Mumbai Police arrested Chhattisgarh lawyer Faizan Khan on Tuesday following a death threat and extortion message against Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan. Reportedly, the Bandra police station, after receiving the threat last week, traced the call to Faizan’s number. Upon questioning, Khan claimed his phone had been lost on November 2, suggesting a possible conspiracy to implicate him in the incident.

Faizan Khan Requests Virtual Testimony Citing Safety Concerns
Khan expressed concerns for his safety, requesting that his statement be recorded virtually due to the alleged threats he received. Although he initially agreed to travel to Mumbai for questioning on November 14, he wrote to the Mumbai Police Commissioner highlighting his apprehensions.

Khan previously filed a complaint against Shah Rukh Khan, accusing the actor of promoting religious discord. He cited a scene from the 1993 film Anjaam, in which the actor’s character is portrayed in a manner that Khan claimed offends the religious beliefs of the Bishnoi community, who are known for their dedication to wildlife protection, particularly deer. Faizan suggested that his critical stance toward Shah Rukh Khan, including comments in a YouTube video linking the actor to alleged terror activities, may have led to his current situation.
A Rising Trend of Threats Against Bollywood Stars
This incident involving Faizan Khan adds to a series of threats against Bollywood stars. In recent months, Salman Khan also received death threats, allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Last October, Shah Rukh Khan faced similar threats, which prompted the government to grant him Y+ security.

The police are continuing their investigation into Faizan Khan’s claims of innocence, his allegations against Shah Rukh Khan, and the origin of the threat call.

In a decision that further impacts the standing of Eros International Media, the capital markets regulator, SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India), has slapped a fine of Rs. 50 lakhs on the former managing director of the company, Sunil Lulla, in a case related to the violation of regulatory norms.

In June 2023, SEBI, through an interim order, prohibited Eros International and Sunil Lulla from securities markets in an alleged case of diversion of funds. The regulator also disallowed Lulla from holding any key managerial position in any listed company, including Eros, until further orders. Though Sunil Lulla appealed against this order, the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) upheld the order of SEBI in August 2023.

As per reports, Sunil Lulla failed to adhere to the orders of SEBI and did not resign from the position of director of Eros International Media until July 2024, that is, 13 months since the order was passed against him. Accordingly, the SEBI issued a show-cause notice to him on April 22, 2024. Therefore, Sunil Lulla left his position in Eros on July 31, 2024. However, this was done only after receiving the notice before launching of prosecution on July 4.

In an order passed on October 30, SEBI observed that Sunil Lulla did not comply with their order from June 2023 to July 2024. It also remarked that it is a matter of serious concern when a person in his position flouts the directions given by the securities market regulator and shows complete disregard for it.

Moreover, on October 29, SEBI imposed a fine of Rs. 12 lakhs each on the 17 entities for non-compliance with its investigation and failure to provide complete and timely information in the matter of Eros International Media Ltd. Hence, the total fine totalled around Rs. 2 crores.

As per reports, SEBI continues to scrutinize the company and its related entities.

One of the greatest moments of Hindi cinema was seen in Pathaan (2023) when Salman Khan aka Tiger comes to save the protagonist played by Shah Rukh Khan in the second half. That’s not all. In the end credit scene, Pathaan and Tiger appear together and they decide to let the young blood take over. However, they realize that there’s no one who could take their place. This is when Pathaan says, “Desh ka sawaal hai, baccho pe nahin chod sakte”. Both play spies and they are speaking about the younger secret agents but it was also a subtle way of the two Khans stating that they are irreplaceable. Now the third Khan, Aamir Khan, has reacted to this much-loved scene.

In an interview with Anupama Chopra on The Hollywood Reporter India, Aamir was asked about this sequence. He said, “I found the scene really funny. I have not seen the film but I have seen that scene because you get clips nowadays on Instagram. Hence, I ended up seeing that scene. It’s quite funny.”

When Anupama described the whole scene to him, he laughed and quipped, “I think all the young actors must have got really upset. And you can’t even get too upset with Shah Rukh and Salman. Kya kar sakte hai(laughs).”

