Actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his Bandra residence last week late at night by Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national who broke into the house to allegedly commit robbery. Shehzad stabbed the actor six times before being locked in a bathroom by Khan and his household staff. However, the intruder escaped through the air-conditioning duct before fleeing the premises. Mumbai Police arrested the suspect in Thane after an extensive manhunt involving CCTV footage and local intelligence.

The Attack and Intruder’s Escape
The incident unfolded around 2 a.m. when Eliyama Philip, nanny to Saif Ali Khan’s sons, spotted the intruder. Assuming Kareena Kapoor Khan was attending to their younger son, she initially ignored the sounds but later realized something was amiss. Upon encountering the armed intruder, Philip sustained injuries while trying to protect herself and the children. The attacker demanded Rs. 1 crore and threatened the household.

Responding to the commotion, Saif Ali Khan confronted the attacker but was stabbed multiple times during the altercation. The actor and his staff managed to trap Shehzad in a bathroom, but the intruder escaped via the air-conditioning duct and fled. Police later recovered evidence, including a face cover, from the actor’s residence, which is now undergoing forensic examination.
Saif Ali Khan’s Recovery
Saif Ali Khan was hospitalized at Lilavati Hospital for five days following the attack. Doctors revealed that one stab wound on his back narrowly missed his spinal cord by 2 mm, leading to spinal fluid leakage that required surgery. He also underwent plastic surgery for facial and arm injuries. The actor returned home yesterday.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar recently shared an exciting update about the much-awaited comedy sequel Hera Pheri 3 during a conversation with Pinkvilla. Fans of the iconic franchise will be thrilled to hear that the actor is as eager as they are for the project to commence.

“Even I am waiting to start Hera Pheri 3,” Akshay revealed, adding, “I don’t know, but if everything goes well, it will start this year.” While the timeline remains tentative, the actor’s enthusiasm has reignited anticipation for the film.

Reflecting on the journey of the Hera Pheri franchise, Akshay admitted he didn’t foresee its massive success. “When we started Hera Pheri, we didn’t know it would go ahead to become such a cult. Even when I saw the film, I didn’t understand. Yes, it was funny, but none of us expected the characters of Babu Bhaiya, Raju, and Shyam to become a cult.”

Akshay also took a moment to praise his co-star Paresh Rawal, sharing a humorous anecdote. “We were just shooting for Bhooth Bangla in Jaipur, and I had lots of fun with him. During Hera Pheri, we had a lot of fun, but there are some things which can’t be said on camera,” he chuckled.

The Hera Pheri series began with the 2000 film directed by Priyadarshan, which introduced audiences to the hilarious antics of the trio—Babu Bhaiya (Paresh Rawal), Raju (Akshay Kumar), and Shyam (Suniel Shetty). The film’s unique humor and memorable dialogues quickly made it a fan favorite. Its 2006 sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, directed by Neeraj Vora, further cemented its legacy as one of Bollywood’s most beloved comedy franchises.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of Sky Force, set to hit theatres on January 24. The film also features Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan, and Nimrat Kaur in key roles.

2025 has begun on a happy note for the fans of Deepika Padukone. On January 3, her 2013 film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was re-released and it put up huge numbers. The demand was so huge that theatres had to add many more shows and more theatres also started playing the romcom. 2 days later, on January 5, the fans celebrated the birthday of the star. And now, they are all set to get another surprise. Bollywood Hungama has learned that Padmaavat will be back on the big screen.

A source told us, “Padmaavat is re-releasing, that too in two days from now, on January 24. Its shows will be available only in PVR Inox Cinemas. An announcement is expected to happen in a few hours and then the bookings will be thrown open.”

The source wasn’t aware of how big the release would be. A trade expert commented, “Padmaavat completes 7 years on January 25. Hence, it makes sense to re-release the film on its anniversary. Also, the trend of re-releases is very strong right now.”

Around its release, Padmaavat faced strong opposition from certain groups. As a result, it wasn’t released in Rajasthan. It now remains to be seen if the period drama manages to be screened in one of the 20+ screens of PVR Inox in the desert state.

Besides Deepika Padukone, Padmaavat also starred Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. It was the story of Queen Padmavati, the wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh of Chittor and what happened when Allaudin Khilji, the tyrant Sultan, laid siege on the impregnable fortress of Chittorgarh. Trouble arose when Khilji became obsessed and wanted to capture Chittor and its Queen at any cost.

Padmaavat was directed by the master director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and was one of the biggest hits of 2018. It ended up collecting Rs. 302 crores in India despite not getting a release in Rajasthan.

Sky Force actors Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya, portraying Air Force officers in the film, hosted a special screening for NCC cadets in Delhi yesterday. The event also featured the film’s producers, Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. A special mention was made to Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh and the Indian Air Force’s Disha Cell for their support.

The NCC, the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces, brought vibrant energy to the screening, with cadets visibly engrossed and reacting with awe to the film’s impactful and emotional moments.

