In a no-holds-barred open letter, celebrated actor Nayanthara has addressed long-standing issues with fellow actor-producer Dhanush K Raja. The letter sheds light on the hurdles she faced in obtaining the necessary permissions for her Netflix documentary, which chronicles her journey in cinema and her personal life.

Nayanthara Alleges Personal Grudge Behind Denial
Nayanthara accused Dhanush of deliberately refusing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to use elements from their hit film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her documentary. Despite two years of attempts to secure permission, including requests for songs, visuals, and photographs, Dhanush allegedly declined approval.

The actor expressed her disappointment in the letter, noting that the songs of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan were deeply personal and integral to the narrative of her documentary. She stated: “Your refusal to give us the opportunity to use the songs, or even just the lyrics, broke my heart.”
Legal Dispute Over Documentary Footage
Adding to the controversy, Nayanthara revealed that Dhanush issued a legal notice after the trailer’s release, questioning the usage of behind-the-scenes clips—amounting to mere seconds of footage. The legal notice, which demanded Rs 10 crores in damages, left Nayanthara and her team startled. She criticised this move, calling it an “all-time low” and questioned his character: “Does a Producer become an Emperor controlling the lives, freedom, and liberty of all the persons on set?”
Past Grievances and Public Criticism
The letter also revisited grievances dating back to the release of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan nearly a decade ago. Nayanthara alleged that Dhanush’s ego was bruised by the film’s success, and his displeasure was evident during award functions. She wrote: “Your ego was supremely hurt after the film became a blockbuster… The words you said pre-release have left some unhealable scars.”

She further accused Dhanush of fostering resentment toward her and her partner, affecting not only their documentary but also the collaborative efforts of their entire team.
A Call for Reflection
In the concluding parts of the letter, Nayanthara urged Dhanush to let go of past grievances and embrace a more positive outlook. She spoke about the importance of spreading love and appreciating others’ successes, adding: “The world is a big place, it’s meant for everyone. It’s okay for people you know to come up in life… I hope and pray that someday you are also fully capable of spreading love and not just saying it.”

Disha Patani and her family have come in news after her father Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jagdish Patani has filed a complaint against four individuals for fraud and duping him of a whopping Rs. 25 lakhs in the name of providing a high position in a government commission. The names of the accused that have come to light include Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Acharya Jayaprakash, Preeti Garg, among others. The police investigation is currently underway and an FIR has been lodged regarding the same at Kotwali police station in Bareilly.

Confirming the details, the in-charge of Kotwali police station DK Sharma was quoted saying to NDTV, “A case has been registered against Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Acharya Jayaprakash from Juna Akhara, Preeti Garg, and one unidentified person for cheating, criminal intimidation, and extortion. Efforts are underway to arrest the accused and take strict action”. Meanwhile, as per reports, Jagdish Patani had invested a certain trust in Shivendra Pratap Singh whom he knew personally. The latter then introduced Patani to Jayaprakash and Diwakar when the conversation about getting him a high position started.

Furthermore, the accused assured Patani of having high-profile political contacts that will help him benefit and secure the offered position in the government commission easily. In order to gain his trust and reassure him regarding their credibility, reports suggested that the trio of Singh, Garg, and Acharya introduced a man named Himanshu as the ‘officer on special duty’ to Patani.

If that wasn’t all, the trio also took a lumpsum worth Rs. 25 lakhs wherein Rs. 5 lakhs were asked to be given in cash and Rs. 20 lakhs reportedly were transferred between three different accounts. However, when Jagdish Patani confronted them about returning the amount after seeing no progress in the matter for over three months, threats were issued to him, and it is being said that they also behaved aggressively. Owing to the matter getting out of hand, Patani decided to take legal and police action against the four individuals.

