The song titled ‘Rukna Nahi’, is a celebration of empowerment and unity through music. The vocals have been given by Aryans Sayeed, an Afghani musician who is making her Hindi debut with the song. Known off her extensive work in activism for women’s rights in Afghanistan, Aryana is currently settled in London. Hailing from Kabul, the singer has been an icon in the culture and music space of Afghanistan early on. The song’s lyrics and music have been contributed by Anurag Sharma.

My Melbourne, an anthology featuring four compelling stories directed by Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali, Onir, and Rima Das, explores human connection, resilience, and identity against the vibrant, multicultural backdrop of Melbourne, Australia. Inspired by true events, the film sheds light on themes of race, gender, sexuality, and disability, offering an authentic lens into the city’s diverse communities.

Ekta Kapoor is reportedly developing a sequel to Udta Punjab (2016), the crime drama that delved into Punjab’s drug crisis. While the project is still in its early stages, a report by PeepingMoon suggests that filmmaker Aakash Kaushik has been brought on board to write and direct. Although no official confirmation has been made, report indicates that Shahid Kapoor is being considered for the lead role.

New Director, Fresh Storyline

Unlike the original film, which was directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Udta Punjab 2 will be helmed by Aakash Kaushik, known for writing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Housefull 4. The sequel will reportedly not continue the same narrative but will again explore Punjab’s ongoing drug problem. Abhishek Chaubey will not be involved in the sequel as he is occupied with other projects.

The report also suggests that Ekta Kapoor is keen on bringing Shahid Kapoor back for Udta Punjab 2. However, discussions are still in the preliminary stage, and a final decision will be made once the script is locked. The film’s production is expected to begin next year.

Ekta Kapoor’s Growing List of Sequels

Ekta Kapoor has a history of producing sequels, with Ragini MMS 2, LSD 2, and Ek Villain Returns among her past projects. Apart from Udta Punjab 2, she is also reportedly working on Dream Girl 3 and a sequel to Veere Di Wedding. While The Dirty Picture 2 and A Flying Jatt 2 were previously planned, they have yet to materialize.

Zydus Lifesciences Chairman Pankaj Patel’s life to be turned into a biopic; veteran actor Anupam Kher to play his character.”

Pankaj Patel, a towering figure in India’s lifesciences sector, was conferred the Padma Bhushan in January 2025, one of the country’s highest civilian honors, recognizing his monumental contributions to healthcare innovation and nation-building. The biopic aims to chronicle his journey from humble beginnings to leading Zydus Lifesciences, a global pharmaceutical giant operating in over 80 countries, while highlighting his commitment to affordable healthcare and philanthropy.

The genesis of this cinematic venture reportedly took place during a conversation between Patel and Kher on March 2, 2025, at the Zydus Corporate House in Ahmedabad. According to Ahmedabad Mirror, Kher posed a “personal” question to Patel: “Lots of biopics are being made on well-known personalities, and now that you are a Padma Bhushan awardee, would you consider one on your life as well?”

With a lighthearted remark about managing his appearance—“Don’t worry about my hair, I can get a good wig made”—Kher expressed keen interest in portraying Patel. The industrialist responded affirmatively, saying, “If my life’s learnings can go to the masses and people can learn something from it, why not? I want to give to society but not own it.”

For the unversed, Patel’s story is one of resilience and vision. Born into a family with entrepreneurial roots—his father founded Zydus over seven decades ago—Patel transformed the company into a discovery-driven powerhouse employing over 27,000 people worldwide. One of the greatest films of Indian cinema, Hera Pheri (2000), starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, completes 25 years this month, on March 31. Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to its producer Firoz A. Nadiadwallah about how it was made, the challenges faced by the makers and a lot more. The present-day era is that of re-releases and we asked the veteran producer if he’d like to bring Hera Pheri back in cinemas on its 25th anniversary. After all, the film has an envious following and moreover, a generation of moviegoers was too young or not even born when the film was originally released.

Firoz A. Nadiadwallah said, “This is a decision I’ll not take alone. On paper, I am the owner of the film but morally, Akshay ji, Paresh ji and Suniel ji also own the film as much (smiles). So, we’ll jointly take the decision.”

He added, “I am sure whenever we re-release it, it’ll lead to a storm at the box office. The fascinating thing is that it’s been 19 years since Phir Hera Pheri (2006) was released and 25 years since Hera Pheri was released. Yet, we have not made any conscious effort or given any monetary effort to keep it alive. Yeh apne aap hua hai!”