Aamir Khan was asked about how he along with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have been the top actors and what is the way forward for them. Aamir clarified, “First of all, I have to say that it’s not just Salman, Shah Rukh and I who have lasted 35 years. There’s Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Mr Amitabh Bachchan and many actors who have been with us.”

He then said, “If anyone has figured out what stardom is and how it’s achieved, then you tell me because I don’t know. Why have I become a star and not somebody else, I have no idea. If you tell me to do it all over again, I won’t know how to do it again.”

He added, “With the internet coming in and with social media becoming a part of our lives, I think these factors will affect stardom. Earlier, stars were those whom you couldn’t reach. But now they are available quite easily. So the bunch of us who became stars before social media and the internet came in had a slight advantage I feel. For a new person coming in, he should stay away from the public.”

After giving some thought, Aamir Khan also noted, “The yardstick I have used for stardom is how many seats do you feel. If you are able to fill cinemas, then you are a star. Otherwise, I may love you but I may not come and see your film. People who cannot fill seats are perhaps also stars but as a producer, if I am signing a star, I expect him to fill seats. Otherwise, why am I taking him?”

Kartik Aaryan, riding high on the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is reportedly keen on reviving the Aashiqui franchise. The actor, initially set to star in Aashiqui 3 under Anurag Basu’s direction, aims to bring the film back under the iconic franchise banner. Originally titled Aashiqui 3, the project underwent a name change to Tu Aashiqui Hai earlier this year due to a dispute between the film’s producers, T-Series and Vishesh Films. However, the recent success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has prompted Aaryan to reconsider the strategic value of a franchise.

As per a report in Mid-day, a source revealed, “The success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3 has confirmed Kartik’s belief in the power of franchises. He has suggested to Bhushan that he initiate talks with Mukesh Bhatt to acquire the title. Kartik is certain that building the love story under the Aashiqui franchise will give it a push.”

The Aashiqui franchise has a rich history. The original 1990 film launched the careers of Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal. The 2013 sequel, Aashiqui 2, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, was also a massive commercial and critical success.

However, the road to Aashiqui 3 is not without its challenges. The ongoing dispute between T-Series and Vishesh Films over the franchise rights could complicate matters. Additionally, Anurag Basu’s busy schedule, including the reshoots of Metro… In Dino, may delay the project’s commencement. Despite these hurdles, Aaryan remains determined to bring the franchise back to life. He is committed to ensuring the film is made with utmost care and attention to detail. The actor is also keen on exploring other franchise opportunities, with a potential sequel to his 2018 hit Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety on the cards. “Anurag is anyway busy with the re-shoot of Metro… In Dino. With this new development, the project will only roll sometime next year. Kartik wants clarity on all aspects before he faces the camera,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan will soon start the shoot for Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 with Mudassar Aziz.

The Sabarmati Report promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience, showcasing the story of one of the most devastating incidents in our history. The trailer of the Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna starrer has set the tone for the release of this hard-hitting tale coming from the house of producer Ektaa R Kapoor. While many believed she had to face the censor board, the producer has provided an answer to it.

Recently during an interaction, Ektaa R Kapoor was asked, “There are reports which say that you are facing problem with the censor, the release date have been moved directors have changed. That was the scene behind the camera?” Replying to this, Ektaa said, “We got our censor in exactly one viewing and there was no problem with the censor, the film is so strongly factual, we actually deposited all the facts with all the news reports, other factual parts, so that everything that has been shown in the movie has been either reported or accepted as a fact.”

Speaking of the film, Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd presents, A Vikir Films Production, The Sabarmati Report is based on the Godhra train burning incident (February 27, 2002). Starring Vikrant Massey as a cameraman who discovers the truth behind ‘accident’, Raashii Khanna plays a determined report who would stop at nothing to get to the bottom of the incident. The film also stars Ridhi Dogra in a key role and is directed by Dheeraj Sarna. Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan, a worldwide wide release by Zee Studios, the film will be releasing in theatres on November 15, 2024.