Fans of AP Dhillon are excited to hear the musician live in the country after three long years and if news reports are to believed there are more surprises in store for them. Although the official lineup for the Brownprint India Tour by White Fox India hasn’t been released yet, there’s a growing buzz that artists such as Harsh Likhari, Daler Mehendi, Honey Singh and Jazzy B will join AP Dhillon on stage in Punjabi as part of a tribute to Punjabi music.

Ekta Kapoor is preparing for the release of Sambarmati Report, a Vikrant Massey-starrer set against the 2022 Godhra train burning incident, hitting theaters on November 15. In addition to this, she has several upcoming projects, including Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan and starring Akshay Kumar, slated for 2025. She also has Vann, featuring Siddharth Malhotra and directed by Panchayat’s Deepak Mishra. Furthermore, Ekta Kapoor has signed Rahi Anil Barve, the director of Tumbbad, for a new feature film.

Sources close to the development reveal that Ekta Kapoor, a big fan of Tumbbad, was highly impressed by Rahi Anil Barve’s work. She has signed him for a new feature film to be produced by Balaji. The script is currently in development, and the film is expected to be a high-concept project for the big screen. Production is likely to begin next year once the script is finalized. Ekta intends to cast a top-tier actor from the younger generation for the film.

The source also revealed that Ekta Kapoor is excited about Rahi Anil Barve’s directorial as a creative venture. In addition to the films mentioned, Ekta has commissioned Rajat Arora to develop Ragini MMS 3. The source added, “It’s another project that Ekta is looking to take on floors in 2025. Rajat Arora is working on the script of Ragini MMS 3, and as suggested by the title, the film will feature 3 female leads in the most stunning avatar. Ragini MMS 3 will also go on floors sometime next year, and the timelines will be locked once Rajat Arora locks the screenplay draft.”

The source clarified that Ragini MMS 3 and the Rahi Anil Barve film are separate projects, both scheduled to go on floors in 2025. Meanwhile, pre-production for Bhooth Bangla and Vann has already begun, with both films expected to kick off in the first quarter of 2025, likely by January. Karan Johar and Adar Poonawalla took the stage at the CNBC-TV18 Global Leadership Summit to discuss their joint venture. In October, it was revealed that Adar Poonawalla’s Serene Productions would acquire a 50% stake in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment for ₹1,000 crore.

The collaboration sparked significant excitement within the Indian media and entertainment industry, as it marks one of the few instances of outside investment in the content creation sector. Both Karan Johar and Adar Poonawalla agreed that the partnership was a natural progression for Dharma Productions. “I feel this is a great marriage of two minds,” Johar said. “It was an easy decision for us, and we truly believe this is the best partnership for the growth we envision.”

Reflecting on this new chapter for Dharma Productions, Johar emphasized that after years of producing films and building the brand, he realized that to grow further, he needed a partner who could bring fresh insights into business strategy. “I needed the partnership for that… someone who could help me create a vision and contribute strongly to growth with their business insight,” he said.

Adar Poonawalla admitted that his decision to enter the media and entertainment space came as a surprise. He stated, “I was as shocked as everyone else was for making this move.” Despite his lack of direct involvement in the industry before, he was drawn to Johar’s storytelling ability and the potential for growth in the business.

“It’s not such a bad business opportunity… with verticals like music distribution and content creation, these are areas that will thrive in the next 5-7 years,” he remarked.

Poonawalla acknowledged that investing in such an unpredictable sector came with risks, but the value of Dharma’s brand made it an attractive choice. “How do you quantify stories that change people’s biases or make iconic films? That’s something I saw with Dharma,” he said.

Their partnership, while financially strategic, also has a personal dimension. During the conversation, moderated by producer Siddharth Roy Kapur at the Global Leadership Summit, Johar joked about the complexities of corporate negotiations, remarking that he never imagined he would be discussing terms like ‘tags’ and ‘exits.’

“I know what drag is in a totally different way,” Johar laughed, referencing the business jargon he had to navigate. However, he expressed deep satisfaction with the collaboration, saying, “I am more accountable now than I’ve ever been… this is something my father always tried to make me understand, something Apoorva (Mehta, Dharma CEO) had been trying for 25 years.”