Sky Force highlights the untold story of India’s first and deadliest airstrike, presenting a compelling narrative of bravery, strategy, and sacrifice.

Mythri Movie Makers backed Vidhi Acharya’s V2S Production’s rom-com Pintu Ki Pappi was earlier supposed to release on February 21. The makers have now decided to postpone the film to March 21. The makers have also released a new poster highlighting the new release date. The movie introduces three promising newcomers, Shushant, Jaanya Joshi, and Vidhii, who have grabbed the audience’s attention for their performance in the trailer.

The film’s trailer was launched with a lot of fanfare last month in the presence of superstar Akshay Kumar and Vidhi Acharya’s husband and veteran choreographer Ganesh Acharya.

Dr. Nitin Dange confirmed that Saif’s discharge papers were filed on Monday evening, and the discharge was scheduled for Tuesday morning, between 10 am and 12 pm. Page 3 (2005) completed 20 years on January 21. Directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, the film had an ensemble star cast and moreover, it made a strong comment about the star-studded parties and journalism ethics. On its 20th anniversary, Madhur Bhandarkar spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungama about the film and also his future plans.

It’s the trend of re-releases and when asked if Page 3 will re-release in its 20th year, Madhur Bhandarkar replied, “Yes, it is going to re-release this year itself.”

The celebrated filmmaker has made many path-breaking films like Chandni Bar (2001), Corporate (2007), etc. Can we expect a Madhur Bhandarkar retrospective or a film festival showing his iconic films? Madhur Bhandarkar hinted that the plan is there and added, “The rights of all these films are with Sahara.”

Madhur’s next

When asked what his next film would be, he replied, “I have announced a film called Wives Of Bollywood. It’s a strong subject and will give an inside view of the Bollywood wives, their emotional trials and tribulations and the scandals in their lives. It is going to be hard-hitting.”

Has he finalized the cast? Madhur Bhandarkar answered, “Not yet but I’ll cast good actors. I don’t have a big budget but I have great content. It’s like Page 3 on steroids!”

When asked if he fears that Wives Of Bollywood would be compared with the Netflix show Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives, he said it won’t happen. Madhur explained, “My film is very hard-hitting. A lot of people would get uncomfortable.”

Making people uncomfortable has been his forte. The socialites were rattled by Page 3 while the fashion and film industry were similarly up in arms due to his films Fashion (2008) and Heroine (2012). Madhur Bhandarkar smiled and remarked, “Absolutely. This subject has been my favourite for the last two years and I wanted to make a film on it. I have written eleven drafts already. It’ll be another eye-opener film for the audience.”

The film will feature Rashmika Mandanna as the wife of Chhatrapati Sambhaji, a powerful warrior and fighter herself, Maharani Yesubai. Introducing her character to the world, producers Maddock Films shared a couple of photos of her in a Maharashtrian saree with traditional jewellery and nath (nose ring) leaving fans excited. “Behind every great king, there stands a queen of unmatched strength. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Both Allu Arjun and Shah Rukh Khan endorse Thums Up. Its team decided to bring them together as such a star-studded campaign is sure to catch attention. After all, both are true blue pan-India superstars. Shah Rukh Khan is a Hindi film actor but has a strong base even down South, as evident by the impressive numbers put by Jawan in Southern states. As for Allu Arjun, he had cultivated a fan base with his dubbed films in Hindi. With Pushpa, this fan base grew considerably in the Hindi-speaking markets.”

However, the source is not sure if the ad has already been shot or will be filmed in the coming days. An industry insider commented, “The new soft drink campaigns are usually unveiled in the second half of February or the first half of March. This is the time when summers begin to kick in, resulting in high sales for colas.”

3 years ago, the first Thums Up ad featuring Shah Rukh Khan was launched on February 22, 2022. It featured him in the look of Pathaan. The ad went viral due to SRK’s looks and also because he was seen doing action. It also enhanced excitement for Pathaan though it was eleven months away from release at that time. As for Allu Arjun, he was unveiled as the brand ambassador in November 2024.

Sitaare Zameen Par is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language sports drama film directed by R. S. Prasanna, and produced by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. Speaking of the film, during a chat with Teh Hollywood Reporter, Aamir called it “a beautiful story” and explained, “The easiest way I can describe it is that, Taare Zameen Par is a very emotional film which makes you cry. Sitaare Zameen Par makes you laugh, it’s a humorous film. The theme is similar, of people with different abilities, different intelligence, or with different challenges. But it’s humour as opposed to emotions.”

He further added, “In many ways, I feel it’s way ahead of Taare Zameen Par. In Taare Zameen Par, the person who was with the challenge in the film, Ishaan, was helped by my character. In Sitaare Zameen Par, it’s the ten people with challenges, they help me, the supposedly normal person. So I feel it goes much further. I hope it turns out well.”

Aamir Khan is currently gearing up for the theatrical release of Sitaare Zameen Par, set to hit theaters on December 25, starring Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh.
