According to an independent industry source, “Aaishvary Thackeray’s debut film with Anurag Kashyap has finally wrapped. The film had a 69-day shoot, which was entirely conducted in Lucknow. More details about the film are awaited.” Recently, Anurag Kashyap has also posted for the same.

Aaishvary Thackeray’s journey in cinema began in 2015 when he worked as an assistant director on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh’s much-anticipated concert in Pune faced a significant hiccup when the Maharashtra excise department revoked the permit for serving alcohol at the event. Held at Kakade Farms in Kothrud on Sunday, the decision followed objections raised by local political leaders and residents concerning the sale of liquor, noise pollution, and traffic congestion.

Alcohol Permit Revoked Amid Protests

The controversy began when Kothrud’s newly elected BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) MLA, Chandrakant Patil, and other community members expressed concerns over the event’s impact on public peace and order. Addressing these objections, state excise commissioner Charan Singh Rajput announced, “A team from the excise department submitted a report to the superintendent’s office in this regard. Taking note of the relevant report and Kakade’s letter, permission for the sale of liquor at the venue has been denied.”

Suryakant Kakade, the owner of Kakade Farms, also submitted a letter to the excise department, requesting the cancellation of the permit.

Local Leaders Voice Concerns

Calling the event a “social menace,” Chandrakant Patil criticized not only the plans to serve alcohol but also the broader implications of such large-scale events. He stated, “My opposition is not only aimed at the sale of liquor at the event but also at the traffic congestion and excessive noise that such an event would cause. Events like this lead to traffic jams and cause sound pollution, which disturbs peace and environmental harmony in society.”

Similarly, former Kasba MLA Ravindra Dhangekar highlighted the logistical challenges posed by the concert. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “No parking arrangements for nearly 40,000 persons attending the event at the venue which is adjoining the residential neighborhood have been made. This will cause untold suffering to the area residents. The administration and concerned officials responsible for giving permission and allowing the event to take place will be responsible for any untoward incident.”

Producer Tutu Sharma ventures into the exhibition sector as his multiplex chain, Citara, is all set to come up in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. The Citara properties would not just comprise an auditorium but would also consist of other entertainment venues, which will make Citara a one-stop entertainment destination.

Bollywood Hungama spoke exclusively with Tutu Sharma and asked about the unusual name. He made it clear that it should be pronounced as ‘Sitara’. He added, “Since it is cinema-centric, we have spelt it as Citara.”

He then explained his thoughts behind starting Citara, “We realized that cinemas are totally dependent on the content. If a big film doesn’t arrive, you suffer. That’s how we decided to have an alternate source of revenue while ensuring that all of them are connected to movies.”

Citara properties will consist of Reels Café, Glam Studios – The Star Struck Salon, CineHaat: Celebrity Retail Shops, Reels Point, Kids Corner etc. Tutu Sharma explained, “The Reels Café has a designated area where you can make reels, called Reels Point. We can put high-grade professional music to your videos and send it to you. It can also work as an audition reel for aspiring singers and actors. It can be forwarded to us; we have a panel of a couple of directors and producers on board.”

He continued, “The Reels Point also has a facility for doing a podcast. We believe that the new talent is coming from tier 2 and 3 cities. You never know the next big influencer can come from that area.”

Talking more about the café, he said, “Our café won’t just serve samosa, popcorn and cola. It’ll have a curated menu, designed by Chef Sanyal. He is trained in Germany. The menu would also be region-specific. So, the theatres in Gujarat would have more Gujarati snacks. The same applies to cinemas in Maharashtra and so on. The menu would also be filmy. The tagline of the Reels Café is – Swad se karenge sabka swagat! It’ll offer dishes like Gabbar Singh Burger, Johny Mera Naam Chai, Mughal-E-Azam coffee etc. And that’s not all. At the Karaoke Centre, you can have an evening of singing songs. During the IPL season, this area will show the matches.”

Tutu Sharma further said, “We even have a filmy salon where the décor would be film-related. It’ll provide services like Aishwarya Rai massage, Madhuri Dixit haircut etc. The highlight of CineHaat is that it’ll sell products of brands owned by actors, not the ones endorsed by them.”

As per the publicity material of Citara, the brands on board are Palmonas by Shraddha Kapoor, Soezi by Sonakshi Sinha, Rheson by Sonam K Ahuja and Rhea Kapoor, Padmasitaa by Padmini Kolhapure, Prowl by Tiger Shroff and The Man Company by Ayushmann Khurrana.

