biggest Marathi blockbuster when it released in 2016 and Rinku and Akash became overnight stars. The film’s music also became a chartbuster. The film has been officially remade in Hindi, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali and Odia languages.

Filmmaker Kedar Shinde and Jio Studios’ 2023 blockbuster Baipan Bhari Deva was supposed to re-release on March 7 but it couldn’t.
