On the occasion of its 7th anniversary, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat is set to re-release in theatres offering fans another chance to experience the grandeur of this cinematic masterpiece on the big screen yet again next month as the film re-releases on February 6. Featuring a stellar cast of Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor, Padmaavat remains one of the most visually stunning and commercially successful films in Indian cinema.

While earlier reports suggested that the film is set to release on January 24, a day ahead of its original release date (January 25, 2018), latest news is that the film will hit the theatres on February 6. Although the reason for the shift is yet to be known, the makers decided to confirm the re-release date on social media by dropping an announcement that read, “The epic saga re-releases on a new date – 6th February, 2025! Relive the iconic tale on the big screen”.

As for the film, based on the poem ‘Padmavat’ by Malik Muhammad Jayasi, the movie tells the tale of the Rani’s legendary beauty and her unyielding courage. Upon its original release in 2018, Padmaavat became a cultural phenomenon, due to its grandeur, craftsmanship, and powerful storytelling. With Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, and Shahid Kapoor as Raja Ratan Singh, the film received much love from audiences and critics.

Yash Raj Films (YRF) has secured international distribution rights for the highly anticipated historical drama Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, will release worldwide on February 14, 2025, after being postponed from its initial December 2024 release. The announcement came through YRF’s official social media channels following the grand trailer launch at Mumbai’s Plaza cinema.

The recently released trailer showcases the film’s ambitious scale, offering a compelling glimpse into Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s journey after ascending to the throne following Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s demise. The production values reflect YRF’s commitment to delivering a cinematic experience that honors the historical narrative while appealing to modern audiences.

Speaking of preparing for the launch, Vicky, at the trailer launch event, said, “The last action film I did was Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019). Since then, I have been dying to do action. Mujhe yeh nahin pata tha ki yeh ghode pe bitha denge aur talwar aur bhale chalwayenge mujhe! Everything was new. I didn’t know how to ride a horse and had to learn that. I also learned how to fight with swords and spears. I trained for 6 months. I had to gain weight, from 80 kgs to 105 kgs. In short, I gained 25 kgs for this role. Before we went on floors, we extensively trained in action. Joji and Pervez sir supported me a lot.”

Coming back to the film, Academy Award-winning composer A.R. Rahman has crafted the musical score, enhancing the film’s emotional depth and historical grandeur. Besides Vicky, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, and Diana Penty.  It is slated to release on February 14.

Amitabh Bachchan expressed frustration with the micro-blogging site he frequently uses to share updates about his life, as it often rejects the pictures of his work that he wants to share with his fans, whom he affectionately refers to as his “extended family” or “EF.”

Amitabh Bachchan voiced his frustration on his blog and wrote, “You know this Tumblr is getting on my nerves..rejects pictures of my work that I wish to share.”

Amitabh revealed that the platform “unexpectedly blanks out my writing.” He further added, “Not that it has brilliant content, but just .. it deletes it . And I have been trying for long to put up some pictures and all it say’s after a while .. is OOPS.”

In other news, Amitabh Bachchan became emotional while celebrating 25 years of his quiz-based reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati. During the episode, a video featuring heartfelt messages from his fans played, congratulating him on the milestone.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has just revealed that he has decided to make the “biggest film ever” titled Syndicate. It’s about a ‘terrifying organisation’ which threatens the very existence of India.

Explaining the concept of the film, he said, “Street gangs which flourished till the 70’s were finished when they got absorbed into hardline political parties and later when the smugglers rose up due to heavy demand of electronic goods, gold etc, they too were destroyed by the economic reforms, and then the deadly corporate gangs like D Company, etc arrived, to be once again victoriously crushed. Similarly, the early black September terrorists paled in comparison to the deadly Al-Qaeda, which in turn looked like nothing in front of the horrific ISIS group.”

Varma added that there has been no notable criminal organisation since the last 10 to 15 years in India. “But right now, the intense polarisation in the country makes the timing ripe for a new kind of criminal organisation to rise. But unlike the organisations of the past, this new organisation joins forces from various groups including policing agencies, politicos, ultra-rich businessmen and also the military, thus making it a syndicate,” he said.

Sharing more details, RGV added, “This sets the stage for a chain of unimaginable but highly terrifying and intricately calculated events orchestrated by a shadowy organisation called the syndicate whose only goal is to replace India with a new India. Syndicate will be a very scary film not due to any supernatural elements, but because it will scarily expose, what horrors human beings can do. The film will deeply dwell into the cyclical nature of crime and terror proving that while we have our victories the dark truth is that crime and terror never die. They keep coming back in more deadlier forms.”

Varma informed that Syndicate is a futuristic story, but it’s not set in a far away future. “But what can happen even tomorrow or next week. For example, the entire world woke up to Al Qaeda on September 11, 2001, but did not know its existence even on September 10,” he said.

The filmmaker also said that Syndicate will begin with a statement – “Only man can be the most terrifying animal.”

Varma recently, in a long emotional statement, said that watching Satya again after more than 25 years has made him realize that he should go back to his earlier ways of making quality cinema. Touching upon that, he said, “I took a vow to wash away all my cinema sins that I committed over the past few years with this just one single film called Syndicate.

The filmmaker also said that the cast and the rest of the details would be announced soon.

Actor Saif Ali Khan and his family may lose properties worth an estimated Rs 15,000 crores due to a recent ruling by the Madhya Pradesh High Court, as per a report by The Economic Times. These properties, which include iconic landmarks such as Flag Staff House, Noor-Us-Sabah Palace, and Ahmedabad Palace, are at risk of being taken over by the government under the Enemy Property Act, 1968. The decision comes after the court lifted a stay imposed on the properties in 2015.

Why the Properties Are at Risk
The Enemy Property Act, enacted in 1968, permits the government to seize properties owned by individuals who migrated to Pakistan or China during Partition. In this case, the Nawab of Bhopal, Hamidullah Khan, had three daughters, one of whom migrated to Pakistan. Saif Ali Khan, the grandson of the daughter who stayed in India, has a claim to these properties. However, the government is citing the migratory status of the Nawab’s other daughter to justify taking control of the estates.
Saif Ali Khan’s Connection to the Properties
Saif Ali Khan has often spoken about his family’s rich history and their ancestral properties. Among these is the Pataudi Palace, which he successfully reclaimed after it had been leased to a hotel chain by his late father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. In a 2021 interview with Bollywood Hungama, Saif clarified misconceptions about the palace, saying, “Contrary to reports, I did not have to buy it back because I already owned it.” The actor shared how his father’s arrangement with the hotel chain ensured the property’s maintenance.

Saif Ali Khan’s residence in Mumbai was illuminated on Tuesday night to welcome the actor home following his discharge from Lilavati Hospital. The Bollywood star was recovering after being involved in a stabbing incident that left his fans and the film fraternity deeply concerned.

Saif was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery and received treatment for his injuries. Medical officials confirmed that the injury was not life-threatening, and the actor was kept under observation for a few days before being deemed fit to return home.

Saif was stabbed nearly six times by an intruder, who entered the actor’s flat in the wee hours. When they entered their youngest son, Jeh aka Jehangir’s room, one of the women staff members spotted the intruder and raised an alarm.

According to sources cited by India Today, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor plan to reward their domestic help, Eliyamma Philip, for her bravery during a recent intruder attack. Philip, who is also a key witness in the case, has recorded her statement with the police as part of the ongoing investigation.

Upon his return, Saif’s Bandra home was decorated with lights, signaling a warm welcome. The actor’s spokesperson released a statement thanking well-wishers for their prayers and support during the difficult time.