Both Johar and Poonawalla addressed the broader myths surrounding investment in the Indian media and entertainment sector.

Poonawalla acknowledged the industry’s unpredictable nature, with films sometimes underperforming or going over budget. “There’s always going to be some kind of gestational period,” he explained, noting that the next five years would be critical in determining whether the sector’s growth met expectations.

Johar added that while owning intellectual property (IP) had been central to Dharma’s success, the venture also offers the opportunity to retain more profits by fully owning films. However, he admitted that large-scale films would still require studio backing.

Aamir Khan had considered quitting acting and Bollywood during the pandemic but was persuaded by his family to reconsider. After the lukewarm reception of Laal Singh Chaddha in 2022, he decided to take a break and focus on his family. Upon returning, Aamir took on six new projects. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he explained that his decision was driven by the realization that these could be the last 10 years of his active career, as “we might die tomorrow.”

When his ex-wife, Kiran Rao, disagreed, citing the example of 97-year-old actor Clint Eastwood, who remains active, Aamir responded that Eastwood is an exceptional case, being one of the rare individuals in their 90s who stays mentally sharp.

Aamir Khan further explained, “You can’t trust life; we might die tomorrow. So, I am saying, I roughly have 10 years of active life. I am 59. Till I am 70, I will hopefully be well enough to be productive. So, then I thought, let me make my last 10 years the most productive.”

He also shared that as he gets older, he feels a strong urge to support the talent he believes in, including writers, directors, and other creative individuals.

He stated that one of the reasons he has taken on more films is to provide a platform for emerging talents before he retires at the age of 70.

In the same interview, Khan expressed his desire to experience retirement. He recalled a moment when he almost shared his retirement plans with his family, and Rao mentioned that Aamir’s daughter had jokingly said, “Please, papa, you can’t spend all your time with us; we will go crazy.”

The PK actor responded humorously, expressing his fondness for the idea of retirement, where he could focus on reading books and practicing yoga.

Filmmaker Karan Johar confirmed that the highly successful action film Kill will have a sequel. The Hindi film, which garnered attention internationally, had its world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in theaters in July. Karan revealed that plans are underway to mount the second instalment of Kill, following the success of the original, during his appearance at the CNBC-TV18 Global Leadership Summit in Mumbai. 

Success of Kill Paves the Way for Sequel
Kill, directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, revolves around an Indian Army commando named Amrit, who finds love in Tulika. However, their love story takes a dark turn when they become trapped on a train hijacked by Fani and his gang of dacoits, who begin murdering passengers. The film was lauded for its gripping narrative and strong performances by Lakshya, Tanya Maniktala, and Raghav Juyal.

While the film made waves at its premiere, Karan Johar spoke about the global success of Kill, which he believes will pave the way for further recognition of Indian cinema worldwide. He shared, “When we had a breakthrough film like Kill that made waves internationally, it was an electrifying moment for us. With deals struck at the Toronto International Film Festival, the film is now being remade in English and dubbed in multiple languages—a true testament to the global reach of Indian storytelling.”
Kill Sequel in Development
KJo also spoke about the sequel to Kill is in the works, with the team hoping to replicate the success of the original. The sequel will continue the story and expand on its international appeal. Johar added, “We’re now planning a second part, hoping for the same international success.”

The original film’s international appeal has already led to an English remake in development, with John Wick director Chad Stahelski attached to produce the film through his banner 87Eleven Entertainment for Lionsgate.
Indian Cinema’s Authenticity Will Shine
Karan Johar also spoke about the unique identity of Indian cinema. He explained that while Kill and its sequel may make waves globally, he doesn’t believe in “crossover” films. “Once you cross, it’s over. Indian cinema is unique in its essence, and it’s that authenticity, not compromise, that will captivate the world,” Johar stated.

