The Bollywood superstar, who recently attended the Statue of Unity in Vadodara for the Republic Day celebrations on Sunday, decided to share updates about his highly-anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par. As the name suggests, the film aims to take forward the Taare Zameen Par franchise and although the details are maintained under wraps, Khan decided to spill some beans for the excited fans at the event.

Vadodara is special for Sitaare Zameen Par and this is the reason

On Sunday, while addressing the audience in Vadodara, he opened about the connection his next film shares with the city. “The sequel to Taare Zameen Par is Sitaare Zameen Par, and the climax of that movie was shot in Vadodara”, he said, leaving fans thrilled. Furthermore, he went on to share details of its release. “My next film as a lead actor is Sitaare Zameen Par. We are trying to release it by the end of this year, on the occasion of Christmas. It is an entertaining film, I like the story. The shooting of the film has begun,” he added.

Aamir Khan shares his fond memories of Gujarat

Apart from providing updates, Aamir Khan also opened up about why Gujarat has always remained special for him as it served as a major backdrop for many of his father’s films. “When I was young, many of my father’s films were shot in Gujarat. I was very small at that time, so I would come here. Today, all those memories have come rushing back,” he shared.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, known for his lavish palatial residence Mannat located in the heart of Bandra, is expected to get a massive amount from the government for the land his residence is built on. We hear that the actor is set to receive a refund of Rs 9 crore from the Maharashtra government following a calculation error related to a land payment. The actor, who owns a property in the Mumbai Suburban District, may soon have his petition for the refund approved after it was revealed that excess payment was made in 2019, reveal recent reports.

The property, spanning 2,446 square metres, was leased by Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, Gauri Khan, through a registered agreement back in 2001. As per state policy, the couple paid 25 percent of the ready reckoner price for the land in March 2019, which was calculated to be approximately Rs 27.50 crore at the time.

However, following a review of the payment, the authorities have identified a calculation error and are now in the process of refunding Rs 9 crore to the couple. The Maharashtra government is expected to approve the refund soon. This development comes as a relief to the Khan family, who had made the payment in line with the prescribed regulations but found the sum to be higher than necessary.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan has always asserted about how Mannat has remained to be one of his most cherished properties. In the 2005 documentary titled The Inner World of Shah Rukh Khan, the actor had opened up about the same and had said, “Buying this house has been one of the most difficult things I’ve done in my life. I didn’t have a home after my parents passed away; I have a house fetish. I’ve always wanted a home. I got this house when I had kids. This is my family’s house, and someday my great-grandchildren will live here like an old Parsi family”.

However, further investigations, reportedly have suggested some new twists and turns in the case, especially after the return of the actor to his residence. Followed by his statement about the intruder/attacker being spotted at Jeh’s room, reports have speculating that this may have been kidnapping case. Now, in the latest findings, these reports have raised further concern as it is being said that Mumbai police suspects involvement of more than one suspect.

Police have approached the Mumbai court with their suspicions

According to current reports, the police are in the midst of investigating their suspect Vijay Das aka Shariful Mohammad Amin Fakir, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national, they recently nabbed from Thane City. While they have proved his presence in the apartment of Saif Ali Khan by matching his fingerprints with the ones they received from the actor’s residence, they have shared details to the court stating that the suspect has been non-co-operative during their investigation. Furthermore, the police have also alerted the court regarding their suspicion about the involvement of multiple individuals behind the attack. Owing to the same, the court has reportedly granted them time till January 29, extending the custody of Shariful.

About the Saif Ali Khan case

On January 16, the popular Bollywood actor was attacked by an intruder at his residence in Bandra, between 2 to 2:30 AM with him sustaining multiple stab injuries. Following the attack, he was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital where he underwent emergency surgeries. Initial investigations stated that the actor was injured while defending his family during a robbery attack with more facts about the incident being uncovered over time. Meanwhile, Khan was discharged from the hospital on January 21 after which, he assured his fans about his recovery.

Speaking about her turning into Shri Yamai Mamta Nandgiri, Acharya Mahamandleshwar of Kinnar Akhada, Laxmi Narayan told ANI, “Kinnar Akhada is going to make Mamta Kulkarni (former Bollywood actress) a Mahamandleshwar. She is now named Shri Yamai Mamta Nandgiri. As I am talking here, all the rituals are underway. She has been in touch with Kinnar Akhada and me for the last one and a half years. She is allowed to perform the character of any devotional figure if she wants, as we do not prohibit anyone from performing their art.”

