Arjun Kapoor calls love triangles a ‘not fun situation’ ahead of Mere Husband Ki Biwi release: “I don’t think that’s healthy”

Arjun Kapoor stars in Mudassar Aziz’s upcoming film, Mere Husband Ki Biwi. The movie revolves around his character’s chaotic love life as his ex-wife, played by Bhumi Pednekar, suffers retrograde amnesia, forgetting their divorce, while he prepares to marry his fiancée, played by Rakul Preet Singh.

Love circles are entertaining on screen, but not in real life
While love triangles may make for engaging cinematic content, Arjun Kapoor believes they are far from enjoyable in reality. In an interview with ETimes, he shared his thoughts on the matter. “Iss situation mein bechare ke saath jo hua hai and his past comes back because she’s lost her memory. That is not a fun situation in real life to have somebody stuck in,” Arjun remarked. He further stated that such entanglements are unhealthy and should be avoided.

‘Somebody always gets hurt’ in love triangles
The actor highlighted the emotional toll of being caught in a love triangle. “I don’t think anybody should be stuck in this situation or get themselves in this situation where you are trying to play two sides. I don’t think that’s healthy.” According to Arjun, someone in such a scenario inevitably ends up hurt, making it a distressing experience rather than an exciting one.

Single life vs. committed life: Arjun’s perspective
Discussing relationships further, Arjun differentiated between being single and being in a committed relationship. “See, if you’re single, it’s different, and when you’re with someone, it’s different. When you are single, in a colloquial way, you can ‘have fun.’ But when you are in a relationship, you cannot do this.”

Swara Bhasker criticizes public reaction to Chhaava compared to Maha Kumbh stampede: “Brain and soul-dead society”

Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker sparked a debate by criticizing the public’s reaction to Vicky Kaushal’s latest release, Chhaava, in comparison to the Maha Kumbh stampede that occurred on January 29 in Prayagraj. In a thought-provoking post on social media platform X, Swara highlighted the stark contrast between the outrage over the film’s depiction of historical events and the relative silence over the tragic loss of lives in the stampede. Her comments have ignited widespread discussion on societal priorities and collective empathy.

Swara Bhasker took to her social media handle early on Wednesday, pointing out how the audience seemed more affected by the portrayal of historical torture in Chhaava than by the real-life deaths at the Maha Kumbh. Without explicitly naming the movie or its lead actor, she wrote, “A society that is more enraged at the heavily embellished partly fictionalised filmy torture of Hindus from 500 years ago than they are at the horrendous death by stampede & mismanagement + then alleged JCB bulldozer handling of corpses – is a brain & soul-dead society. #IYKYK (sic).”
Her remarks seemingly referenced viral videos showing audiences emotionally reacting to scenes depicting the torture and death of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb as depicted in the film’s climax.

Public Reactions and Social Media Debate
Swara Bhasker’s comparison triggered a mixed response on social media. Some users agreed with her viewpoint, questioning why historical dramatization evoked stronger emotions than contemporary tragedies. Others criticized her for allegedly downplaying historical events. The debate intensified as users shared their perspectives on empathy, historical narratives, and current societal values.

Mrs. producer Harman Baweja reacts to SIFF claims about boycotting Sanya Malhotra as they say, “What stress does a woman feel, while chopping vegetables and cooking food on a gas stove or doing dishes wearing gloves?”

Sanya Malhotra starrer Mrs. which recently hit the tube has been receiving immense support from Indian women across the country with many resonating with the character of a housewife constantly fulfilling her duties and crushing her dreams, portrayed by the actress. Meanwhile, SIFF aka Save Indian Family Foundation has taken to social media to lash out on the film and called out the producers calling the woes faced by housewives as irrelevant and unnecessary promotion of feminism.

What did the SIFF say?

Taking to the social media platform X, aka Twitter, the SIFF posted several tweets insisting that there is nothing wrong with women getting overloaded with household work. “What stress does a woman feel, while chopping vegetables and cooking food on a gas stove or doing dishes wearing gloves? Zero, Nothing. In fact, cooking is like a meditation. Is it highly stressful to press cloths or do laundry in a washing machine?,” it read as it continued in another tweet, “Men should never share 50% house work, because 70-80% material, cloths, furniture and gadgets are craved by women and enjoyed by women. Even children are 2-3 times more useful for women than men in old age or at any stage. Why should men do 50% house work then? Men also do unpaid work like fixing things, driving, unpaid bodyguard and luggage coolie. Men should not do more than 20-25% of house work to maintain proper equality.” The tweets invited further wrath of netizens who strongly condemned the words shared by SIFF.