In April 2024, Bollywood Hungama was one of the first ones to report that the IMAX screen in Wadala, Mumbai will soon reopen under Miraj Cinemas. Last week, it was reported that the theatre is expected to open on November 15. Bollywood Hungama now brings to you the latest update surrounding the reopening of Mumbai’s oldest and iconic IMAX screen.

As per sources, Miraj IMAX Wadala will reopen on Thursday, November 14. The multiplex comprises not just the IMAX screens but also four normal screens. While these four screens will be operational from November 14, the IMAX theatre will be opened to the public on Friday, November 15.

A source said, “The property has undergone an extensive renovation and now looks quite appealing. Not just the screens but even the F&B area now sports a new look and would be loved by the patrons.”

Some members of the media will get a dekko at the theatre sooner than the aam junta. This is because the press conference of Kanguva will be held at Miraj IMAX Wadala on Tuesday, November 12. The makers of the film will be launching a new asset of the film in the presence of Suriya, Bobby Deol, director Siva, music director Devi Sri Prasad and producer K E Gnanavel Raja.

Then, on November 14, the normal screens will be thrown open to the moviegoers and will show the new release Kanguva and also holdover films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Singham Again, etc. Meanwhile, on November 15, the IMAX screen will begin operations. The much-awaited Hollywood film Gladiator II releases this Friday and it will be the first film to be shown in the giant IMAX screen at this property.

Bollywood Hungama exclusively contacted Amit Sharma, Managing Director, Miraj Entertainment Limited and he confirmed the aforementioned plans. Police in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district have filed a case against filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for allegedly making derogatory remarks on social media against former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh, and his daughter-in-law Brahmini. As per a report by IANS, the case was registered at the Maddipadu Police Station based on a complaint from a local leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

Complaint Lodged by TDP Leader
The complaint, lodged by TDP Mandal Parishad Secretary Ramalingam, accuses Varma of making offensive posts last year that targeted Chandrababu Naidu, then Leader of the Opposition, and his family. Varma’s comments were allegedly shared as part of the promotions for his film Vyuham, which explored events surrounding the tragic death of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in 2009 and the subsequent rise of the YSR Congress Party led by Reddy’s son, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is now the Chief Minister.

The police have filed a case against Ram Gopal Varma under the Information Technology Act and have begun an investigation into the allegations.
RGV’s Controversial Past with the TDP
Ram Gopal Varma is no stranger to controversies involving Chandrababu Naidu. Known for his close association with the YSR Congress, Varma has often criticized Naidu and the TDP. His earlier film, Lakshmi’s NTR, portrayed the late NT Rama Rao (NTR), founder of the TDP, and his controversial relationship with Lakshmi Parvathi, as well as the political turmoil that ensued when Naidu led a revolt against NTR in 1995 to assume the role of Chief Minister.

In recent years, RGV has used social media as a platform to voice his critical stance on Naidu and his family. Apart from Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh, he has also targeted actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan, who currently serves as Andhra Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister.
Escalating Tensions Amid Political Alliances
The case against Varma comes at a time of heightened political tension in Andhra Pradesh, where the TDP has allied with Jana Sena and the BJP, forming a coalition aimed at challenging the YSR Congress Party. The TDP-led coalition has taken a firm stance against social media activists associated with the YSRCP, arresting several for derogatory posts aimed at TDP and Jana Sena leaders during the YSRCP’s tenure.

Varma’s conflict with the TDP is not limited to his recent social media posts. Last December, he filed an online complaint with the Andhra Pradesh police against activist Kolikapudi Sreenivas Rao, who allegedly offered a bounty of Rs. 1 crore on Varma’s head. Varma claimed that Rao’s threats were openly supported by certain news channels sympathetic to the TDP, which he alleged were “publicly offering monetary contracts” for violent acts.

RGV has also expressed frustration over a protest led by Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh, and Pawan Kalyan outside his Hyderabad office, following the release of Vyuham.