In the world of memes, Hera Pheri and Phir Hera Pheri have achieved cult status. Firoz A. Nadiadwallah gave all the credit to writer Neeraj Vora, “It all happened due to the innocence aided by the witty and humours dialogues of Neeraj ji. What we all learned from him is that what you are saying is definitely important but how you’re saying is more important. Neeraj taught us and the film industry this valuable lesson.”

He further said, “Neeraj ji used to sit on the set wearing half shorts and T-shirt and used to observe the shots very closely. If the actors didn’t perform satisfactorily, he would tell the director, ‘Priyan sir, one minute’. Then he would sternly tell the actors, ‘Tum logon ne kya kiya?’. The actors would retort, ‘Jo dialogue tha, wohi toh bola’. He would reply, ‘Jaise maine bola, waise dialogue bol’. He had full reigns in his hand. Not a single take would be okayed without Neeraj ji’s consent.”

The controversy erupted after Karnataka Congress MLA Ravi Ganiga accused Rashmika of refusing to attend the Bengaluru International Film Festival and allegedly disregarding the Kannada language.

Kangana Ranaut’s Statement
Kangana, while addressing the ongoing controversy, expressed her support for Rashmika Mandanna. “Someone tries to strike, tighten the screws… God will save us. God is always standing with all the artists,” she stated. Her remarks came after Rashmika faced backlash from Karnataka politicians, with some even suggesting withdrawing subsidies from her films.
The Allegations Against Rashmika Mandanna
Rashmika Mandanna came under scrutiny after MLA Ravi Ganiga alleged that she had refused multiple invitations to attend the Bengaluru International Film Festival. According to him, Rashmika stated, “I have my house in Hyderabad, I don’t know where Karnataka is, and I don’t have time. I can’t come.”

The MLA further claimed that a legislator personally visited her home several times to invite her, but she declined and allegedly disregarded Kannada. “Shouldn’t we teach her a lesson?” he questioned, while also urging the government to reconsider subsidies for her films.
Clarification from Rashmika Mandanna’s Team
A source close to Rashmika Mandanna dismissed the allegations, calling them “completely false and lacking any element of truth.” The source clarified, “The statements attributed to Rashmika and the entire story about someone approaching her and her refusing to attend the Bengaluru film festival are incorrect. This statement is being issued to set the record straight and dispel any false narratives.”

Despite this clarification, MLA Ravi Ganiga maintained that he has evidence to support his claims. On March 4, he told the media that he would release documents proving that Rashmika was indeed invited but declined the offer.
Karnataka Dy CM DK Shivakumar’s Remarks
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar had earlier voiced his disappointment over the poor turnout of Kannada film industry members at the Bengaluru International Film Festival. He raised concerns about the absence of actors, directors, and producers at the event’s inauguration on March 1. As of now, Rashmika Mandanna has not personally addressed the allegations.

The incident reportedly took place on Monday night near Candolim Beach, where a large crowd allegedly bullied them for being from Maharashtra. The Goa Police later booked Farhan for allegedly brandishing a licensed firearm during the altercation.

Ayesha Takia’s Allegations
Ayesha Takia took to Instagram to share her version of events, claiming that her husband and son faced “a night of horror.” She stated that a mob of nearly 150 people surrounded and tormented them. “My husband and son were brutally bullied and scared for their life as local Goan goons mobbed, threatened, and tormented them for hours,” she wrote.

According to the actress, Farhan had called the police for help, but the officers later booked him instead. “The police, in turn, have filed a complaint against Farhan when he was the one who dialed 100 for help,” she alleged.
Claims of Targeted Harassment
Ayesha further stated that the harassment was specifically aimed at them for being from Maharashtra. “The hatred for Maharashtra has reached unbelievable heights in Goa… as they repeatedly cursed Farhan and my son for being from Maharashtra and having a big car,” she wrote.

The actress also mentioned that her family possesses video evidence and CCTV footage to support their claims. “We have video proof and evidence, including CCTV footage, which will be shared with competent authorities in due course of time,” she added.

Goa Police’s Response
Goa Police officials reported that they received a call around 11:15 PM on Monday regarding a fight near Candolim Beach. Upon arrival, they found Farhan Azmi allegedly brandishing his licensed firearm at the rival group. Both parties were taken to the police station but declined to file official complaints against each other.

As per protocol, the individuals involved were asked to undergo a medical examination, but Farhan and the others refused. The police confirmed that Farhan presented a valid arms license and permit to carry his gun in Goa.
Farhan Azmi Yet to Respond
Despite the allegations made by Ayesha Takia, Farhan Azmi has not issued an official statement regarding the incident. The police investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