Actress reveals her disinterest in rejoining movies

Meanwhile, Mamta Kulkarni has opened to India Today about her future plans, wherein she asserted that she never wanted to return to her country to do movies. “I can’t even imagine doing films again. It is absolutely impossible for me now,” she confirmed to India Today. She also opened up about the ritual she underwent at Kumbh Mela, saying, “It’s only with the blessings of the Goddess Adishakti that I have been bestowed with this honour. I chose to be a part of the Kinnar Akhada because it represents freedom. There are no restrictions here.”

In recent times, historical dramas are prone to fall prey to criticism from community groups and now, Chhaava too has been facing similar challenges. The film’s trailer was unveiled amid much fanfare and now, the Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna starrer is being called out by a former Rajya Sabha MP who has demanded accuracy while bringing forth the story of Maratha warrior’s life. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant has shared a request for a screening of the film to ensure that the film doesn’t hold any objectional content.

Uday Samant says “Decision will be taken after watching Chhaava”

Speaking about coming across opinions of people who have expressed their discontent and dislike towards certain scenes shown in the trailer, Uday Samant took to X aka Twitter to pen a note asking the makers to hold a screening for them. Sharing his note in Marathi, he said (translated to English), “It is a matter of joy that a Hindi film based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the protector of religion and protector of freedom, is being made. Such efforts are necessary to make the world understand the history of Chhatrapati. However, many have expressed their opinions that there are some objectionable scenes in this film. Our position is that this film should not be released without first showing it to experts and knowledgeable people. Anything that will harm the honor of the Maharaj will not be tolerated.”

He went on to add, “Our position is that the producers and directors of the film should take immediate action in this regard and remove anything objectionable. The further decision will be taken after watching the film, otherwise this film will not be allowed to be released!”

Former Rajya Sabha MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati raises objection to a ‘lezim’ scene

Being one of the descendants of the Shivaji family, former Rajya Sabha MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati has shared his concern over a ‘lezim’ scene being portrayed in the trailer. Demanding accuracy and asking the makers to do thorough research before portraying the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji, Sambhajiraje said, “It is commendable the film highlights the life and valiant reign of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Director Laxman Utekar and his team showed me the movie’s trailer. I told them I would like to watch the entire movie before its release. I also offered to connect them with historians to address inaccuracies to ensure this significant story is presented authentically to audiences worldwide”.

However, he insisted that the makers have not taken any action despite his criticism. “However, the filmmakers have not engaged with historians as yet. While the lezim is an important part of our cultural heritage, it is necessary to discuss whether taking such cinematic liberties aligns with the dignity and historical portrayal of Sambhaji Maharaj. Historians and experts should deliberate on the appropriateness of this depiction,” he shared.

About Chhaava

Based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji, the film revolves around the journey of the Maratha Prince taking the fight for Swarajya, started by his father Shivaji Raje, ahead. He is joined by his wife Yesubai played by Rashmika Mandanna. The film will star Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, along with a host of other actors in supporting roles. TIPS Music Ltd, a leading Indian music label, announced its financial results for the quarter ending December 31, 2024, showcasing a strong performance. The company reported a revenue growth of 30% year-over-year (y-o-y), with revenue from operations standing at Rs. 232.2 crore for the nine months ending December 2024.

In the third quarter of FY25, TIPS Music achieved a revenue of Rs. 77.7 crore, up 20% y-o-y, with a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs. 44.2 crore, marking a 27% increase y-o-y. The company’s operating EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) stood at Rs. 55.6 crore, reflecting a 28% growth y-o-y.

“We are pleased to announce that the company has performed well,” said Mr. Kumar Taurani, Chairman and Managing Director, TIPS Music. “For Q3FY25, we achieved a revenue of Rs. 77.7 crore, up 20% year-on-year, with a PAT of Rs. 44.2 crore, marking a 27% increase YoY.”

The company’s content cost for the quarter stood at Rs. 14.6 crore, compared to Rs. 14.7 crore in Q3FY24. During the quarter, TIPS Music released 116 new songs, including 40 film songs and 76 non-film songs. The company’s YouTube subscriber base has now reached a remarkable 113 million, with YouTube views for 9MFY25 standing at 171.6 billion, up 17% y-o-y.

“In Q3 FY25, we launched 116 songs, including popular tracks like ‘Jutti Kasuri’ by Gippy Grewal, ‘Afghani Afeem Hai’ by Tony Kakkar, and ‘Tiyariyan’ from the movie Hoshiar Singh by Satinder Sartaaj,” said Mr. Girish Taurani, Executive Director, TIPS Music. “We have a very exciting lineup of releases planned for 2025.”

TIPS Music has also collaborated with TikTok, giving users worldwide access to its diverse library, featuring Bollywood classics and regional hits. The company has partnered with Sterling Reserve and Bacardi’s Legacy brand to launch its own music-IP called “Take 2” and “Roots,” respectively.