He further highlighted the exciting international collaborations for the sequel, including a partnership with Neeraj Ghaywan, a Cannes award-winning filmmaker, to bring Indian cinema to more global festivals.
Kill Sequel: What to Expect
The success of Kill has set high expectations for its sequel. Produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, Kill is billed as “the most violent film made out of India.” With the sequel, Karan Johar and his team are hoping to raise the stakes even further while maintaining the intense and authentic essence that made the original film stand out.

Diljit Dosanjh has been issued a notice by the Telangana government ahead of his concert in Hyderabad on Friday, November 15. The notice requests the Punjabi singer-actor refrain from performing songs that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence. It also advises against involving children in the show and cautions that loud sounds and flashing lights could be harmful to them.

Diljit Dosanjh’s Hyderabad concert is part of his Dil-Luminati Tour, which covers 10 cities across India. The notice was issued by the District Welfare Officer of the Department of Welfare of Women and Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens, Rangareddy, following a complaint from a Chandigarh resident.

The notice highlighted that the representation, supported by video evidence, claimed Diljit Dosanjh had performed songs promoting alcohol, drugs, and violence during a live show at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi last month.

Diljit Dosanjh’s India leg of the Dil-Luminati tour will visit 10 cities, including Mumbai, Kolkata, Indore, Pune, and Guwahati. The tour began with a massive show in Delhi, followed by Jaipur, with the Delhi concert attracting over 35,000 attendees on a single day.

At the Jaipur concert, Diljit Dosanjh apologized to the audience for the fake ticket scam. He was quoted by India Today and said, “If anyone has fallen victim to a ticketing scam, I apologize to that person. We have not done this. Authorities are currently investigating the matter. Stay away from those involved in the scam. Our tickets sold out so fast, even though we did not get to know.” After his concert tickets sold out almost immediately, some individuals resold them at inflated prices, while others sold counterfeit tickets.

The final show of Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati tour will take place in Guwahati on December 29.

Shahid Kapoor’s anticipated mythological action film, Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues, has encountered unexpected delays. Announced with considerable enthusiasm in March at an Amazon Prime Video event, the film was set to be one of the streaming platform’s most ambitious projects from India. Directed by Kannada filmmaker Sachin B Ravi and produced by Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment in collaboration with Amazon Studios, Ashwatthama was designed to rival international fantasy-action films. However, eight months later, production has been put on hold due to significant budget constraints and logistical challenges.

Budget Overrun Concerns
According to a report by Mid-Day, the project was initially set with a substantial budget of over Rs 500 crore. Yet as pre-production advanced, costs began to escalate rapidly. The report quoted an insider saying, “The project’s scale was enormous. The idea was to create something that could rival international fantasy-action films. Ashwatthama was supposed to be shot across multiple countries. But as we began working out the logistics and coordinating shoots across international locations, it became clear that staying within budget would be a serious challenge.”

In addition to these challenges, Pooja Entertainment’s financial situation reportedly added pressure, further complicating the production process. This increase in budget and logistical complexity led to a decision to pause production until these issues could be resolved.
Shahid Kapoor Shifts Focus
Shahid Kapoor, who had already begun physical training for the role, is now said to have shifted his attention to an upcoming project with director Vishal Bhardwaj. Kapoor’s character in Ashwatthama was intended to bring a modern-day twist to the legendary warrior Ashwatthama from the Mahabharata, blending mythological elements with a contemporary narrative.
Industry Caution Around High-Budget Films
A trade insider highlighted that market conditions have made studios more cautious about approving high-budget projects. “Given the current state of the market, studios are being cautious about green-lighting mega-budget films. A project like Ashwatthama comes with a lot of risk,” the insider noted. 

With production on Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues now on hold, there remains uncertainty about when or if it will resume. Amazon Studios and Pooja Entertainment have yet to make official statements, and producer Vashu Bhagnani has not commented on the matter.