If you thought that’s all, you’re mistaken. Tutu Sharma exulted, “We also have a place for kids which will have film-related images of child stars who became adult actors like Padmini Kolhapure, Rishi Kapoor etc. Parents can safely keep their kids here and watch the film in the audi. We intend that every section should be a highlight by itself. People might come to eat at Reels Café and then they can decide to go for a movie.”

He also confirmed that one can enter the premises even without a movie ticket and added, “Through these measures, we are assured that we will make money even in the absence of a big-ticket film like Pushpa 2. There would also be designated shows for re-releases as well as regional films. For instance, we can show classics on Friday night.”

Cheaper moviegoing experience

Tutu Sharma also claimed that the ticket prices will be cheaper, “Our cinemas will be located in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and we are keeping the prices in check. It’ll probably be cheaper by 35-40% than the heavily priced chains. On National Cinema Day, the tickets were sold for Rs. 99 and every show ran with 100% occupancy. It vindicates the point that I have been saying for a long time that it’s the ticket cost that matters the most. Nowadays, thanks to expensive ticket rates, we need to plan to watch a movie. The basic habit of going to the cinema is curtailed. With Citara, we plan to bring back this habit. You won’t have to think that you need to pick and choose the film as the outing won’t cost you Rs. 3000.”

What about the food and beverages? Tutu replied, “That would also be priced reasonably. We are focusing on higher sales and not higher prices. We want to get more numbers and make profit on the turnover and not by killing your customer.”

Recently, Mukta A2 cinemas made the astonishing announcement that the price of snacks in their cinemas won’t exceed Rs. 99. Tutu Sharma assured that even in Citara, the same price strategy would be followed.

Often, new cinemas offer tickets at cheap prices and then inflate the rates. When asked if the ticket rates would remain low even a year later, Tutu Sharma smiled and stated, “We’ll talk again next year at the same time and the rates will be the same. In fact, we’ll try to further reduce the price!”

Inauguration plans

The big question of course is when do these Citara theatre start operations? He replied, “We have around 16 screens at various stages. In some cinemas, trial runs have started while in some places, we are awaiting licenses. But all of them are totally ready. Hopefully, by Pushpa 2, it’ll be up and running.” The much-awaited film releases worldwide on December 5.

These cinema halls are in Ambajogai in Maharashtra (3 screens), Jamkhambalia in Gujarat (2 screens), Nadaon in Bihar (2 screens) and 1 screen each in Jwalaji in Himachal Pradesh, Ghumarvin in Himachal Pradesh, Baramulla in Kashmir, Handwara in Kashmir, Pulwama in Kashmir, Shopian in Kashmir and Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.

Before signing off, Tutu Sharma explained why he doesn’t plan to start a property in Mumbai, “We don’t want to focus on Mumbai as real estate here is very expensive. Also, it’ll be hypocritical on my part if I charge tickets for Rs. 350 because of this factor.”

A week after Netflix announced Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, Stardom, the budding filmmaker commenced the final patch shoot for his highly anticipated series. The shoot is currently on at the Whistling Woods International, a renowned film institute in Goregaon, Mumbai. Sources reveal that the series, tentatively titled Stardom, is in its last phase of production and is scheduled for an early 2025 release.

Seven-Day Shoot at Whistling Woods

According to a report by Mid-Day, Aryan Khan started the seven-day schedule on Sunday. The patch shoot at the Whistling Woods primarily involves location shots and some additional scenes. A source mentioned, “On Sunday, Aryan kicked off the patch schedule, in which he will largely take some location shots and can some scenes. While Mona [Singh] and the leading man were not required on Sunday, they are expected to join the shoot later this week.”

Post this schedule, the production team is expected to shift to an office in Worli to film specific entry scenes before wrapping up.

Star-Studded Cast and Cameos

The series, headlined by Mona Singh and Lakshya, is being touted as a behind-the-scenes exploration of Bollywood’s glamour and challenges. Adding to its allure are special appearances by industry stalwarts such as Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, and Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan’s father and Bollywood superstar.

But our exclusive sources confirm that Kartik had his reasons for meeting Dinesh Vijan. “Kartik Aaryan had requested a meeting with Dinesh Vijan and on meeting, has asked him about the films on his slate. Dinoo opened up about all that he is making for the big screen, and Kartik in return inquired about the bigger projects in making, as he wishes to scale up post Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,” a trade source informed Bollywood Hungama.

The source adds, “Kartik in particular inquired about the possibilities of Cocktail 2 with him in the lead, as he is a big fan of the first film, especially the part of Deepika Padukone. The conversation ended on an open-ended note with the hope of teaming up on a project soon. Dinesh Vijan is also excited to partner with Kartik Aaryan, after the success he has achieved through his own efforts with the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise.”