“We are seeing strong growth for our music across digital platforms,” said Mr. Hari Nair, Chief Executive Officer, TIPS Music. “Our collaboration with TikTok and partnerships with Sterling Reserve and Bacardi’s Legacy brand are testament to our commitment to innovation and expansion.”

The Board of Directors has announced an interim dividend of Rs. 3 per share, amounting to Rs. 38.35 crore. The total payout to shareholders, including dividend and buyback, stands at Rs. 136.09 crore in FY25 so far.

Farhan Akhtar began his career as a writer-director-producer and soon became an all-rounder as he became an actor as well as singer with Rock On (2008). As a result, there’s a lot of curiosity for 120 Bahadur, starring Farhan Akhtar in a leading role. Bollywood Hungama has stumbled upon an interesting update about this much-awaited war flick.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Farhan Akhtar has shot the major portions of the film in Ladakh and Mumbai. Now, the final schedule remains which will be filmed in Jaipur, Rajasthan. It’ll last for 10 days and will focus on the flashback scenes of Farhan’s character.”

As per reports, the shoot began with a taxing schedule in Ladakh. The cast and crew braved the weather conditions to shoot in the Himalayan region. Then, in December, the talkie portions in Mumbai.

120 Bahadur is set during the Indo-China War of 1962. As the title suggests, it is about the 120 brave Indian soldiers who defended their post against an army of 5,000 Chinese soldiers. As per the press release, the film is a tribute to Maj Shaitan Singh Bhati PVC and the soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment.

120 Bahadur is all set to release on November 21, 2025. It is produced by Excel Entertainment and Trigger Happy Studios and directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai.

In a recent interview, Farhan Akhtar revealed, “Not all films on the Army are made with their clearance. However, certain films require the Army’s blessings. Lakshya (2004; directed by Farhan Akhtar) was that, and now, 120 Bahadur. They ask questions when you reach out to them, and you should have answers. It’s their job to understand why you want to make that film. They should be comfortable.”

The much-anticipated film Deva has been keeping not just the audience but even its cast on edge, if the recent details are anything to go by! Sources close to the film have revealed that in a rare move, acclaimed director Rosshan Andrrews wanted a highly guarded climax scene. In fact, the filmmaker went on to ensure that the final scene of the film was kept a complete mystery, even to its actors Shahid Kapoor, Pooja Hegde, Kubbra Sait, and Pavail Gulati.

The reason behind keeping the climax scene a mystery from everyone

Revealing details of the same, an insider source asserted that none of the actors working on Deva received scripts which included the climax scene. “The scripts shared with Shahid, Pooja, Kubbra, Pavail, and others didn’t have that scene written at all. The director wanted to create the same sense of intrigue and anticipation among the cast that the audience will feel when the film releases,” the source added.

The source went on to continue that this unique decision was part of Rosshan Andrrews’ strategy to maintain the element of surprise during the shoot and to ensure genuine, unfiltered performances from the cast. It seems that by keeping everyone, including the main stars in suspense, the director wanted to preserve the authenticity of their reactions and heighten the thrill of the narrative.

Shahid Kapoor had a great 2024 with Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. It was his only release of last year and also the first hit of 2024. Shahid now will begin 2025 with Deva which is all set to release next week. The makers had completed the censor process in advance and in this article, we shall focus on the cuts received by the action entertainer.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the film with a U/A certificate. However, the film had to go through three modifications. The lip lock sequence was reduced by six seconds. The visual of the ‘foul gesture’ was ‘suitably modified. At multiple places in the film, foul words were used and they were replaced with milder words. The change was also done in the subtitles.

The Examining Committee of the CBFC also asked the makers to submit clarification in reference to Hutatma Chowk, located in the Fort area of Mumbai. Lastly, the makers submitted the script as per the dialogues of the film.

Once these changes were made, Deva was given a U/A certificate on December 30. The film is 156.59 minutes long. In other words, the run time of Deva is 2 hours 36 minutes and 59 seconds.

Interestingly, 6 out of 7 Shahid Kapoor’s theatrical films in the last 9 years have been more than 150 minutes long. Rangoon (2017) had a duration of 2 hours and 50 minutes. His 2018 releases Padmaavat (2018) and Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018) were 2 hours and 43 minutes long each. The blockbuster Kabir Singh (2019) had a run time of 2 hours 55 minutes. Jersey (2022) was 2 hours 51 minutes long. Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya was the only exception, having a duration of 2 hours and 23 minutes.

Besides Shahid Kapoor, Deva also stars Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, Pravessh Rana and Kubbra Sait. Produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Umesh K R Bansal, it is directed by Rosshan Andrrews. It releases in cinemas on January 31.