Producer Harman Baweja reacts to it

Meanwhile, the producer showcased his support towards feminism and told News18 Showsha, “I’m way past the infuriated stage now. It will take a lot to infuriate me. Maybe, that section of men is looking at this film as a solution and saying that this is the exactly representation of all men, which isn’t necessarily the truth. If a film has a male and female character, it doesn’t mean all men and women are like that. Every house is unique. The fragrance, the etiquette and the way food are served in every household will be different”. He added, “It’s important to not look at the film in isolation. We need to understand that Mrs is the story of a particular woman and a lot of women relate to parts of it. There may also be those – who I would think belongs to evolved households – who don’t relate to the film but understand it because they’ve seen it happening with their mothers. That’s the lens one needs to view the film with.”

He also addressed the subject of division of household chores and shared, “I’ve a different perspective on it. The essence of the film is to respect each other for what we bring to the table. I love and respect my wife and she loves and respects me for what I bring to the table. We’ve just had two kids and her hands are full.” “And she’s a health coach. If I’ve to come in at some point when she has got back to back calls, I’ll do that. The same goes for her,” he added.

About Mrs.

Starring Sanya Malhotra, Nishant Dahiya, Kanwaljeet Singh, among others, the film is an adaptation of the Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen and revolves a newlywed girl who soon gets stuck in the authoritarian, patriarchal mindset of her household.

Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal come together to present TAPS; champion love beyond boundaries

In the month of Valentine’s, love takes the spotlight in all its beautiful, boundless forms as actor and producer couple Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal proudly present TAPS an LGBTQ+ relationship drama, on YouTube. Directed by Arvind Caulagi and starring debutant Ullas Samrat and Rohit Mehra, the film lends an intimate look at how a couple navigates their way back to each other.

The short film first made waves at prestigious film festivals and is now set to reach an even wider audience. The film, which won the KASHISH QDrishti Film Grant, was lauded for its delicate yet powerful portrayal of LGBTQ+ relationships.

For Ali and Richa, who have been vocal advocates for inclusivity and storytelling that matters, bringing this short film to a global stage is a commitment to amplifying voices that deserve to be heard. Richa Chadha said, “Cinema is powerful because it can shift perspectives. ‘TAPS’ is one of those stories that gently yet powerfully peels back the layers of identity, love, and self-acceptance. We’ve had so many conversations about representation in media, and to be able to support a film that does it right is a privilege. We want people to open their hearts a little more. Watch TAPS with your partner, your friends, yourself—let it move you, let it stay with you.”

Ali Fazal added, “Love has always been painted in broad strokes—roses, candlelight, grand gestures. But love is so much more than that. TAPS captures something intimate, raw, and real. It reminds us that love isn’t just about who we love but how we love—with honesty, courage, and resilience. Richa and I felt strongly that a film like this deserved to be seen by as many people as possible. The fact that we can bring this story to the world—it feels just right.”

Producer Sudhanshu Saria opened up about the collaboration and shared, “It reminded me of when I was making my first film LOEV ten years ago. It felt like the perfect way to build on LOEV’s legacy in queer cinema by supporting another story that normalizes queer representation on our screens and talks about the everyday issues one faces in relationships, whether gay or not. I’ve known Ali since we were in school and I’m so proud of the love and authenticity with which Richa and him live their life. To have them join hands with us in presenting this film feels like a perfect celebration of what this film stands for.”

“Stories like TAPS are about representation and holding a mirror to society, asking if we are ready to accept love in all its forms. This film is intimate yet universal, tender yet powerful. When we first saw what Arvind had created, we knew it had to reach beyond just film festival audiences. We wanted it to touch people in their homes, in their hearts. That’s why having Ali and Richa champion it means so much—it ensures that ‘TAPS’ isn’t just a moment, but a movement,” added producer Neeraj Churi.

Kashish Foundation also issued a statement saying, “We live in a world where love is still policed, where identity is still debated, and where so many individuals are still searching for acceptance. This film subtly makes us think about why we still struggle to embrace love in all its diversity. Through this film, we hope to spark more dialogue, to encourage empathy, and to remind people that queer stories are not separate from human stories. They are woven into the same fabric of longing, joy, heartbreak, and triumph that defines all love stories. The more we normalize these narratives, the closer we get to a future where love is truly free.”

TAPS is a film by Sudhanshu Saria’s Four Line Entertainment in collaboration with the KASHISH Arts Foundation and Lotus Visual Production. Arvind Caulagi serves as both the writer and director of the film.