The source also informed us about the fact that Dinesh Vijan and Kartik Aaryan discussed the possibilities of a Luka Chuppi sequel too. “Luka Chuppi is a big hit and they have also given a thought on Luka Chuppi 2. We will get a clear idea in the next month, but both Dinesh Vijan and Kartik Aaryan are very keen to partner and take forward a franchise, as Bhool Bhulaiyaa has proved how strong a combo – franchise + Kartik is in the modern world,” the source told us further.

Aditya Roy Kapur’s debut OTT series, The Night Manager, has earned India’s sole nomination at the 2024 International Emmy Awards, being selected in the Best Drama Series category. The actor traveled to New York on Saturday to join his team for the ceremony.

In a conversation with HT City Aditya said, “The whole crew flew down. I had some time off from shoot too, so I felt it’d be a nice way to cap off the whole experience. It was a close-knit team that worked on the show, and everyone made time for this (to attend the Emmys).”
The ceremony is set to take place on November 26. When asked if he’s concerned about the outcome, Kapur replied, “I am not thinking about all that. Maybe Sandeep (Modi, director) and everyone is, but I feel it’s great that we were nominated. If we win, it would be like cherry on top.”
When asked if he sees the nomination as a form of validation, especially since there are no concrete numbers to measure success on OTT, Kapur said, “As a team that worked so hard, it’s a validation. It’s heartening to see your work get recognised on such an international platform. But the biggest validation comes from the audience. To know they enjoyed it… everything stems from there.”
The 2024 International Emmy Awards will recognize international television content, and The Night Manager’s nomination marks a significant moment for Indian representation in the global television landscape. This nomination also marks a key point in Aditya Roy Kapur’s career as he moves from Bollywood to the global OTT space.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited epic, Love & War, is creating a lot of excitement, thanks to its impressive cast featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. During the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Ranbir expressed his enthusiasm about working with the renowned director once more, sharing that he was “extremely excited” to collaborate with him again, according to The Indian Express.

While speaking on stage, Ranbir shared, “I am extremely excited. He is my godfather. Everything I know about films, everything I know about acting, it is something I learnt from him.”
Ranbir is no stranger to collaborating with the renowned director. He previously worked as an assistant director on Bhansali’s Black (2005) and made his acting debut in Saawariya (2007). Reflecting on their continued partnership, Ranbir said, “He hasn’t changed at all. He is extremely hard-working. All he thinks about is his movies. He just wants to speak about the character, he wants you to create, do something different.”
The film was officially announced in January 2024, with the announcement posted on Instagram reading, “We Bring You Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Epic Saga Love & War. See You At The Movies Christmas 2025.” The post also featured the signatures of the lead cast—Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.
Love & War marks the second collaboration between Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt, following their successful partnership in Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), for which Alia won the National Award for Best Actress.
Ranbir Kapoor, on the other hand, was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, with a sequel already in development. The actor is currently filming Ramayana directed by Nitesh Tiwari, which also stars Sai Pallavi and Yash.

AR Rahman left many shocked when he announced his separation from his wife Saira after 29 years of marriage. While the couple shared this news in a joint statement, requesting media for privacy, a few hours later, another post of divorce shared by bassist Mohini Dey led to many unnecessary speculations. The co-incidence led to many accusing Dey as the reason behind divorce, prompting her to take to social media to share a note denying these claims and requesting users to refrain from spreading such false rumours. And now, AR Rahman too has decided to respond and has taken legal action against the media which was responsible for these rumours.

The ARR legal team has issued a notice, which was posted by AR Rahman on the social media platform X, aka Twitter, wherein they have asserted that this is directed towards interviews and other forms of content which was spread with an intention to harm the reputation of their client, asserting that a legal action of defamation will be taken against them for doing so. “My client informs the hatemongers and sharers of abusive contents to remove the objectionable content within the next one hour and a maximum time duration of 24 hours, he will be advised to file appropriate criminal defamation case under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and in such an event the offenders are liable to be punished with an imprisonment of two years, with or without fine as the court may determine under Section 356 (2) of the said Act.”, the statement read. A four page letter was shared on the platform along with the caption that read, “Notice to all slanderers from ARR’s Legal Team.”

Amid the legal battle, AR Rahman and Saira’s kids Khateeja, Raheema, and son Ameen have expressed their support towards their parents. After certain speculations started going viral on social media platforms, their son Ameen too decided to raise his voice and condemned these reports in a post he shared on his official handle.
